Over $1000 to add park hopper

(And, please post back and let us know.)

I called back. The first person I got said that normally you can not add a hopper to your tickets until you arrive at the park- then she said, but since you have a package maybe you can, or we can at least check to see if it is a mistake that they are not showing so I am going to transfer you to a resort specific person who may be able to help you.

The "resort specific person" was fabulous. She confirmed that hoppers were not showing and that from what she could see it did not look like they had been charged when the package was originally booked. She then said "Of course we can add the hopper option. It is treated as an upgrade to the tickets so it will not mess up your FP+ at all". She had me pull up my MDE. She then charged me the appropriate approximately $200. Then she had me refresh my MDE to make sure that it was showing hoppers and that all my FP+ were still in place. Everything was perfect. Needless to say- she got all excellents from me on the survey!

Thanks Robo for your help!

So happy that you stuck with it and came away with what you should have gotten!

Have a magical trip!

What a classic! Someone needs some remedial training......

Not sure what you mean. This CM is a budding candidate for Disney Employee of the Year. She is proactively exploring new avenues to drive revenue growth. CM just needs to optimize her price point, identify the maximum amount above the real price that the most guests are willing to pay without questioning it ($1000 might be a little too high). Also nice try by CM presenting the cheaper hopper upgrade method which would have inadvertently wiped out the FP+ reservations in an attempt to convince OP to pay the extra $1000+ to keep the FP+ safe.

AKA: Charge whatever the traffic will bear.

Isn't it the same as in UK call centres where all the calls in the office are monitored by a line manager and you never know if they are listening at that moment.

Plus all the calls are recorded and are used in performance assessments. If someone complains they will replay the call and go from there

I dread having to call Disney for anything during trip planning. The most frustrating experience was a recent split trip: first half at OKW on rented DVC points (and not by me) - second half at POP. I got enough days on my park tickets to cover the entire trip but then started to wonder if I had done it wrong, as it was associated to the second-POP part. I called, got transferred to IT (?) and was told no problem, everything was linked together in MDE and my pass would be effective the first day I scanned it. Then at 60 days I couldn't book my FP+. It took 5 phone calls of a minimum of 1 hour each, each time being transferred at least 3 times to get to someone who could at least suggest how to split and re-book the passes... at an additional cost of $200. An ugly, histerical meltdown later and I was pawned off on someone in Guest Services, who said they record all the phone calls and if they could verify that I was told it would work they would refund the $200. To their credit, they did follow thru, located the phone call and refunded the $200... but that's 5 hours of my life I would have preferred to have spent doing something else.

I dunno Lucius, there's stiff competition with the CM who thought up "Ferrytale Dessert Cruise":earboy2: And while I'm not an official CM, I am hopeful at getting an honorable mention for my idea of the "Tramtasmic Treat Tour" ;)

I have never heard any stories of "phone CMs" being corrected or reprimanded for giving out bad info.

And, as we're discussing, if a guest asks a question and gets the wrong info, who's going to know?
It's all in a vacuum.

If someone asks a question on this forum and gets a stink-o answer... a half-dozen corrections will pop up within a few minutes.
Instant "peer review."

This is really not a difficult situation to correct. There are programs available that most call centers use that allow analysts to record the calls as well as the screens that representatives use. It is irresponsible to set reps free to provide all kinds of information to callers who use it to make vacation decisions. My son developed programs for years that the communications company he works for used to improve so many areas in their business when he was assigned to Quality Services, and I spent over 5 years reviewing calls and coaching representatives. My blood boils every time folks say you need to call back. WHat on Earth happened to first call resolution? The silly surey at teh end of the call cannot address it no matter how many times a caller presses "1" if the caller does nto know they were given eroneous information.

I'm glad the OP called back and got everything settled. We always make changes to our tickets at the parks - they are the most experienced with handling the myriad of options, and a supervisor is always near. :) We prefer guest services outside of EPCOT.

You can find nightmare ticket upgrade problems far too often while at WDW.
After as much time as I've spent on this board helping in ticket situations, the in-person WDW ticket fiascos are legion, and no particular WDW location is better or worse than another. Each location can be staffed, at any given time, by a rotation of a multitude of CMs, each with a varying amount of training and experience.

So, I just got off the phone with a WDW CM. When we booked our trip, we clicked the option to add hoppers to our tickets- as we always do. My tickets are now showing up in MDE as base tickets.

I have noticed that this is a glitch on the Website. When Pricing out various trips, you click on Park hopper and the total on the sidebar doesn't change. Same with ticket days, if you click to change the number of days that shows up automatically with a package, it doesn't change it.

Glad you were able to get that straightened out.

Every time I read one of these posts I thank goodness and whoever else is responsible that I have never had an incompetent CM to deal with booking a trip. I have had issues with my AP because it has my middle name on it which I go by but my reservations always have my legal first name on them which has caused yet unresolved confusion but no time lost etc.

Gave up on "tickets" years ago for AP's. Break-even for us is like 1.5 trips not counting discounts.

Wow.........is it me or has there been a rash of lousy phone call CM's lately. It almost sounds like their hiring temps for these positions o_O

While we're on the hopper subject, if I have 5 day tickets, use 2 days, can I then go and upgrade the last 3 to hoppers?
Also, if I upgrade from 5 days to 6 will I get the 6 day rate or will the 6th day be higher than if I originally bought the 6 day?
Thanks!

Park hopping is one price, no matter if it's 2 or 10 days or any number in between. So waiting to add it won't matter.

Same for the 6th day. You will be charged for the difference between a 5 and 6 day ticket, no difference between buying 6 days or 5 +1. Just be sure you haven't used all your days before you add on, add that extra day no later than day 4 of your ticket.

That USED to be true, but it has not been the case for the last couple of years.

Yes, it still is a "one-price" per ticket payment (not a daily charge)
but the price varies for a ticket with a fewer number of days.

Add Hopper option to:

MK 1-day: $50
EP, HS, AK 1-day: $58

2-day: $50
3-day: $50

4-day thru 10-day: $64

SPECIAL NOTE:
If you already have the Water Parks Fun and More option on your tickets,
adding the Hopper is a one-time, one-price fee of just $26 per ticket.

All prices, plus tax.
