Can someone explain something to me - if, hypothetically, you own 150 points at OKW and 150 points at BWV, can you make a reservation 11 months out using all 300 points at BWV? If yes, is this also the case with add ons? Thanks in advance for you responses.

No - you can only use the pts. for BWV at 11 months to stay at BWV, and kick in the OKW pts. at 7 months. It doesn't matter that both "homes" are located in WDW - you only get 11 months at the resort you are going to stay in - all other pts. kick in at the 7 month window.

The short answer is no...... You need the seven month window to use the OKW points. You could try borrowing against fututre BWV points and do this at 11 months. We did this to get a 2br for BWV as we own there and VWL. It will start an alternating pattern for booking at 11 months....

You can only use the 11 month window at a resort where you
A) own, and
B) have enough points, AT THAT RESORT, to make the reservation.

If you own at two or more resorts, there are lots of strategies you can create to use more than your annual allotment at a resort.

For example, if you had 150 points at BWV and 150 at WVL, and wanted to book something for 151 - 300 points at BWV at the 11 month window you could use this years 150 points and borrow 150 from BWV from next year. Then next year, you could stay at WVL, using the same strategy

You could also bank points at one location one year, and then the next year make a reservation for up to 450 points by using the 150 banked points, 150 current year points, and 150 borrowed points.

You could also try to swap points once during the year with someone who had the opposite situation.

There are many ways to be creative when you own contracts at more than one resort.

You can book your 11mo OKW ressies and then apply a cash ressie for the rest of your stay (the other week or so). At the 7 month mark, you then can call and have them cancel your cash ressie and use your points.

I do believe they are allowing this, but call MS to make sure. If you get JOE at MS, your lucky................. he's a great guy and would do anything for you.

Wow, you guys have really thought this through. Thanks for the advice, sounds like some good strategies.

I am sure the question has been asked before, but how do you exchange for points with another member?

The best strategies are to alternate resorts by banking and borrowing and the other is to make ressies at both resorts at the 11 month window for the length of your stay (some days at one and the rest at the other) then change over to the resort of choice at the 7 month window. The cash options only works if you're willing to stay on cash if the resort of choice is unavailable at the 7 month window. You cannot simply change from cash to points for the same reservation.
