Outrageous prices for 2021

I was looking at booking for Feb 2021 today and I was absolutely disgusted at some of the prices, moderate resorts coming up at over £5000 for 2 weeks (with flights from UK) PER PERSON.

I really wanted to stay at a Disney Resort, but find the price just far too high, for 2 of us it's more than £10,000 and that's just for the flights and hotel - no passes are included, no food etc.

I'm coming in December this year and for 2 of us it cost £6000 for HRH at Universal (with unlimited express pass), so the Disney prices are a massive increase.

I think staying on I Drive is the most cost effective option, even though I really wanted to stay in Resort in a moderate hotel. I think Disney are out pricing people.

It's very early to book for 2021, no doubt they will have some offers you can partake in if you hold off booking for a while.
Keep watching for discount offers, they will pop up.
They just recently started offering deals for beginning of 2020, I booked in July and then the discounts came out last week and I saved quite a bit on the room. The offer was 25% off the rooms. I have a pass holder discount and got 30% off.

Yes 499 days out for Disney resorts but flights that far in advance?

What rooms were you looking at? When you consider that the Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs has the option of suites and club level access you may just be looking at very expensive rooms to begin with even if it is at a moderate resort.

With Virgin Holidays you can book through until August 2021 at the moment so I'm trying to plan ahead. Wait. Right now, any pricing for 2021 would be the highest (holiday) rates for 2020. And honestly, like @WDW Queen said, there is absolutely no way Virgin can know airfares for February 2021, at least not until next March.

Looks like you’re booking at rack rate just because its so far in advance.

You can always try to stay abreast of what discounts become available between now and the trip and apply them to your reservation.

With Virgin Holidays you can book through until August 2021 at the moment so I'm trying to plan ahead. A standard room at Colorado Springs is quoting £2400, which isn't a bad price to be honest, but it wasn't one of the hotels I was interested in. All rooms for all hotels offered are standard but upgradable.

I can only assume those are guesses for flight prices and they very well may change because the flight schedules are not generally released nearly 2 years in advance.

Which resorts and room categories are you looking at?

Also be aware that you're looking at rack rates but there are likely to be discounts that come out.

Joining this forum has been a godsend and the advice and tips are amazingly helpful. For my trip this December we are at HRH Universal for 2 weeks, but I booked ASM for 3 nights through the Disney website so we don't have to get taxis to and from every day - and the early entry etc would give us more time in the parks. The cost of 3 nights happily surprised me at $360.

Would you suggest booking the hotel and flight independently (as DME would take care of transfers) may be a better option?

I've not been to Orlando for nearly 20 years so this December's trip is a big learning curve and we are definitely planning to return in 2021 - possibly 2022 depending on the 50th celebrations.

Caribbean Beach & Port Orleans. Caribbean was the one I was really interested in. But I will leave things for now and see what happens later in the new year. I appreciate all the help and advice.

Have you joined theDIBB? It's a UK-based Disney forum and I read over there quite often. The members have a lot of insight as to how to economically book WDW vacations, when the best time to book is, etc.

So, I checked Feb. 8-22, 2020 (14 nights) at rack rate. Caribbean cheapest room available was $4600 US and Port Orleans French $4400. This is for room only. Prices will go up for Feb. 2021 but assuming some discounts it might be close to this pricing. With conversion it should be around 3600 UK pounds. Even adding flights at 600 times 2 something is way off. Are you sure tickets/meal plan is not included as I've read it is usually a package that is booked from the UK (usually free dining).


Edited: The Caribbean for the last 2 weeks of 2020 14 nights (Christmas and New Year) at the MOST expensive room and the most expensive time of the year is $7000 US or around 5600 UK pounds room only. Still way cheaper than the price you were quoted. You might each be getting charged for the same room is all I can think of.

Over the past few years (especially) Disney has dramatically raised the prices of everything.

It has gotten to the point that even 25 percent off a grossly inflated price is still a very high price.

Except 2021 rates aren't out yet, and won't be until next summer. Until the rates are released, 2021 bookings will be quoted at the highest possible price in 2020.

Yacht Club (which might be what OP is looking at, since it's £5591 pp) is $867 weeknights and $906 weekends the last two weeks of December. I'm coming up over $15,000 USD at the moment with tax.

Best thing the OP could do is call Virgin Holidays and ask why.

Virgin Holidays are always consistently the highest price for Disney packages. I second the recommendation to join The DIBB and see if booking hotel, flight etc separately could save you money. UK flight prices for 2021 aren't final yet anyway, they'll be bookable properly in January. For now it's kind of a speculative price.
