We will be taking our 7 year old Daughter and 5 year old son up to Orlando for the night. We are planning to drive up early in the morning and get a hotel for the night, then spend the following day at WDW. Any good hotels with waterparks in the area? Also, would you recommend the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom? I've heard good things about both. Thanks.

I'd recommend MK over AK for a one day trip. MK is much more "magical" in my opinion. AK is great, don't get me wrong but it's more like a glorified zoo with some rides. I love AK but I think that if I only had 1 day, I'd definitly hit MK!!

With the ages of your kids, I'd opt for MK if they've never been. Exception would be if they are really animal fans. Lots of the Disney hotels have water slides at their pools, not sure if that's what you mean. Try Port Orleans French Quarter if you want a moderate hotel.

And welcome to the DIS!

I ditto sunkissed212 ..

Sounds like this will be the 1st visit.MK definitely!!
jlaspoq's suggestion for a hotel is a good one...if you want to pay less..try one of the value resorts. You can check out all the resorts on these boards.

Also...welcome to the DIS boards...Lots of great info here!! :cheer2:

To alot of people who are not "in the know", when we speak of "Disneyworld", MK is the first thing they think of. Many people that I work with are surprised to know that DW actually has 4 theme parks,2 water parks, and multiple resorts.

My point is this, if there is only one choice, you should go to the original "Disneyworld": the Magic Kingdom

Be at Magic Kingdom at park opening-go straight to Fantasyland and Toontown-then work your way around to other attractions that interest you.Take advantage of FastPass and be sure to stay for Spectromagic and Wishes if they are scheduled. It will be a long day,but you will be AMAZED at everything that is Magic Kingdom!Animal Kingdom is great also-you can see it on trip number two ;) :)

I agree with everyone else, definitely visit the Magic Kingdom!! As for hotels, since you have such a short time there, a stay on Disney property would help add to the magic of your trip, all the hotels have pools, so look around see which one looks right for you and your family.
Have a wonderful trip!! :)
