Overpopulation

You should be allowed to have as many children as you want.
It is up to YOU not the GOVERNMENT.
It is wrong to dictate how many children someone should have.

cause these threads always end well, right?

limiting the number of children we are allowed to have is immoral and wrong and goes against everything free countries stand for.

if its such a big issue for you, why dont you move to china. they're just doing a wonderful job with their child police, right? how about their orphanages that are filled to capacity by poor little baby girls?

Thanks, Shelby. :thumbsup2

Woah, woah, woah. You guys got me allllll wrong. XD I didn't mean that I think laws enforcing a certain amount of children is right. I was asking your thoughts on overpopulation as a whole.

I feel that two children per family is ideal. I understand that blood is thicker than water- but if the population keeps growing at the rate it is, we're in for a catastrophe. Which is why I support adoption. :]

I completely support adoption.
100%.
But, people should still be allowed to have as many children as they want before adopting. It is up to the couple as to if they want to adopt, or if they want to have 12 children.

I want as many kids as my wife wants but I am not going to be forced to watch them. But I would say around 2 is good but noone should be forced to have only a certain amount of kids...that is just totally ridiculous.
I agree.
It's ridiculous to tell people how many children they can have.
What if they accidentally have another one? What is the government going to do, kill them?

i say we do what the spartans did regarding children >_>.....<_<....>_>.......

:rotfl2:
Kill all the weaklings!

yall know there is a group that wants every one to just stop having kids until we all die out.

I cant find the link now but i thought it was funny.

I for one plan on adopting.
It's not that I don't want my own kids; it's that I don't want to put my body under the stress of having a child.

As for overpopulation, the earth is just one huge beating heart. I believe it is inhumane to dictate how many kids a person can have.

I'd like to have kids, but probably just one of my own, just because as much as adopting a child is a happy thing, there's nothing like knowing that the child you're caring for was inside your for 9 months and that you're the one who gave life to him or her.

But I'd adopt all the others. I'd like 3 kids, maybe 4 depending on how much money I'm making because above all else, I refuse to bring a child into this world if I can't pay to feed and clothe it. I think that's the highest form of child abuse.

My mom says that the Jolie-Pitt clan needs to stop adopting kids. I disagree. They can totally afford to take care of 9 or 10 kids (and considering that they have 6 now, and they plan to have more, they may get there), so why not? They're giving these kids good lives and that's the greatest gift they can give. And they love these kids, too. It's not like they're adopting them and never seeing them- they spend time with them, like a good family.

But yes, I do think that the world is getting a bit overcrowded. I won't stop anybody from having 4 or 5 kids, that's their problem.

I really don't agree with restricting the amount of kids a couple can have primarily because of the human rights issue but mainly because people don't realise it creates more problems than it causes.

The thing is if everyone starts having two kids or even 1 not to mention the families that choose to have none in 30/40 years time the dependent population will be too big for those kids who have now grown up and are working to support the economy.

Some European countries have already have their birth rate fall below the death rate and they're getting pretty worried.

Besides overpopulation doesn't come from MEDC's most of our populations are pretty stable. It's the LEDC's and unfortunately we can't do anything about that before as a country they develop

I think it's selfish to tell other people how many kids they should have. Why should they deprive themselves of the family they want because others tell them to do so?

We aren't over populated. 1st world countries just use way more resources than needed and create alot of waste. Americans alone throw out 1/4 of there food. Most developed countries have slowed down there birth rates. The only countries that have higher birth rates are developing countries. There are even crisises in Europe by the amount of people choosing not to have children.

Quit posting stupid youtube propaganda and use real information.

Most countries have higher birth rates compared to death rates. And those who have higher death rates compared to birth rates? That's good! What we need is negative population growth rate. 6.6 billion people is completely ridiculous.

No not neccesarily places like Germany want to bump up the birth rate offering cash incentives and stuff for them to do so - they're on of the countries with a neg. birth rate.

The thing is when people have 1 or 2 kids reducing the new population coming in, in 30/40 years time you get an aging:confused: population (thanks to medical advancements we can now expect to live 90+) and theres not enough economically active people to support the dependant elderly population and keep the economy active.

In most MEDC's overpopulation is not a problem (I live in Britain we know about cramming many people in a small space  ) In some LEDC's it is a bit more, however theres not much we can do about that.

If we're running out of places to live, look at Canada. It is the world's second largest country, yet hardly anyone lives there. It's beautiful country up there too. :)

i believe people should have as many kids as they want, as long as they can care for them and give them enough individual attention.
The duggar family with the 200 kids upsets me because they're having kids to the point that the kids have to pair up and help raise eachother.
They're happy and all but good god, stop it.

Dont forget about China and India. Two hugely populated countries but with still very much undeveloped land. Russia the largest country in the world only has a tenth of the population of China and about half the size of the US population.

That's a good point too. :)

Overpopulation is not something we need to worry about.
Why were we put here? Not because we need to control ourselves so every other animal on the planet can go and overpopulate itself.
There's an overpopulation of rabbits, but they don't seem to care.

So go have children. Personally, I'm planning to have seven. I do know I probably won't give birth to them all, probably adopt three or four of them, I want to adopt to help those children, not to prevent overpopulation. I'm going to love each of them, my husband will love each of them, and we'll be happy. That's all that matters.

I am perfectly capable of loving more than two people.
And maybe even a few dogs!
I have lots of love to share, I hope everyone in the world does.
