Oz DVD at Walmart

I had an odd experience at Walmart while trying to buy Oz the Great and Powerful DVD. I went in yesterday to use my $7 off coupon for the Blu Ray combo pack and noticed that the Blu Ray/DVD/Digital Combo Pack was on sale for $19.99. That was a great deal! However, I didn't see any of that combo pack on the shelf so I asked an employee and he told me they had plenty in back stock. He started looking through some boxes, but couldn't find them so he turned and asked another lady (who seemed to be his manager) where the back stock was. She said they didn't have any more of those combo packs because Blockbuster came in and bought them all the morning they were released "like they always do." When I asked why they would let another company buy them all instead of saving some for customers she said "they have to, Blockbuster has the right to buy them all." Huh? When I tried to buy about 20 sale items (Spiderman figures) at that same store, the manager stopped me and refused to let me buy so many. He showed me the policy that said the company reserved the right to limit purchases. So, why would they let a competitor buy up all of their sale DVDs, but then limit real customers on products? Anybody else heard of Blockbuster buying all the combo packs on release day? I ended up going next door to Target, who had that combo and price matched, and I used my Red Card for another 5% off so it was cheaper anyway!

Blockbuster?! I had to check that this thread wasn't from 1997. No I have never had this issue since I can't tell you the last time I have seen a Blockbuster. I have seen a Blockbuster to go vending machine just like Redbox here and there but even they have been replaced by Redbox.

I would love that coupon, too. We have Blockbuster kiosks in Publix grocery stores. That is crazy, though! They obviously have a special contract with Blockbuster, and to limit your purchase seems so odd. Guess you didn't have a good enough reason. (sarcasm alert)

I know that at Hastings if we ran out of a popular movie and had a lag getting it, we bought them from Walmart also...the price was more than through usual channels but we didn't want to be out of stock for customers, so even taking a loss was worth it.

Just an FYI, Costco has it for the same price, for anyone who is a member there.
It is $27.99 with an instant rebate bringing it to $19.99.

The coupon was from the Scott brand website. I think it expires today. They usually offer good Disney DVD coupons in conjunction with Disney Movie Rewards.

That is so weird, but might explain why I have a hard time finding new releases at Walmart! This time I got lucky. I picked up my copy yesterday for $12.96 using the coupon. They only had a few of the Blu Ray/DVD/Digital Copies left so I was happy. I was espcially thrilled that it includes a free ticket to go see The Lone Ranger when it comes out. I was going to pay the $8 at the theater anyways, so it makes me feel like I got the movie for only $5...what a steal!!

EDITED TO ADD: Here is the link to the coupon. It can be kind of a pain to get it. You have to sign up and then it takes you to the DMR site and then back to the Scot site to add code. I can never get it to work in Firefox so use Internet Explorer or Chrome. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Also, make sure you get the Blur Ray triple pack combo with FREE movie ticket. It is the one ringing up at $19.96 (normally $29.96). The regular Blu Ray combo rings up $24.96.

Got mine at Target; had to bring the print ad in and then take movie to guest services for price-match. Then they weren't sure if I could use the coupon but they scanned it and it worked!

P.S. They charge tax on the pre-coupon price.

The tax thing varies by state. In MA they charge tax on the post coupon price. Wouldn't be surprised if they eventually change it, they started charging tax on the full value of a cell phone as if you weren't getting it discounted with a plan.

Yup, I think it's a CA thing. Same thing with cell phones.

I just looked at Blockbuster and there is one within 50 miles of me. At one time there were four within 5 miles. How times change.
