We are sailing in a 4C room. It will be myself, husband, 2 kids and my mother. My mother will be on the Murphy bed. She has a CPAP machine that will need to be plugged in. Is there an outlet close enough to that area? If not, will we be able to bring an extension cord to make it work? I know Disney has put a ban on the power strips, but what about for medical equipment purposes? Or will they at least have something that we can use to make this work?

I travel with my CPAP machine and make sure you let Disney know that you will need an extension cord and distilled water(if she uses it). You will pick up the extension cord at guest services and you will be "charged" $50. When you return the cord, they will remove the charge. If you wait until you check into your room, you may not get one. - I have not stayed in a 4C room so I am not sure where the outlets are.

As PP states, make sure your reservation is noted as needing an extension cord for the CPAP and they will provide one. Some passengers have brought their own, but extension cords have long been on the prohibited list and could be confiscated, so it's best to plan ahead and reserve one through DCL.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks so much for the information. How do I add the note to my reservation? Do I have to call or can I do this on the website? She does use distilled water is that free of charge?

You (or your TA) will need to call and ask them to have it noted. The distilled water is free.

Enjoy your cruise!

My TA wasn't able to request the extension cord for my DH's CPAP. But we got one from guest services without any problems.

To the OP, you cannot do this on the website, a PP mentioned, this must be done either by you calling Disney or your TA(if you used one). The distilled water will be in your stateroom if ordered in advance, the extension cord must be picked up at guest services.

If your using the murphy bed for her you will need that extension cord and plug it in by the desk.

We just wen to guest services and got one the first day and returned it the morning we got off. If you don't return it too guest services they will charge you $50. Don't leave it in the room return it.

Just a suggestion... it is sometimes less expensive to book 2 connecting cabins in a lower catagory instead of 5 people in one 4c. This way you have 2 bathrooms, 2 TV's and just more space. You may want to call Disney and have them check prices.
I love my family but 5 people in a cabin is just a little to much for me.

We had originally booked 2 staterooms, but are able to save $1900 by moving to 1. Plus we were able to upgrade from ocean view and inside to a 4C. This is only the case because we booked when prices were still low and added the second stateroom more recently when prices are now not so low. We debated for a LONG time about if we could handle 5 people in one stateroom for 7 days. All things considered having two rooms would be better and having two bathrooms almost tipped the scales for us in keeping 2 staterooms, but $1900 is a LOT of money. Plus we are used to camping with no bathrooms and 5-7 people in a tent. So it's still a step up from that.

I'm was just thinking she may have to go on the couch or sleep on the murphy bed at the opposite end because she will need the table to put it on. The murphy bed comes out of the wall and the head is right beside end of the couch.

Do you think that the couch would be easier to deal with the CPAP than the Murphy bed? My kids are already talking about one sleeping on the top bunk and the other on the couch so I know that's what they want to do. If it would be easier for one of the kids to be on the Murphy though I can get them used to that idea.

If your mother uses a CPAP machine, the machine will need to be on some sort of steady surface such as a nightstand or on the floor. I would not recommend a couch arm or on top of a bed. If the CPAP machine has water in the holding tank and it tips, water will leak into the main unit causing it to fail. I think someone posted a picture of what the room looks like with a murphy bed down (cannot remember the thread). Take a look at it to help decide.

I just said the couch because you could put the table that sits in front of the couch during the day up by the curtain and main bed. I think the ladder for the upper bunk would have to go at the end by the murphy bed too.

I guess you can always figure out where everyone sleeps and what is best for all you when you get there. Another thought maybe if she sleeps on the couch with her head and table near the main bed she wouldn't need an extension cord across the floor because the night stand is right there. Still would need the table there for reach though.

I bet once they see the murphy bed down they'll forget about the couch. :)

You all have been so helpful. It's good to know that there will be away to accommodate us in the room we have booked. My kids are talking so much right now about DS sleeping on the top bunk and DD sleeping on the bottom of the bunk, but if to make it work Grandma needs to be on the bottom bunk I'm sure they will adjust. Given that they will be 3 and 5 meltdowns might happen, but I'm sure there will be something on the Mickey Boat that will distract them from their sleeping arrangement disappointment. :upsidedow
