overlapping dining times

We have a large party of 10 people ranging from grandparents to infants. 2 adults are managing everyone's MDE. Is there anyway around the conflicting reservation limits? We are all trying to eat at the same restaurant around the same time. We would love to be seated together but when our window opened this morning no reservations were open for our whole party. We were able to see multiple parties of 2/3/4 to get to the number of people we have, but the system doesn't allow us to book more than one within a certain window of time. Also there are several days were the dads are taking a few kids to lunch at a different restaurant, but again we can't book more than 1 lunch reservation.

You have to put each reservation in a different person's name or make multiple reservations using different MDE accounts.

Alternatively, call Disney Dining and ask them to help you.

I was on hold for 1.5 hours and they told me we had to eat hours apart from each other.

When making your reservations only have one person (the lead) name on the reservation leave everyone else as guest. If you have two MDE accounts booking you can have each of those people book for half the amount at the same exact time and when you arrive ask for your party to sit together. (Try arriving early to help the restaurant accommodate this) This will allow you to have two at the same time with no conflicts

The system doesn't seem to be enforcing the overlapping times restriction now. Just go online and book whatever you need.

I don't know what the system's doing now, but when we went, we couldn't get a reservation for the 6 of us. I just made a reservation for the 4, and 2. The reservation times were 10 minutes apart. When the first 4 got called, we went up also (we were the 2 1o minutes later, and said we were together, and just asked if we could be seated near each other. The CM just did "click, click" on her TV screen, and led us all to a table for 6.

A month ago we went with 15 people and we had to make multiple reservations for parties of 4/5/3/2 etc. so we could all eat at the same time. Now this time, we are getting the errors and only able to book 1 party of 4.

Perhaps the ADR system has changed, but when we went in 2019 with multiple families and one person was making all of the ADR's, the system wouldn't allow multiple reservations at the same date/time. One night we planned to split up and eat at different places, so we have someone else make that reservation instead and it worked fine.

In your example, I would have different people each make their own reservation to get the total of 10 you need. If they are all for 7:00pm (for example), just arrive together and tell the host you are all one party. They will either say you can all sit together or not depending on how tables can be configured at a certain restaurant.

I had a lot of trouble with this today, also. No available reservations for 9, and couldn't book separate reservations that were close in time (system was telling be I had to chose one or the other). I ended up booking for 6 and calling in at 7am hoping they could turn the reservation for 6 to a reservation for 9. No luck. After over 1.5 hour hold, she told me there were no reservations for 9 and ended up booking a separate reservation under my husband's name for 3 for 20 min earlier than the first reservation and made it clear that there was no guarantee that they would be near each other. :sad1:

Could Disney be benefiting from possible cancellation fees with this? I wonder if some guest forget to cancel overlapping reservations?

When needing to make multiple simultaneous ADRs for a large party, make the first ADRs in the names of the other guests (someone who has their own MDE account, because they’ll be the only one who can cancel or modify it). Only the last one for that same time should be in your name. Make sure everyone is at the restaurant 10-15 minutes before the earliest ADR, check in with the CM, not via MDE, and tell the CM you’re together and would like to sit as close together as possible. Be patient - they’ll do their best! And if you do end up with separate tables, Disney doesn’t care who sits where, so if one ADR is in your spouse’s name and the other is in yours, you can still sit together. :cutie:
