CA-PLATT!

This has NEVER happened in my entire life. I was on the phone with a friend, and I heard a crash, came up the stairs to see the tree flat out on the floor. DS5 was in a chair across the room, and the cat was downstairs with me, so they were not the culprits.

Those darn Disney ornaments! LOL. The kids put them all on the front, and I was going to rearrange them when they got off to school. I guess I waited too long. The one and only ornament that broke was a nice Disney one. Figures!

MIne fell over this year too. I have a 1/2 tree or corner tree if you will. It is flat on one side. Guess I hung too many of the heavy ornaments on the front... sigh. middle of the night on the third night it was up. weird. but I heard it go. Only one ornament broke but it was a special one (isn't it always).....

I have it weighed down now.

Mine fell over on me this morning. I'm so glad we didn't decorate it yet. Just the lights are on it. The hubby will tie it to the wall tonight.

DH and I use to joke that it’s a requirement for a tree to fall at least 3 times each year or ales its not Christmas. We went through so many tree stands and so many ornaments that we started dreading putting the tree up until DS cam up with solutions. TIE THE SUCKER DOWN. So we did just that we placed two hocks behind the tree and tied the tree with some ice fishing line. We been doing this every year since and the tree has not fell down since

our tree has fallen every year for the past few years. Last year we started tying it too. I've lost most of my good ornaments and have alot of the plain colored ones now.

:teeth: This was a first for me. I was so upset, because of course, I am my own worst critic, and it took me hours to get the lights and the garland so that i didn't think it looked messy last night, then...it goes over, and everything was messed up. I don't think I'll be able to get it looking like it did last night, without un-decorating it. Oh well, I patched it up as best I could. The kids like it, that is all that matter, they see the beauty in the tree!

Ours fell last year at 3am, set off the house alarm, scared the heck out of us. I will tie it down so this will never happen again. Yikes!!

That is so true, that's all that really truly matters. :grouphug:

Our living room has 16' ceilings and DH likes to put up a 14' real tree...scares me to death. It has fallen several times over the years...usually just after DH says "This tree isn't going anywhere." Now we have permanent bolts in the wall to tie the tree to. (BTW, for the sake of our marriage, we've agreed to only do the big tree every other year.)

Mine crashed a couple of years ago at 1am, it sounded like a car wreck. Scared us to death. It was such a mess with broken glass and water.
