I've read the "unofficial Disney" and all the rest regarding weather, but I've got to ask this question. We've got a choice of February, March or April for a Disneyworld vacation. We'd prefer February. Since we'll be staying in one of the resorts, a great pool would be a bonus.

On an average day in February, is it warm enough (air temperature and water temperature) to go swimming? If it is, we'll make our ressies. If it isn't then we'll downgrade the importance of a pool or wait until March or April

Any input would be appreciated!

It's a balmy 75 for February, that's swimming weather for me!

FYI - pools at Disney ARE heated!

Michigan? I'd wager you'll be fine swimming in February! I'm from upstate New York and have gone swimming both times I've been in January, and once it was rather chilly--but it wasn't 20 below!

We traveled in Feb '03. we were there for a week, and 2 days were pool days. The rest were too chilly. We are from NY and Chicago, so as snow birds, the days we felt we could be in the pool were probably cooler than what a southener would consider warm enough for a swim.

We were at AKL in Feb '04 -- swam every afternoon, no problem... wasn't hot, but was easily warm enough to swim. Nights were chilly, but the pool was warm! Hot tubs are great on a cool night!

We stayed at Pop this past Feb. It was a cold weekend. The evening temps went in the 30's while we were there. The pool temp was great! We went swimming at 10pm. Getting out of the pool was a different story. The restroom at the pool was heated, so headed in there quickly and put on sweats and ran to the room.

We have been a couple of times in February. On each trip my children were able to swim at least two of the days we were there. The pools are heated if that helps you with your planning.

I've been down during Feb. several times. It has always been warm enough to swim on most of the days we were there. We've really had some great weather in Feb.! :sunny:

We went during a cold Feburary one year. Jeans and sweatshirts in the parks.

I still swam in the pool.

Since the pools are heated you will see people swimming no matter how cold the air temp is. However, you will not find me in a pool in February.

We went in February a few years back and spent quite a bit of time in both the pools and the waterparks. In fact my son got food poisoning and got sick in the shallow pool at the AS resort.

It was nice to see that they immediately closed the pool and cleaned it. It was not so nice to be told "don't worry, it happens all the time. Yuck.

Oh, one of the water parks will likely be closed though. Blizzard beach was closed for rehab when we were there.

Fellow Michigander here , unless it's in the 50's or so, you'll find my kids' swimming at least once during our vacation in Jan. I mean we've just left 20 degree weather, so even 60 is balmy.

Lots of Michiganders on this board it would seem....maybe it's something in the water that makes us disneyholics...

in the winter it will always be hit or miss. We've had winters that were balmy and winters that they had a freeze watch on the florida citrus groves and my kids were in parkas, hats and mittens (i have the cutest picture of them that way on the boat to MK from many years ago)

but you can always swim if you so desire....the pools are heated..

We were there in Feb & our boys were in the pool every chance they had. They keep the pools heated, so you should be fine. :sunny:

Brr...I have been twice in February & both times they were too chilly for me to swim.

Even though we wore shorts some days I was able to catch a cold from Splash Mountain & my last day I was sick & couldn't go in the park even though I wanted/needed to.

If you do book, don't tell your kids that they can go swimming just in case it is too cold.

Also I have been the last week March/first week of April & the days were warm enough to swim but in the evening we switched to pants & a light jacket on some days.

Another Michigander here. We love going in February and will be there February 2006. One year we went in early January and had to buy a hat and mittens for our little one (then about 3 years old). I think she still woulda swam, but DH and I wouldn't take her. Anyway, as everyone has mentioned the pools at the resorts and the water parks are heated. I believe that when we went in February of this year, Typhoon Lagoon was closed for rehab, so we went to Blizzard Beach. We are headed down again next month and I'm a little fearful that it will be too hot. February is a great time to go -- remember that value season is the first half of February (when we go) and then it becomes peak season.
