OK, I posted the counter service review last night, so today will be table service.
DBF (22) and I (23) were on the DDP. Our stay in WDW was from 5/13-5/20. The restaurants I will be reviewing are:
-Tony's Town Square (MK)
-Coral Reef (Epcot)
-Hollywood & Vine (MGM)
-Planet Hollywood (DTD)
-Narcoosee's (GF)
-San Angel Inn (Epcot)
-Le Cellier (Epcot)
Tony's Town Square
We really liked the feel of this place. Our waiter was very good also. There was a sun-dried tomato dip with bread for everyone (YUMMY!). I had a vegetable minestrone soup for appetizer - SO good! DBF had the avocado dip, which he said was good. We both had the strip steak, which was FANTASTIC. For dessert, I had the pumpkin creme brulee (VERY good) and he had the carmelized apple cake, which I tried and it was GREAT! Picture of the strip steak:
Coral Reef
First of all, must give MUCH credit to our waitress, Leslie. She was super. Also, we got seated one table away from the tank, so our view was AMAZING!!!! It was a bit loud, as others have previously commented, but the experience was more than worth it!
Now for the food. We paid OOP for 2 glasses of Reisling (don't remember the name, but it was tasty). DBF had the cream of lobster soup which was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I had the shrimp cocktail which was very good. For entrees. I had the salmon - SO yummy, but needed a bit of salt. He had the crabcakes which he said were probably more delicious than he thought, but he forgot he doesn't really like crabcakes. For dessert, we both had the Chocolate Wave, which was INCREDIBLE! Picture of the chocolate wave:
Hollywood & Vine
For a buffet, it was VERY good! I'm not sure what DBF tried, but I thought the green beans were GREAT, as were the mashed potatoes, seafood pasta, herb encrusted salmon, red wine glazed chicken thighs with blackberries, and the flank steak with red wine sauce. Desserts were not all that impressive, I thought. It's kind of a boisterous place, but I was very satisfied.
Planet Hollywood
We used our resort voucher. I had the pasta pomadore (sp?) with basil, and got a side of green beans (I could possibly be a green beanaholic). DBF had the bacon double cheeseburger. He said his was pretty good, and mine was very good! Our waiter was nice, but I felt he kept trying to sell us things. It was a very LOUD restaurant and I wouldn't recommend trying to dine there without reservations (although we got hungry abotu 1 1/2 hours before our reservation time, and they sat us right away, which was GREAT!)
Narcoosee's
After being about 15 minutes late due to our longest Disney Transportation waits of the whole trip, the staff was still VERY friendly and helpful to us. The restaurant is VERY nice inside, and though it may not be very quiet, it's not loud either. The host sat me facing the lagoon, so I had a nice view the whole time. The waitress said anything non-alcoholic was included as a beverage, so I got a strawberry smoothie (my first thing other than lemonade all week - DBF has Coke at every meal). I had the calamari with pepperoncini dressing (very spicy, but great!) and I am sorry to say I'm not sure what he had. For entrees, we both had the surf and turf. I was more impressed with the filet, he more with the lobster. It was served with some sort of potato that neither of us was too fond of. For dessert, I had the tropical sorbet with seasonal berries - DELICIOUS!!!!!! He had the Expedition Everest dessert, which looks very cool, and apparently tasted very good. I also had hot tea which was supposed to be OOP, but our waitress made it free. I tipped her an extra few bucks.
Additionally, we finished our meal around 9:30 and waited on the deck for the Wishes fireworks. We'd already seen it earlier in the week, but wanted a different view. They play the music on the deck so you don't miss the fantistic "choreography" of the show. It was a GREAT experience. The only bad part was getting stuck in the mass chaos at the MK to get on our bus back to POR.
San Angel Inn
Our only lunch TS meal. I had the ceviche (it was ok) and he had the sopa azteca, which I believe he enjoyed. For entrees, we both had the carne asada tampiquena (comes with a chicken enchilada, refried black beans, and corn) which was VERY good!!! Desserts were interesting. I had a rice pudding with cinnamon and raisins, which was very tasty but almost too sweet. He had some sort of flan, which he loved. San Angel is a very dark restaurant and the tables are very close together. I woudld say everyone should try it at least once for the experience, but I'm not sure we will eat there again.
Le Cellier Steakhouse
Ahhh, a VERy nice place, GREAT ambience. The service is friendly and educational. OUr hostess explained that the restaurant is organized in provinces, and was more than willing to talk to us when we asked about where she was from. Out waitress was also excellent, though she talekd a bit fast. She explained to us the significance of the three breads (forgot why pretzel break is special, sourdough because of the Yukon region, and the whole grain is because over 50% of the world's grains grown in 3 provinces in Canada) which made it all the more special. I liked the pretzel bread the best.
Ok, onto the food. Appetizers: I had the beef with barley soup, which was VERY good! He had the cheddar cheese soup, which he found to be very good as well. For entrees, I had the maple BBQ glased 7oz. filet. Since i am lactose intolerant, they subsituted roasted potatoes for the cream cheese mashed potatoes. It was all excellent! DBF had the mushroom filet, which he said was VERY good, but only if you really like mushrooms (which he does). For dessert, he had the strawberry and balsamic ice cream with wamr vanilla sauce, which he loved, and I had the Happiest Celebration on Earth Chocolate Whiskey Cake, which was GREAT!!!!! Also, Le Cellier also allowed ANY non-alcoholic beverage to be included with the DDP, so I had a mixed berry daquiri, which was also very good.
So, where would we go back? Everywhere but Planet Hollywood and San Angel Inn. Hope this helps some of you.
