I'm such a nerd,
but I love watching Space Shuttle launches and learning about space and stuff.
And visiting Kennedy Space Center in Florida is pretty awesome too.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get in a space shuttle and go into outer space?

I have.
I'd love to travel to outer space one day.
But I'm afraid to.
I prefer to keep my feet safely planted on solid ground.

So yeah,
If you got the chance to go into outer space, would you do it?

ETA:Sorry if I was like, all over the place.I wore my stupid brain today.

I love space stuff, but I'd be so freaked out to go into space. I just have this fear of like, floating off into nowhere.

Hm.
I probably wouldn't.
Go ahead and preach me for being a party pooper who doesn't take oppurtunities. I'd be scared.. well poopless (I'd use another word but idk if I'm allowed to use it on the DIS and I'm too lazy to find out.)

In first grade I wanted to be an astronaut. XD

But now I would be wayy to scared to go.

Yes Kennedy Space Center is so cool,I went in 5th grade.
We were having lunch with a retired astronaut and the butter was shaped like a rocket ship, haha.

I love the movie October Sky and Apollo 13 was amazing.
But even if I had the chance I probably wouldn't. I'd be too afraid.
But even though I would love to see the Earth from space...but again I'd be too scared to go.

I like talking about Planets and stars and everything. But I'd rather observe them from the ground.

Honestly, I wouldn't be scared at all. I'd jump at the chance to do it. I didn't realize how many people would be scared to do that.

October Sky is one of my favorite movies.

I went to the Kennedy Space Center. I found it was a waste of my parents money. We didn't really enjoy ourselves, nothing seemed neat, and the food was horrible. I found it boring.. and tacky.

i'm sorry. but october sky was probably the worst movie i've ever seen in my life.

and it's kinda different for me, shelby. since i knew someone.

not that i wouldn't be scared if i didn't. but it's just different.

I understand.

But I guess I view it differently than you do. Columbia was an accident. I know people that have died in car accidents. I still get in cars. I just made a thread that was inspired by this. I'd die for the chance to experience that.

people get in cars much more than they do space ships.

but i understand totally where you're coming from.

I love space. Everything about it. I get so excited when we study astronomy in school.

October Sky is a great movie, btw. The book is better, Rocket Boys. It's written by the main character.

i dont really like space, i dont get it.
but yesterday i went to kennedy space center with my family since we're down in florida now and we saw the shuttle launch. it was pretty cool. i took some pics.. there as good as i could get with it going so fast/my bad view [a palm tree was in my way] but yeah ill post them soon!

I'd be scared to like die on the way up becuase all that pressure on you, I dont think I could handle it.

I loved October Sky ;)

i'd love the chance to go to space but i would probably get freaked out and leave at the last minute... isn't there this thing where they fly this Boeing 727 and then drop it giving the passengers on board weightlessness. It's gutted out so people can float without any obsticles.

i think the closest i'll get to going to outer space is through Mission: Space.

I think we are twins separated at birth!! I'm fascinated with everything outer space and NASA related. I can't get enough. When we had DirectTV we had a NASA channel that I would watch constantly. We, sadly, switched to Verizon Fios, and the NASA channel is no longer in my life. :sad1:

I can't explain it, but I feel such a connection with space travel. When I have the NASA channel on TV and there was a space launch/landing, I would watch that channel all day. I couldn't get enough of it and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Even looking at the space shuttles, I feel a tug inside of me, kind of like "I need to get on that and go up there".

I ride Mission:Space all the time, because that's probably the closest I'll get to space travel. Unless they lower the price for non-astronauts to ride to $100 dollars for a trip, then I can afford it.

Hopefully soon, I'll convince my parents to take a day off from Disney and go see Kennedy Space Center and go on a tour. That would make my life. We planned to go last December while we were down there for my birthday, but we had to cancel the trip because my nephew was due to be born around then. So maybe another future trip.
