Outrageous Boma drink prices

I never understand how people can buy something without asking the price (when it is not listed) and then be upset when they find out how expensive it was.

I'm sorry but I never ask the price of a Captain and Coke when I order it for my husband. Its a standard cocktail and I've never seen a restaurant list the prices of their cocktails unless they are promoting a happy hour.

It's a lemon slush with grey goose vodka in it, or an orange slush with gran marnier in it. Very refreshing and well worth the dollars.

Thats the one! I have been told over and over to get that orange and gran marnier one at Epcot. Its over by Morocco, right and it costs $8. ***ooops! correcting my post! I see you said it was by France. Can you give better directions as to roughly where? I have a built in homing device in my mouth for the pastry shop in France. Is it near there?****

When I started reading this thread, I was thinking about Vegas, too. I thought of the cocktail I ordered at the iBar in the Rio costing about as much as the Champagne one. But if I had seen a drink that cost $30, those were usually sold in a fishbowl and 8 straws would be thrown into it.

Like this?

The pastry shop is at the back of the French pavilion. The slushy kiosk is, if you walk through France toward Morocco, on your left beside the lagoon, pretty much right across from Le Chefs. So they are not right next to each other, but not far away either.

Let the buyer beware! We made the mistake of not asking the price of a mixed drink before ordering it at Boma last week. It was described on the menu as Champange with raspberry puree. It actually was just champange with overly sweet raspberry syrup added. The previous night we had a similar drink at Flying Fish which was champagne with peach and raspberry puree and it was great and cost 8 dollars. The Boma version cost $14.50 and wasn't nearly as good. We asked the waitress if this was a mistake and she said that unfortunately it wasn't. It seems that many others have complained about their drink prices but management still won't list the prices on the menu. Drink prices at Jiko right next door are much more reasonable.
Wow-thanks for the heads up. We're staying at the AKL in September.

oh lookit that!!!!! I'll have one right now please!!!!! I have no kitchen so I sure could use an adult bev!
:lmao:
You should go & get one right now!
Let me tell you, we were without a kitchen for 5 months & the drink of choice for that particular renovation was the gin & tonic. We kept a big bag o' ice in the freezer, along with the gin. Tonic & limes in the fridge at all times. Big, Solo cups. It helped to make things a little bit brighter as the sheetrock dust sifted down. I swear this is the only way that we managed to survive 5 months of nearly every meal on the grill.

The official theme song of the reno was Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's "You & Me and the Bottle Makes Three".

Actually the fish bowl drink (complete with smoke billowing out of the top) looks divine. What is it?

That is a "Witch Doctor," the specialty of the Voodoo Lounge in the Rio hotel, Las Vegas.

Exactly. Beer and wine are usually listed but mixed drinks, almost never.

There is one place that I have eaten in my 46 years that did list their mixed drink prices. Called Piccolo Pete's in South Omaha, Nebraska. The average age of the waitresses (all waitresses, no males here) is about 65 and they have worked there for almost all of their adult lives. Best food anywhere in the world.
If you want to go to dinner, get there by 4:30 because by 5:00 the line will be out the door.

No sticker shock for me....drinks in restaurants here are even worse. A glass of wine can easily set you back $15 . A domestic bottle of beer is close to $6.You are paying for the atmoshere.

Ah you feel my pain!!!!! lol I am down to my sink and a stove I light with an Aim n Flame. Fortunately it is grilling season in the northeast! lol It will be worth it and I am noting recipes posted here for some of the great items. And I am sipping a vodka and soda as I type! lol It will be okay, it will be okay, it will be okay.....

Speaking of food though get yourself a copy of the dressing from LTT for the summer. If you aren't going soon or can't find it, PM me and I'll send it to you. It is awesome for a light summer salad!

I wonder if I can make the Grey Goose slushy at home, anyone have the recipe?

I agree in principle. However I have been at restaurants where I might order an assortment of appetizers for our table without checking the price. Sticker shock might set in to discover that the nachos were $35.

The most expensive drink I've ever had was the Lapu Lapu at the Poly and I think it was $11 or $12. I would be surprised to discover that a more simple drink was $14. That is a pricey cocktail no matter how you shake it.;)

Any delightful cold drink with alcohol in WDW after running around the parks with a 4 & 5 year old...$$$$$$ PRICELESS. :rotfl:

Vegas is great for over-priced drinks. How 'bout that $100 margarita at Isla Mexican Kitchen? :rotfl2: Thanks anyway, I'd be happier with the money. :thumbsup2

We did get a bourbon coke with five shots of bourbon in it at MGM Grand for $20 last week (and two straws). Unfortunately, it was at the Ka theatre and I was trying very hard to be sober to watch (less successfully once my husband bought that drink than I'd hoped).

the $13 margarita at the Mesa Grill was, at least, the best margarita I ever had.

we had several drinks at WDW that were over $10, some in the 13.00-14.50 range...and all were very good. We figured we were paying partly for ambiance & locale, like eating in the Castle. Gosh, you cannot compare WDW prices to your local bar (although kudos to the Piccolo Pete's/South Omaha poster...we live about 30 miles from there. Very popular place!)

Speaking of good frozen drinks available in World showcase...the drink stand outside Morocco has a fine frozen slushy that's similar to a pina colada, but with almond flavoring added....scrumptious.

We didn't like the fiesta margarita at Mexico's outside stand...thought it was pretty to look at but flavor combos in it just didn't "go together" we felt.

the Blue glowtini (yes, it's expensive) available all over WDW is also very tasty & fun.:thumbsup2

And don't get me started on the loverly drinks at the Adventurer's Club...and the entertainment: Kungaloosh!:lmao:

Many of the chains like Chili's, TGI Friday's etc don't list drink prices. Hopefully for $14 it was decent bubbles anyway.

A bargain compared to the $1000 cocktail at BOA. LOL;)

LOL! That's the one! Except my pic of it came out dark and mysterious...

...and with my VMK flat avatar in front of it. ;)

You know, I had to read the words on your luggage sig pic a few times. Then it clicked. Suddenly I heard Styx, and Dennis DeYoung was singing your lyrics in my ear. ROFL! Love the parody!

I thought Brenda's $100 margarita sounded overpriced until I read about Red Square charging a ridiculous amount ($200?) for a bottle of vodka she can get for $30.

And then I saw the $1000 cocktail!
