Was she as shrewish as they portray her in the movie, Saving Mister Banks?
 
It depends on who you ask. Apparently, if you ask Robert Sherman, then the answer is yes and then some. Keep in mind though that that movie is not accurate in many ways. Walt already had the rights by the time the events in the film (she still had script approval) are depicted and many of the conversations between her and Walt were on the phone as Walt was travelling. The driver character was an amalgamation of several people as she didn't have just one driver/guide while there.

Travers was a complicated person. People say she never really liked the movie, but she seemed to accept that it was what it was and certainly was never too upset about the money she made from it.

Also, it' P. L. Travers, if you want to edit the title.
 
I don't know about P.L. but have you ever read the book? Damn, Mary is hard core.
