TUE 4/4 OUR DAY OF CHESSIENESS!!!!!!!!
Do we as parents lose all sense of nutrition and hygiene when on vacation, or is it just me?

I lose the nutational battle too on vacation.

We even have a tradition of ice cream for dinner once a trip. I mean with a hot fudge sundae you have your dairy, nuts are protein it is practically half way to a real meal :teeth: .

Lest you all start to call social services on me I will confess that we always end up eating a little something better later on in the night

I've been waiting for the continueation of your trip report. I can't believe that Bubba made you go back to work.(doesn't he know that you have people hanging on by pins and needles needing to get their trip report updates? LOL) Maybe I should UPS you an extra large box of wine just for the great entertainment that you have provided me at night while I'm alone because my Bubba (which we call Billy Bob) works nights. Now he's working 12 hour shifts again so we can go back to WDW in Sept. (gotta love that free dining offer) especially since we just got back from WDW on 4/15/06. Just wanted to let you know that I really do enjoy reports even though I've told you that before. Keep up the great work.

Thanks again for some wonderful reading!
Just for the record, I'm a non-smoking, alcohol drinking, staunch democrat, onsite stayer, ADR maker, and junk food devotee!
Great, great report! :rotfl2:
Thanks. :thanks: :worship:

Can I use your TR to cut and paste for my own TR? Mine wouldn't come out nearly as good/funny/creative as yours is! :earboy2:

Can't wait for the next chapter in your story!! :thumbsup2

I promise, promise, promise I will have day 7 up tomorow. I will write my brains out...neglecting food shopping, cleaning and preparing for PP's communion and going away this weekend!

I would do the rest tonight, but PP has CCD and homework.....You people know I have anxiety and all this pressure to finish up is making me nervous! :guilty:

In all honesty, the trip is coming to an end soon, and by writing this, it is keeping the "magic" alive. I suppose I am attempting to pro-long the "magic" as long as possible....much to your chagrin!!!

Thank you all once again for the kind words and encouragement!

DAY 7 WED. 4/5 or DOES RnR GO UPSIDE DOWN MOM??????

I need to preface this day with a side note: My trip is labeled “ten days”….and I’m only on day 7. While we were away for ten days, I didn’t count the day we arrived as day one(I do not officially start counting until we go into a real park…not DQ) and I didn’t count the last day….because, we wont be doing a park on that day….however, our arrival home will get a segment.....it is just too entertaining to leave out! So today begins day 7…although if you are keeping track, it is really day 8!!!! Got all that???

I woke early this morning, because I happened to fall asleep with Wendy’s in one hand and a big glass of box o’ wine in the other, extremely early! I was excited to be going to MGM…but I also had that “We only have two more days left” dread. Why do we start reflecting on when our vacation will be over, instead of living in the moment?

The feeling passed quickly, and we had things to do! Lights on, coffee perking, door slamming and crazy babble followed this fleeting thought. All three of us were finally getting accustomed to rising and moving this early, so this morning was a bit easier. Although, PP still managed to give me a few gray hairs with her dressing under the covers performance (Who am I kidding…..I am 29…I don’t have gray hair)

We were off for a fun filled day at MGM. But first we had to stop at our breakfast mecca known as GC! I, of course inhaled the spinach quiche and PP wanted fruit and a bagel and cereal. What???? A healthy breakfast…maybe there is hope for her after all!

I had to use the restroom…but decided I could hold it….who needed that humiliation again?

We arrived at MGM quite early….I told you we were getting good at this early morning thing…and it only took 8 days!!! We pulled in the parking lot and were directed around and around….almost as if going in circles…until we wound up in the farthest lot from the gate…and we were probably one of the first 1,000 cars in the lot. Where are they taking us we thought? I don’t remember exactly where we parked(I forgot to get PP/Rain Man to commit it to memory), I just know it was at the very, very, very end of this particular lot and a very, very long walk to the tram.

Bubba was angry….and mumbling words of anger to the nice CMs. There was another man who parked next to us, mumbling the same words of disgust.

Bubba: “You get here early so you don’t have to park far away”

Random Angry Man: “Yeah…how ‘bout it….this is ridiculous”

Bubba: “This is crazy, why did we have to park so far away?”

The two exchanged a few more words, loud enough for the CMs to hear them….but not actually to them…Passive aggressive at its best!

I shot Bubba the “Please shut up and let it go” look and we took the trek to catch a tram. Oh look Bubba, there is a tram waiting for us….how nice. We get exactly two steps from the tram and it takes off….like a cruel joke. What is going on with MGM this morning? Maybe they are just having some fun…at the “guests who went into debt for this vacation” expense.

We finally jump on a tram and are on our way to the front of MGM. We were still very early, in spite of the parking hoopla, and had to wait about 15 minutes before they let us in.

Our plan was for PP and I to go on ToT again(Bubba would like to sit this one out) and for Bubba to get FPs for RnR. I used my extreme DIS knowledge again and told Bubba to get on the left side of the street and PP and I walked down the right side. See how good I am?

We arrived at ToT and waited about 10 minutes. PP thought it was much better than the other night and had a blast. I also enjoy ToT…no matter how many times you go on, it is always exciting and entertaining. If only Bubba agreed.

We were to meet Bubba in front of One Man’s Dream. He had gone to Sounds Dangerous while we were on ToT…we didn’t mind because it wasn’t something we were too interested in. He was chilling on a bench in front of OMD and we found him with ease. The park seemed very empty this morning….or maybe they’re all on ToT and RnR. Either way, this part of MGM was empty.

We headed into OMD, because I was interested…PP and Bubba raced through…getting themselves very confused as to the order of events. I enjoyed it immensely, and I think PP and Bubba did as well. I know PP loved looking at the models and displays. We skipped the movie. There is only so much I need to know about Walt!

Remember we had done a lot here the other night, so we were taking our time today and not rushing around….I have to say, it was a nice morning.

We decided on Little Mermaid, because the show was starting in 10 minutes and PP loves the Little Mermaid. Here is where we encountered our very first “I will not move all the way down the row, and I will video tape it if I want” family. I’m surprised actually, that it took this long to experience this.

They were in the row behind us, and plopped themselves in the middle of the row(A family of 5….mom, dad and three kids…great example huh?) We were in front of them, because we actually wound up in the middle….by following the rules….imagine that! A CM came over the speaker two or three times, asking politely for everyone to look to their left, and if there were empty seats, to please move down. No luck…..Then a CM came behind them to ask them to move down…still no luck.

If it weren’t for the Steelers hat, I would have had to think they didn’t speak English…I have some advice….When you are trying to pretend you don’t understand….do not wear a STEELERS HAT!!!! We all know you are from Pa….or you are incredibly huge bandwagon fans…either way, you speak English and you need to move down. The CMs requests went unanswered. They stayed right where they were and other guests entering the theater had to climb over the row behind them in order to get in their seats.

Bubba was amazed….but I knew this type of thing was typical. I was more embarrassed that they could possibly be from Pa and giving our state a bad name. I wanted to shout to the closest CM….”Hey, look at us…we are from Pa. and we follow the rules…please don’t judge Pa. folks based on this idiot” But I refrained. Maybe if they were from NJ I would have stuck up for “MY STATE”…but we all know people from NJ never follow directions….or traffic rules!

The naughty man began filming with his video camera, exactly two seconds after they made the “No flashes or video taping” announcement. Nice….just the icing on the cake if you ask me.

I have to say, at the beginning of this show, I was a bit amazed that I was watching a “Disney” show. It seemed cheesy… and our cheesy day was yesterday. It did get better and PP really liked it. We exited the theater with “The naughty family” with Bubba mumbling some more passive aggressive “I can’t believe some people” words and we kept our fingers crossed that we never ran into them again.

We thought about doing Narnia, but PP insisted she had seen the making of it on the Disney channel and wasn’t interested. No problem PP…whatever you want. (Here is another example of why an only child makes sense….with more than one….you would have to compromise on certain attractions…instead we are teaching PP that it is her way all the time….Really, why aren’t we getting awards for our child rearing, nutrition and hygiene?)

PP wants an ice pop and Itsanotherkadoozie it is. I decide I want a chocolate covered banana. Man, I wish I had found these things earlier in the week. YUMMO!!! PP scoffed at my banana and deemed it “weird” But had to have a bite nonetheless.

We sat on some benches by WWTBAM and Bubba was bursting at the seams waiting to get in. The first show was in 30 minutes…but insisted we hurry up. They were letting people in….why couldn’t we eat our treats faster???? Patience is not one of Bubba’s virtues….If Bubba would have known, they were simply letting people in the pre-show area to watch rerun episodes of Millionaire he probably would have allowed us to enjoy our treats…instead of making us inhale them. Oh well…that banana was still good, even if I did eat it in one bite!

As we were walking into WWTBAM PP spots JoJo and her circus friends…she did a little leap into my arms(a bit of an exaggeration, as PP is a tall 8 yo and I’m a short 29 yo) , and I assured her they would not come near her. Honestly, I do not have a fear of clowns or characters…but that clown freaked me out a bit. Her head was just HUGE.

We watched a bit of the pre-show. Hey Bubba, aren’t you glad you made us inhale those ice pops in order to shout out all the wrong answers during re-runs????

We finally got into the theater. It is extremely cool how they make it look like the real TV set. We sat in front of some very rowdy teenagers….they were fun…but I think they had done this a few million times because they seemed to know the host personally.

I of course knew the secret to answering the fastest finger questions quickly….I decided to inform Bubba and PP to start pushing the letters before the question was done and they were in awe of my incredible knowledge. No luck getting into the hot seat, but we sure did have fun watching.

The first woman picked was a British lady who struggled with some “American” phrases. She lost on the question “Catch as Catch _____?” In my book it was karma’s revenge on everyone foreign in WDW for pounding balls at Me and PP’s head in our pool…Or maybe that was just a sign from Walt that next time we should stay on property. In any event…The nice British lady only won a few pins due to her lack of knowledge in the Americanisms department.

The next contestant was a man in his 40s who was just made to be on TV. He fared better than his English predecessor and won a hat, a tshirt and a bunch of pins.

Ok…I know that wasn’t much for today…but I really have to get some food in this house, because PP and Bubba cannot survive on ice cream and pizza. I could…but for some reason they want real food. I will be back later to finish up our day at MGM.

I Just have a quick question
We (me, DH, DS's 8 & 13) have never seen the Little Mermaid show before (just assumed it would be too girlish) do you think it would be worth us giving it a try? Thanks, Melissa

PS- I understand exactly what you mean about the PA people giving you a bad name. We are latino and my husband is this pretty dark skinned, 6ft. tall, football player looking guy. It drives him crazy when we see other latinos behaving badly or doing those stupid little sterio-typical things ( I'm sure you can think of a few). He is always saying people are going to think we are all like that!

I think if you could walk right in and see it, then it would be worth it. It is a short show, so you wouldn't be taking too much time out of your day. However, it is mostly signing(Ariel), so in my opinion it is "girlish". I also happen to think it is geared more for the 3-7 age bracket, so in addition to being girlish it may be a little too "young" for them. PP enjoyed it so much though, because she got to see Ariel and she was still within her 50 foot required distance of her! :)

We just returned from our third Disney vacation. I was finally going to do a trip report, but I could never top yours. It is very entertaining.

We are Narnia freaks...but were quite disappointed in the show at MGM. PP made a good choice.

Looking forward to the next installment.

I just have to say that your reports have been the highlight of my last two days!! Yes, it took me that long to read everything because I read them at work. I will probably lose my job because I spent the entire morning going through your reports instead of working, but I will go out saying IT WAS WORTH IT.

We are leaving for our first WDW vacation at the end of this month (myself, DH 40 and DD 6) and I sure hope we have half as much fun as you seemed to have. Thanks also for reminding me that my 6yr old is the reason we are taking this trip. We tend to get so caught up in the planning to make it so magical, but forget what is important. I promise, the minute I get a little stressed on our vacation, I will step back and think of you and your crazy time!! Thank you!

Can't wait to read the ending . . .

The REST OF DAY 7 –4/5 or WILL PP RIDE RnR????

When I last left off we were in WWTBAM for the first time, enjoying it immensely. As we exited we had no choice but to take PP to “the big hat giftshop”. She had seen it the other night when we were here, and she has been bugging us all morning, so we just HAD to take her. While PP and I looked around, Bubba ran over to get FPs for Indiana Jones.

I always thought the replica of Hollywood’s Chinese Theater was supposed to be the focal point of MGM…What’s up with this hat? Don’t get me wrong…I love Fantasia, as does PP…but it is almost as if the Disney folks were in a meeting and it went something like this:

Stuffed Suit #1: “Well, it seems we have an oversized hat on the agenda today”

Stuffed Suit #2: “Let us begin by using this oversized hat to generate the most amount of revenue possible”

Stuffed Suit #3: “Shouldn’t we find a proper location for this oversized hat first?”

Stuffed Suit #1: “No, no…we must first find a way to make a profit”

Stuffed Suit #2: “Could we make it an attraction? We could turn it into a movie”

Stuffed Suit #1: “But what type of movie would we put in it? It doesn’t relate to any Disney movie that I know of”

Stuffed Suit #3: “Wouldn’t it be difficult to fit people in a cone shaped building?”

Stuffed Suit #2: “Forget the movie, this oversized hat would make no sense with a film in it”

Stuffed Suit #1: “I know….lets use it as a lure to sell things”

Stuffed Suit #3: “Hmmm…we’ve never tried that before”

Stuffed Suit #2: “But what would we sell?”

Stuffed Suit #1: “Anything with a 75% mark up on it”

Stuffed Suit#3: “But WHERE are we going to put said hat?”

Stuffed Suit #2: “Anywhere, really”

Stuffed Suit #1: “Yes, our guests will buy anything from under an oversized hat”

Stuffed Suit #3: “Ok, lets drop it in MGM and see how that works”

And so the story goes….So here we were under the big hat. PP had fun trading pins with some CMs and she also got a pressed penny book. Bubba was back from his FP expedition, and PP knew this was a good time to hit ‘em up for some more souvenirs that didn’t have to come out of her $190 stash. Bubba loves the idea of the pressed pennies and PP knew she could scam him into buying the book. PP is one smart kid.

PP also purchased one pin with her money, and Bubba also bought her one. I think it was here that he bought her a pin that said “My first trip to WDW”. Awww…how cute….PP wasn’t into cute….she was into “Wow, another pin that didn’t come out of my stash”

I think everyone should sit down for what I am about to report! We had ADRs for lunch at Mama Melrose’s!!!!!!! AND WE WENT!!!! Our ADRs were for 12:30, and it was only about 11:45, but we were hungry. So off we went from the big hat, in search of MM.

We had some time to kill…so we explored the Muppets gift shop. I think it is the Muppets gift shop…the one with the big Kermits outside. I bought a few magnets…and PP bought a princess wand pen. Don’t ask me where that pen is now…I only know that because I checked the receipts. It was four dollars…and I’m sure it came out of PP’s stash. Sorry PP….Bubba does not buy princess pens…Maybe a princess pin…but not a pen.

I snapped a few pics of PP standing with Kermit and off to lunch we went.

I really wish I could remember our servers name. We’ll call him Vinny. Vinny was great. Quintessential greasy Italian…but in a good way. Extremely attentive, funny and helpful. I knew I wanted a flatbread, just not which one I wanted. Vinny recommended one with chicken…..and he was right on….it was delicious.

But first I had to have a bellini….PP wanted soup to go with her meal. Minestrone to be exact and she ate every last bite. Our meals came out, and it was time for another bellini…actually I think I got another bellini before our food even came out…because I remember Vinny being concerned that there was a hole in the glass. Nope, no hole…just a thirsty Mom with a drinking problem….on vacation!

Bubba had tuna…which was good and PP only wanted macaroni with her soup. I think I enjoyed the meal the most…maybe because we were finally eating on property…or maybe it was the bellinis. Unfortunately we had to make a mad dash out of there in order to catch the next Indiana Jones. I really wanted to say Arrivederci to Vinny…but alas, trucks blowing up were more important to Bubba.

A little side note: Bubba did not even wince at the cost of lunch!!!! Maybe there was hope for him after all!!!!

We had our FPs in hand and our running shoes on….Ok, well Bubba had his running shoes on…..I just had two delicious drinks and PP apparently does not run anywhere in WDW. We arrive at the entrance to IJ huffin and puffin….But they were done letting FPS in. What exactly is the point of FP if they cut you off 15 minutes before the show? Oh well, the nice CM told us we could use them for the next show.

What would we do in the mean time? It was unanimous….WWTBAM. When the Bennett’s find something they all LOVE, they become a bit obsessive. Off to WWTBAM. We caught it at exactly the right time and were able to walk right in and grab seats.

Apparently the CMs here take turns…because the host from this morning was now the stage manager and vice versa. I can’t believe there is something I didn’t know.

The first fastest finger question was to put Heisman award winners in order. I had some idea….but really just pushed the letters as fast as I could. Bubba was looking smug, because being the sport nut he is, for sure would get them correct.

The results come up and look…it’s seat 109 in 8th place. What??? That’s me. Of course, I made a huge deal about it…and the man next to Bubba made a little joke about his wife getting them right….and quickly. Good times for me and PP…poking a little fun at Bubba…with the help of a stranger.

When the 1st place winner walked down to the hot seat…all of the men in the studio were amazed. A 13 year old GIRL! She was quite personable and did really well. The most amusing part was when she phones a complete stranger and the phone rang…and rang…and rang. They had to call back to finally get someone to answer. I have a feeling the CM manning the “phone” was off flirting with a guest instead of doing her job. Good job Maria….I hope you still have your job.

The next contestant was a man….who was all alone. I know there are a ton of people that do solo trips…but I still felt so bad for him. He seemed lonely. But he was funny…and a Red Sox fan….so, me being a Yankee hater, loved him! Bubba is a Mets fan, and I am a Phillies fan…but living in the Pocono’s is like living in Yankee Stadium…and quite frankly…they are the annoying “Our team is so great” fans. Similar to me during football season in regards to the Eagles. However, they are much more annoying. But I digress.

The lonely man did fairly well and good times were had by all!!!! It was time to find a smoking area before heading over to IJ. MGM doesn’t have the same anti-smoking stance as the other parks, and I found one with ease. It was here, that I decided, with the help of a nice woman….that all the smoking areas should be next to the bathrooms. This would solve so many problems. First, you can always find a bathroom….which means I could stop hurdling potted plants. Second, generally when making a smoke break, you decide to make all your breaks all at once and use the facilities…and third, when traveling with non-smokers, this gives them the opportunity to “go” and still be close by. Really, why don’t I work for Disney???

It was time for IJ and we walked over. We got right in with our FPs and found seats, off to the left, fairly close to the “stage”.

PP loved this show…and I had forgotten the “twist”. Bubba seemed to think it was different than the last time he saw it….I think it was exactly the same….lets just chalk it up to old age.

During the show a man cam and sat on the steps next to our aisle. A nice CM came over and politely told him he had to move. The man gave her a blank stare. She asked him to move again. Nothing. He wasn’t wearing a Pittsburg hat, so it was difficult to tell if he didn’t speak English, or was just plain dumb.

After many attempts to get the man to move, he finally answered. This was his response:

“Why?” (With an English accent…although, I’m sure the words “Please move” mean the same thing in England as they do here)

The CM replied: “It is a safety hazard”

To which the man responded with yet another blank stare. He finally moved after much ado…and I could go back to regular scheduled programming.

After the show we decided to use our FPs for RnR. On the way over PP began having anxiety.

PP: “Can I look at it first Mom?”

Me: “Of course” (knowing full well it was inside)

PP: “Does it go upside down?”

Me: “Nope”

PP: “Are you sure? Have you been on it?”

Me: “No, but I looked at it on the computer”

PP: “Ok….but I want to look at it first”

Does this constitute child abuse???? If so, please do not call the authorities…we’ll just keep it our little secret.

We arrive at RnR..and oh no…it is inside. Sorry PP, you can’t look at it. But don’t worry, it’s fun…and I promise it doesn’t go upside down.

At this point Bubba was getting concerned as well. He began reading the signs about looping, speed and other heart stopping things this coaster would do. I gave him the “Say anything about it going upside down and I will kill you” look. He kept his mouth shut…but I had tricked him as well…he doesn’t like upside down coasters…and he of course believed everything I had told PP. Why would I lie to a nervous 8 year old?

We hopped in our limo, and I started to get nervous. It was karma coming to get me. I had seen the previous ride take off at a heart stopping speed…and the anticipation was enough to kill me. We finally took off at about 100 miles an hour, into our first loop! After I caught my breath, I had the delight of hearing PP giggling. She likes it…she likes it.

As we were walking off PP was squealing in delight. Bubba was still trying to catch his breath. PP asked me why I didn’t tell her it went upside down, to which I replied “Would you have gone it if you knew” To which she answered “No”. “Did you like it PP?”
“I loved it Mom, I’m glad I went on”.

Sometimes I do know what I’m doing.

We decided to leave after RnR. The park was getting crowded and it was about 4. This was late for us at a park. We may turn into pumpkins.

I’m going away for the weekend, so I’ll be back on Monday to finish up Day 7 and possible day 8. Although, I am dragging this out as long as possible, because what will I do when it is over? Maybe start planning our next trip????

Have a great weekend everyone and thank you again for hanging on this long!!!

I am soooooo sorry. PP has a lot going on at school this week (and being the crazy PTO mom that I am, I decided to spend my time at her school in lieu of finishing my TR)

She also is making her first holy communion (do you think I will go to hell for not capitalizing that?) this sat. and I have a slew of relatives coming, so I have to do the "familyiscomingcleaning" that you know you all do two days before company comes.

I will be back shortly...please accept my apologies.

Love your trip report!!! Please continue when you find the time!! :hourglass

OK. This is worse than waiting for the next Harry Potter book. I need to know the end of the story!! :bounce:
