Overbooking ADR's without cancelling

I didn't read this entire thread, but I don't think Disney will ever go to cc deposit for all ADRs. Some people won't use CCs. Also, it would be a nightmare for Disney with complaints. I, for one, would be very annoyed if I was charged $25 for not showing up for an ADR because I was stuck on the monorail in a thunderstorm. All sorts of valid reasons occur of why people might miss an ADR time so I think with how many dining places there are, it would be too much of a headache. However, more of the hot spots might be worth a try like Le Cellier, CG, etc and do what they for the Princess breakfast at Norway.

I don't make multiple ADRs for the same time either.

I do think though with the technology out there, Disney could find multiple bookings, but I think it's just too much time spent for CMs to delete them and then Disney would still get complaints because they wouldn't know which one you really wanted.

I dont make multiple ADRs for one meal but I had to skip several ADRs on my Easter trip. Sometimes traveling with 2 little kids I just didnt feel like going to the place I had origianally booked. I called and canceled each one but sometimes not very far in advance. I would not make many ADRs if I had to place a CC hold on them all.

When I am in Florida I could have just my kids with me or suddenly be joined by 5 more people so I never know what my meals will be like.

If they suddenly do put a CC hold for all meals I will be using the rental car and eating off site a lot more often.

CM do not do the deleting the computer does it.

Just to let you all know...I am going down there for the first time in 20 yrs from Dec 3-9. It will be me, my gf and her 6 yr old daughter. I am unsure of where we want to eat. SO this was my solution

I made a reservation at EVERY restuarant in the WDW property, parks and hotels. I did this for each 30 minute increment from opening to closing. I was not sure what we wanted to do..so this was the easiest solution. I for one do not think this is rude...I just do not want to plan ahead and if someone wanted to do this, they could do this to.

OH yeah...if you havent figured out the sarcasim so far, I also made reservations for every seat on every airline I could find because I am not sure where I want to sit yet on the planes. :tigger: :ccat: :ccat: :tigger: :ccat:

I think booking more than 1 ADR is a selfish and greedy thing to do! HOW RUDE!!!!!! :furious: We would never do that!!
How about the poor people trying to plan at home IN ADVANCE!!! that cant get the ADR's because you have it and may or may not use it. They will make alternate plans (not there first choice) they wont go to see if someone didnt show up for there ADR where they really want to dine. What if they are turned away, now where will they go?

I only read the first few posts but I totally agree with this poster. I've even read where Disney is starting to crack down on people who double/triple book. GOOD !!!! One DISer recently stated that when she called once to confirm her reservations, that a CM had taken out both of her reservations for one evening because she had double booked. I hope Disney starts to do this on a regular basis.

He said that Disney was now deleting ADRs that over lapped and im not talking time for time..seems one of my 50's prime time adrs were deleted without my knowlege, which was fine with me since i didnt even know i had that ADR.

I think that Disney is getting tired of multiple ADRs even temporary ones like I had.

ETA: Is the problem you have with the fact that it's therefore harder for you and others to get ADRs or that the person doesn't want to plan the days out this far in advance, allowing for some flexibility? I'm truly unsure.

ETA, again: Talking to others about this, I should revise what I've written. I think if someone said, "I made lots of ADRs at the same time because that makes it more difficult for others" - that is rude. But otherwise, I dislike the practice but don't think it's rude.

How about this?

"I made lots of ADRs at the same time knowing that it makes it more difficult for others but I do it because it's easier for me."

Is that rude? Personally I think it is and it's what is really happening here.

Thread after thread pops up where posters say things like "I'm a rule follower, I always try to do the right thing, I follow the golden rule, I try to be considerate of others..." all the while being self righteous, judgemental, sarcastic, rude, and nasty to other posters that have a different point of view. Hey, look in the mirror. Hmmmm....It's really a sad statement that the most popular threads on this board are always the ones where posters are being insulting and argumentative!

I think it's rude that the OP ask "what do we do?" not, "let's start a debate on this, judge anyone and everyone who doesn't do things like we do", but that's what this thread is now.

I think that's a good point. But, since multiple ADRs makes it harder, but not impossible - I still have a hard time labeling (sp?) it "rude." I don't know. I've noticed a lot of posts on this board that were, "I do __ and it's right and everyone else is stupid/rude/horrible, etc" so maybe that's why I keep having a problem. Is it really necessary to judge those actions? You (proverbial you, not the direct you) can't just deal with it and move on? I mean every day, we deal with people who "cheat" in various ways - speeding, littering, using expired coupons, etc. Having a problem with it is totally different, IMO, than considering it rude.

When I see this I always wonder how many of these people speed....it is after all breaking the rules. (Laws rules same basic thing to me)

Disagreeing with the way some people do things and stating that they personally find a behavior rude is NOT being insulting and argumentative (although, yes, some people do become insulting).

Count me among the people who find it VERY telling when a poster notes that they like to book multiple ADRs because they don't want to have to plan, despite admitting that they may be keeping people from booking ADRs for the restaurant.

If Disney feels the double (and more) booking is becoming more of a problem we can expect more changes is the future. I can see expansion of the CC policy already in place for signature meals or a crackdown on the cacellation of double booking- and if Disney notes that people are booking ADRs under more than one phone number? Well, then the CC policy will most likely be the change, or we'll see a return to the days of onsite guests being the only people allowed to book ADRs (which would be sad, I think).

I generally do the speed limit. The only time I go over it is if I'm in the right lane keeping pace with traffic that's traveling a few miles over the speed limit. I do that only because it's safer and more courteous than requiring everyone to pass me. But if the right lane is doing ten miles over teh speed limit, they'll just have to pass me, I'm not in that much of a hurry to get anywhere.

Since I got my new car I'm always being "challenged" when I stop at traffic lights, generally by guys in POS Acura's. I let them screech off into the sunset, and then snicker when they get pulled over ecery now and then. I didn't buy a car to race, I bought it because I liked the way it looked.

I drive it for the pleasure of driving it, not to act like I'm all that.

Oh, and I'm still LMAO at the two idiot's who clipped each other on Route 27 in front of Kohl's last Friday evening, because they were too busy checking out my car and not watching where they were going. Duh.

If they stop allowing ADR's for local's they better give me my money back for my DDE card. I"m sure others will echo that sentiment.

I agree that it would be a bad way to address the issue, the only reason I think it's a possibility is because it would allow Disney to require that all ADRs be booked to a hotel reservation number. I don't like the idea at all and only posted it as an example of how people booking multiple ADRs could end up inconveniencing people in ways they likely haven't even considered.. though I doubt it'll change any minds.

This past trip I was chatting with another guest who mentioned that she routinely books 2 or 3 dinner TS ADR's a day and let's her family pick which one they want to visit depending on what they're in the mood for. While I think this probably gives them more flexibility, I think it really screws up the ADR's for everyone else.

I only book one per day and we get there rain or shine. What do you guys do?
This person is very greedy. It is people like this that will force Disney to charge for all ADRs (hope her family loses a lot of money).

I think they'll go to a credit card guarantee before risking losing the business of "the locals."

We're the ones dining during the off season on off-nights with five other tables in the entire restaurant--and yes, we've seen that happen, even at CG!

The local business is a measurable percentage of overall WDW F&B revenue, even if some people think we should "just eat at home."

So what I think is funny is this. First, I didn't say eat at home. I said that if it was such a problem for you, then eat at home. Second, I apologized for flaming you. And you? Not so much. Let's see that eye rolling smiley again :thumbsup2

No, I don't book multiple ADR's for meals. Yes, I do think it is inconsiderate to do so. I would not mind a CC hold for restaurants at Disney. I don't buy the "I don't know how my kids are going to be" arguement either. In all of our Disney trips with 3 young children I have never missed a dinner ADR. We also decide where we want to eat and then plan our park days around those restaurants. It's not really that hard to do. The park hours come out 6 months in advance, people know what days are EMH, etc. I don't understand why people have to make 3 dinner ADR's for the same day. :confused3
