Overpopulation

Dont forget about China and India. Two hugely populated countries but with still very much undeveloped land. Russia the largest country in the world only has a tenth of the population of China and about half the size of the US population.

So what, we should just continue to breed until there's not an inch of undeveloped land out there? Yeah, good plan there.

Just because there is still undeveloped land doesn't mean we need to populate it.

You think just because you make a law and tell people not to have sex and conceive will make people stop? Let's take away human rights, good plan.

America is not over-populated...China may need laws over there, but I disagree with the way they are treating it, by killing the children.

Based on current trends we won't just continue to breed until there is no land left because many of the developed countries in the world are slowing there birth rate. There will be so many changes and advancements in technology we will never have to worry about overpopulation.

Do you think we should stop?
We'd go extinct!

We were made to be on this earth.
We weren't made to just STOP reproducing and die off.
We've woven ourselves so tightly into the food chain/ circle of life, it'd do a ton of damage if we just up and make ourselves go extinct.

Exactly!

Madame Curie was the youngest of five children.
Thomas Edison was the youngest of seven.
Henry Ford was the youngest of five.

What if there parents had stopped at two?

I want as many kids as my wife wants but I am not going to be forced to watch them. But I would say around 2 is good but noone should be forced to have only a certain amount of kids...that is just totally ridiculous.

You won't look after them?:confused3

Then what are we going to do with this land?

Then what are we going to do with this land?

Why don't we just leave that land alone? The wild animals need somewhere to go where there's not humans roaming all over the place. And I honestly think it's mean to just stick them all in zoo's, many of which have such tiny cages that it's just....mean.

And anyway, you have to admit, undeveloped land is a whole lot nicer to look at then the smog, 10 story buildings of concrete, and garbage.

I don't have a problem with people having children, but a little self-control would be nice. With how long people are living now, we don't need 12 kids per family anymore. 1-3 is fine, but any more than that will just make the situation worse.

Most of my friends come from mega families, I guess that you could say. A few of them come from six or seven child families. They do fine. They live in nice developed little towns, which is Missouri for you, and don't add to the smog situation.

Well, those people were born a pretty long time ago. And we reached our first billion in 1850. Population certainly wasn't a problem back then.

And even if they hadn't been born, someone certainly would've filled in the gap.

Everyone has an enviromental footprint. Therefore, every person born is contributing to enviromental problems. Did you know that 1 american has the same enviromental impact as 4-5 indian people?

I don't get how people can just fling about the word 'over-populated' I mean how to you measure that. Is there a set amount of people allowed on this earth?
What are you measuring against.

And sex does NOT equal babies. People can have as much sex as they want to without ever having to concieve. Have your parents ever told you about condoms?

98% effective, my little sister came about thanks to that little 2%

Thing is...even if the world tried to regulation population...it would become a disaster. People would be living hidden lives. The world would go to hell! lol. If it became law that each family here could have no more than two children...our jails and prisons would fill up fast. Mistakes happen. Birth control fails. Babies are born. People will be having children and hidding them from society just to avoid getting caught with more than two kids. Life as we know it will turn to chaos. People will protest, fight, and rebel until things changed.

The world isn't overpopulating. Technology is advancing, company buildings are being made, cities are attracting people, and more and more people are finding work thus able to afford decent sized houses thus causing what seems like more populated areas. The population is moving along fine. In my opinion. Until we find it hard to advance in life and unless we find living to be a very difficult thing to do entirely because of the increase of people on this planet, the population is fine.

It doesn't matter when they were born.
The fact is, they WERE born.
Telling someone that they can only have a certain number of kids is selfish, and wrong.

And how do you know that the gaps would have been filled? You don't. There is no proof that it would have been, and if their parents had stopped at two children, there would be A LOT of stuff that we wouldn't have today.

No matter the century, or year, it is wrong to limit a persons rights to have children. It is a human right to have children, and they canhave as many children as they want. As long as you can take care of, and support your children, have as many as you want.

I would look after them but not all the time...and if my kids are like me now they would want to help out with the younger ones.

This is just my opinion, but a child should not act as a parent to their younger siblings. Help out here and there, yes, look after, no. They are siblings after all.
