K Ladies- I am working at losing weight before we leave to go in April but I will still be severely overweight when we go-

I am just wondering if anyone else has encountered this dilemna and how you made out while there- what restrictions did you encounter?

I hate talking about this but - it is reality:headache:

Thanks, Jen

I'm not a lady but am overweight. There are very, very few limitations at Disney for overweight visitors. I can only think of one and maybe two.

One thing that could be an issue could be the faster roller coasters. I don't ride SM, RRC etc. so I can't answer but the seating may be tight. I don't skip them because of my weight, I just can't take tight, fast turns.

Another thing that I haven't been able to do that I want to is the Segway tour because there is a 250lb weight limit. I'm not getting down to that any time soon so I will miss that again on our Jan vacation.

The only problem my husband had was at the make your own roller coaster at disney quest.

Yes I'm a Big Guy. Born Big and stayed Big :lmao:

I've had not problems on the rides except as stated at Disney Quest. No way I could get into that little box. The only problem I have is being 6'2", I may fit in the seat, but my knees don't. I've limped out of several rides because my knees smashed into something. But I enjoy the rides so I don't mind the pain to much.

When i went in 2005 i was near enough 20 stone and i went on all the rollercoasters and top rides without any problem =D

We just returned from our first ever trip to WDW and I am quite large (3x or 4x). I am happy to say, I had no problem riding anything. At all. I am also rather tall for a woman (5'10"). Space Mountain was hard to get up out of, but it was a great ride. Sit up front on Test Track, if you can. There is way more leg room. Have fun!

I am a size 26 or 28 (depending on brand) and I had no problem riding anything I wanted to.
I didnt do the virtual rollercoaster at disney quest, but mostly because those make me sick...
I rode Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, BTMR, Rock N Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest,
I was even able to ride the Astro Orbitor (similar ride idea to Dumbo) which I really didnt think I could.
Feel free to Private Message me if you want to discuss anything in particular you have questions about.

Hello!

I was very concerned about this when we went last month (I am about a 2X) but happily had NO PROBLEMS on any rides whatsoever. All seat belts fit just fine. The only ride I did not do was Space Mountain, so can't speak to that one.

Just go and HAVE FUN! If your feet/legs get too tired, rent a motorized scooter chair. Tons of people have them there!

Oh and on Tower of Terror even at my size and with a seat belt on, my rear end was up off that seat a good six to eight inches! Whew, that ride was scary for me!!!

Thanks for all your responses- but I am 5'2 and 270lbs-

I would imagine that I am significantly bigger than most of you- were there people my size walking around and enjoying Disney?

I just want to be mentally prepared

Jen

Oh my gosh- I wish I could hug you right now- I feel SOOOOOO much better- thank you so very much-

I will still work at getting some weight off but it is so nice to know that whether I get off a lot or a little I can still enjoy Disney

Thanks again, Jen:banana:

You will see people of all shapes and sizes at WDW. I was nervous about it because I love to ride everything and I had absolutely no issues. Disney is very size conscious. You are going to have a wonderful time! :)

The one thing I love about WDW is I almost seem anorexic compared to the size of some people walking around. All seem to be having a great time.

TOT was the only ride I had issues with. We rode in the front of the seatings and there was nothing to hold on to, so I felt a little 'exposed'. I tried to hold on to the seat; if I had a bar or something to hold onto, I would have enjoyed it even more.

I am also a heavy plus size woman who is also pushing 50 yrs. old !!! I've gone to WDW the last few times in the heat of the summer . That is what bothered me the most this past time ....I was tired out from the heat this past August . If I were you I would try to walk a bit and build up your endurance up a bit , if you're not used to walking . There are always plenty of park benches where I love to just sit and "people watch" and "take in some of the magic". My dd 11 on the other hand, always wanted to keep on going and getting in line for her next ride. I went on just about every ride and had no problems at all with the seating.

p.s. Just remembered one ride ...the carousel and had a heck of a time trying to get on and off the horse....won't be doing that ever again ! :scared1: I do think that they have a seating bench avaliable if you really want to experience the carousel !!!
Just take your time and ENJOY the Magic :wizard: ....and rest if you need to ....especially if your hot & tired. Happy Planning:thumbsup2

Well, I'm 5'4" and I've been at Disney weighing as much as 280 or 290 with no problems on rides. Now, I have severe osteoarthritis, so my past 3 trips have been done at least partly on a motorized WC.

And yes, there are MUCH bigger folks wandering around the World, having a grand old time. As a matter of fact, WDW is one of the few places on earth I actually feel comfortable wearing shorts in public!

Hey, if you can lose some weight, do it. Building up your stamina for walking is a GREAT idea! But don't make yourself crazy. Enjoy your trip regardless of your size.

Some of the turnstiles were tight especially if you are short, but there is usually a gate that can be opened for wheelchairs. My mom sometimes used that instead of the turnstiles. It does help to walk before hand to build up some stamina. Getting up out of the log at splash mountain was a little difficult, but Mom managed ok and she has bad knees. You will have a great time.

I work for weight watchers and I love these sites. Members often talk about there fears of "will I fit"- now I have a great tip to share with them. THANK U

From one Weight Watcher to another, you are most welcome! (32.5 of 100 pounds gone!)
