Owner's Lockers: Why did you, or didn't you do it?

We tried it when they had the money back special (since my DH was a bit unsure whether it was worth it). Since I have fragrance allergies, I always have to pack our own sheets, comforter, pillow, special detergents, shampoos and soaps, etc. It was soooooo nice to leave many things there and not have to find room in my suitcase to take them each time. I love having a fan to create white noise like at home....could leave that there, as well. Plus, all the toiletries, clorox wipes and things that you want to have for the "just in case" times. I would love to have a second locker because I already know other things that we only use at Disney and I would leave if I had room but haven't talked my DH into a second one. I see the cost as part of the vacation and well worth it since we fly.

One other thing that makes my day is when I get off the plane in Orlando and turn my phone on, there's a text message waiting for me from our locker letting me know it's been delivered and waiting for us. That message gets a smile out of me every time because it reminds me that I'm on vacation and it's time to relax and enjoy Disney.:goodvibes

It is a great concept and if we still lived in PA we would be using their services. John has worked hard to make the business a first class service.

We have signed up for it, but have not used it yet. We plan to keep our crockpot, our good calphalon skillet, and some good kitchen knives in it along with some electronics.

We signed up when they had the special deal for DVC. We used it for the first time and IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY! I packed ours to the max. We rented a car this last trip and stopped at the store and filled it up. We go once a year and every three years or so, go for a long weekend. Not having to drag any of that stuff for the short weekend trip is well worth it. We drop $100 bucks on Mickey Head ice creams so this is nothing.

My sister and I just used it for the first time. We even took it on the Wonder with us for the DVC Member Cruise that ended today. The owner Brian literally was waiting at the curb when we got to the airport to take it from us. We are so happy to travel more lightly. We shipped the stuff down and then put it into the locker. Our experienced so far has been great.

I really like the OL concept and the quality service behind it. However at this point we are still not OL owners.

We alternate a yearly FL trip between WDW and VB, and at first John didn't have a way to get the OL to you if you were not staying in Orlando. That road block is now solved (they will meet you at the airport or another location). When trying to think what I would put in the OL I really couldn't think of very much, other then laundry soap and real beach towels. Our toiletries are always ready to go in our own travel kits. I guess we travel light.

I think the OL is an added expense that one can really do without. With prudent planning, most things can be accomodated with careful packing or deliveries from businesses like Garden Grocer's.

I debated about Owner's Locker because I am the original coupon queen, always looking to save a buck. Maybe it's because I have now passed the age 60 milestone and simplifying gets more and more attractive, but the tipping argument for me was that OL makes my vacation easier. Could I get along without it? Sure--I did for many years. But I bought into DVC to have a different kind of vacation experience that allows me to feel like I am at my home away from home. So now I have my basic "home" stuff waiting and my planning and packing are reduced to a few clothes and a couple of travel items that I don't want to buy duplicates for because of the expense. I looked at my dues statement and thought, "You're paying this much in dues and then hesitating to spend a few bucks on OL? Duh!" I'll never look back.

The OL makes Garden Grocer unnecessary for anything except food, and you are not standing out front of your unit trying to get rid of your extra stuff on check out day!:lmao: We put the extra bottle of wine in our OL, as well as the left-over charcoal, and of course, the ponchos and umbrellas. We fill our's with all kinds of stuff, so all I pack at home now are our toothbrushes. It really is a timesaver when you fly.;)

This will be our first trip coming home to a full locker. Packing will be a breeze for once in my life. I printed off my OL inventory list (2 pages long, LOL), I think I may just have one small suitcase for me. . . for a 6 night stay.

Gosh is that a good feeling. It is just feels like I am pampering myself.

After lymph node surgery a while back, I am restricted in how much I can lug with my left arm. The bell persons at the resorts are much stonger and look cute anyways lugging those purple containers. Worth the tip.

Better them than me!!

The only things I have realized is that some of my OL stuff will only be used in a 1 BR or larger unit, other stuff for all trips, including studios and regular resort rooms. So I guess I need 2 lockers.

The bell persons will appreciate it if I spread the weight a bit.

Too bad the purple bins aren't on wheels.

:rotfl: Hey coupon queen, I'm the queen of frugal.:rotfl: You have said it perfectly! I will never be without my OL again.

We used our OL once this past July and we love it. My boys like to play basketball while they are there so we bought them a nice ball and store it in the locker. Its perfect. Plus I found that I was always leaving things behind because I could not fit them in my suitcase (coffee filters, detergent etc) so now I am not wasteful they will be waiting for me next vacation. Which actually is in 14 days so I know my locker will be waiting for me when I arrive. I think it is a wonderful thing and I wish I used it sooner.:)
