I didn't want to read the whole blog. How does she know what outer space smells like? She couldn't smell it with a space helmet on and they couldn't open a window to let the aroma in. Did they collect some "space air" in a jar or something and bring it in for her to smell?

Just curious (but not enough to read the whole blog).

They don't wear the space suits the whole time. When the Soyuz capsule attaches itself to the space station, the air that is captured in between is what she was smelling.

I was kinda wondering the same thing! I actually would really doubt that space smells like anything since it is just empty space...if there are no particles or atoms, there is nothing to attach to your olfactory receptors. Space doesn't smell like anything. I suspect she was smelling fuel from the space shuttle or something, but I seriously doubt that space smells like cookies!
