"Pack n Play cribs" at resorts - What are they?

We're taking our first trip to WDW with two young children and have some questions about the "cribs" provided by the resorts. They are listed on the resort sites as "Pack n Play" cribs - what does this mean? Does this mean they are Pack n Plays? Or are they true cribs? A hybrid? I'm confused. Our daughter will be 17 months when we go, is big for her age and is an active sleeper. I would hate to jam her into a true Pack n Play.

Anybody out there with experience on this one? Any photos to share of your little ones in their "Disney cribs?" Thanks for your help!

I would like to know about this also. We will be going to Disney in October and my son still sort-of fits into the Graco Pack and Plays with the mesh sides. His head and feet sometimes push up against the ends, but he says that he is comfortable. Are the Disney pack and plays true Graco brand pack and plays with mesh sides? Thanks in advance for any information!

I've never stayed at a WDW resort, but when our family stayed at the Grand Californian and the Paradise Pier in the Disneyland Resort in California, they had Graco "Pack-n-Plays" in the closets, not cribs.

Yes the cribs at Disney are true Graco Pack and Plays. I've stayed at All Star Music and Animal Kingdom Lodge and it was located in the closet. And at Disney's Boardwalk and Saratoga and Beach Club in a 1-bedroom, the Pack and Play was located in the coffee table/bench in the living room. (I actually called the front desk looking for it on my last trip). Usually they provide a sheet for the pad inside the zip up cover. But I prefer to bring my own and my own blanket. It just seems to me it could easily be forgotten to be replaced if the person staying in the room cleaned up the pack and play at the end of their trip. It does have mesh sides.

Oh and on a few occasions their hasn't been a sheet in there. But a quick phone call to Housekeeping got me one on the trips where I forgot about my own.

Off site I stayed at the Swan and the crib they provided was this tiny, antique-style metal crib. With no padding and just a full size sheet folded up on it. I definitely prefer the Pack and play to that.

We rented a true full size crib because yes, they are pack and plays , nothing like a crib and neither of my daughters would sleep in them. We paid about $80 to rent the full size crib by a place called Children's furniture I think in orlando. they set it up and took it down in our room. Worth every penny. Do a search on the forum and you can probably find there info. I can't remember where I put there info. Since my daughter hit 2 we bring with us a blow up toddler mattress from One Step Ahead that cost about $50 and comes with a pump. It has sides to it so they can't roll out. The big problem versus the crib is that she can stand up and walk around the room. Plus she was mad that we all got to sleep in a bed but her. The resorts provide free bed rails for those kids that are old enough to use them. Our goal next trip will probably be to have her sleeping withbed rails so she can shae a bed with her5 year old sister.

Every resort that we stayed in we found Pack & Plays also (All-Stars, Caribbean Beach and Beach Club). My kids slept in them fine, but they kept me up all night! Every time they moved it made a loud plastic shuffling sound. When they were old enough, we used a blanket to cover the plastic pad at the bottom and this helped a little. My daughter is very tall and had to curl up in there but that didn't seem to bother her.

We also got a Pack N Play while staying at the CBR, my DD (2) had no problems sleeping in it.. And it was VERY CLEAN!!!!.. They also provided a little blanket, which was a bit on the light side..
She slept very well...

I think but I'm not 100% positive that you can request a crib but the are limited. There is also a website I've heard mentioned www.abbf.com (A Baby's Best Friend) where you can rent furnirute, have it delivered & picked up.

Or any hotel chain! We went to Michigan last weekend and the Hampton Inn had a Graco Pack & Play.

Last year we rented a toddler bed from abbf and I wouldn´t hesitate to use them again. That is the only way you can be sure of getting a real crib. We stayed once at the Royal Pacific (US) and they had an awful flimsy metal crib, I second the pp who said the pack n play is way better than that.

We stayed at VWL and the crib was a pack n' play. It was fine for our toddler, but I would not have used it for an infant - two of the sides were solid nylon (not mesh) and I thought it posed a suffocation risk for an infant. Are all the pak n plays at WDW like this, or was this just an older model?

I believe you can also request bed rails if your child can sleep in a bed.

Another vote for A Baby's Best Friend. They are the best money spent on vacation. . . worth every penny to have a REAL full crib with a REAL mattress and CLEAN, fresh fitted crib bedding. All delivered and waiting for us before we arrived. Set-up was simple and easy (no tools!) and took less than ten minutes. Worth it worth it worth it!!! Our baby slept through the night EVERY night. No pack and play can do that.

Bumping for a response to the question about the mesh sides for the infant bassinette part of the pack and play. We'll be bringing our 6mo old in two weeks and would want to use the bassinette part but I'm worried about the strength and quality of the ones in the rooms... or even if they all come with the bassinette part???

I have not seen the bassinet part included with the pack and play in the room. I don't know if you can request it or not.

The pack & play @ BWV did not come with the bassinet. There are restrictions to these and I'm sure Disney doesn't want to be liable if a baby falls out & gets hurt. Here's a link to Graco FAQ, scroll down and there is a question regarding the bassinet. If the baby can roll over, is 18+ lbs or over 25" you should not use the bassinet.

When we stayed @ BWV last year with our 3 mo. old, I took the cushions off the sofa and placed in the P&P to help raise her up some but of course she was not rolling over yet.

I'm driving down and could bring my own if needed. The stroller and luggage take up all of my trunk space, so I'd rather not take mine.

Thanks so much for the responses on the bassinette. DD is ok for size and has only ever rolled once onto her belly (she hates it there) so we might give it a shot. Guess we'll bring her own to see. Honeslty, I'm still thinking about renting a full size crib... it depends on how well she sleeps there. I know she won't sleep if its like she's on the floor. We tried that at a friends place one time.

I was wondering about the rolling over and checked the Graco website. That link is about the half bassinettes. When you look at the instructino manual for the pack and plays with full bassinettes, it says they can be used til the baby is pulling up on his/her knees or reaches 15lbs. I feel a bit more safer now. I think we'll bring our own though since we know it'll be a full bassinette.
