Anyone pack a bunch of boxes for your DVC trip with food, drinks etc? We have 4 diaper boxes filled with apple juice for the kids, snacks, breakfast, soda, detergent, diapers for the 2 yr old etc.
Plus luggage, a cooler and a double stroller. Most of this stuff is really required and since we are driving, why not bring it than buy it. Things you really need seem to add up fast.

Anyone else feel a bit embarrassed when they open the trunk upon arrival?

I guess I just blew my cover.....BWV Sunday. See ya there.

Tony--
I don't think you should be embarassed at all. I think the DVC staffs are very accustomed to this -- it's like renting a beach rental or other vacation home -- of course, you bring a lot of the stuff you need!

When we drive to Hilton Head, we bring all our groceries (even whatever perishables are left in our home fridge come with us in a cooler). I find that we love to have groceries with us at DVC and we try to spend a lot of time grocery shopping on vacation. Last Thanksgiving, we had a free turkey from our grocery store and we brought it and all the fixin's for Thanksgiving dinner. We shop at Marketday.com and pick up at our elementary school -- we love the items we can buy there and the prices, and those are the things we want to bring with us. I also brought my own roasting pan, cooking utensils, etc.

Flying to WDW is a different matter entirely -- we only pack those groceries that we need in smaller quantities and do not want to buy there -- i.e., sugar, sweet n low, coffee, laundry detergent, etc.

Have a great time!

I agree, you should not feel embarrassed at all. You are going to a timeshare. We always take a bunch of food and other stuff when we drive. (Even in a hotel room). If we fly, I order food over the internet and have it shipped to the DVC resort. One of the main reasons we bought into DVC was to have the kitchen. We plan on using it. :) :)

You've pretty much described our family when we move into a DVC resort, LOL!!

I have a couple of baskets of "stuff" that I bring when we drive to WDW or HH with the kids. We usually spend more than just a couple of nights and like to truly make ourselves at home!

This is why we normally stay at OKW -- just easier to bring the stuff in than to parade it through the hotel lobby. ;)

When it's just DH and me, though, we don't bring as much, and then we take advantage of the other DVC options.

LOL, always tough when you are traveling with youngsters! We have gotten so we pack EXTREMELY light for DVC! One small roller bag per person. We mostly take comfortable shoes! The in room laundry makes it so easy to wash every other day, so we don't pack a whole lot of clothes, and we usually do a grocery run our first day there.

We are definitely heavy packers too. With a 5 and 2 year old, we need to bring a lot of stuff with us. We use those large tubs to pack our stuff in. We fill up the entire back of our Ford Excursion (with the third row bench taken out) with all of our stuff. We completely fill-up 2 valet luggage carts when we move in and move out. It's a little embarrassing!
