‘Ohana Dinner 9/17
We had a 6:40 ADR and were seated within 5 minutes.
This was our first visit to ‘Ohana. Homestyle ‘Ohana (family) service was quick; food was plentiful and very tasty. They start with Pineapple-Coconut Bread which is quite tasty. The salad and wings were great but the dumplings were overdone and crispy. You had better be a carnivore to eat here as they bring a lot of meat, Chicken, Pork, Steak and peel-and-eat Shrimp. Most was somewhat overdone and dry except the beef which was prepared medium well and was juicy and flavorful. We loved the bread pudding. DS ordered a hot dog but ate very little as he was too wrapped up in the activities; he loved the ukulele player and hula lessons. I stood in line to get a lei and said mahalo when she gave me one prompting her to plant a big kiss on my cheek and offer me an armful of leis. Service was spotty. 3½ stars
Chef Mickey’s Breakfast 9/18
We had a 7:30 ADR and were seated immediately.
This was our first visit to Chef Mickey’s. Hey, it’s a breakfast buffet. Hot food was hot and well prepared; cold food was cold and tasty. We loved the cheesy potatoes. We saw all characters, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Pluto, and were at MK for a 9:00 AM RD. Service was good. 3½ stars
California Grill Dinner 9/18
We had a 7:25 ADR and were seated at a window-side table within 5 minutes.
This was our second visit to the California Grill and we had the same server we had 3 years ago. Service was attentive and impeccable. They start you off with a basket of delicious hard crusted bread and unsalted butter sprinkled with sea salt (a treatment we saw repeated elsewhere) which we loved. I started with the Dungeness Crab Stack and DW with the Hearts of Romaine. The crab dish was amazing and DW proclaimed the salad the best Caesar she’d ever had. For the main course we both had the Oak-fired Filet of Beef. Both were prepared perfectly, medium and medium well, and were excellent, flavorful cuts of beef. DS had the flatbread (cheese pizza) which he devoured. I finished with the Tanzanian Chocolate Crème Brûlée while DW had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake. The Crème Brûlée was decadent and the cake was also very good. Our dinner was leisurely and dessert was served after Wishes. This is one of our favorites. 5 stars
Kouzzina Dinner 9/20
We had a 6:30 ADR and were seated in about 10 minutes.
This was our first visit to Kouzzina. They start you off with a basket of good bread served with two olive oils, both excellent, and calamata olives. We split the Spanakopita and Spiro’s Greek Salad, both were excellent. I ordered the Lamb Shank and DW the Saffron Pasta. The lamb was fall off the bone tender, succulent and tasty; the pasta was delicately spiced and also tasty. DS ordered the hot dog which was burned to charcoal on one side and promptly replaced; it should not have been served in the first place. He did not like the sweet potato fries but DW loved them. We finished with Baklava and Loukoumades (Greek doughnuts); both were excellent. Except for the hot dog and the occasional waft of something burning the meal was very good. The restaurant was loud and fun with lots off calls of Opa! Service was very good. 4 stars
Tony’s Town Square Dinner 9/21
We had a 5:00 ADR prior to MNSSHP and were seated within 5 minutes. (The place was crazy busy.)
This was our first visit to Tony's Town Square and I was nervous based upon some of the reviews here. We ordered Toasted Cheese and Garlic Bread to start, I the Lasagna and DW the Chicken Parmigiana. Our main dishes were served quickly along with bread, butter and olive oil, but our garlic bread appetizer never came. The waiter offered to bring it but we declined. My Lasagna was huge and good although I felt it had too much meat and not enough cheese. DW enjoyed her Parmigiana that was served on a ridiculous amount of pasta. The sauce, a point of contention here, was very tomatoey (is that a word?) but somewhat bland. Still we liked it and it was nothing like Chef Boyardee. DS had the Pizza and liked it. We payed OOP and skipped dessert. The waiter mistakenly used DDP TS credits and when we asked them to correct the mistake the manager told us to go and enjoy MNSSHP and he’d take care of it. When I checked with the concierge the next morning it was billed correctly. Service was friendly but inconsistent. 3½ stars
Teppan Edo Dinner 9/22
We had a 6:30 ADR and were seated within 5 minutes.
This was our third visit to one of our favorite restaurants at WDW and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Asakusa (sirloin & shrimp), DW the Filet Mignon and DS the Tori (chicken). The chef was skilled and his show was great; not one fumble and lots of flourishes. The food was well prepared and tasted great; DS surprisingly loved his chicken and udon noodles. My chocolate ginger cake was yummy; DW and DS had soft serve ice cream. 4½ stars
Sanaa Dinner 9/23
We had a 6:30 ADR and were seated at a savannah window-side table within 15 minutes, our longest wait of the trip.
This was our first visit to Sanaa and it is now our absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. We started with an appetizer sampler consisting of Potato and Pea Samosas, Lamb Kefta Kabobs and Roasted Cauliflower and the Indian Bread Service with Naan, Onion Kulcha and Paneer Paratha with Cucumber Raita, Mint Chutney and Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus. Everything was very nicely spiced and excellent. I ordered the Spicy Durban Chicken and Coconut Curry Lamb and DW the Paneer Cheese and Spinach and Spicy Peas, Chickpeas and Potatoes. We shared dishes and everything was fantastic. There was plenty of food and the spicing was perfect. DS had the pizza, again, and devoured the whole thing. We finished with Chai Cream and Mango Berry Tapioca Pudding. I loved the Chai Cream and DW loved her Tapioca. We’ll definitely be back to Sanaa. Service was excellent and the pace of the meal was right on. A very enthusiastic 5 stars
The Wave Dinner 9/24
We had a 6:30 ADR and were seated in about 10 minutes.
This was our first visit to The Wave. They start you off with a basket of delicious hard crusted bread and unsalted butter sprinkled with a different sea salt than used at CG. We started by splitting The Wave Cobb salad which was served deconstructed and very good but really too small to split. I ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin and DW the Chili-Soy Marinated Flat Iron Steak. Both meals were well prepared and quite tasty; the parsley root puree was quite interesting and very good. DS son had pizza again. I had the Freshly Made Gelato, a trio of Popcorn, Rocky Road and Peanut Butter and Jelly while DW had American Flavors, a trio of Mississippi Mud Pie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, a Key Lime Cube fresh Citrus Whipped Cream and Boston Cream Pie; they were all excellent and just the right amount. Service was attentive. We liked The Wave but this is one we could skip in the future. 3½ stars
Crystal Palace Breakfast 9/25
We had an 8:05 ADR and were seated within 5 minutes.
This was our second time to breakfast at the Crystal Palace. As I said about Chef Mickey’s, it’s a breakfast buffet. Hot food was hot and well prepared; cold food was cold and tasty. I ordered two eggs over easy that were cooked to perfection. Again, we saw all characters, Piglet, Tigger, Pooh and Eeyore, and were out in MK just after the 9:00 AM RD. Service was good. 3½ stars
Giordano’s Pizza Delivery Dinner 9/25
I know this is not a Disney restaurant but I had to relay our experience. We were staying at the Contemporary and ordered a pepperoni and sausage deep dish stuffed pizza. We were told it would take 45 minutes to an hour for delivery. It arrived 1 hour and 10 minutes after we ordered. They call your room/cell phone and have you meet them in the hotel lobby. The pizza was the best Chicago style pizza we’ve ever had besting Gino’s East. They do not deliver utensils, plates or napkins so visit your local QS place to pick them up while waiting for delivery. 4 stars
