Outlander Season 2

Make sure you're watching the trailer that is only one week old, not the one from two months ago. It starts with Claire walking down a hallway with a green dress on.

Okay, I saw it. Having read the books...nothing shocking there.

is it the scene about Murtaugh knowing Claire is from the future? If it is that I read the Diana said that for her it was just a given he knew even though it wasn't actually written in the books.

I just stumbled onto this series. Binged watch season 1 and just finished reading Drums of Autumn. I really like it (though I find all of the books so far could cut out a few hundred pages. She gives too much information ) and am looking forward to watching season 2!
There is a graphic novel called the Exhile and he sees her actually come through.

Everything with this series is a surprise. It is very loosely based on the books. They are just making stuff up an entire episodes have not been based on the book!
Season one was the first book...Outlander. The only differences I noticed was Claire didn't fight the wolf on the show and the Abby was in Scotland rather than France. I'm sure there will be a few surprises in season 2 but I don't think they're just making stuff up. I saw the official trailer and the unofficial trailer for season 2 and everything seems to be what we expect. In the book DOA starts in the future and is told through flashbacks. It looks like the show will tell the story starting in the past and working chronologically through the story instead.i think that's the real surprise.

Did anyone watch last night? Thought it was good. Not surprised they brought in the past earlier than in the book. Fans would have been very unhappy not seeing Jamie for that long. It seemed the interaction with Frank were more indepth in the show vs what happened in the book(dress burning and that conversation never happened in the book did it?), but I think they are going to try to establish why Claire and Frank are not meant for each other more definitively than they did in the books. Also Jamie's uncle already knew they were coming to France, but I feel that the integrity of the books is still in tact. I actually like small changes because it keeps it interesting if you read the books.

I agree with everything you said. :-) I think it would have been very difficult to stay true to the book with the storytelling to B & R (spoilers?) without annoying people. I really like the way they did it. I trust them to handle it well. That being said, my biggest worry is how they're going to age Jamie and Claire for the rest of that seasons. :rotfl:

How did you watch it? I looked, last night, on Starz and could not find it. I will look at on demand and see if it's there.

It premiered last night at 8 on starz. It was rerun again this morning and it is on again tonight from what I saw on the guide.

I watched it early, actually - they released it on Thurs on the Starz app. But I had to watch last night too because it is just so much better on a real screen than on my tablet.

The opening scenes with Claire and Frank were really well done. It was, to me, that rare moment where visual storytelling brought something to life on a much more visceral level than the written word can... Her horror at seeing Frank for the first time, knowing that in her mind she was seeing Jack, and again when he lost his temper with her... That was done so well and the acting was flawless. Jamie may be the hot one, but Frank/Jack is the best actor in the bunch IMO.

It did veer away from the book more than the first season but I feel almost like that had to happen. The fans on whole would not have been pleased with Jamie-less episodes. LOL. And I think the spirit of the story is staying true to the books, even if the storytelling has shifted a bit.

So I just watched. I am not a book reader...don't want to be disappointed like I am with Game of Thrones (when the show is different from the books). I liked it but I guess I don't know why or how she ended up back in 1949 with Frank. I saw her on the ground by the stones so I guess she came back the same way she went. And I assume this season is going to be the story of why this has happened. And I also can assume that it's not long after we see her in France due to her being barely pregnant both back in time with Jamie and in 1949 with Frank.

You are close, but not. They are in France in I think it was 1746 but she ends up with Frank 3 years later (what we see in the beginning). Yes, this will be the story of why she ends up choosing to go back and is pregnant. So think about this. Her pregnancy that you see right now in France is 3 years prior to the one that has occurred and sends her back to her present time.

Yeah I was coming on here to post that I wondered if this is not that first pregnancy.

Well, I hate to give spoilers for those who don't want to know so stop reading here if you don't want to know: Text is in white so it won't jump out at you.

She has a miscarriage with that first pregnancy. I think in the books she decides to go back with the second pregnancy so she can get better care as well as Culloden is about to happen.

.

I was wondering if they just cut that out..... (I am not say what "that" is in case people don't want to know...)

I think we will see *that* happen while she is in Paris.

Oh, ok.. so they are running two separate timelines....makes sense... I was thinking it was supposed to be the *same one*

Oy! It's going to get confusing... lol
