Our Trick AND Treat- DD's Surprise Bday Trip! 11/4 Get Movin'

Hi there!

I have not been DISing for a few weeks so I am slowly catching up on all my threads.

I know I posted a quick note on FB but wanted to say congrats on the house again! Hope you are getting settled in. Moving stinks! We had to move a bunch of stuff around yesterday since we are getting some painting done and that was a pain - - I don't even want to think about when we find a new house.

:banana::banana:So glad to hear your mom is doing well and does not require any further treatment.

What a great way to honor your friend and to keep her memory alive. When they get older, I am sure her daughters will really appreciate that.

What great news about the pin code! I received a pin code too but it is the same time as free dining which I think would be a better deal. Plus DH says no Disney for awhile.

That is crazy about Aisling's school! We have to have a background check - both criminal and child abuse and if you are going to volunteer a lot you have to have the TB test but that's it. I have never heard of three hours of training. Maybe that is the difference between private and public school?

That's a tough decision for your trip! We always spend the most time at the MK but on our last trip we actually did two days at DHS instad of one since there are so many shows/times you have to worry about plus rides. Since we had two days there, we actually did things we didn't get to on our first two trips like One Man's Dream, the Animation Academy (which was fun), Lights Motor Action, HSM, The Great Movie Ride, etc. Plus, we loved Toy Story Mania! Either choice will be great and I am sure Aisling will have a great time no matter what you do.

I know you had fun at NKOTB (except for your injury). I can't believe they are touring again. I used to love them when I was in high school.

Hope all is well and you are not pulling your hair out. Thanks for helping my avoid all of the piles on my desk for a little while!! (Because we all know that procrastination will make the issues go away - lol)

My internet should be back on at my house when I get home!!! Hope to start updating again soon!!!:banana::banana:

I THOUGHT my computer would be back up Tuesday but my internet service provider (not naming names ;) COMCAST) had other ideas! We JUST got internet back. My husband's friend who does IT work came over and figured it out. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Comcast yesterday trying to solve the issue. He was able to manually reboot everything that Comcast supposedly does remotely and figured it out in 20 minutes. They kept telling me my computer was broken. Um no...its up and running...it's definitely not broken. But they wouldn't believe me :confused3

Updates coming soon!!!!

Look at my ticker!!! My ADR date is almost here!!!! Do you think my DD's school MIGHT give me a hint about the school schedule???? I ended up caving in this morning and emailing the vice principal and let them know that Aisling would be missing a few days of school in October but we are trying to "minimize her time out of class" so I need to know if the Friday before her bday is going to be a half day. Aisling's cousin already attends the school and the past 2 years, that Friday has a been a half day. Which means, if it is, we are changing our flights and flying out earlier so we can actually do something on Friday. She is missing Monday and Tuesday so I don't want to pull her out Friday. But if there is a half day :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Doesn't that silly school know that I NEED this info ASAP??? :rotfl:

So as we can see Friday is still up in the air. But if we get there early enough- I'd like to do Chef Mickey's. Anyone know what time CMs serves dinner until?

Sat is Aisling's bday so we must do MK. I'm planning to make her an ADR at BBB. Question is...do we do breakfast beforehand? In theory, if we can't do dinner on Friday at CMs- that would be the best logical choice for a bday breakfast. But since this is such a short trip, I don't know that I want to spend all that valuable park time eating/doing getting BBB-ed. So now I'm thinking breakfast type snack in bedroom, early BBB ressie, rope-drop at the Castle, hitting up Fantasyland, then going to the Plaza for a real breakfast. THOUGHTS???? Does anyone know if you can get your bday card before park opening? I'm assuming that you can since you need tickets to get into the park if you have a morning ADR.

Sunday the plan is to do AK in the morning, lunch at Yak & Yeti, back to the room to rest/swim, get ready for MNSSHP, MK for MNSSHP.

Monday we plan to do Epcot all day. Food and Wine will be going on. Do you think I should aim for lunch at Le Cellier and then dinner somewhere else in Epcot or just try to get dinner at Le Cellier? I'm having issues with Food and Wine. I think the "food" is more like little bites of stuff so not really a meal. Anyone know for sure?

Tuesday was the day I was having an issue with but i think I'm going to take everyone's suggestions and pretend that TSM is down for service if Aisling asks and go to MK. We fly out at 7pm which means ME will be picking us up around 4pm. Plenty of time to do whatever "repeats" she wants to do at MK.

Schools in my area have their schedules done a year in advance, so it should be really easy to tell you if that day is a 1/2 day or not.

Chef Mickey's serves until 9pm. I don't recomend an 9pm if you really want to eat. The 2 times I've tried 9pm the food wasn't good, but the character interaction great.

You can get the birthday card before park opens. As long as the guest services is open at the parks (I think they open at 7am)

the food at F&W is little bites from 4-7 a pop. It's crazy to plan a meal on that. So much of it is exotic food that if you're a picky eat at all, you'll have a tough time finding food and the lines get long at certain times of day.

If you don't mind starting your day early you could try for a 7:30am Chef Mickey's Breakfast and then a 9am BBB. Since you plan on going back to MK later in the trip you can get the rides that you miss.

Welcome :welcome:

Thanks for all the advice!

9pm at CM's??? Ya, I wouldn't be going that late. I was thinking of making a7:30ish ADR just in case our flight gets delayed. There is a MNSSHP that night so no WISHES or anything afterward.

Ok so definitely not planning to eat "lunch" at Food and Wine. Le Cellier it is...now...what for dinner? DD is SOOO picky. We could always walk to the Boardwalk and come back for Illuminations....hmmm. :rolleyes1

Timing everything for this trip is really making this more challenging! Our last trip was 9 days...way easier to get everything in!!! Plus, DD has always been a child who goes to bed very late and then sleeps in late. We've never made it to rope drop as a family! BUT now that she's in camp, she's kinda operating under normal kid schedule bed by 8pm/up at 6:30am. Don't know what she might want to do for vacation! Certainly can't ask her ;) I'm going to guess that she is going to be well used to waking up early after a summer of camp and the beginning of the school year. Maybe we could do a breakfast at 7:30???

She's baaaccckkk!

Your school should know the schedule already for October (call/e-mail the secretaries - they usually know more) and should be able to tell you but I say pull her out of school Friday even if it's not a half day. It would only be three total days out of school and it's kindergarten - how much could she miss? Plus, she seems like a smart girl so she probably already knows what they will still be going over in October. We pulled Jordan out of kindergarten for a week last year with no issues.

As for schedule, after a summer of camp and two months of school, I agree with you that Aisling will probably be on the get up early go to bed early schedule for good so I would plan for that.

BBB and meals - that's a tough one. We have had long experiences at BBB and short ones. The early appts do seem to move pretty quick especially the ones right at 8am or so. It also depends on the FGIT and how good/experienced they are. I would say do the BBB and try for a character meal Friday night. We often do a snack in the room/at the bus stop for breakfast and then a late real breakfast/lunch at a character meal/restaurant and that plan has worked well for us.

Le Cellier for lunch sounds great! We loved our lunch there. I would say do that for lunch and wing it for dinner. I know we were very full after our lunch there so you may be happy with snacks from food and wine for dinner. You could always make a dinner ADR and then cancel it if you change your mind or there are good CS restaurants at Epcot if you don't want to do the Food and Wine thing or ADR thing.

Okay...after all that rambling I think I was no help at all! :rotfl: Good luck with the planning!

I would do this...and trust me, my DH is voting for this option too...but Aisling is going to one of THOSE schools. You know the ones. The ones that apparently don't trust your judgement as a parent. The ones who will FAIL a 5 year old rather than let you take a family vacation. Yup, that kinda school. Frankly, for the almost $8000/yr I'm spending to send her to the school and their afterschool program, you'd think that we could decide to pull her out of school for a week if we wanted. I haven't gotten the actual paperwork but I think she can't miss more than 5 days. If I pull her out in October for 3 days, that only leaves 2. :confused3:confused3:confused3

You know two weeks ago, I had a plan...now that it's closer to my ADRs, I want to CHANGE the whole plan :headache:

And now that I'm burying myself out of boxes...I have sewing to do!!!!

I still have to come up with something wonderful for Epcot and AK. I have to make a traveling day outfit but I think I'm stealing an idea from a fellow Disboutiquer (she gave permission...don't worry!), I have to make something for Crystal Palace (planning to do lunch there our last day) AND I have to make Snow White's rag dress for pre-BBB!

Luckily my sewing partner in crime Stacy is making Aisling's MNSSHP outfit and her BBB Snow White outfit. I'm hoping that her Cindy outfit from last year will fit again for 1900 PF. I need to find something for her to wear it to so I can try it on! Got to be as sneaky as possible
