Outrageous Boma drink prices

Let the buyer beware! We made the mistake of not asking the price of a mixed drink before ordering it at Boma last week. It was described on the menu as Champange with raspberry puree. It actually was just champange with overly sweet raspberry syrup added. The previous night we had a similar drink at Flying Fish which was champagne with peach and raspberry puree and it was great and cost 8 dollars. The Boma version cost $14.50 and wasn't nearly as good. We asked the waitress if this was a mistake and she said that unfortunately it wasn't. It seems that many others have complained about their drink prices but management still won't list the prices on the menu. Drink prices at Jiko right next door are much more reasonable.

Outrageous. I guess the lesson we can all learn is never order anything without knowing the price. Thanks for the warning.

1) We used to call this "buying a pig in a poke."
2) I don't order menu items without a price on it.
3) With the exception of being in a high-class eatery.

I thought that was buying a pig in a poke.

I might order items without a menu price on them, but if I am concerned about the price I will ask it. It's rather typical of bars and some restaurants to not put prices on drink menus.

The Raspberry Champange drink is actually on a the standardized bar menu at most of the lounges, and it costs $14.50 on all of them. I actually really like it and don't mind paying for it if I'm in the mood. I would have been surprised if I hadn't seen the price the first time I ordered it. I guess its because its champange. Is Flying Fish a Disney Restaurant, or owned by someone outside of Disney (like Blue Zoo and Shulas)?

Yes, sticker shock! I ordered the "Champaigne Mohito" at Trails End and loved it! Then I saw the bill - $14.00:scared1:

But sad to say, I loved it so much - ordered another at Boma (it is on the standard drink menu at most TS restaurants)

Even the Grey Goose Citron Slushy is cheaper :rotfl2:

What, what is this Grey Goose slushy you speak of? Please tell me more.

I never understand how people can buy something without asking the price (when it is not listed) and then be upset when they find out how expensive it was.

I had a Kir Royale at Chefs de France and that was $14 as well. I guess that's the standard price for champage drinks in disney. It was expensive, but I knew how much it was before I ordered it, and it was good.

It seems, lately, all restaurants can charge what they want for an alcoholic beverage without any regard to overpricing it. Disney seems to be catching on.

Sorry but drink prices are outrageous no matter where you go...all the local restaurants have very high cocktail prices...did you ever take a look at drink menu at the Cheesecake Factory?

We dont mind the drink prices when we are on vacation...plus we have the DDE and that helps save 20%!

I enjoy champagne cocktails when dining out and $14.50 is pretty normal. I believe in Las Vegas once I had 2 that were about $30 each. :lovestruc

It all depends on the kind of champagne they use.

It is not to be missed - especially on a hot summer day! Unfortunately I have to wait until the end of July to have one :earsboy:

and as stated earlier its at at a kiosk in Epcot's France

I love the orange one, but note that you cannot get one of these drink and then leave the park, even if you're just walking over to the Board Walk area. They won't let you leave through the turnstiles with alcohol. I ended up holding up my whole family and getting one heck of a brain freeze trying to drink it down.

When I started reading this thread, I was thinking about Vegas, too. I thought of the cocktail I ordered at the iBar in the Rio costing about as much as the Champagne one. But if I had seen a drink that cost $30, those were usually sold in a fishbowl and 8 straws would be thrown into it.
