After Fantasmic, we headed home sore and exhausted, our spirits broken, hard as we tried to be positive. We got to bed fairly early (for us, anyway) and tried to sleep it off. Day three was a free day, our basic plan was to sleep in, go swimming then head to the All Star Resorts for lunch so we could get some cute photos, and after that a priority seating at ‘Ohana for dinner before checking out the shops downtown. It went pretty much along those lines, although we ran quite a bit later than we planned to so we had to make some modifications.

We had a great time swimming, and although we couldn’t take our son down the waterslide with us, he loved watching us from the bottom. One thing I forgot to mention about our day at Epcot/MGM was the return of my almost incapacitating stomach pains that I thought were supposed to have been removed with my gal bladder back in December- apparently this was not the case and they started to flare up as soon as we started walking towards the tram to the TTC (go figure)… On a positive note, they were a bit more mild (which is why I said ALMOST incapacitating, as opposed to the old ones, which could knock me off my feet) and went away within a few minutes, offering me a brief but pleasant break in between flare-ups. While I was on the verge of tears for much of the Epcot part of the day, by the time we got to MGM they had tapered off quite a bit, and were much more manageable. That said, we went about our day at Old Key West as planned, had a great time, showered and headed to our now early dinner at the All Star Movies.

I was in better spirits, but my stomach was really flaring up again and I was completely exhausted to the point of having to sit down every minute or so just to catch my breath. I don’t know why it hit me so hard- as you’ll find out later I had no problems going almost 18 hours at Magic Kingdom! Anyhow, it did, and so I decided I could handle the All Star Movies but not the other two. We had our very late lunch in the food court and proceeded (slow but sure) to check out the resort, and managed to have a pretty good time.

While wandering around, I found the hammock in Fantasia and decided to try it out (I had actually never been in a hammock before!). The second I did, I had found my Heaven!!! I sent my husband and my son to explore the rest of the grounds, with a ban on the Toy Story area until I was ready to go with them, and I closed my eyes and just laid there. It was the most comfortable and peaceful rest I’ve ever had in my life, and if I had a yard to put it in, I’d be the proud new owner of a rope hammock right now- and would probably be laying in it… It was probably ten to fifteen minutes later that they returned, and although I hadn’t slept, I felt 100% refreshed! I couldn’t stop beaming and going on and on about how much better I felt, I was amazed! My husband was happy to see me so happy, so our day brightened quite a bit then. I was feeling great, our son seemed to be doing well and my husband was feeling good, we were having a good time- finally! It didn’t take more than five minutes for the pains to come back, and quite strong this time, but still they subsided fairly quickly and stayed away for about fifteen minutes at a time, so in between I felt great.

We decided to skip our seating at ‘Ohana since we had eaten such a late lunch, and because we were tired of having to rush around. At this point, it seemed like the whole trip was spent trying to get from one place to another and my husband and I both found ourselves wondering where the magic was and if we’d return more than one time once all of our future kids were old enough to enjoy it.

We headed downtown to the Marketplace and strolled through the shops there. We took time to let our son play at the Lego Store, where he had a great time even if he was still a bit under the weather. My husband and I were a bit disappointed in the little play structure they had, we were expecting something bigger and made to look like Legos. There was an obnoxious cast member who followed the kids around literally destroying whatever they had just built the second they moved away from it, whether they were done or not just so she could put them away! She did it to my son and he just looked at her like she was crazy and moved to the next station… She made an encore appearance for us at the little ramp where you roll the cars down- he was playing as were two or three other kids and she literally shoved her broom in between them and grabbed a car off of the ramp, disassembled it and threw the parts back in the container! I guess she thought it wasn’t being played with? Well, it was, and if she had looked for two seconds she would have seen that. I think I have video of her lurking somewhere, we laugh at it now, but it really made us mad at the time- why would you do that to KIDS in DISNEY WORLD??? Our son didn’t notice, so we all still had a good time and we loved all the Lego statues, they were awesome!

We strolled through more stores, and while we were in Once Upon a Toy a storm came through and drenched everyone! Good thing we had our ponchos and stroller cover with us, when we were done we headed out and had a great time. Our son loved the rain falling on the stroller cover and was playing with his Nemo light spinner at the same time- he thought it was hilarious to make it hit the cover! We all loved the way the place looked all lit up, the twinkling lights in the trees and the lights across the lake- it really was magical.

We were having a great time in spite of my discomfort, but it finally got to a point where I couldn’t take it anymore- I was again on the verge of tears and now to add insult to injury, I was having trouble breathing and my inhaler wasn’t doing much. At this point we decided to eat dinner and go home, so we headed off to Wolfgang Puck Express, where we had our hearts set on eating even before we got down there. Of course they were closed early due to a computer glitch, why would we have even expected something to go our way at this point? Frustrated at the fact that no matter how hard we tried to stay positive, there was something literally waiting for us at every turn to dampen our spirits, we headed to the closest restaurant- Earl of Sandwich. I wasn’t really in the mood for sandwiches, so I wasn’t expecting to have a good meal, but they were awesome! Unfortunately all I was able to eat was about five bites of mine, but it was really yummy just the same. I was feeling really lousy at this point, so we sat there awhile before heading home.

We arrived home around eleven and got ready for bed, relieved that our son hadn’t gotten sick today- although he barely ate anything, which would turn out to be a bit of a blessing when he got sick again around five am… Go figure, this was supposed to be our Magic Kingdom day, and our last full day down there at that! I didn’t think I’d have so much to say about our non park day, so I’ll end it here and leave the rest for later. Thanks for reading!

I need to hear that the Magic Kingdom offered some Magic to you guys!!

Poor baby.. He is such a cutie too..

I'll probably post the rest tonight after my son goes to bed, I'll post the link too.

Oh my...your son not feeling good the first day, you not feeling good the second day... :sad2:

The third day MUST be the charm, right? :teeth:

Ya know, I spent 7 nights at All Star Movies and NEVER knew there was a hammock there! Sure wish I would have seen it! We are staying at Caribbean Beach next month; one reason I chose that resort because I knew they had hammocks! :teeth:

And what's up with those workers at the Lego store?

You'll have to read my next report to find out :earboy2: Maybe they just put the hammock up at ASMo? Anyway, I will definately stay there for part of our next trip, since OKW is so much more expensive on the weekends. I'm working on part three rigt now, look for the link.

Wow, sorry to hear about your pain you were having. You said you had gall bladder surgery and you are still having symptoms. I'm on Nexium and I swear I get gas lock -up at least once a month. I walk around holding my upper stomache, I was feeling your pain when you explained it.

With your little guy, it took over 2 weeks for my dd to stop puking when she was 3 years old. Just when you think they are over it, it starts all over again. It's like their stomache muscle can only tolerate certain foods and something can just set it off.

I wonder if that's what it is, it is in my upper stomach, right between where my ribs curve out...

On a side note, part three is now up, check the OP for links.

I know Florida isn't exactly Mexico- but could it be the water? The same thing happened to me 2 trips ago and I was doubled over in pain for most of the trip. On our last trip I avoided water and ice cubes- only drank bottled, and it never happened. It could be a coincidence, but I have heard people with "weak stomachs" don't always do well on Orlando water. Anyway- I'm glad you seem to be taking some time to slow down. On our last trip it seemed like we were making a priority seating, waiting for a table, eating, or waiting for a check. I am going to do counter service only next time around- the kids seemed to be tired of the whole autograph / picture thing after one character meal anyway- go figure! Anxious to see how it all ends up!
Your family is beautiful!

Two posts already about possible diagnosis for your pain - I will throw in that my sister had gall bladder surgery (her description of the pain was almost identical to yours) and still had "spells" like you describe afterwards, but hers got progressively worse (rolling on the floor in pain). The doctors finally determined that she still had a stone in either a tube or duct that is NOT removed in the standard surgery which was causing the incredible pain she was suffering. It took them MONTHS to figure this out - poor thing.

Anyway - your son is adorable - can't wait to read the rest of your report!

Hey there, I have a hammock in my back yard and we are both in Michigan, so you can come over any time you like and hang in it.

So sorry to hear about your pain and bad luck. Sometimes things just click, sometimes they don't. Our trip we got lucky, but so often we don't. At least you didn't let it ruin your whole trip.

You know, soemone else mentioned this to me! I told them that I don't think it is that, because when they did an ultrasound to find out what was causing the pain in the first place, they said that they were all still in my gal bladder. I will definately ask about that though, just in case!
