P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Your opening line would be from the Naked Gun. Gotta love Leslie Nielson.

"And don't call me Shirley!" (Different movie, but you get the jist). :lmao:

You got it Danielle,,, and once again it our fault he is dead. Ever since we started going to Florida on vcacations somebody we know or somebody famous dies.
Leslie passed away,,, I'm pretty sure, when we were at Pop last year complaining about how cold it was. This tradition goes all teh way back to '78, our Cruise Honeymoon, when at the airport on the way home I got a newpaper and found out Bob Crane was murdered.

We were in Disney when O J had his high speed Bronco escape after killing his wife an Ron.
I was sitting at the Calypso pool in '03 when John Ritter passed away suddenly,,,, it goes on and on.

One morning,,, we had a friend of ours drive us to the airport on our very first ever time flying to Disney,,, it was 5 in the morning and we heard sirens all over the place as we left town.
When we got back we found out that a regular customer, a school teacher, who came into the tavern Bittersweet that Smidgy workded at,,,he and his wife died in a home fire,,, that was the sirens we heard. No, people didn't want us to take many trips after that,,,, and I'm not kidding, two other "regular" older guys died when we were down at Disney.

Love the sultry Miss Smidgy! The funny thing is, that's the song our son did the last time we went to Karaoke.
Sorry about those rude conventioneers. I can't stand when people won't shut up when someone's singing. There are plenty of bars to go to where you can have a loud conversation. Leave karaoke to the singers and their fans.:snooty:

Danny, too bad you couldn't get to hear a duet of us doing Because,,, or Save Your Heart for me,,, yeah,, the songs are really dated,,, but they're fun to do, and even the young'uns get a kick out of it.

Just for the record,,, I don't know how popular this was outside of the Chicago area,,,, but Jeremy and I did I mostly rap type song a couple times that would almost kill me, it got so high. He would do the rap part and I would do the singing part,, it was the only rap song I've ever liked,,, by a group named Linkin Park,, the song title is
"In the End"
That baby was a gas to do!

Then, if I wanted to self asphyxiate myself,,,
I'd do "Sold" by John Michael Montgomery,,,, he has to have an extra set of lungs to do that.

Yeah, that's me,,, from rap to oldies to pure country, I'm a mess!

Wow! Another great chapter! I'm so sad the trip is almost over.

That's so funny that you mention the middle aged people trying out for Idol. I also wondered why they bother trying to get an audition when they aren't eligible to be on the show anyway.

Loved the Midol/Geritol story. Looks like you're not the only wit in the family.

Laura, that reallly was a lot of fun that night, I guess it always is when somebbody gets a kick out of you and buys you drinks.

How can you not like that?

Hey Nebo - Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any pictures or videos in your last chapter. :confused3 But I enjoyed it anyway!!:goodvibes

I could not believe what I saw got posted later on,, how in the world did that get so messed up?

What a great day. Right before Smidgy went to work she was in the kitchen and screetched!,,,, Huge water stain,,,, on the ceiling,,,,, sky is falling,,,, gotta run,,,, c'ya.

Turns out the water heater went blewy,,, got a friend over to confirm it,,,, get to try to do something else I've never done beror tomorrow,,,,, sigh,,,, taking a break right now from cleaning up ,,,,,,does Menard's accept Monopoly money?

Nice beaver...
bvr.jpg

I loved all the old guys they got to play out of character in that movie,,, Leslie and Robert Stack and Bridges and Graves,,, that was just brilliant,,, and they all worked out great,,,, even Barb Billingsly,,,did I get that right?

So let me get this straight. Usually you get hurt at least once on these TRs... This time you couldn't find the seat belts so you skip them. Then you are thrown from the ride, sail out through the upper windows and yet still land safely near your old smoking area? What, they got rubber floored smoking areas? Air bag covered smoking areas? What???

I wondered if this was gonna be a problem,,, yep, it was, I didn't 'splain it good. No, it was the LAST time I didn't get my seat belt on easily,,, so this time I skipped it totally because it was too much work,,, and to be honest,,, sometimes I just get tired of needing somebody elst to help me out,, even if it is just a seat belt thing,,, I feel like they are expecting me to tip them.

Yeah, yeah... another thing I haven't done.... it's on the list.

I"d only concern myself with idol if you've done everything else.
Oh wait,,, daughters,,,, times two,,,, sorry, never mind.

Oh, and here's what was supposed to be posted of the contestants sitting on the stage before the voting;

Let's see what humorous picture the Dis decides to post this time,,,,, watch it be the damn cow picture again....../COLOR]

and again, for what it's worth, it was the last cow on the right that won that night.

Absolutely, you don't wan't somebody telling you when to make a fool of yourself. You do an admirable job of that all on your own! You certainly don't need help.

Well thank you, I appreciate that.

'Cause us old timers gotta show them young whipper snappers that just 'cause we're old and we don't know an iphone from a gramophone doesn't mean we're not cool! :cool2:

um... My DD14 just informed me that if you use the word 'cool'... you ain't.

Well, Ok, then what is the now, universally accepted cool word for the word cool if cool isn't cool anymore?

Was his name Neuman? 'Cause Neuman is an island.

You know, I missed it when I first read it, and I read it twice,,, it wasn't until I'm doing the callout comments that it became crystal clear, your pun.
I hate when that happens.

Actually, I really like that, "a little stoic island". :thumbsup2

Yeah, where the heck did I pull stoic out of?
And why?

Wow! Idol is more impressive than I thought! I love the fountains, and is that a candy corn in the background?

And Mickey standing on top.

Just kidding. I too read the chapter before there were pics and I find it funny that first there's nothing and then there's a completely wrong pic. Gotta watch out. Next time you try and change it we'll see a picture of Smidgy in her skivvies.

I just like saying that.
Smidgy in her skivvies,
Smidgy in her skivvies,
Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, Yeah!

I just dated myself again, didn't I.

Not at all:

Arte Johnson: "So, do you believe in the hereafter? heh, heh, heh."

Ruth Buzzy: Shyly and nervous, "Of course I do."

"Heh, heh, heh, Then you know what I'm here after."

Late last year there was a taping of the first season of Canada's Got Talent here in town and a friend of DD14 was trying out. We went and had a blast. It was very interesting to see how everything is manipulated and choreographed. Trust me. What you see on TV ain't what really happened.

Still. It was fun.

Oh boy,,, do I want to,,,Back in the very early eighties Diane was pouring herself into the bible, I was somewhat but no where near what she was like in devoting her reading,,,, and a Christian friend of ours suggested she try out to get on an actual Christian Game Show,,,, The Bible Baffle,,, and no, I'm not making this up.

The studio was in Downtown Chicago, I can't remember what street it was on, but she and I and our friend went down there that day for the taping.
You are right, what you see on tv is nothing like what is really there in the studio,, but I had a gas sitting up in the booth with the guys filming and cutting the sound,,,
it was way, way, cool.

But I"m not going to automatically go into how the game played out for Smidgy,,,, I'll let her go into that if she chooses, but I will say that I believe that first place prize was a weekend for two to a resort in the Wisconsin Dells, and tickets to Biblical Gardens, all courtesy of the Great Bible Baffle.

Wow, been I while since that tape played itself a bit in my mind.

Ya got me.

:rotfl:cool, thanks for admitting it.

I'm AOK with the FYI on your MO for the PM.

Totally lost me on the reference to the 'Baltic' for awhile there. Had to look it up. I could only remember Carpathia (which was later sunk by torpedoes) and the Olympic (Titanic's sister ship).

We recently had a Titanic exposition here and it was very interesting.

Really? The Carpathia was sunk by a U boat? I dind't know that, they were the ONE boat that took all the chances in the world to believe that the Titanic was NOT just shooting off fireworks and reaaly WAS in trouble and risked everything, their own ship in ice laden waters trying to get there as soon as possible,,,and now you tell me they were sunk a few years later?

Well, aren't you a good time. You must have been a riot after the Lusitania went down as well!

shark.jpg

Ok, that was great,,, nice job:rotfl2:

Do not start singing that!!!!

No, not in a million years.
But I have done "Can you see the love tonight" , Elton John's version,,, and always considered trying his version of Circle of Life,,,, but never had either the guts, or enough drinks in me to try that one.

sigh... I spent a while on that too. KJ? What the heck is a KJ? Oddly enough, it never occurred to me that it might simply be a typo for DJ.
Then, as you say, the nickel dropped.
1j2q1i.gif

Karaoke Jockey Oooohhhhh...

There you go,, see? They can be taught!

:lmao: Sympathy cramps?

Stupidity gramps

Is it just me? Or is rudeness becoming the norm rather than the exception?

situations like this,, no, they probably have 2 days to have as much fun as possible,,,, I'm not sticking up for them,, but I"ve talked to "conventioneers" before,, and it really sounds mostly like a nightmare, so when they get a few hours in a bar, anything goes.

Yes she did! But you can sure tell that they were starting to get to her. The first time she sings "these boots are gonna walk all over you" you hear appreciative cheers, the second time... I'm betting she could hardly hear herself, let alone what anyone else may or may not have heard.

Yep, you nailed it,,, by the time I got up right after her,,, it was to the point of " why bother"

No! Oh you poor man. Don't you know that there are only four words that a married man should ever say? That works in every situation?

1. Oh
2. Yeah
3. Right
4. Sorry

"Honey! Don't forget to record that TV show we want to watch!"
"Oh yeah! Right! Sorry!"

That's good,,, and we'll leave it at that.
"It was our anniversary yesterday."
"Oh.... Yeah.... Right..... sorry"

Ok, we won't just yet leave it at that,,,, you are lucky,,, you only have ONE Annie a year,,,, we get to forget about it two times,,, and to be honest,,,, we have BOTH forgotten at least one of them in recent years.

Radar! Don't move!

"Would you like to finish that sandwich here or in surgery?" comes to mind.

Fair? Weren't you paying attention during the wedding ceremony?

"And do you, Nebo take Smidgy to be your wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, to admit now and forever that she is always right and you are forever wrong and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

The Devil's in the details, dude.:lmao:
Right, and vacationing in Winnipeg!

Huh. I thought the 10 day pass meant only 1 day at each of the waterparks. For some reason I didn't think you could go to the waterparks for 10 days.

I think this is a hidden Disney gem,,, if you add the water parks and more option,, it's about 50 bucks,,, but it's a park a day, for as many days as your tickets,,,,, that's why we got the no expiration,,,,, we used 5 days of tiks for a may trip,,, then 5 days for that Beach Club trip,,,,, but the water parks are all still sitting there on those tickets,,,,,, we used one at DQ and one each at Typhoon Lagoon,,,, no, not going to waste any more at DQ, so still have 8 left each at the Water Parks.

The no expiration clause doesn't save you any money on base tickets,,,, it's like buying a 5 day pass, twice,,, that' s pretty much the same price as a 10 day no expiratinon pass.
Ahh,,, but adding water parks is only about 55 bucks more,,, and those don't expire either,,, at least,,, not yet they don't.... I keep waiting for this little "water park loophole" to be closed.

Hey! I like Q-Bert. I've even finished it.

Finished IT? WOW, I'm impressed,,, Smidgy is much better at this then I am,,, my guy keeps jumping off the side when he gets nervous.

But I don't want to spend a disney day playing it.

I know, I know, you're a Missile Command guy.

Chocolate filled herring? Interesting choice. Do they serve that at Akershus?

Don'lt look at me, I don't, and probalby never will, do Akershus.

Thanks again for another fun chapter! :goodvibes

Nice breakdown,,, really liked the Jaws with the Friendship boats.

Wow, between life and this testy Dis board, I have had a heck of a time getting on here. So many great lines and comments to catch up on I don't know where to start, so I won't and just say I am loving it all and will now head over to your dining reviews.

Smidgen, great voice.

Hey, there you are, nice to see you back from your brutal time spent on the balcony at the Boardwalk. DId you have a room right over the actual promenade? Or do the rooms in the center section facing the inside courtyard and the stairs leading into the lobby alos qualify as "Boardwalk" views?

You got it Danielle,,, and once again it our fault he is dead. Ever since we started going to Florida on vcacations somebody we know or somebody famous dies.

OMG, us too! Our 1st trip (Well our 1st trip together) Princess Diana died, then it was Roy Rogers, and then the shooting at the Capitol Building. I don't emember they years or anything, but we were beginning to think we were bad luck!

We were in Disney when O J had his high speed Bronco escape after killing his wife an Ron.

I was in Atlantic City for this one!

No, I got lucky and was actually on the Promenade. I was in the room over the "family recipe" sign at Kouzzina. It was awesome.

Broken water heater!! What a not magical thing to have happen! Hope it didn't cause too much damage and you get it cleaned up in time to watch the Big Game!

Harry Truman died when we were on our way to Disneyland, Elvis when we were arriving in San Diego. A lesser star, Brian Keith, died as we were driving home from Disneyland, and we saw the paparazzi helicopters hovering over his house in Malibu. Just like vultures!

And that Artie Johnson line is one of my favorites. Heh, heh, heh.

Strange how those things stand out, isn't it? Ugh, it hurts to even typr right now.

Yeah,,, I guess I'm done, every bone in my body hurts right now trying to ge the old one our and down the stairs and the new one up, my back is clamping down as we speak.

Hey Danielle,,, when is the best time to go to Disneyland that meets these parameters:

it's hot and dry, not cold and rainy:
it's also nor crowded
I'm also assuming that weekdays are less crowded than weekends there

/
I would say September or October weekdays are the best time for DL. We never get to go then because we're school teachers, so we have to go when the kids are out of school. You can get hot, dry weather anytime, though. One of the times we went for President's Day, it was nearly 90 degrees. Fortunately, we don't get a lot of hot and steamy weather in most parts of CA.

And, yes, Brian Keith shot himself. I know he had a terminal illness, but I don't remember what.

I just dated myself again, didn't I.

Does your wife know? You're two-timing, with YOURSELF!?!?

How does that work anyway? Who picks up the tab when you two go out for dinner? or do you go double dutch?

Inquiring minds want to know these things...

Inquiring minds want to know these things...

1. No she doesn't know... it's just between you and me and me.
2. I usually pick up the tab, but sometimes I do.
3. The conversation is great... bordering on brilliant at times. Almost like I know what I'm going to say before I say it.

Thanks, one of these days we hope to rent points from our friends and stay out at the Hotel California or whatever it's called.

Wow...take a little time off the boards and miss a couple 20 pages...I've got some catching up to do! Have you hurt yourself yet??

Any chance you sell Nebo crib notes so I dont have to go back and read the whole thing...lol.

And you added a Dining Review??? Oh, this I've got to read. :thumbsup2

Any punishments for being MIA for so long??

Big changes coming to FASTPASS in March
Feb 06, 2012

Some big changes are expected to be implemented at all FASTPASS attractions next month. Starting March 7 2012, it is expected that the FASTPASS return windows will now be actively enforced, with a 5 minute early arrival and 15 minute late arrival to be allowed. Anyone arriving outside of those times will not be allowed entry to the attraction. The new validity windows will be required for the future roll-out of more advanced NextGen FASTPASS systems, which will require much tighter control of FASTPASS entry than what the current system offers.

The current FASTPASS system does not allow early arrivial times, but does allow late arrivals up to the end of the day. Many guests make use of the late arrival tolerance with the current system, so the new enforcement will be a significant impact to those guest's park touring plans.

I have found out in the past that when I post re-runs they pretty much bomb.
Well, to me, that's pretty much what is happening over on that dining reviews thread I started.

I've basically found out that when people want to know about food,,,, they want to know about food and a sense of humor and funny stuff aren't what they are looking for then, and old reviews are as valuable as campaign promises, in most of their eyes.

I've only got a couple more reviews to post over there and I"ll be finished, but I hate to stop now when It's almost done, so if any of you really love me, you'l go over and post something so I'm not putting back to back restaurant reviews together. :lmao:

I didn't know there was a dining review! I will head over and check it out! I personally find reviews I can't use very helpful to plan a potential Disney trip I can't afford.

Check this month's Reader's Digestion

And you added a Dining Review??? Oh, this I've got to read. :thumbsup2

Sorry, you'll have to wait until it grows another 12 pages in order to not it read it too, "The Wisdom and Thoughts of Kim Kardashian" is pulling in more readers than my dining reviews.

Any punishments for being MIA for so long??

Yes, go read "The Wisdom and Thoughts of Kim Kardashian."
(no it's not, I made it up) at least I hope so

I can't believe all these changes are now coming after we have finally gotten our son to join us at Disney,,, and now everything we know and all our tricks and secrets are going out the window.
For ten years we have been telling him how much he will love Test Track,,,,,,so of course they are shutting it down for the whole summer!

I didn't know there was a dining review! I will head over and check it out! I personally find reviews I can't use very helpful to plan a potential Disney trip I can't afford.

Makes sense to me,,, I've had a terrible urge to go and buy a Disneyland Guide Book,,, even though who knows when we will ever get to Disneyland, if ever.

Oh, and Janet? I don't see a "St. Auggie" in your ticker anymore,,,, has that been discarded?

Last full day already- this trip report has flown by!:sad1: The last Disney day is always so bittersweet. It always seems as if all the happiness and excitement of the trip is somehow counteracted on the last day by the sadness and dread of going home. An equal but opposite force...

I've always thought the American Idol Experience would be a lot more fun if the prize were something that everyone could use, like a Disney gift card or something. Isn't it likely that people who aren't of American Idol age would enjoy participating and would be just as entertaining as AI-agers?

So how much have I missed? Tell me it isn't over yet? Lady H and I have been so busy at work, we've fallen way behind. Off to see if I can at least catch up a little. Just letting you know we're still around.

I'm so far behind and probably won't be able to catch up any time soon. My grandmother passed away unexpectedly this morning... after 2 major heart attacks within hours of each other, early Saturday morning.
I wanted to stop in and ask for your prayer and good thoughts for my family. This is SO hard on my mom... but at least she's got our family to help her get through it.. thanks in advance for your prayers!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Lady H and I offer our condolences.

WOW. I'm further behind than I thought.
