My first attemp at a Pre-Trip Report. :rotfl:
I'm hoping it's not too early & that I don't bore you all.:confused3

My Crew -
Me ~ Although it will be my first trip in about 20 yrs I already have a huge love of Disney. I can relate to every bit of joy, happiness & tears that everyone shares through comments, advice & trip reports. I have been anticipating, dreaming & planning this trip for what seems like forever.
I am 33, run a home daycare (with the greatest families & cutest kid) and at this point in life everything revolves around our three children.

DH ~ 34, truck & trailer mechanic and still thinks Disney is for kids. But in his defence he also hasn't been to Disney in about 20 yrs and just has NO idea. I know after this trip he will be just as hooked....and hopefully wanting to plan another. ;)

DS ~ just turned 13:worship: , I can't believe I'm the mother of a teenager. He is mainly into hockey,he is a goalie on a travel team. He is excited about this trip because he's grown up with friends who go every year. He is definately not into talking about it, looking at pics, watching videos or anything. He says he'd rather wait until we get there and be surprised. He's a bit of a comedian which gets him into trouble most days but he's definately a great kid.

DD ~ 11. She has been a blessing since birth. She is definately an old soul and has such a easy going personality we rarely have to talk to her. In fact if she even talks back a little bit we have to look the other way to hide a smile because it's so out of character. She is definatley like her mom with a love of Disney so huge and with no reason other than the magic as she's never been. She's already talked about getting married there one day, lol. She has her own count down in her bedroom and loves looking over my shoulder at all the pics on the computers of the resort, attractions...she even loves looking at the food pics at the restaurants we'll be at. She figure skated for most of her years but decided last year to take a break and we signed her up for some dance classes.

DD ~ 8. She is definately a Daddy's girl. Athletic like her Dad & into many sports but has a really hard time just sticking to one. She's been so good at everything she's been into but then doesn't have time to excel because she gets bored and switches to another sport...drives us a little crazy, lol. She is also really looking forward to this vacation. After hearing promises for many years I don't think they really believed it until we finally booked.

When reading other trip reports and seeing all the pics of the little ones it makes me a little sad we haven't been yet. But I just have to remember that it's a blessing that we will be going and luckily the kids are still young enough to feel the magic & old enough to be able to enjoy late nights and definately meet all height requirements.
My husband and I were highschool sweethearts and married right after college. We had our children quite young and everything seemed almost perfect. We had definately planned on going to Disney much earlier in life but then my dh was diagnosed with Kidney disease...which eventually lead to a transplant. His Dad was a perfect match, so luckily he only dealt with Dialysis for about 1 yr. We've had many set backs with his health and definately huge financial setbacks but are also very blessed that everything has worked out so well. We now have much less material wise but I do believe it all happened for a reason. We both lived in a world where we thought our brand new house wasn't big enough!?!?...funny cause i'd really love to be back in that house now. So not to bore you with more but life is good we've been blessed in more ways than we realize most days and we do believe all of the health issues was God's little way of waking us up to the real world...the one beyond how big our house is, how new our vehicles are especially with comparing ourselves to others.
That's why this Disney vacation is soooo exciting for us.
We had planned on going Jan-Mar of 09 because our ds will be in gr. 8. I really wanted to do this first trip while everyone was still in gr. school. My sister, husband and her two little ones planned a trip for Sep and booked after getting really great flights...but was a little bummed when her TA told her had she been one day earlier she would of been able to get free dining. That's when it all happened and was meant to be. When she passed on this info I thought what better time to go, if we could qualify for free dining it would really be perfect.
We booked through DU and are booked from Sep 20th-29th. We were originally 8 days/7 nights and then added an extra day...and then flights were much less if we added another day. Noone had to twist my arm. I've been waiting for this trip for so long that even 10 days/9 nights doesn't seem like quite enough, lol.

I know i've written way too much so i'll stop for now.
But will just add we are staying at the POR. My sisters family is staying at POP. We are trying not to wish the summer away but ofcourse can not wait until September! And we are in CANADA!!

We were going to drive. Dh really wanted to drive and thought it would be a lot of fun. The problem for me was that dh wanted to drive straight through without stopping (20 ish hours). I know my dh well, we would make it all the way and then after checking in he would be checking out...and what a waste of a Disney day to be sleeping. Our children have been on many road trips but never on an airplane. So we (well I) decided that flying would be a great experience for the kids. I started searching and came across flights through Spirit....the total was only $655!! Dh agreed that we definately would of spent that much or more driving. So I have two children very excited to be flying and our middle daughter is really nervous, but i'm hoping she'll get over it.

Our flight arrives in Orlando at 8:15 pm, so now I am not sure if we pick up our luggage ourselves...or just leave it be? I've been reading that it takes a few hrs to get back to the room...any suggestions would be wonderful.

Thanks guys!
I was going to post our itinerary and ask for help, but it took me forever to figure out how to post a pic (I know it's really not that difficult, lol). Now it's so late and I have an early morning. Here's a picture of our family taken just before Christmas. I'll post more plans tomorrow.:)
Chad, Bonnie (me), Brady, Casslyn & Brenna.

So, plans seemed great until I signed up for TGM. Most days are green so that is GREAT but I need to try & switch our AK mon & Epcot tues...they are both red days and that definately makes me nervous especially with being so new to everything. Swapping plans for the day is no big deal it's getting new dinner reservations that may be interesting but we are pretty easy with times so we'll see...

You have such an adorable family.

I like the ADRs so far, I myself am pretty new to the Disney restaurants because we usually eat counter service... I hope everything is good. I do hear nothing but great things about Disney dinning.

Thank you so much!

I know there are too many restaurants to choose from, and so many wonderful reviews. I know we can't try everything but I wanted to try and get at least a few of the ones I always read about. I'm a little nervous about the times and especially making it on time to all of them, lol. I hope we catch on to the Disney transportation quickly.

I only had to tweak our plans a little with using TGM...thanks to an awesome travel agent:goodvibes . All we did was switch our Mon & Tues plans.

Mon - we are now going to Epcot and were still able to get reservations at Chefs de France!

Tues - Animal Kingdom and also still able to get Boma but we are going for breakfast instead of dinner...not sure which is a better plan time wise!?!:confused3

I am now in the process of reviewing maps/rides etc & trying to somewhat have a plan...this task seems very involved & a little scary, lol. I read about all these great plans from other trips & am wondering if anyone just goes and does whatever they happen to come across. But i'm afraid to miss so much without a plan & fast passes etc. So hopefully by the next report I will have learned something.

Your children are going to love going to WDW for their first trip. My boys were 6 and 11 when they went the first time in Nov 2006 and it was very magical for them. Experiencing everything through their eyes was everything and more than I could've imagined.

And, as for flying instead of driving - you will arrive much more rested. We drove down in Nov 2006 and this year we're flying and I am much happier about that.

You've picked some good ADRs from what I've read. We're trying a few of those restaurants this time around. We did eat at Ohanas for breakfast last time and the boys had lots of fun there. It was our last morning in WDW and what a great way to leave.

Enjoying your report so far. Your plans look great. You will have a great time!! There's nothing like your first trip to Disney World. Seeing & taking it all in the first trip is just magical. Every trip is fun but the first one is really special. We leave in 13 days for our 5th trip. We are all hooked :lmao: I have a 19 DS & a 15 DS & my hubby. We all love Disney. We will be trying Mama Melroses for the first time this trip so I will let you know how we liked it. A little nervous since the last few reviews have not been so good. We really aren't that fussy though (well maybe my 19 DS) so we will see. We LOVE Boma & go every trip for dinner. Have never been for breakfast but I have heard all wonderful reviews about it.

Thank you so much your message. I am so excited for our first trip. I know they will love it. Now with your children being close in age I'm just curious when you went for the first time if you had a plan for the parks with certain rides etc...or did you just go and wing it? I Keep hearing people who have these plans and I feel overwhelmed with where to begin with it being our first. Glad to hear the children enjoyed Ohanas. I Keep thinking I really need to lose weight before going...just because I know i'm definately going to gain, lol....hopefully my body doesn't notice all the goodies with all the walking we'll be doing. Do you have a trip planned soon?

Looking forward to hearing about Mama Melrose. We were suppose to go to Boma for dinner but then had to make a change and I figured breakfast would be good too. Dinner can be something to look forward to on another trip (fingers crossed, lol). Wow your trip is so close. I hope you have a wonderful time. Thanks for the message hope to hear from you when you return.:)

We went during Thanksgiving week so it was very important to have a touring plan. After reading so much here, I decided to subscribe to Tour Guide Mike (TGM) and thought that it was money well spent. Knowing which days to go where and a better order to do it in allowed us to see much, much more. I did learn that I had to allow extra time for gift shops (there is one after each attraction it seems) and for autograph signing but the boys enjoyed that so much it was worth it as well. I quickly learned that they couldn't spend all their time in the attraction gift shop - you could waste all your time doing that. We put our foot down and told them they could purchase what they wanted at the end of the day if it was something they still wanted. As about the eating and the weight - you will be doing A LOT of walking which will help. For over a month before we went we had "Disney training" and my kids had to go for a long walk every day in order to get used to walking all the time.

Life has been busy, I haven't been able to do half of what i would have liked to. I did pick up a few things at the drug store, but that's about it...nothing worth taking a picture of yet. I also picked up a few new summer pieces for the girls but again nothing worthy of a pic as they aren't Disney. I am hoping to get out this weekend and find albums for the girls (or at least my youngest) for autographs. I'm not going to bother making a count down calendar because our travel agent sent us a Disney Calendar and the kids have been just as excited with that.

I am worried over our Boma breakfast AK morning. It's at 10:00 and if that park is as hot as everyone says i'm thinking we are probably wasting the best part of the day in a restaurant!?! I might start calling and try to switch back to dinner.

Hopefully something a little more exciting to report next time :) ...

I'm excited for you!!:cool1: You really deserve
this vacation! Did you mention which resort your
staying at...on or offsite?? Looking forward to hearing

Thank you so much! We are staying onsite at Port Orleans Riverside!!
Very excited to be on site after waiting so many years.
Thanks for reading!

I agree, this site is awesone for we disney lovers!!
You will love:lovestruc POR, have stayed there
and really enjoyed it. The landscaping is beautiful.
Try and request the magnolia way as it is close
to main bldg(food) and bus stop. The resort is rather
spread out and as you will soon come to realize once
your there, you have plenty of walking in the parks!
The quicker to the bus , the faster all that disney magic
begins!!;)

You are right I do! It's very time consuming though...and i'd get more accomplished if I could just stay away:lmao:
Thanks for that info about POR but is that something I can request with a family of 5? or is that a diffferent area...i'm not too familiar with that yet.
Thanks again!

Just joining in... glad you joined TGM. I think it will help you plan your days... and tour the most.
POR is a great resort... we love it! As for your meals:
Whispering Cayon- we ate there last time... loved it. It was lots of fun and good food. Plus a trip to the WL is fun what a place.

Ohana's is a great last meal too. Fun fun fun!

Looking forward to hearing more. Could you switch your Boma meal to a meal at AK?
That would help you not have such a late start there.
