P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Oh no, oh my goodness I hate to hear this. I too loved to read her writing, and when she had to leave here I still read her stuff, I followed her and she was funny as ever!! I followed along while she and Del renovated that trailer, oh that was funny stuff!! Oh her poor family, what a presence she was for them, oh my heart goes out to them.... may God hold them and comfort them now.

I'm trying for smaller portions myself right now, just had a doc visit to renew meds, and I'm u to 213 pounds and that's pretty disgusting, so I'm shortening my call out meals to just 2 or 3 at a time now,,, this way I get a chance to "Feel" full. Know what I mean?

Orrrrr, it could be that I'm not sure how much time I have before the order to vacate comes through.

Okay. First, a little house cleaning appears to be in order...

Sigh,,,,, ok dear, where do you want me to start? The usual? Start with the vacuuming upstairs and work down? Do I have to do the stairs again with that clunky,,,,,,,uh, oh wait, Ponzi said this, didn't he?
Oh thank you, thank you,,,,,:worship:

Oh, the 7 screamy teenies were an absolute joy... really... no, honest... no... ah, who'm I trying to kid. Between the birthday girl locking herself in the bathroom, "Daddy, <sob> they're not listening to me!" To the guest crying in the bedroom, to the absolute pandemonium which let up around 2:30 am... yeah... good times.

OMG. Yep, that's it, OMG.
Ok, I can picture it, really , I can. BRings to mind and old comedy, Please don't eat the Hemlock. ,,,,,,,,, well, maybe this just once.

As for me, more of an annoyance than anything. Although I was a bit concerned there for a while. I noticed a bit of redness and swelling under my left eye on Wednesday. Thursday morning it was a bit worse so I moseyed over to the local clinic (I never sashay to a clinic. I either mosey or poke along). The doctor decides it's an infection and prescribes an antibiotic and a cream. "If it gets worse, come back."

I don't, really don't, like the idea of adding "creme" to antibiotics.
The gunkiness is caused by infection,,,, antibiotics, heal infections, antibiotics heal gunkiness.
Cremes, cause gunkinesss, infections or no infections, antibiotics are now useless on man,,,, woman inherits the earth!

The next day, the swelling and redness are more pronounced

Ok, I'l try.
SWEL-LING
RED-NESS

but not too much worse. Cue the 17 hours of screaming, crying girls.

Saturday morning I can hardly open my eye, the swelling's so bad. I decide (with DW's prompting) to go to the urgent care clinic at the hospital (plus, that's where the eye specialists are).

Did you just say the emergency car care clinic?

Or emergency eye care clinic? My entire body is shuddering. They didn't give you an estimate, did they? Is it run by Goodtear?

The doctor takes a look and says I'm on the right pills, can he see the cream? "Oh, no. This cream is absolutely wrong I'll give you a prescription for another. Come back if it gets worse, but by tonight you should see improvement."

New it, should have stuck with just the Olfaxin, so what are they calling Pink Eye in Doctorail terms nowadays? AND you know? I never had that either.

Sunday morning. It's worse. Back to urgent care. I'm called to the examining room. A woman who I assume is the doctor examines my eye and advises me that I almost certainly have shingles. She then goes on at great length how shingles show up in various places on your body, etc. Crap! I've got shingles! A few minutes later a doctor walks in and says, "Well it's definitely not shingles, because... blah, blah, blah. You've either got preorbital edema or @!#%*thisis.

Ok, Ok, I got it, I got it.
This is your thesis,, and those keyboard emoticons that used to have actual important meanings in the past but now only stand to mean that somebody is swearing, means you are saying that this is in the negative,so,,,, this part is the anti-thisis or what you have been saying and what was it I was recently saying to you about going on for too long and what was the question anyway?:lmao:

If it's @!#%*thisis Oh yeah, see, you have a lot of negative energy flowing in you right now..

it could be aggressive so we'll treat it with IV antibiotics.
See? This is how we came in, you're treating it with 4 anitibiotics again,,,, and it would be a lot easier if those Canadian doctors would quit trying to write in Roman Numerals,, somebody might have misinterpeted that to mean that you are going to walk around all day with a coat rack and bottles hanging from it with straws leading to a big straw in your arm.

geesh, good thing I'm here. :woohoo:

After that, we'll leave it up to you. If it gets worse, come back tomorrow for another round, otherwise, bye bye."

Didn't I see this part?

Okay. I have no idea who the first person was that said I had shingles... maybe housecleaning? :confused3

I think it was Voldemort.

Monday morning. Still very swollen, but the redness is smaller... but it's darker. What does that mean? Back to urgent care. Hmmm... let's see, this makes doctor #4. So, doc, what is this? "Oh, that's just cellulitis." (Great, 4 doctors, 4 different diagnosis) "We'll give you anoter round of IV antibiotic and that should do the trick."

Sigh. Whatever. My face hasn't fallen off yet, so that's a plus, right? I'm really considering going to the emergency room of another hospital, just to see if I could get another diagnosis. Maybe I'll go for an even half dozen!

Hey, Obama? Maybe our health care isn't quite as bad as we make it out?:rotfl: No no no, not making this a political comment. I have no idea,,, if anythinng, it's a lame political joke.

I agree. I didn't think it was any longer than other chapters. Then again, when I'm enjoying a good read, long becomes short. Know what I mean?

yeah? Really? Not sure about that one,,,think there's more hidden in there...... ok, fine, you stay over there,, I'll stay over,,,

Thanks for more great updates! I'm glad you get to go back in April! CSR looks beautiful. We had toyed with doing QSDP there too, with Pepper Market, but then Free Dining came out, so we did POFQ instead. I'll be watching to see what happens with the Dining Plan and the Pepper Market buffet. I agree, I can't imagine a resort that size without a true QS place. Time will tell, I guess. I CAN see the buffet working well for convention guests, though.

Yep, once again,,, something to keep an eye on, let us know if you see something.

Ponzi, don't have time now, and I still haven't read ahead, so hope all is well with your eye. I guess the next chapter if gonna be a tad behind. That's ok.

Nebo, I didnt know Del's wife any more than you did, just read her reports. Such a sad loss for sure.
I totally forgot that I posted LY/MI to you lol. But I have to say, I mean it more now than ever.

I'm so excited you are going for another trip soon, the more fodder to keep the hordes satisfied, LOL.

Boy, I still haven't gotten to Ponzi yet this chapter, have I? Geesh, you lose that rhythm and it can be so hard to get back into it, like teachilng my Grandmother how to breakdance, yep, those were some good times right there, let me tell you.

Gotta pick on you though;

You were considering QS at Coronado (makes sense) but changed the room to FQ to take advantage of free dining. (makes absolutely no sense).

French Quarter had decent food courts, ok, but no where near as extravagant as what you can get for counter service at Peppper Market. A rib-eye steak with potatoes and gravy and veggies and desert is a 23 dollar counter service credit.

Plus,,, French Quarter doesn't even have a t able service restaurant since they closed down Bonfamille, walking to Riverside doesn't count, PLUS, one of the best Fillets I have had on property was at Maya Grill at Coronado, the fillet was only a part of the combination platter I ordered,, it was embarassing how much I had to leave behind.

Ah, but FQ does have the beignets, guess you can't go wrong with fried dough at any time of day.

Whoops, blew that one big time. I wasn't meaning Raiders in 'Zona, I was thinking YOU. I forgot you are in the state next door that gave birth to mine and Smidgy's car.
I don't kknow what it's like to each have a different favorite team when it comes to football, and why the heck is he a Dolphin? but good luck, if it's anything like trying to hang wallpaper together, might as well file the papers now!:rotfl:

I'm kidding,,,,:cloud9::grouphug::flower3::littleangel::love:

Well we survived the game...I say that in terms of me and Mr. T...I don't think the Raiders survived, or for that matter showed up to the game. :headache:

Ok, I,,,, we,,,, have been hoping to be able to get a spring trip in ,,,,,, well,,,,, next spring.
Yes, that's how these type of things work, if you want to take a spring trip, you usually end up having to go sometime in the spring, or, the Vernal Equinox for you hoity toity types.

D'oh...I've been doing this wrong the whole time...Being that we are in the midst of snow here in December, I'm sure going to Orlando at this time of year will feel like spring...does that count as a spring trip?

But the room only code only went mid March, and Free Dining only went to end of March, which is still "Just write a blank check and we will fill in the numbers" peak, holiday season at Disney. We want regulary season,,,(after April 15, and before Mama's Day, May 13, I think).

This drops down to regular season rates, way better.

We were hoping for Free Dining which is still the best deal unless you are on a hunger strike, but I kinda doubt a free Dining extension is coming for the spring, got a feeling it's going to go back to just being in September like it was in the beginning.

Couple days ago, room only rates came out, and we ounced on them.

They are good till mid June,,,, let's see, and don't hold me to this, but I will be close...............

AS Sports and Music,,,,,, 20 % off.
Nuttin, for Movies, cept Maybe, Maybe, 5 percent off

20 % off for Riverside, but nuttin for French Quarter but maybe 5% again.

No, not bothering here right now with the deluxes, they were in the 20- 25 range, except CR which was, once again, eveybody? maybe 5%.

The most off was at SSR and OKW, as usual, 30% off over by them. Hey, for the best info on this, click on Mousesavers,, it's easier to understand than on the Dis.

What intrigued us though was the 25% off at CBR and Coronado, Now you're talkin'!

Our last stay at CSR was in Feb of '08, a 5 night stay that didn't have it's own trip report due to the ongoing report of our first December, holiday trip,, Honey I shrunk the Checkbook. The last Coronado stay was the one where we spent a couple days in Kissimmee at America's Best Value inn,,,, when our room was literally falling apart around us!

We figured it was time to hit CSR again.

We plan on flying, and doing it that way frees up a couple of extra days so we have a 10 day stay booked at Coronado, April 29 to May 9.

I live vicariously through your trips, because we have yet to stay onsite at Disney. Hopefully one of these trips we will find a good deal to do so, until then, I will live through you and Smidgy.

We are still hoping to go later in the year with son, Todd and wife Kim and finally, FINALLY, grandson Jackson!
So plan for right now is to purchase 6 day base tickets, then when we get there, bridge them into Annual Passes, this then turns our base tiks into Hopper passes too.

I can't wait for that trip report, That will for sure be filled with a whole new experience through the eyes of a child.

Then!, we can now use the benefits of the annual passes, in case Smidgy wants to do the Richard Petty Driving experience or the Spitting Cobra Spittoon Challenge!

Where's Ponzi with the mental image we all need for this?!

Now, here comes the screwy part that can only happen to us,,,, well,, that's the way I,,,, or most people would feel abbout something like this.

We really love Coro,,,, stayed there 3 times now, once in Cabanas and twice in Casitas, but it's a place that you had either best be on the dining plan, or never plan on eating at the resort itself, or drive down and bring your own food.

While the choices at the food court are definately "interesting", the choices are also interestingly "High",,,, PLUS, they add and extra ten percent tip automatically if you eat there, but if you're on the dining plan, then all is ok.

Since we chose CSR, and we are flying down, for the first time in our lives we are doing what I have always wanted to do, and that is to get just the quick service dining plan.

Well, to be hones, it's what I really wanted to do a year or two ago.
Now, since you have to pay for a mug that comes with it,
even the QSDP costs way too much to me, it's 35 a night, per person.

But at CSR, you WILL recoup the cost if you plan things well;
they have steaks and ribeyes and pork chop meals over 20 bucks there, that fall into the counter sercice category.
If you couple that with, oh, say, Flame tree BBQ RIBS :rolleyes1, places like Wolfgang Puck and their Meatloaf hockey pucks,,,Sunshing Seasons and other of the more higher to the buyer, the hoity to the toity, or the rootin' to the tootin" of the Dining Plan users, you can still get your money's worth.

Anyeay,,,,, I'm looking forward to it!
"Oh boy, finally the quick service plan, don't have to set it in stone, dominate the schedule,,, and if I choose wisely, I can get the triple chocolate cake for deserts and snacks every day!

What can go wrong?

My euphoria lasted 3 and a half hours.

Looking at the restaurants and confirmed snacks,,,, and menu threads right here on our beloved DIS,,,,,,,,,,

I came across a thread ,,,, brand,,,,, spanking new thread
i should add,,,,,, that spaketh of possible changes to
Pepper Market at Coronado Springs.

This was all November 30, and it said that on the 4th, today, Pepper Market will cease their usual service for breakfast and dinner, and become Buffet's for those two meals until at least Jan. 4, A one month trial period.

Breakfast is 15 per person,,,,, lunch is 17 per person, dinner is supposed to stay as is.

For now.

The regular Maya Grill, the fance eatery there which we have eaten at once and liked,, will no longer be oopen for THEIR own breakfast buffet, and will have a revised menu.

But these buffets are staying as counter service credits for now.

Ok, the DINING PLAN contract is about to expire with all parties involved, how many of you believe that Pepper Market will offer Break and Lunch buffets as counter service meal credits,,, value prices?

This is a trial,,,, uh uh,,, the chance I think is zero it stayhing counter service credit prices, which means we are SOL!

They say they are going to add items to Cafe RIx,,,,,,, which seats 50,,,,,but c'mon, there are over 1900 rooms there, perpper Market as a counterservice as it was wasn't big enough,,, and evne though you can get sandwiches at Siestas with fries,,,, it always closes early at 6:30 for food, so that won't work.

Which brings us to me not being happy.
I can't believe it, finally book a trip I was looking forward to for a long time, and NOW, NOW, they have to go and change porridge!

Just about everybody thinks that Pepper Market has been searching for it's own identity for a long time,,,, and with the current Disney Dining deal about to expire, they are willing to try "whatever", to make some money for a change.

No, what I think, it's not run by Disney and I think too many people there are working harder on stealing identities than they are of creating new identities.

This is run by the same company that runs the Mexico Pavillion in Epcot, San Angel Inn,,, and et al,,,but obviously priorities will shift. I got the feeling that previously they were more focused on stealing identities rather than building new ones at Pepper Market.

Even back in 08', that kinda cold Feb trip for only 5 days,
it seemed like the mantra I heard more thatn once from what I was positive was some conventioneers, was on the line of,,,,,,,,
"Honey, did you pick up my card? "
"No, why would I?"
""Because I can't seemt to find it now why, that's why."

Yeppers, seeems I heard something similar to that more than once in those five days there.

Its times like this, reading all of the above that i feel like such a Disney newbie. We have never been on the dining plan, so I couldn't tell you which places are good, bad or otherwise. While I can follow along with the words, i don't think I will ever be able to sing this on my own if the karaoke TV malfunctioned. (If that made no sense at all, Don't ask, Lack of sleep means I speak in only a language I have made up in my own head.)

BUT,,,,,,

We are going back,,, and can't wait! Really looking forward to it, and hoping the food situation goes back to normal there, or, at the very least, (MOST?) , they leave dinner at least alone and we still have
counter servix meals available for us at ten at night or so.

Oh boy,,,, oh monty, monty.... you all see it by now,,,
do I leave it? Maybe only a few of you have seen it yet, I walked away for a few moments,,,,,maybe ten minutes so it could be already too late.

Boy, one more typo in that word and it would have been the grand Salami of TYPOS, but I don't think I'm having a counter ser..........meal tonight.

I would say something but this is after all a family show and I am extremely tired so anything I say here could be used against me in a court of law and since I work for the AG here in NM, probably not a good thing. So i plead the 5th.

Ok, Smidgy, Janet, Ponzi, Shawn, Buzz, ,,,,, Jamie, Brett, Rush, Cusack,, George, John, John and, and, of course, my buddy, my buddy Chanandler Bing!, you guys all keep quiet please and don't look at me in that tome of voice!

Bueler, Bueler...Fry...Fry...

What tome...I don't have tome...:cool2:

Okay. First, a little house cleaning appears to be in order...

Oh, the 7 screamy teenies were an absolute joy... really... no, honest... no... ah, who'm I trying to kid. Sorry to hear about your eye, I hope it has gotten better since your post. I would say your at an even 6 now with Dr. Nebo's diagnosis...It totally counts being that he's been through enough with his eye to know what does and doesn't work.

On a completely different topic...I've learned that our poor Colonel Potter, AKA, Harry Morgan has gone on to that great M*A*S*H in the sky. :sad1: I know the man was getting up there in age...96 to be exact...but still doesn't make it any better. He will be missed. He was a great actor.

Dang. You don't read for a month and then there is so much to catch up on. Nebo, great chapters. I think I caught up on about 7 in the past 3 days. man it was a great three days. literally the best part of my days. And for that I thank you nebo.

Sorry your days have been so rough. However, glad that Nebo brightened them up. "Dingoes won't let me near the waterhole." :lmao:

I had heard the news and immediately thought, "I've got to post this on Nebo's TR..". You guys had already obviously thought the same thing.

R.I.P Harry Morgan, thanks for the memories... such as:

Sounds like it will be a fun trip. Bet you can't wait for this one. Lady H, D'Sis and I will there the first 2 weeks of December next year. Buy you and Smidgy a drink if you decide to go during that time. Hopefully we'll have money after we do Disneyland in August.

Yes. I'm still around. I've been following along and at least keeping up this time. Funny thing when you go to work, they actually want you to do work instead of playing on the Dis all day. :sad2: Since I work on a computer all day, a lot of times when I get home I don't want to turn on the 'puter at home. I'll see if I can comment more later.

We've got the same, or similar, tree topper. Don't know why we chose that since both our upbringings didn't include angels riding trees.

I'm picturing Robert Redford dressed up as "Gabriel, The Tree Whisperer".

Nice job on the room. Not to disagree with you, but wouldn't a room that was located on the pool edge be closer? You open the door, step out, and you're wet. So, technically you could be closer, right?

I was going to suggest a room right in the pool... but that would be silly.

zebra domes... chocolatey bumps of heaven... mmmmmm...

okay, go on.

Oh my goodness. You're not going to believe me, but I totally, completely forgot about getting Zebra Domes there. I remember Diane bought some I believe and kept telling me about them "In the Fridge", but I still forgot. Wonder what did happent to them?
Crap, now I'm sad.

A savanna, or savannah, is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being sufficiently small or widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of C4 grasses. Some classification systems also recognize a grassland savanna from which trees are absent.

So I guess that’s a savannah. Hey! I got a savannah in my back yard! Cool!

And as Harry reloads his .44, Simon Cowell walks up and says "Terrific, I was afraid we were going to have to waste a "save" on her.

From the Enforcer, "Marvelous."

:rotfl:I had to ask!

You mean like…

Zebra domes…

mmmm……………

Something else I never got that I like from there,,, these things called something like Falafells.
I've gotten them from Boma's and just loved them, kinda like what we call hush puppies, kinda like corn fritters,,, I called them Tater Tots with a kick!

Yeah, whatever. Did you know you can get zebra domes there???????

You're trying to make me cry, aren't you?

Don’t remember the Viceroys… maybe ‘cause I never smoked. But as for the rest? ::yes::

that's really a shame about you not having smoked, you don't know all you've missed!
All the good times, it really didn't cost much and I can't believe they are still trying to convince folks that smoking is unhealthy, howlame is that? Hey, you only live once, I say GO FOR IT, don't want to be a wuss, do you?

I"m trying out for "Mayhem" when Allstate expands to the tobacco industry.

A dingo stole my baby. (said with strong Aussie accent)

the dingo subject looks familiar, it's from a real like incident isn't it that was made into a movie or something?

Nope. Not buying it. Smidgy liked your joke? You’ve told some whoppers in the past, but this? Shame.

Yeah, you're right, she was just trying to get away for a while.

Gotta stop lying. ‘Liked your joke’, indeed!

Ok, ok, geesh!

And now I’m seeing a competition with your neighbour where an ever-growing pile of dead love bugs is shuttled from balcony to balcony. Sort of like a slow motion tennis match of decaying bugs.

Na, that never happened. For that matter, never once saw anyone out there ever, they were GREAT neighbors! I think they were dead.

Confession time.

Ok, cool, hold on a minute, let me go and get in my little room and put on my confessional fishing hat.
Ok, resume.

Forgive me father, for I have sinned: The first time we took the kids, we stayed at POR. DW said, “What about this AKL place?” I said no, ‘cause it was too far away. Gotta pick a more central location. But now… I’m starting to wonder for next time… hmmm…. I mean how bad could the busses really be? Does it really make that much of a difference???

My son, knowledge, and especially lack of knowledge itself, is no excuse for relenting to temptation. While you are saying the required 7 Hail Mary passes and writing "I will not make fun of Nebo in class" 500 times, I will attempt to educate you;

Throw out the MK resorts which include WL, GF, CR, FW and Aunt Polly.
No matter which of the other resorts you stay at, the MK will be the longest drive. It is this very reason that makes stayiing at a MK or Monorail resort so brutal, now, EVERYWHERE is far, only the MK is close and nearby.

Generally, CBR and CSR are the most centrally located, at least driving wise. I know you'll think I'm nuts since they are not near each other, but they are both on the same main road, and the 3 other parks and two water parks and DD and the Boardwalk area are ALL an easy drive from those resorts.

The Epcot resorts, Swan and Dolph lundgren, Boardwalk and Park Place and Yacht and Beach Blanket Bingo are a bit more "centrally, geographically located, but they are now on a separate cul de sac road which only goes to just the resorts, so that can be a bit of an out of the way distraction.

Even though POP is way down there, it too has decent enough drve times to the resorts, yeah, like the All stars and AKL, it can seem like foreever to get ot Magic Kingdom,
but it feels that way from any resort other than the Poly, GF or CR. And I have waited 40 minutes for the "simple" boat ride over to MK from WL,,, which, by the way, you can not see the fireworks from.
Por and FQ are probably the longes drive times for averaging out all the drives to the parks. P O is in the NE section, more turns, more left turns, more lights.

However AKL is near the bottom of my Disney satisfaction list of busses,,,, CBR and CSR is at top, with the All stars just behind them, mainly cuz when coming back to the resorts at night, the resorts are close enough so we'll grab any of the busses and walk the rest of the way.

ok, you about done writing yet? Good. And before you leave, don't forget to tip your Padre'.

Way to go Smidgy! :) Ok, you can let go of the railing now. Smidgy? You can let go... She's still there, isn't she?

:lmao::lmao: I didn't notice what a grip she had on it!

Uh, oh. I’ve a feeling this ain’t gonna be pretty…

Oh! How nice! A shout out… hey, wait just a second!

I gave you another, very lame, very obscure "whisper out" if you will earlier in the chapter, I was just wondering if anybody would catch it but i did think you might though. It's by the pics I took of the birds by the pool and that' all i'm gonna say.
You will look at it and read it any smack yourself in the forehead, then you will realize that I'm the one that really needs a good smacking!

Hello?

Gotta think ‘wildcard’.

I don't think Mr. Drucker has Mr. Haney's address on his mailing list.
Maybe we can sign Mr. Kimball instead? And no, not Richard, or even Doctor.

Well that’s good, because:
1. Now we have another TR to look forward to after this one.
2. Having a spring trip in winter is just silly.

3. probably not on number 1. I'm looking forward to something different on a trip report, and that would be by going with Jackson and Todd and Kim. Believe it or not, Smidgy and I have done it before.

Thank you. However, I may be hoity but I do not think of myself as toity.

well, ok, if you're really sure....

I always find it interesting how many people here on the DIS, DISpise free dining. We thought it was great.

Yes and no, it can and may not be.
Pros,,,,,eat where you normally wouldn't
try new stuff you normally wouldn't
don't worry about the menu costs
It's like being on a cruise, you will gain weight, nothing wrong with doing that on vacation.

Cons;;;;
You have to make your reservations way, way, way early in advance,,, doesn't matter if you are on the plan or not,,others will be and tables will be booked,, even if hou only want one lousy sit down dinner the whole trip,,,,, you may still be SOL because of the dining plan.

Yoou will now become a slave to you schedule, it was bad enough before with having to know what park to go to for each day because of parade times and fireworks times and which days have EMH when,,,, now you have to throw in your dinner reservations too, it's getting more stressful by the moment!

Free dining in not free anymore.
What's a meal at Le Cellier without the cheddar cheese soup? oh oh, that's an appetizer, not included, that'l cost you. '
Tipls arent included anymoer either, they used to be, another big con.
The price. It's gotten ridiculous. If you get just eh qs plan, you had better do the math and plan some of the more extravagant counter sevice meals there are or you will end uop getting your butt kicked by the end of the stay menetarilly wise.

I went from loving it to hating it back to likeing it. I really only like it now because it's just been her and me, and we have now seen everything so much, there's no real need to rush pell mell to the next big thing.

This is another one that didn’t make the cut. I wavered a long time between POR or CSR. I know both have their fans. What finally did it for me was this.
CSR just seemed too big. i.e. what if we’re way off in the boonies? Makes for a loooong walk.
Pepper Market did not appeal at all. Especially when there’s me and three fussy eaters.
Didn’t like the idea of possibly being stuck with a zillion convention goers.

Conventions usually mean nothing but goo things for the average vacaioner at CSR.

the only bad time is when a meeting lets out and they all hit the fooe court at the same time, but this in not a common occurance from our experience.
What Convention DO usually mean though, is that the rooms are booked, but the bus stops are empty cuz nobody has time to go to the parks.

Pools are less full too since there are reletively few kids, maybe the hot tub at night can see some action.
No, do not let conventions in any way mix with your views of Pop Warner or the Brazillian gropes.

Did not know that… and now it looks like I might not have needed to find out!

Yeah, got my eye an that, I'm watchin' always watchin'"

Hey! At least you’re going! Go eat at Flame Tree every day. Sheesh!

You know, I could eat at Flame Tree every day!

I’m sure they’ll have counter… um… okay… I just won’t mention it. It’s not like he coupled that with talk about wieners or salami or anything. Just let it go…

Few, for a minute I was afraid you were going to say it was dialated up to ten percent now....

Who? Moi? Wouldn’t dream of it.

Thank Ponzi,,, for waiting, great comments,,, I'm all confused right now, which I've read and commented on,,, I haven't even read em all yet.
like Buzz here, I think I talked aout this, but maybe not...

Nebo, your last chapter was terrific! I laughed until I cried. The persistent, perky, know-it-all yellow jacket, the POTC interior of Mara but aptly described as dingos at the waterhole, the lovebugs. I just couldn't stop laughing! I hate lovebugs. Back in late September 2010, we encountered them in mass at AK and DD was freaked out by the er, committed little buggers. I have dined at Jiko before so my experience at AKL is limited to the evening hours, but it was just breathtaking from what I saw. I would love to stay there at some point.

Buzz, September and May are the worst, with september worse than May.
Never saw a single one last Dec. at Pop, but that could be vecause the penguins had eaten most of them.

Hurray! You have another trip right around the corner. And la-la-la(fingers in ears and eyes covered), there is no way that I saw that you would not consider doing a TR for it. Come on Nebo, your TRs are like vikes for your readers. WE MUST HAVE THEM!!!! Yes, you are Smidgy are the constants, but you know that it is who and what you encounter that make your TRs gold. It is blasphemy for you to say you won't likely do a TR. Creepy Jesus won't like that Nebo.....he's watching you!! ;)

I thought the creepy Jesus was well known? Nobody else has heard him?

So, yes, we are doing this Christmas trip up. I'm going to warn you that APs are like Disney crack, you will always be trying to justify a quick trip, especially if the drive isn't too long. We are leaving this weekend, but we are not doing the DP. We are using TIW and I was able to snag a great AP rate at BC and WL so we are doing a split stay, in the vein of Nebo/Smidgy. I am so excited! I mean I think I get more excited than the kids. They don't know yet, but they are going to be stoked. We are doing everything you and Smidgy suggested, plus I am going to ride POTC and in the queue I am going to close my eyes and trust DH to lead me around so I can experience the queue Nebo style. pirate: You know Nebo,I'm quite sure we will be talking about you frequently on the trip.

Buzz, if you mentioned it before and i forgot, well, sorry, but how far of a drive is it for you? And for howm any daysnow? I like to match up what some people think is worth it to my own ideas of what's worth it.
For example, I no longer will drive all the way down for a Disney vacation for only a 7 night stay,,,, it has to be at least 8 to make it worth it.

but we will probably soon be in your boat,,, if all holds true we'll upgrade to annual passes for the first time in our life when we get there in the end of April,,,, and I know me, I'm gonna wanna see how many days I can slip into a 365 day year of AP.

Did I understand correctly, two trips or more next year?? One in the spring and one later with Jackson and family? Wonderful! Can’t wait to read what you have to say about flying to Orlando.

I am so sorry about Robin. She left a DIS Legacy! :grouphug:

Thanks to pkondz for the tribute to Harry Morgan. Brought tears to my eyes.

So, is 2012 going to be the record breaking year for number of days at Disney? I am jealous!

I agree. I didn't think it was any longer than other chapters. Then again, when I'm enjoying a good read, long becomes short. Know what I mean?

I completely agree! I've never thought "wow this chapter is too long" or "dang Nebo... what's with all the pictures?"... why have I never thought this.. because instead I'm thinking "Dang... he should have added some more funny stuff to brighten my day" or "wish he would add more pictures so we can "experience" the trip more".
But mainly it's... he never gets the GREAT shots of Smidgy... after he does something that is making us all :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:... and Smidgy is the brunt of it. I'd  to see just ONE quick snap of the face she gives you after you try to dump cold water on her with a noodle.

Enough of me... where's the next chapter?

Oh no, oh my goodness I hate to hear this. I too loved to read her writing, and when she had to leave here I still read her stuff, I followed her and she was funny as ever!! I followed along while she and Del renovated that trailer, oh that was funny stuff!! Oh her poor family, what a presence she was for them, oh my heart goes out to them.... may God hold them and comfort them now.

~Dawn

Nebo, I didnt know Del's wife any more than you did, just read her reports. Such a sad loss for sure.
I totally forgot that I posted LY/MI to you lol. But I have to say, I mean it more now than ever.

I'm so excited you are going for another trip soon, the more fodder to keep the hordes satisfied, LOL.

This doesn't seem right, does it? No, it doesn't.
How can somebody who loved Disney like the rest of us, not be one of the rest fo us anymore? I have always had a hard time with this kind of existentialism,,,,and the older I get, the worse i get at it. I still think that when we pull out of the parking lot to go home at the end of a trip, the parks and resorts shouls all shut down except for some maintenance work. But how can somebody that could and would take the time to make us laugh, how can she die?
Well, I don't like it, I don't get it, and I really hate how helpless we all are against it.

Well we survived the game...I say that in terms of me and Mr. T...I don't think the Raiders survived, or for that matter showed up to the game. :headache:

had one of them games, did you? My Bears scored a whopping total of 3 points against the Cheifs!

I live vicariously through your trips, because we have yet to stay onsite at Disney. Hopefully one of these trips we will find a good deal to do so, until then, I will live through you and Smidgy.

Hope fully, we can all stay at the same resort at the same time. I can tell you guys are used to staying in studios and suites typw places, so you propaly won't be happy at a value resort, but please, spend a bit extra and book a DVC through the Dis,,,, you can still stay at Boardwalk or Jambo House for half the Disney rack rate.

And,,,,,,, and this is a big and,,,,,,, I said, this is a big AND

For never staying on site before, I think your best choices are DVC resorts that have been given birth from regular Disney deluxe resorts.

The bus cervix is much expanded, the resorts amentities are also expanded for DVC type usage, and most of all, you will really feel like you are staying right in the middle of the magic, which is exactly what you will be.

My top choices are Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas,Boardwalk View,,,, AKLVillas, Jambo House,,, yes, Jambo House over Kidani Village, ane even Wilderness Lodge Villas,,, but you had better like dense trees as you vies, cuz that's probably what you are going to get.

Saratoga and Old Key West,,,, we have visited,, not stayed at though. They are nice, plenty big and spread out, walk to DD from SSR,,, but have heard the Busses not so frequent,,,,,and a bit lacking in the Pixie Dust department I guess. But I'd still stay there before I'd stay off site again.

I can't wait for that trip report, That will for sure be filled with a whole new experience through the eyes of a child.

Yeah, me too,,, however, probably not gonn do a may report,,,,I'll need a break, plus won't be enought time to come right back with an August report.
Simme down Marita,,:lmao: look at it this way, anything funny that happens in May, I will find a way to slide back, or at the very least, do a "wavy dream sequence flashback" that will get the inicident covered, for sure.

Trust me, I'm not leaving any good material lying there for somebody else to pick up just cuz I'm not doing a current trip report on it!

Besides, I don' t think this report will ever come to an end, since I seem to have forgotten how to move it along between chapters and get back to writing a new chapter!:rotfl2:

Where's Ponzi with the mental image we all need for this?!

Well, well, well,, a cry for help. Well my Southwestern Lady H, it would appear your Superhero is still having his supercape redone at the tailors, bu t don't worry, the next emergency that comes along, he will be right on it, with his Photobucket or Photoshop or Bozo'sBucket or whatever it is he is having recharged on his Atari 2600. Or his Commodore 64.

Lady H, made perfect sense to me, May I paraphrase your metaphor?
As familiar of a Disney Vet that you are, you doubt that you could do the driving yourself if somebody took away your GPS.

Everytime I think I pretty much have and know it all, there is always something right around the corner I still need to learn about. Just recently it was all about learning to Bridgy your tickets int Annual Passes,,,, dere's a lot mo baby den meats da eye!

I would say something but this is after all a family show and I am extremely tired so anything I say here could be used against me in a court of law and since I work for the AG here in NM, probably not a good thing. So i plead the 5th.

Well, doesn't matter, I'm also tired today/night, and it's already been said, so I guess I'm going down by myself,,,,,,,,and the guy that tried to kill both Jack Dawson and Det. Riggs from Lethal Weapon. And, just for the record, that was my favorite Lethal Weapon movie,,,,Lethal Weapon 2.

I hated it when they killed Patsy Kensit in that movie, she was just an incredible actress with the cutest ,,, dimples, yeh, that's it. Ok, for a Rock band roadie turned groupie turned performer turned actress,,,,,,, I thought she did a great job,,, why did they have to go an drown her?

Oh, but 166 episodes of Roseanne later, not once did John Goodman get the "Bathtub accident" idea once in his useless mind.

Or Polar Ice Cap!

Sorry to hear about your eye, I hope it has gotten better since your post. I would say your at an even 6 now with Dr. Nebo's diagnosis...It totally counts being that he's been through enough with his eye to know what does and doesn't work.

Yeah Ponz,, what's up with that?

On a completely different topic.

Here? a different topic here? Gowonn,,,, geddout!

..I've learned that our poor Colonel Potter, AKA, Harry Morgan has gone on to that great M*A*S*H in the sky. :sad1: I know the man was getting up there in age...96 to be exact...but still doesn't make it any better. He will be missed. He was a great actor.

Oh Geesh, that's right. I walked throug the room and saw his picture on tv, and kinda figured that's what happened, but today I started reading the paper back to front, and I haven't gotten there yet. Thanks for bringing that up.

For sure! And don't forget Nebo's grandkids, too! :rotfl2:

I had no doubt that somebody was going to jump on the "seeing Disney through the eye s of a child line. Crap, that's the first think I thought of too.

Hey Bob, just in case it snows Tuesday, you busy? I gets to be the lucky dude and go for another distemper shot.
Funny thing is, this injection does not do a single positive thing for mey temper, except make it worse!

Dang. You don't read for a month and then there is so much to catch up on. Nebo, great chapters. I think I caught up on about 7 in the past 3 days. man it was a great three days. literally the best part of my days. And for that I thank you nebo.

Oh boy, how exciting! You hold off long as you can, then you crack and now you have a whole nights worth of reading your favorite fictictional character. I rembember feeling that way when my mom would bring me home a brand new Hardy Boy book for me, "The Rooster Crowed at 3:45."
Yeah, it was that stupid Indiana time zone thing going on even back then when they all just throw all the court room clocks in Indianoplace in the street out in front of the courthouse, then they do the same thing for all the clocks in the only courthouse they have in Fowler Indiana.

When all the clocks are done bouncing around, somebody records all the times on the faces of the broken clocks and sends this information over to somebody smart, across the border into Cairo,,,,, Illinois,, who averages all the broken clock times out and they then start from there.

It is currently 10 o'clock as we speak her in CDST,,,,,ok, ok
that is, "Carpentersville, da smart time," but right now, it is 11:22 in Indianoplace and Fowler, Indiana.

Sorry your days have been so rough. However, glad that Nebo brightened them up. "Dingoes won't let me near the waterhole." :lmao:

Ok, now, you all know how incredibly perceptive I can be at times, is this one of them? I am perceptiving a momma being incredibley facetious to her living daughter, and I really don't think the dingos had a darn thing to do with it!

When I first thought of and read some of the quotes from Colonel Potter, I immediately thought about that one episode that you also have included in here. Dang, that was great stuff, how often does a sit com in the seventies start making you cry, when nobody really, has died?

"Here's to you, boys.
To Ryan, who died in W.W.I, the war to end all wars.
To Gianelli, who died in the war after that.
To Stein, the joker of the crowd.
And to Gresky, my best friend who just passed away in Tokyo.
You were the friends of my youth.
My comrades through thick and thin and everything in between.
I drink to your memories.
I loved you fellows, one and all."

Whoo Hoo. A future TR.

Mike, I totally understand, that last thing I wasnted to do when I got home from work was fire up a Harrisong engine lathe or a Bridgeport Mill in the living room after work when I was watching tv, it was so hard to hear the tv!

Hey y'all, I realize this last week was a major jumbled up mess, I was all over the place with the callouts, so, if I ended up missing you, ya, feel free to yell at me, I don't like issing stuff either,,, but I haven't even started yet on the next chapter, and just between you and me, I got nothin'. I mean I have been as descriptive as I can be about everything,,,,but now,,,,,,????
Oh, what I'd give to have the "tie the shoe lace around the belt" incident again to write about! Yeah, Lightning never strikes twice when you want it to.

Guten nacht!

Oh, what I'd give to have the "tie the shoe lace around the belt" incident again to write about! Yeah, Lightning never strikes twice when you want it to.

Guten nacht!

Well, you could rerun the episode. That was amazingly funny! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Just a suggestion...

That’s the way I feel about recess too.
How aere you with abcess?

As long as it's not done to excess.

I'll see your chlorophyll and raise you one photosynthesis.
or ninety six thesis.

Thesis getting ridiculous.

Ok, nudder cool dream most people wn't connect here from not having seen it:
A sleazeball Gaga in filthy clothes riding a freight train with a bunch scummy bikers guy who push Clint a bit too far,,,, she gives the classically stupid line to Eastwood,,,,,"You wouldn't hit a lady, would you?" Extra credit for naming this really awful movie.

small movie tag line hint,,,, "Nag, nag, nag.."

Don't think I've seen it. I googled the answer, and sure enough. Never seen it. (I know, I know, it's cheating. But I was almost positive already that I hadn't seen it)

the dingo subject looks familiar, it's from a real like incident isn't it that was made into a movie or something?

Yup. Real life. Might've been made into a TV movie... :confused3

Well, that's 100 times and I don't think the DIS would look kindly on 400 more.

Thanks for the info... we almost always take the busses. I drive enough when I'm not on holidays and really enjoy letting someone else do it. So poor busses = poor resort choice. But I'm still interested in AKL, now.

I gave you another, very lame, very obscure "whisper out" if you will earlier in the chapter, I was just wondering if anybody would catch it but i did think you might though. It's by the pics I took of the birds by the pool and that' all i'm gonna say.

Oh, man! I even quoted it when I commented on that chapter!

And as for the pros and cons of DDP... I'm a planner anyway, so I didn't mind at all planning which park we would be in = where we'd be eating. I just used the UG to decide on which park to see on a particular day and decided on a restaurant and booked it. Only had one small snag the entire trip.
