OUTLANDER Fans - Have you heard?

August 9th........I think the first eight episodes will start on August 9th, with the second half of Season 1 airing in early 2015. I believe that is what I read somewhere...

I stopped reading Book 8 and re-reading Book 1 so that I'm all ready for a week from Saturday (Aug. 9th). I can't wait :thumbsup2

I've been seeing all the Q&A posted on their FB page and I really think that they did an excellent job at casting the show!

I was actually able to go to the Starz Outlander Premiere Party while we were at Comic-Con last week. They started the night off with live music from the show, including the new piece Jamie and Claire which was absolutely breath taking!!!
After, we actually got to watch the entire first episode, and I was completely blown away! It was GREAT!!!

The funniest part of the night was watching both Tobias Menzies (Frank/Black Jack) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire) be so obviously embarrassed during the intense "love" scenes which were a bit more played up for the show. Tobias would cover his face with his hands and Caitriona just sunk down in her seat. Different from the book, just to include Frank's character a bit more in the beginning, but Diana said she completely approved.

There is very very obviously REAL life chemistry between Caitriona and Sam (Jamie). ;)

DD(22) and I almost fainted when we realized all of the empty chairs around us were meant for the actors! Lol

Briar Rose that sounded awesome!!!! I loved the book series and can't wait for the TV series to start!! Set the DVR today so I don't forget!!!

I love this series. We don't have Starz. I hope they have the shows available on the internet or Netflix or something.

Thanks for sharing. This is awesome!

I already set my DVR for the series. I won't be home to watch the first few episodes. But, if what they say is true, and we get to watch the first episode on 2 Aug. I'm so down.

I called to add Starz to my cable package, and after reviewing some of the package offerings, I was able to add Starz and my bill went down by 5 bucks!!

Same here......added Starz and upgraded internet speed for same price I was paying.

It was definitely a night I'll never forget!! :) We were just extremely lucky!! That's not the kind of thing we ever go to, tho is sure wish we did! Haha

Honestly tho, I can't wait for you all to see the show, and hear what you think about it. For me, it was soo much like what I had pictured in my head while reading the books! Definitely the closest book to movie/show I've ever seen, tho I am pretty happy with Game of Thrones too. I still think this one is a better adaptation! And I have to say the actors/actresses are even more handsome/beautiful in person. I was stunned! Lol

We also met several of the Hannibal cast at Nobu, the Penny Dreadful cast (LOVE this show), Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffelo from the Avengers, and DD sat right beside Ansel Elgort and across from Colin Ferguson on the plane back home!!

Oh..how could I forget! this is the OUTLANDER thread! Haha We ran into Graham McTavish (Dougal) three different times! We started to worry he would think we were stalking him! Hahaha Seriously tho, he was amazingly sweet!

This was our first time at Comic-Con, I have to say I'm totally hooked!! Lol

Rose what an amazing adventure!!!
How cool you got to go!!

Glad you enjoyed the show! That is good to hear.
I really felt a movie would have never done justice to it.

Thanks for the info on watching it early. I just dowloaded the starz app because I know neither of the tvs will be available at midnight. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing those tvs at best buy for my kids' rooms today lol

I watched it early this morning. I  it!!!! Can't wait to see how the rest of the book is done.

Just watched it. O M G !!!!!!

Catriona Balph as Claire is perfect.

I have loved Sam since the getgo, but I wasn't sure in the first scene--then he jumped off the horse, covered in blood, and he WAS Jamie.

Graham as Dougal--not at all how I pictured Dougal from reading the book looks wise, but attitude wise? Awesome. Can't wait to see him gathering money for Prince Tearlach.

Loved Rev Wakefield, but was hoping Roger was curled up asleep in a chair--if he was there, I missed him.

Loved Frank, much more than in the book. Black Jack--oh yeah, Tobias can pull off the evil depravity.

I want MORE!!! NOW!!!!!

I'm going to go watch it again...

just finished the first ep...starz on demand has it up already. very well done! can't wait for more. wish I was strong enough to wait a month or so so I could binge watch instead of having to wait.

DH and I watched the first episode yesterday and were thrilled that it was so well done. I'm happy that it's following the book so closely. My biggest fear was that it would turn into another True Blood which just immediately ditched the books for some ridiculous plot lines.

The casting is just spot on. Hooray! We loved everything about it.

Did you have some kind of psychic connection to my brain when I was watching it because my reactions were the exact same as yours.

I was keeping an eye out for Roger sleeping in a chair too and didn't see him either and I was a little bummed about that.

I was unsure about Claire about halfway through the episode but once she started tending to Jamie's shoulder in the croft I was sold.

Also, I had been on the fence about Jamie. I just wasn't feeling it until he jumped off the horse covered in blood and I was all "well heellllooooooo Jamie".

I think I'm going to have to watch it again today too.

Adapting any book, especially one as detailed as this, is an incredible challenge and I while I was excited for the show I didn't hold out terribly high hopes for it. I was incredibly impressed and can't wait for more episodes. Let's just hope it doesn't turn into a situation like Game of Thrones has where the show catches up to the books too fast and starts changing the story line to the point the story is unrecognizable.

The only thing that annoyed me about it was when the clansmen were speaking Gaelic they didn't put subtitles in. I mean I can see that when they did that it left us identifying with Claire a bit since she didn't understand it either and I have read the first book a few times so I knew the basic gist of what they were saying but still, I would have appreciated some translation there.
