P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Hmm, must have posted that chapter last night under Caleb Hanie's screen name, or rather, our REALLY OFFENSIVE CO_ORDINATOR, Mike Martz!, that's why nobody is reading or commenting.
OH MAN WAS THAT GAME BRUTAL TODAY TO WATCH!!!
Even Mischief left and went outside to go a couple of patios down and watch the Lions game through the sliding doors at our neighbors. She still thinks she's related.

I was wondering who the new person was that was posting pictures of your wife?? :rotfl:

I didn't watch the Bears game but it couldn't have been more brutal to watch than watching my 'Skins find a new way to lose... And staying up last night to watch Va. Tech phone one in and get crucified on National TV.

Yeah, baby, we bees booked.
But of course, we wouldn't have it any other way, within 3, countem, "3" hours of booking, there is muchly controversy concerning our booking, I shall speak of shortly.
Uhoh a new adventure in the making? Gonna do another pre-trippy like this one started out as?

A pretty cool '70's movie starring Strother Martin, famous for the line, "What we have here is FAILURE to communicate", well he is, not this movie, has him dealing with an unwanted colleague in a similar way concerning a python. The bizarre name of this movie is
"SSSSSSSS".
No, not sure how many S's,,,, esses, are in the title, but I did find the movie enjoyable, well, at least until the rotten kid killed beloved Harry.

And what is it with eveybody's favorite team a TIGER? And up here we are big on Wildcats.
Guess the "Fighting Calicos", never caught on

Well, i will say my fave team is not a tiger.. College's mascot is a Monarch (a lion with a crown), but we're just finally now got a football team 3 years ago..

Ok, gonna hurt my memory banks here cuz I'm not from the exciting south,,,, but a Tiger, Tide rematch,,,,,,,, wasn't the first game an incredible shootout, non stop scoring, don't go to the bathroom, youj'll miss something and take the over, not the under.....
oh yeah, think the final score was LSU,,,,,,,9,,,, 'Bama ,,,6!

I've seen commercial on C-Span more exciting!

I'm just kidding, got nothing better to do right now cept teasy you'all.

well there were enough people campaigning for the "rematch" that it had to happen. Apparently Oklanhoma State didn't make a good enough statement last night.. It should be a good game though.. hopefully a better scoring affair than the 9-6 baseball game it was. I was watching ESPN analysts last night and they brought a good point.. with an LSU-Bama matchup.. an SEC school will finally lose the National Championship Game..

Great chapter as always.. Great pictures from your room.. As usual, you scored a great rooom with a great view.. must have a lucky horsehoe stuffed somewhere!!! I haven't had a chance to comment on it yet.. I was really hoping your new trip would be in a couple of weeks. First cup of hot cider in Ozzy's light parade would be on me!!! ;)

Oh that's right, I was going to fill you in on latest developments and I forgot.
Again.

Dang Bears,,,,,,,, Oh MAN that hurt,,, so bad, so bad, season's over, all gone, all gone, byo baby by-o, Daddy's gone a-..... I'm sorry, not myself.

Did I mention that game sucked? geesh

Ok, I,,,, we,,,, have been hoping to be able to get a spring trip in ,,,,,, well,,,,, next spring.
Yes, that's how these type of things work, if you want to take a spring trip, you usually end up having to go sometime in the spring, or, the Vernal Equinox for you hoity toity types.

But the room only code only went mid March, and Free Dining only went to end of March, which is still "Just write a blank check and we will fill in the numbers" peak, holiday season at Disney. We want regulary season,,,(after April 15, and before Mama's Day, May 13, I think).

This drops down to regular season rates, way better.

We were hoping for Free Dining which is still the best deal unless you are on a hunger strike, but I kinda doubt a free Dining extension is coming for the spring, got a feeling it's going to go back to just being in September like it was in the beginning.

Couple days ago, room only rates came out, and we ounced on them.

They are good till mid June,,,, let's see, and don't hold me to this, but I will be close...............

AS Sports and Music,,,,,, 20 % off.
Nuttin, for Movies, cept Maybe, Maybe, 5 percent off

20 % off for Riverside, but nuttin for French Quarter but maybe 5% again.

No, not bothering here right now with the deluxes, they were in the 20- 25 range, except CR which was, once again, eveybody? maybe 5%.

The most off was at SSR and OKW, as usual, 30% off over by them. Hey, for the best info on this, click on Mousesavers,, it's easier to understand than on the Dis.

What intrigued us though was the 25% off at CBR and Coronado, Now you're talkin'!

Our last stay at CSR was in Feb of '08, a 5 night stay that didn't have it's own trip report due to the ongoing report of our first December, holiday trip,, Honey I shrunk the Checkbook. The last Coronado stay was the one where we spent a couple days in Kissimmee at America's Best Value inn,,,, when our room was literally falling apart around us!

We figured it was time to hit CSR again.

We plan on flying, and doing it that way frees up a couple of extra days so we have a 10 day stay booked at Coronado, April 29 to May 9.

We are still hoping to go later in the year with son, Todd and wife Kim and finally, FINALLY, grandson Jackson!
So plan for right now is to purchase 6 day base tickets, then when we get there, bridge them into Annual Passes, this then turns our base tiks into Hopper passes too.

Doing it this way leaves us still open in case a free dining deal comes along, cuz you have to buy a park ticke to get that, and the price will be the same, we just pay the difference between a 6 day base ticket and annual pass.

Then!, we can now use the benefits of the annual passes, in case Smidgy wants to do the Richard Petty Driving experience or the Spitting Cobra Spittoon Challenge!

Now, here comes the screwy part that can only happen to us,,,, well,, that's the way I,,,, or most people would feel abbout something like this.

We really love Coro,,,, stayed there 3 times now, once in Cabanas and twice in Casitas, but it's a place that you had either best be on the dining plan, or never plan on eating at the resort itself, or drive down and bring your own food.

While the choices at the food court are definately "interesting", the choices are also interestingly "High",,,, PLUS, they add and extra ten percent tip automatically if you eat there, but if you're on the dining plan, then all is ok.

Since we chose CSR, and we are flying down, for the first time in our lives we are doing what I have always wanted to do, and that is to get just the quick service dining plan.

Well, to be hones, it's what I really wanted to do a year or two ago.
Now, since you have to pay for a mug that comes with it,
even the QSDP costs way too much to me, it's 35 a night, per person.

But at CSR, you WILL recoup the cost if you plan things well;
they have steaks and ribeyes and pork chop meals over 20 bucks there, that fall into the counter sercice category.
If you couple that with, oh, say, Flame tree BBQ RIBS :rolleyes1, places like Wolfgang Puck and their Meatloaf hockey pucks,,,Sunshing Seasons and other of the more higher to the buyer, the hoity to the toity, or the rootin' to the tootin" of the Dining Plan users, you can still get your money's worth.

Anyeay,,,,, I'm looking forward to it!
"Oh boy, finally the quick service plan, don't have to set it in stone, dominate the schedule,,, and if I choose wisely, I can get the triple chocolate cake for deserts and snacks every day!

What can go wrong?

My euphoria lasted 3 and a half hours.

Looking at the restaurants and confirmed snacks,,,, and menu threads right here on our beloved DIS,,,,,,,,,,

I came across a thread ,,,, brand,,,,, spanking new thread
i should add,,,,,, that spaketh of possible changes to
Pepper Market at Coronado Springs.

This was all November 30, and it said that on the 4th, today, Pepper Market will cease their usual service for breakfast and dinner, and become Buffet's for those two meals until at least Jan. 4, A one month trial period.

Breakfast is 15 per person,,,,, lunch is 17 per person, dinner is supposed to stay as is.

For now.

The regular Maya Grill, the fance eatery there which we have eaten at once and liked,, will no longer be oopen for THEIR own breakfast buffet, and will have a revised menu.

But these buffets are staying as counter service credits for now.

Ok, the DINING PLAN contract is about to expire with all parties involved, how many of you believe that Pepper Market will offer Break and Lunch buffets as counter service meal credits,,, value prices?

This is a trial,,,, uh uh,,, the chance I think is zero it stayhing counter service credit prices, which means we are SOL!

They say they are going to add items to Cafe RIx,,,,,,, which seats 50,,,,,but c'mon, there are over 1900 rooms there, perpper Market as a counterservice as it was wasn't big enough,,, and evne though you can get sandwiches at Siestas with fries,,,, it always closes early at 6:30 for food, so that won't work.

Which brings us to me not being happy.
I can't believe it, finally book a trip I was looking forward to for a long time, and NOW, NOW, they have to go and change porridge!

Just about everybody thinks that Pepper Market has been searching for it's own identity for a long time,,,, and with the current Disney Dining deal about to expire, they are willing to try "whatever", to make some money for a change.

No, what I think, it's not run by Disney and I think too many people there are working harder on stealing identities than they are of creating new identities.

This is run by the same company that runs the Mexico Pavillion in Epcot, San Angel Inn,,, and et al,,,but obviously priorities will shift. I got the feeling that previously they were more focused on stealing identities rather than building new ones at Pepper Market.

Even back in 08', that kinda cold Feb trip for only 5 days,
it seemed like the mantra I heard more thatn once from what I was positive was some conventioneers, was on the line of,,,,,,,,
"Honey, did you pick up my card? "
"No, why would I?"
""Because I can't seemt to find it now why, that's why."

Yeppers, seeems I heard something similar to that more than once in those five days there.

BUT,,,,,,

We are going back,,, and can't wait! Really looking forward to it, and hoping the food situation goes back to normal there, or, at the very least, (MOST?) , they leave dinner at least alone and we still have
counter servix meals available for us at ten at night or so.

Oh boy,,,, oh monty, monty.... you all see it by now,,,
do I leave it? Maybe only a few of you have seen it yet, I walked away for a few moments,,,,,maybe ten minutes so it could be already too late.

Boy, one more typo in that word and it would have been the grand Salami of TYPOS, but I don't think I'm having a counter ser..........meal tonight.

Anyway, dat's our trip, a ten nighter at CSSR, we have never stayed in the Ranchos,,,,ok,, we would LIKE to stay in building 7B. That is our request, 7B,,,,, and that is it!
Not 7A, not 6A, not 6B, not 6 to leave.
7 B is our calling, or Diane will be bawling, but we'll see what they say, ,,, we'd accept that 9-A.

Anyway, there you have it,, I don't like this. I don't like thow they went and messed with it just, and only, because we went and booked it late that morning.

Anybody out there with more info, please help us here, I just want to know if maybe we should switch over to CBR again? Mamacitamarita? Do you know if these meals will stay counter service?
Or will even the dinner meal go to a table service buffet, and then, what in the world will the whole resort do for much needed counterservice?

Again, never had a 2 counter service meal a day deal before, and thought that maybe I'd be actually able to eat in the morning for a change, rather than be forced to always have to take vicodin instead.

Ok, Smidgy, Janet, Ponzi, Shawn, Buzz, ,,,,, Jamie, Brett, Rush, Cusack,, George, John, John and, and, of course, my buddy, my buddy Chanandler Bing!, you guys all keep quiet please and don't look at me in that tome of voice!

Most people think it will become something similar in a way to Boma's, eventually,,,,,,,, but as for simple counter service fair that you can get after 7 at night,,,,, or cold dusty ciabatta or whatever those pre-made things that look like they were garnished and sprinkled with dry-wall dust to give the resort that "still preparing for the big opening day coming up soon" feeling,

Wow, my little snide, "comment' turned into a Phillibuster, which is what I always called this kinda rambling, named after my old boss at work, but, we really are both looking to stay back at CSR, we don't need to bug our acquantances for DVC points, haven't stayed here since I was almost panicky looking for work in 08', and,,,
o yeah, our last stay here was when we found Vista Del lago, where we really want to live.

Ok doke, ni ni,,,,,,,,,tis I , neb

But an awesome crib mobile!

One of the bigger ones I caught was across the back, but it was still alive. DD10 didn't want me to kill it! Umm... honey? It's pretty much dead already, I'm just putting it out of its misery. For the rest of the day I was known as 'The Mouse Killer'. :sad2:

Friends of Mickey's? Oh, boy, are you in trouble.

Face it, holding your nose coming down a weenie slide? You may as well have the "water wings " on as well.

The picture this brings to mind is giong to brighten my Monday at work.

Fool that I am, I'm at a self serve station, what I really needed here is the old fashioned "full serve" type that most of you don't even remember.

There was a time you would actually pull up to a pump, a man in a uniform would run over to you and you would take your time rolling down your window and then tell him "Yeah, um, let's see now, um,,, oh,, ok, I guess give me 5 bucks of regular, no, make it six. Oh, and check the oil too, ok? And I think that left rear tire might be low, can you check that out for me? And don't forget the two packs of Viceroy.

Every word of the above paragraph was the old norm, that was the way it really was.

"Fill it up with regular, please, and would you check the front passenger tire?" I remember those days with great fondness.

What? Touchdown Saints? Okay!

As for college football, Nebo, you give me way too much credit. Since I moved here 7 years ago, I have been following pro football more, and it's hard to ignore LSU when they're having such a great year (also, it's fun to make fun of the Alabama alum in the office).
I won the fantasy football league last year, but it's not that difficult for someone who does research for a living. I haven't done my homework this year and my team is pretty close to the bottom in the league. Who has the time? I can follow Nebo... or I can maintain a fantasy team. :confused3

okay, quick blurb.
Flashback to Thursday morning. Spent a few quality hours at the local medical clinic. Friday morning spent a few more hours at the hospital. Friday night into Saturday morning. DD10 has 6 friends over for early birthday sleepover party (note to self... never again). Saturday night work. Sunday morning back at the hospital for a few more hours....

Sorry, man. I'm just too tired to comment right now. I will, promise.

Have fun rooting for Ray Garrity, but whatch out for Stebbins.

All that time playing with nurses and doctors... well, okay, sitting and waiting to play with nurses and doctors? Finished Long Walk... didn't care for the ending but did like the rest. Kept wondering how it would all end. That darned Stebbins almost got me.

"we plan on flying"....really? This is all the mention it gets? No aluminum tube of death? That seems to be being downplayed a little here...something tells me this gets a little more press time the closer this new trip gets.

Another trip planned is great news!! And with more family, that's great!!

So now this trip report will also include another Pre trip report!! Just more good news for us nebo fans. :cool1:

Sounds painful, and not just the half dozen screaming 10-year-olds. I hope everything is alright.

What I'm especially loving about being a stow away on this trip is reading about the different resorts and the awesome review we're getting. I've read plenty "The beds are..." and "the food court is..." but this is so great! I feel like I'm there with you!

By the way, '... The dingos wouldn't let me near the watering hole' had me laughing outloud!

Thanks for the fun!

YAY! We stayed at CSR back last fall (2010) and I really loved it. I thought it was the most centrally located of all of the resorts and the rooms were great too. I need to look up where we stayed because I cannot remember but it was PERFECT. Steps to the pool and a few more step the other way to a bus stop. Not to mention a large percentage of the guests there are for conventions and not going to the parks...which means we never had a crowded bus.

And I am shocked you are flying! I was looking forward to reading about the ride down and seeing how the Santa Fe survived the drive again ;)

OK, I looked. We were in Cabanas 8a, gound floor corner room. Right out the front door was the main walkway taking you to the main pool striaght ahead or el centro to the left. The bus stop was sort of behind us to the right but close too.

Very well then, you still have your priorities in order. Youknow, maybe we can start Fantasy Trip Report Leagues. You would draft frequent DIS posters, then come up with an entirely new scoring system... 6 points per incident if blood is drawn,, 1 point per little airplane bottle smuggled into MK, 3 points for fuzzy cups,

okay, quick blurb.

Ok, what gives with the hospitals? Since you haven't offered any info on this i'm forced to refrain and hold back and and all good lines, so come on, out with it! Then we will determine if it's time to spin the big sympathy wheel.

Yeah, I've never liked the Alfred Hitchcock type ending either, oh well, whatchagonnado?

Oh, we are way too early still in the planning stages, could end up driving yet afterall.
Hey, won'tbe any major cold weather, and it's befrore hurricaje season as well, I nice typical road trip down like in olded days would be very nice in my eyes, that's if I have still have eyes that still work.

But it's not until the second trip next year that will be with Todd and Kimmy and Jackson, we are hoping for very early August, since she's a teacher.

Another trip planned is great news!! And with more family, that's great!!

We'll see as usual concerning trip reports, probably skip the April one, but look forward to doing one with new characters and new lines. New blood, if you will.

Hmm, there's a chance that line may not be taken in the right sense of my thought.

SLAM!

Yeah, now I'm pretty sure it wasn't taken in the right sense of my thought.

Okay. First, a little house cleaning appears to be in order...

Ok, what gives with the hospitals? Since you haven't offered any info on this i'm forced to refrain and hold back and and all good lines, so come on, out with it! Then we will determine if it's time to spin the big sympathy wheel.

Sounds painful, and not just the half dozen screaming 10-year-olds. I hope everything is alright.

Oh, the 7 screamy teenies were an absolute joy... really... no, honest... no... ah, who'm I trying to kid. Between the birthday girl locking herself in the bathroom, "Daddy, <sob> they're not listening to me!" To the guest crying in the bedroom, to the absolute pandemonium which let up around 2:30 am... yeah... good times.

As for me, more of an annoyance than anything. Although I was a bit concerned there for a while. I noticed a bit of redness and swelling under my left eye on Wednesday. Thursday morning it was a bit worse so I moseyed over to the local clinic (I never sashay to a clinic. I either mosey or poke along). The doctor decides it's an infection and prescribes an antibiotic and a cream. "If it gets worse, come back."

The next day, the swelling and redness are more pronounced but not too much worse. Cue the 17 hours of screaming, crying girls.

Saturday morning I can hardly open my eye, the swelling's so bad. I decide (with DW's prompting) to go to the urgent care clinic at the hospital (plus, that's where the eye specialists are). The doctor takes a look and says I'm on the right pills, can he see the cream? "Oh, no. This cream is absolutely wrong I'll give you a prescription for another. Come back if it gets worse, but by tonight you should see improvement."

Sunday morning. It's worse. Back to urgent care. I'm called to the examining room. A woman who I assume is the doctor examines my eye and advises me that I almost certainly have shingles. She then goes on at great length how shingles show up in various places on your body, etc. Crap! I've got shingles! A few minutes later a doctor walks in and says, "Well it's definitely not shingles, because... blah, blah, blah. You've either got preorbital edema or @!#%*thisis. If it's @!#%*thisis it could be aggressive so we'll treat it with IV antibiotics. After that, we'll leave it up to you. If it gets worse, come back tomorrow for another round, otherwise, bye bye."

Okay. I have no idea who the first person was that said I had shingles... maybe housecleaning? :confused3

Monday morning. Still very swollen, but the redness is smaller... but it's darker. What does that mean? Back to urgent care. Hmmm... let's see, this makes doctor #4. So, doc, what is this? "Oh, that's just cellulitis." (Great, 4 doctors, 4 different diagnosis) "We'll give you anoter round of IV antibiotic and that should do the trick."

Sigh. Whatever. My face hasn't fallen off yet, so that's a plus, right? I'm really considering going to the emergency room of another hospital, just to see if I could get another diagnosis. Maybe I'll go for an even half dozen!

Anyway, I don't think your chapter was all that long.. just maybe 1 or 2 more pictures than usual? I dunno... didn't seem that long to me.

I agree. I didn't think it was any longer than other chapters. Then again, when I'm enjoying a good read, long becomes short. Know what I mean?

Thanks for more great updates! I'm glad you get to go back in April! CSR looks beautiful. We had toyed with doing QSDP there too, with Pepper Market, but then Free Dining came out, so we did POFQ instead. I'll be watching to see what happens with the Dining Plan and the Pepper Market buffet. I agree, I can't imagine a resort that size without a true QS place. Time will tell, I guess. I CAN see the buffet working well for convention guests, though.

Whoops and uh oh, fraid I did it again.

Now hold on just a second! No fair taking advantage of me not having Photoshop! I so would have put your head on Britney Spears body from that video! Aaaaarrrggghhhh!

Boy, have we got the Holiday spirit going on here:

Diane hung a picture of Jesus that she got from her dad, but after a couple of weeks, I asked her if we can take it down, and she agreed. Why? You ask?

We call it Creepy Jesus, and it is!
Sometimes when you look at it, his eyes are open, and other times the eyes are closed.
I don't want my Jesus pictures to have special effects.

What? Is it some kind of hologram picture or something? Or do we need to get the Vatican involved? I once had a chocolate pudding that looked like the Black Madonna of Montserrat. I mentioned it to DW who said to just go ahead and eat it since she peaked with 'Material Girl'. So I did.

Mmmm.... pudding...

On top of that, we have our tree up now, including a lighted angel
at the top.
It's lit up from the inside, but it's also holding a long, candlelike mini light in each hand.

We've got the same, or similar, tree topper. Don't know why we chose that since both our upbringings didn't include angels riding trees.

Ok, for tonight we got a really big shewww, a lot of pictures
so let's get started.

Okay, Mr. Sullivan.

We walkded out the room, eight steps later made a right, eight steps later we pushed the button for the elevator.

She pressed one and we'll see what happens.

I would've pressed the other one, just to see what else would happen.

The doors opened, and now we are not in a long corridor of rooms, but right around the corner is a door leading out to the pool. We couldn't be any closer.

Nice job on the room. Not to disagree with you, but wouldn't a room that was located on the pool edge be closer? You open the door, step out, and you're wet. So, technically you could be closer, right?

I was going to suggest a room right in the pool... but that would be silly.

We passed Mara,

Wait. Wait. Stop.

Zebra domes....

mmmmmmmm.....

zebra domes... chocolatey bumps of heaven... mmmmmm...

....

okay, go on.

I'm guessing it's only about 11 in the morning, things had gone very smooth, very efficient.

I was waiting for the next line to be, "too smooth, too efficient." followed by some calamity. But no. No calamity. Not even a plain Jane... Sorry, aluminum tube of death Jane.

There, in this small area recessed in bushes, is an un-occupied table, with 2 lungers in front of it!
Seemed too good to be true.

That’s the way I feel about recess too.

It felt like swimming in algae, flotsam and bacterium.

However, I"m guessing enough people complained about it, and the pool is now back to traditional blue. I pointed it out to Smidgy and she agreed it was much better this way.

I can hear it now, “Excuse me, Mr. Lifeguard? I think your pool needs to be cleaned. It’s all green”
“No, ma’am. That’s how it’s supposed to look.”
“Did you hear that Harold? He says it’s supposed to be like that!”
“Don’t you believe it for a minute honey chile. If God wanted pools to be green he would’ve invented chlorophyll.”

The layout here is kind of strange by the pool, you see the pool has rings.

No, not bathtub rings, that only comes after Pop Warner is here,

:lmao:

I'm walking along, taking pictures of what seemed cool to me. After the sterile, hospital style environment of CR and BLT, just about anything right now seems cool to me.

They looked like cool bushes and plants to me.

Whoa. Dude. Plants. Gnarly.

Eventually I made it to the savannah viewing area, which is just really a bird spot, with a pond, see?

139.jpg

A savanna, or savannah, is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being sufficiently small or widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of C4 grasses. Some classification systems also recognize a grassland savanna from which trees are absent.

So I guess that’s a savannah. Hey! I got a savannah in my back yard! Cool!

There was a time I never would have complained about loud music, ever, but I am not up on today's music in the slightest, I still hate rap, and think the rest of it is just crap,
with the queen of crap on top, Lady Gagme.

Dirty Harry saves the day. “Do ya feel lucky Gaga? Well? Do ya?”

Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?

By the way, off topic for a second but how many mascots or icons does Geico need? They have the Rod Serling impersonator, the gecko lizard, and the stupid Caveman, I don't get it.

Really? With the average attention span of today’s hooked in, internet connected, ipad/iphone/crackberry wielding… Ah, shoot. I lost you already, didn’t I? Oh, look! A cute lizard!

What I don't understand is why I get a snootfull every time I hit the water coming down a slide now unless I hold my nose, this didn't use to happen.
But now, as soon as I hit the water my nose acts like the hood scoop on a '57 Chevy.

When you had hair, you were slowed down by air friction, thus avoiding the snoot scoop. Now you are much more aerodynamic and pick up that much more speed… hence. ’57 Chevy.

Face it, holding your nose coming down a weenie slide? You may as well have the "water wings " on as well.

Top it off with a bathing cap and you’re all set.

After the slide, I was thirsty and grabbed my mug to walk over to Mara

Wait! Stop!
Zebra domes…

mmmm…….

Okay, go ahead.

and get some Coke. Mara

Zeeeeeeebraaaaaa domes…

is the AKL version of a food court. It's small by values and moderates food court norms, but it has the basics plus a few upscale meals,,,,

You mean like…

Zebra domes…

mmmm……………

and you can refill your mugs at a station in there.

Yeah, whatever. Did you know you can get zebra domes there???????

There was a time you would actually pull up to a pump, a man in a uniform would run over to you and you would take your time rolling down your window and then tell him "Yeah, um, let's see now, um,,, oh,, ok, I guess give me 5 bucks of regular, no, make it six. Oh, and check the oil too, ok? And I think that left rear tire might be low, can you check that out for me? And don't forget the two packs of Viceroy.

Don’t remember the Viceroys… maybe ‘cause I never smoked. But as for the rest? ::yes::

Whoops, my mind threw up again, where was I?
Oh yes, gonna fill up my mind,, I mean mug, at Mara with Coke.
(no, don't go there)

Awww…

Nothing, zero, nada, but as I stood there, I went from "no problem", to, "creating a problem." I was in everybody's way.

Ya know, I used to get really annoyed when I’d be behind somebody who would just stand right in the middle of the way. Maybe now I’ll be more tolerant.

Nah.

Back at the table I said, "Would you please, please, go and get me some pop? I know it's in there, but the dingos wouldn't let me near the watering hole,,,,"

A dingo stole my baby. (said with strong Aussie accent)

Bless her heart, she liked my joke, she went and brought me back a Coke.

Nope. Not buying it. Smidgy liked your joke? You’ve told some whoppers in the past, but this? Shame.

My problem was, i could barely get out of the lounge chair, the sun had sucked every ounce of strength from my body. Once again, it was like somebody put some Kryptonite under my chair whilst I lied there!

Gotta stop lying. ‘Liked your joke’, indeed!

I looked like a turtle on it's back.

I so need to get photoshop back. :sad2:

However, separating our balcony from the one next to us is a partition that starts at knee height, nobody was out there so you can guess what went under the wall.

And now I’m seeing a competition with your neighbour where an ever-growing pile of dead love bugs is shuttled from balcony to balcony. Sort of like a slow motion tennis match of decaying bugs.

If you haven't seen it in person, it will blow you away! And that is not a superfluous exclamation mark.

Superfluousexclamationexpialidocious.

You also need to see it in both daylight and at night, totally different experiences, with the daylight and the ambient lighting and gigantic savannah windows to the world, to the warm, inviting coziness during the evening that makes you want to stop for a drink at Victoria's Falls that is a tiny ounge on the staircase next to a waterfall, or to just go and pick a random couch in the lobby and just sit there because,,,,,,, you can.

Confession time. The first time we took the kids, we stayed at POR. DW said, “What about this AKL place?” I said no, ‘cause it was too far away. Gotta pick a more central location. But now… I’m starting to wonder for next time… hmmm…. I mean how bad could the busses really be? Does it really make that much of a difference???

And this last one in this sequence was not an easy shot, especially due to the subject's extreme fear of heights and whom wanted NO part of the catwalk type bridge that crosses the lobby up here.

Way to go Smidgy! :) Ok, you can let go of the railing now. Smidgy? You can let go... She's still there, isn't she?

Coming up, how to ruin a good evening with Smidgy, or, "Really, I'm sorry, it seemed like a good idea at the time!"

Uh, oh. I’ve a feeling this ain’t gonna be pretty…

remember, even if you have nothing to say, I'd still like to hear it. Hey, that's how I got my start, and as you can see, doesn't slow Ponzi down at all. :lmao:

Oh! How nice! A shout out… hey, wait just a second!

By the way, I guess I 've got an upcoming trip announcement to make and talk about.

Hello?

Dang Bears,,,,,,,, Oh MAN that hurt,,, so bad, so bad, season's over, all gone, all gone, byo baby by-o, Daddy's gone a-..... I'm sorry, not myself.

Gotta think ‘wildcard’.

Ok, I,,,, we,,,, have been hoping to be able to get a spring trip in ,,,,,, well,,,,, next spring.

Well that’s good, because:
1. Now we have another TR to look forward to after this one.
2. Having a spring trip in winter is just silly.

Yes, that's how these type of things work, if you want to take a spring trip, you usually end up having to go sometime in the spring, or, the Vernal Equinox for you hoity toity types.

Thank you. However, I may be hoity but I do not think of myself as toity.

We were hoping for Free Dining which is still the best deal unless you are on a hunger strike, but I kinda doubt a free Dining extension is coming for the spring, got a feeling it's going to go back to just being in September like it was in the beginning.

I always find it interesting how many people here on the DIS, DISpise free dining. We thought it was great.

Couple days ago, room only rates came out, and we ounced on them.

Ah yes. Always good to weigh your options.

We plan on flying, and doing it that way frees up a couple of extra days so we have a 10 day stay booked at Coronado, April 29 to May 9.

Someone’s already mentioned the lack of ‘aluminum tube of death’. And you’ve already addressed that. I think you were just so giddy at the thought of another trip that you just plane forgot.

We are still hoping to go later in the year with son, Todd and wife Kim and finally, FINALLY, grandson Jackson!

Now that will be fun!

Then!, we can now use the benefits of the annual passes, in case Smidgy wants to do the Richard Petty Driving experience or the Spitting Cobra Spittoon Challenge!

Somehow I can just see Smidgy tearing up the track.

We really love Coro,,,, stayed there 3 times now, once in Cabanas and twice in Casitas,

This is another one that didn’t make the cut. I wavered a long time between POR or CSR. I know both have their fans. What finally did it for me was this.
CSR just seemed too big. i.e. what if we’re way off in the boonies? Makes for a loooong walk.
Pepper Market did not appeal at all. Especially when there’s me and three fussy eaters.
Didn’t like the idea of possibly being stuck with a zillion convention goers.

they have steaks and ribeyes and pork chop meals over 20 bucks there, that fall into the counter sercice category.

Did not know that… and now it looks like I might not have needed to find out!

Which brings us to me not being happy.
I can't believe it, finally book a trip I was looking forward to for a long time, and NOW, NOW, they have to go and change porridge!

Hey! At least you’re going! Go eat at Flame Tree every day. Sheesh!

We are going back,,, and can't wait! Really looking forward to it, and hoping the food situation goes back to normal there, or, at the very least, (MOST?) , they leave dinner at least alone and we still have
counter servix meals available for us at ten at night or so.

I’m sure they’ll have counter… um… okay… I just won’t mention it. It’s not like he coupled that with talk about wieners or salami or anything. Just let it go…

Boy, one more typo in that word and it would have been the grand Salami of TYPOS,

Oh no! He mentioned Salami!!!!

Who? Moi? Wouldn’t dream of it.

Nebo, your last chapter was terrific! I laughed until I cried. The persistent, perky, know-it-all yellow jacket, the POTC interior of Mara but aptly described as dingos at the waterhole, the lovebugs. I just couldn't stop laughing! I hate lovebugs. Back in late September 2010, we encountered them in mass at AK and DD was freaked out by the er, committed little buggers. I have dined at Jiko before so my experience at AKL is limited to the evening hours, but it was just breathtaking from what I saw. I would love to stay there at some point.

Hurray! You have another trip right around the corner. And la-la-la(fingers in ears and eyes covered), there is no way that I saw that you would not consider doing a TR for it. Come on Nebo, your TRs are like vikes for your readers. WE MUST HAVE THEM!!!! Yes, you are Smidgy are the constants, but you know that it is who and what you encounter that make your TRs gold. It is blasphemy for you to say you won't likely do a TR. Creepy Jesus won't like that Nebo.....he's watching you!! ;)

So, yes, we are doing this Christmas trip up. I'm going to warn you that APs are like Disney crack, you will always be trying to justify a quick trip, especially if the drive isn't too long. We are leaving this weekend, but we are not doing the DP. We are using TIW and I was able to snag a great AP rate at BC and WL so we are doing a split stay, in the vein of Nebo/Smidgy. I am so excited! I mean I think I get more excited than the kids. They don't know yet, but they are going to be stoked. We are doing everything you and Smidgy suggested, plus I am going to ride POTC and in the queue I am going to close my eyes and trust DH to lead me around so I can experience the queue Nebo style. pirate: You know Nebo,I'm quite sure we will be talking about you frequently on the trip.

Pkondz, I hope your eye is improving! Good night, you did have a heck of a weekend!!

I hope you feel better soon!

Okay. First, a little house cleaning appears to be in order...

Okay. I have no idea who the first person was that said I had shingles... maybe housecleaning? :confused3

Hmm, I just whomped your post down cuz it's late, but hate, really hate to hear you have to go throught mykstery eye crap. Of regular disease type stuff concernking infections and stys and shingles or even Pat Hingles of the eye, I have been fortunate, you know me, if hte disease can't be named after me, I don't want any part of it. But it sounds like you have just mainly spread some bactteria into your eye, just use the Olfaxin they gave you, one drop four times a day, and make sure you don't touch the nozzle. Call me in the morning and let me know how it is.

Yeah, this is now like when you go in the summer and you're keeping an eye on a certain tropical storm,,,,,
or ten.
Gee, from whence have we dont that recently?

Hey, you'all should congrat me according to Smidgy.
After opuuting it off for over a month, I have finally buzzed my head back down to nothing like it's supposed to be,,,,, Diane just hates it when I don't keep up with it and i comes in all blotchy, which I can't argue with, that's exactly how my hair comes in on top now.

But today, I am smooth.
And it might last until most of tomorrow, too!:woohoo:

takecare all,,, and no, haven't even started the next chapter yet, but don't worry, I can drink really fast.
I mean writed really fast!

sigh

So you said to say something even if I didn't have anything to say, so here I am! :yay:
I like all of your chapters but don't post because it would be redundant just saying "nice post" over and over. I usually don't have a comment.
Did you get any zebra domes?
Today is my birthday and I'm 39. No, really, I am!
DH and I went to a beautiful B&B Friday night. Buhl Mansion in Sharon, PA. Look it up if you have a minute.
Yea on the spring trip. Weird about Pepper Market maybe changing.
Ok, done rambling, c u.

Crap, this really sucks. Marita, I'm sorry.

All of you, please bear with me for a moment?

When i was a newborn on th Dis back in '06, a few people back then would respond with a LY/MI either in their salutation or in their siggy. I finally cracked and through Marita up against the wall demanding she tell me what the heck it means.

It turns out to be mostly the brainchild prhase from somebody, and I don't really think I'm out of line here from all that I''ve heard, "the Mother of all Trip report writers."
Here screen name was DelsWife, her real name, Robin.

I did not doubt for an instance whe was good, I had a few people send me some excerpts of her stuff, but she mostly kind of moved away from the DIs to her own blog.

Ly/Mi,,,, stands for, Love you, mean it. It started out as a sarcastic comment, like when you are sitting there with a Ace high flush and our spouse lays down a full house, that's when you may say Love You, mean it, with tongue firmly in cheek.

I had forgotten about her, until one day after posting a chapter in Honey I shrunk the Audience, Somebody named Delswife posted a 3 letter response to my chapter,,, "O.M.G.!"

That was it.
But I remember Marita was all over it, telling me that I have now achieved the highest possible critiquing I could ever get,,,,,,,for the legendary Delswife has now posted on my trip report.

We went back and forth for a while sending personaly messages, I really enjoyed her company and what I was able to learn about writing here in the Dis from her.
Sadly, we just learned she has passed away from complications concerning her blood and possibly clotting issues. As far as I know, Marita knew her better than most of us here, but the one thing I took out of my talks with Robin were to stay true to what I do and like doing best,
and that's trying to make people laugh, that was her goal
also.

Robin, OMG, will you be missed!
I WILL try to remember to keep in mind the reason I am
doing these reports in the first place, and even if most of these folks here aren't familiar with your work, they can probably see the way you have influenced me and my reports, just from your positive talks,,, so Robin, LY/MI

Boy, she a tough act to follow,, I had always meant to keep up with where she went,,,,,,

ok, mean while,,,,

What I'm especially loving about being a stow away on this trip is reading about the different resorts and the awesome review we're getting. I've read plenty "The beds are..." and "the food court is..." but this is so great! I feel like I'm there with you!

By the way, '... The dingos wouldn't let me near the watering hole' had me laughing outloud!

Thanks for the fun!

Wow, you could not time that any better! Nope, no better at all, dang, you're good!

We love CS,, 3 stays,, Casitas 5, lagoon view, Catitas 3 even better lagoon view, and right about next to you, Cabanas 9B, goon view, I was the goon.
It was I thinkd 9111 in the cabanas, almost a corner room, but smack across from the quiet pool. This is
the room I referred to once as being too much like stahying at a Motel 6, the themeing here in the Cabanas is very minimal, a small pool right in front of us and our car was 40 steps behind us taking the 'cutthrough'.

And I am shocked you are flying! I was looking forward to reading about the ride down and seeing how the Santa Fe survived the drive again ;)

I amd NOT looking forward to frying. And I'm not looking forward to flying either, I wannna drive, I wanna drive,,,,,,,,but there's that work thing going on, and two extra nights driving translate to two extra nights in Disney if you fry.
Fly.

OK, I looked. We were in Cabanas 8a, gound floor corner room. Right out the front door was the main walkway taking you to the main pool striaght ahead or el centro to the left. The bus stop was sort of behind us to the right but close too.

YEPPERS, you could not beat the location of where you were at, my only problem is the lame themeing there,, and even the second floor corner rooms are a washout there,,,
there's a thick, heavy latticework that extends 25 feet above the railing in each direction from the corner,,,, that blocks out everything from sunlight, moonlight, day light and Budlight.
For a beach motif with sun and sand going on, it's darker than the other side of the moon on the second floor,,, and,,,
hmmmm, there may, not positive, but just may, be some 3rd floor rooms as well.

Wow, I had to read your last post twice. I read all of Delswife's reports, she was such an awesome writer!! I kindof lost track of her when she moved to the blog. Her's was one of the first trip reports I read here on the DIS (Along with Bob from SC, or was it NC) his were great also! Anyway, it was a shock to read your post! What a loss :sad2:
