Our warrior princess wishes for the World

Hello again ~
There was an article today in our local newspaper about the new Toy Story Mania ride and it's created a flurry of new Disney excitement in our house.
I figured it was a perfect time to get on here and keep the hub-bub going.

Because I am an extremely nebby ( that means nosy to you non-Pittsburghers );) person, I've been checking out GoofyDoo's pre trip report and saw all the amazing clothes the DisBoutiquers made for her kids. It made me cry to think of those beautiful people taking such time and care to make these special gifts for others. And then to think that they will do that for my kids...I don't think I have ever felt more blessed than I have since this whole Make A Wish thing came about. There's the trip itself, then this fantastic new community of friends that I have found, and now these "fairy godmothers" who will make everything even more special. :flower3:

So, anywho...I mentioned before that I had originally thought that we would want to stay on Disney property for this trip. I had heard from the Unite board that there were gift bags for the kids when you checked into GKTW and I didn't want my babies to miss out on anything if we stayed at Disney, so I thought I would make my own "goodie" bags for the kids. Well, we are staying at GKTW, but I liked the idea so much, I'm doing it anyway.

So, I've started surfing Ebay and I've purchased a couple of pins for each kid, their lanyards to put the pins on and a pair of green Disney Crocs for Wil. I didn't get Ali any Crocs because they just fitted her for orthotics at PT and she's going to probably have to wear tennis shoes alot if not all of the time.
I've been on the Creative DisSigns board and had a couple of designs done for the kids and then I'm going to get tote bags and put the special designs on the outside .
I'm trying to find other Disney things to put in their goodie bags and then I have to decide when to give them to them. I was thinking about presenting them to the kids at the airport and having them be their carry-ons. I haven't totally decided yet.

DH was just making fun of me because I printed a Disney Packing List off the internet and we still have 140 days to go. And, yes, I have the number of days counted out on my calender.

I've started playing the Disney Classics cd's when we're in the car to get the kids familiar with the music. I know there's a Disney cd that's the music from the parks and I intend to get that off of Ebay too.

I guess it's easy to see that I can't wait for this trip!! DH and I went on our Honeymoon and we're going to be getting out those tapes so we can show the kids some of the things we saw.

That's all for now. Hugs and kisses to everyone. I know there's some other trips that are coming in just a few days and I'm thrilled that there's going to be more trip reports to read!!!:grouphug:

Misty, please PM me your address. We picked up some great Disney items and plan to send a package treats to each of our fellow wish trip families. I have some great stuff to send you for Ali and Wil to keep them busy on the plane. I won't say too much because I want it ot be a surprise :) Thanks in advance!

~Amber

p.s. We are getting really excited too!

Oh my gosh, Amber! You are so sweet!!! Thank you for even thinking about us! I really hope we'll somehow meet up in Disney!

Well, we got some pixie dust delivered right to our doorstep today...courtesy of Amber!
Wil kept dancing around while I opened it and was so excited that there were items in there for him too. ( We've kind of stopped calling this "Ali's Wish Trip" and just call it "our" wish trip because Wil didn't understand why Ali got to make a wish and he didn't. He's only 6 and that kind of stuff is hard for a 6 year old to understand. )
Amber went way above the call of duty! Wil was thrilled with the Star Wars coloring book and the stamp kit. He took that out right away and Ali proceeded to take it off of him and stamp all over her body.
I wanted to take pictures to post here, but as usual, Ali was missing her clothing. I haven't mentioned this before, but Ali likes to be naked baby. It sometimes amazes me how fast she can undress. When we went to the OT/PT eval for her and they asked about dressing herself, I told them, she's never tried to dress herself, but she can get undressed 0.6 seconds. So pictures will be forthcoming.

The kids also received post cards from Cinderella and Mickey (I think her screen name is "bucket o' butter). A million thanks to her!!! The kids were so excited, we had to drive over to Pap & Ta's house to show them. Ali kept waving hers in the air and screaming "I see C-rilla" (that's Cinderella to her).
Wil was a little more awestruck than anything. It was so cute.

On Sunday we took DH to the Pittsburgh Airport ( he travels for work ). We don't usually do the drop off routine, but this time we went in and showed the kids where the Southwest ticket counter was and where security was and where we'll get dropped off. They really seemed to enjoy it and I thought a little dry run can't hurt. Then we stood in the parking lot and watched the planes take off for a while. Only 4 more months to go and we'll be on one!!!
It seems so far away and so close at the same time!!!!

Well, that's all for now.

Take care everyone.

Love,
Misty

Things are progressing slowly here.

I've been following Goofy Doo's trip report and showing all of her fabulous pictures to the kids to try to keep them excited. I was really excited to see all the photos of GKTW since the ones on the website are kind of generic. Wil's excited about the Elephant trash cans that suck your garbage in.

I've been collecting some pins from Ebay and got a really great one for Wil. It's a big one featuring Mickey as Luke Skywalker. I'm going to be putting that in his pre-trip goodie bag. He loves Star Wars so I know he'll love it.

Under the heading of of "Completely unrelated to Disney":
Ali is officially potty trained!!! She was nearly trained last April (2007), but then she started having those wicked seizures and it was back to square one. We have no more training pants in the house and she has dozens of new undies with all sorts of pretty designs. She loves them.

We also just received Ali's "sure step" orthotics. The PT had determined that her gait was pretty bad...there's some bone on the top of her foot that, because of the way she was walking, was nearly touching the ground. She's only had them for a few days, but I made a big fuss about them being her " pretty, fancy boots" and she doesn't bother with them. In fact, she tries to show anyone that looks her way. So, hopefully they will do the trick. :thumbsup2

I've started making lists of a bunch of little things like items for a travel first aid kit and stuff cause it makes me feel like the trip is closer than it is. But in two weeks, school will start up again and then Ali's birthday and then Wil's birthday and it'll probably be here before I know it. And despite all the pre-planning and lists, I know I'll be running around the few days before we leave trying to get everything ready. Such is my nature :confused3 :lmao:

Good night, sleep tight

Misty

Congrats on the pottytraining!!! What a milestone.

I'm glad you're doing the pin thing. I wish we'd started earlier. The kids saw them at WDW and US, so on our trip to Walmart after Day 5, we found some that were pretty reasonable and we let the twins get a few. We got lanyards there, too, but I wouldn't recommend them. The next day the black Mickeys on Clay's started rubbing off on his neck! I couldn't believe it, but sometimes you get what you pay for. We aren't into really collecting the most elite pins or anything, so the pins from Walmart did fine for our kids. It would be a fun hobby, though, and it's fun to see others' pins. Kind of like a charm bracelet.

I posted some pics of our villa for you on my TR :).

I'm not so bad as to plan everything down to the last minute. I'll make some basic plans, but will probably toss everything out the minute we get there. It's more something to kill time between now and December.

:dance3:

I totally agree :) My husband now sits at his laptop with earphones in. He says it's not to tune me out but to hear better, but I know better

How's the planning coming? Congrats on the Potty training. We are in a little bit of a lull with that around here. Only one baby among the grandkids and Carson is only 18 months old so I think it will be a little while but Grandma keeps the stepstool in the bathroom for those with short legs :rotfl:

Hello again ~
Thanks to those of you who are following along. :lovestruc

Yesterday was the 120 days till Disney mark! Considering we were over two hundred days away when we started planning, that's not TOO far off. I'll be really excited when we get down to double (and then single) digits!

We decided to take the crew on a "trial run" for Disney. Really, we visit a local theme park every year, but this year we related it to Disney. ;)

Here in PA, there's a very family friendly amusement park called Idlewild Park and it has three parts - StoryBook Forest, the regular ride part, and then the Soak Zone. We were there when it opened and we closed it down. The cast that's going to Disney was in attendance and we had a blast.

I'm going to try to insert some photos. I know I did it before, but use it or lose it and it's been a while. I'll try one and then see what happens.

YEAH!! I can be taught!!

So Story Book Forest is little houses and scenes from nursery rhymes and fairytales. Lots of photo ops here! Between my sister and DH taking photos, I felt like I was walking around with the Jolie-Pitt kids :rotfl: But I DO love pictures of my kids, so I'm not complaining.

Here are Wil and Ali as Ragedy Ann and Andy:

and here we are in the middle of Story Book Forest:

So then onto the regular rides and funnel cake!!!

My kids are real theme park warriors...especially Wil. He's really not afraid of anything when it comes to riding things. There were alot of spinny rides in Idlewild, so it was good that we had extra adults to take turns. Wil has an amazing ability to go on mulitple spinny rides back to back to back. Not so much for his mama!

Wil will sometimes complain when we're out and about around home, like at the mall, that he's tired of walking, but he never complained once about that in the park. He did ask my sister for a piggy back once or twice, but he had earned it. I hope that's a good sign!

Then it was on to the Soak Zone which is a big water park. My kids LOVE the water, although Ali suddenly has decided she doesn't like the water coming at her. She's fine to play in the pool or her sand and water table, but the shower and anything that squirts or dumps water are a no go anymore.

Wil on the other hand, is in 7th heaven in any kind of water situation.

Ali enjoyed just watching Wil get drenched.

There were slides and a giant playground climby thing all in water that the kids could play at. We spent a nice part of our day here and Wil was in the water so much that he got rather pruny:

At this point, Ali decided to konk out for a little bit. But she woke up when she smelled more funnel cake!b:laughing: (That's my girl!)

Ok, I know I'm supposed to make the pictures smaller and I thought I did. But apparently not, cause those last ones were HUMUNGOID!! What am I doing wrong?

Anyway, we went back thru the park after the Soak Zone and rode any rides that we had missed. Yes, this means more spinning.

But then, Ali heard the evening show going on. It's really just college age kids singing bits of songs in a cheesey kind of show. But it's cute, and Ali LOVES music so we had to stop. Then she started dancing. Now, when Ali dances, she mostly hops up and down, kicks her legs and points her fingers in the air. It's the cutest dang thing!!

Then Wil tried to do some fancy leg kick over Ali's head. In the picture it just looks like he's trying to kick her in the head. :rotfl:

They do make me laugh.

Such fun pictures. I loved them. I clicked on the link on the wishtrippers and it brought me right here. Did you make it part of your Signature? If so, then it will show up everytime you post.

Your children are so cute. I love the dancing. Ali is just darling. Red hair is wonderful. One of my little granddaughters loves to dance to music and even in church when she hears the organ or the singing, she is dancing. Good music truly is good for the soul!

Thanks for sharing
Denise

I LOVE the pics! Storybook Forest would be soooo up my alley!! The kids look like they are totally prepared for WDW to me. :)

YEAH!!! Now that I am done with my trip report I have more time to keep up on all of yours! Your little ones are absolutely beautiful.

Let me see what I can come up with for shirts...I might be able to figure something out for you.I need a few days to play with a design.I will let you know what I figure out.No worries- we will get you hooked up with family shirts one way or another.;)

Good morning ~
I've been absent for a few days trying to deal with back to school issues.
DS is having trouble adjusting to 1st grade. It's only the second week, but every day this week, he wakes up crying and doesn't want to be away from me. It makes me feel so bad. He never had any trouble with preschool or kindergarten so I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. Poor little guy.

Anyway, today is 100 days till Disney!!!! Tomorrow will be double digits!!!

Heather ~ thanks for your offer to help with the shirt designs!! I loved yours!!! Its very kind of you to offer to help me with ours!

Big hugs to everyone!!!

Misty

   yeah it's almost double digit time. The pictures are so cute of the kids.

YAY! I just found your PTR... I love the pics of your little ones, they are adorable!! My son, Nick is getting a wish granted but we are still waiting on the date.. waiting is so hard. I can't wait to keep up with you and your family!

Hey Howdy Hey all!!!

We're into DOUBLE DIGITS!!! Only 89 days until Disney!!!

So now I'm starting all my packing lists and lists of things I still need to buy. Such fun! Today I seperated all the stuff I've bought for the kiddos into two bags...one for Ali and one for Wil. Wil's actually a little ahead in the game...I like things to be even so I need to get a few more things for Ali. Then I'll supplement the bags with candy and other fun little stuff for the trip.

Mom2lilnick ~ I HATE waiting. It has definitely been the hardest part. Everyone else's trip reports really help. And counting by events instead of days is good too. Like, we have DH's birthday, then Halloween, the DS's birthday and then Disney World! ;) Makes the time seem far less than it actually is!

Must go ready the troops for bed.

Good night all.
Misty
