I wanted to post our trip report of our visit to Universal 12/14 to 12/20 as I so much enjoyed and appreciated all the info. I read on the boards prior to our trip. It was our first trip to Universal so everything was new to us. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Our Family:
DH-John (mid 30's-never gets excited about a trip till he gets there)
Myself-Tammy :) (mid 30's-bores my husband due to my incessant talking
about the trip-probably the reason he doesn't get
excited  )
DS-Evan age 6-easy going, loves star wars and his nintendo.
DS-Carson age 2-loves doing things only his way :teeth: loves trains.

Day 1-Arrival

We flew out of Nashville via Soutwest on 12/14 on a 7:55pm flight. I had to get the late flight as I had planned for our oldest DS to go to school the day we left ...however, he got a nasty stomach virus and started vomiting the night before. Just our luck...Then the two year old started vomiting the morning we were to leave. So..we debated whether to cancel our trip...called the school nurse at DS school to see what the course of the virus was..found out the main illness lasted 8 to 12 hours and decided to go ahead and go. The kids didn't feel great but they were over their major stomach problems by the time of our flight. Our flight went smoothy and we were in Orlando at MCO by 11pm. Our driver Mr. Bradley from Sunray Transportation was waiting for us and helped us get our luggage and escorted us to his Chevy Suburban for our trip to RPR. Sunray was wonderful..would highly recommend them. The cost was $92.00 for the round trip. No hidden fees. Just the $92 and his tip. In addition he supplied car seats for our trip at no extra charge. We stopped at an Albertsons on the way to pick up some breakfast stuff etc. We had 30 minutes to shop and I was in and out in 20 minutes. My DH was impressed as I usually am never in and out of the grocery in 20 minutes. :) We arrived at RPR after midnight. When we pulled up to RPR our luggage was removed by a woman who told us to go on in and she would bring it in after she took care of the car that had pulled in behind us. Both kids were asleep so we carried them in, checked in and the lady at the desk told us to go on up to our room and they would bring our luggage up. Our room was in Tower 3-room 3231. We waited for our luggage as we wanted to get changed so we could go on to bed (almost 1am by now). About 30 minutes later the bellman knocks on our door with our luggage..but its not ours. He says this has to be it..it is the only luggage down there. But it wasn't so my husband goes back downstairs with the luggage guy to look for our luggage. He finds it, still outside on the curb with no one with it. DH wasn't very happy. We are not people to find fault or complain but DH thought they could have done better. It was not the fault of the guy who brought the wrong luggage to our room and he told us the woman who initially took our luggage out of the vehicle is contracted with RPR. He asked us to call and let his supervisor know what happened the next morning.

Our room was very nice-standard room with a view of some trees. It was what we had booked and thats all I expected. We booked through Hotel Kingdom and got a rate of $159.00 which I thought was pretty good. The room was immaculate and everything worked perfectly. The beds were comfortable when we finally got to go to sleep at 2am. We were very tired as I had been up with our DS all night the night before while he was sick. We had arrived and it was a great feeling just to know we could just have fun the next 6 days. :cool1:

Thanks for reading-Day 2 on its way...

Day 2-IOA, Mythos lunch, Margarittaville Dinner.

We were all pretty tired after our late arrival and I knew the kids needed some rest after being sick so we slept till about 9am. Actually 8am for us as Florida is an hour ahead of Tennessee in time zone. We ate breakfast in the room as it was easier with little ones and much cheaper. ;) We got ready with all our gear-cameras, ponchos, diapers etc. etc. The high temp expected for the day was 74. It was nice to push the weather buttun on the in room phone and hear the weather for the day. Helped us to better plan as some days in was 75 and others 64 during the day. We headed to IOA and walked instead of using the water taxi. We never used the water taxi-it was a nice walk and we just wanted to get there so we never waited for the taxi. We used our tickets for the first time-we purchased the $99 tics on Universal web site that gave us each 5 days. Our youngest DS was free due to his age.

It is an awesome feeling to walk into a theme park you have never been to before. Everything looked so neat and inviting. We were ready to ride some rides. :Pinkbounc We started with hulk. Only my DH and I could ride as DS's were both too little. We switched of and it was a great ride. It was my DH's favorite and over the course of our stay he rode it 6 or 7 times. I liked it to but the ride is pretty rough. I kept hitting my head on the seat-my own fault-I just couldn't keep my head still. DH liked the speed and the multiple inversions. Then we headed to Spider Man as Evan our oldest DS was big enough to ride it. I rode with Evan first as DH stayed with our little guy. Evan (who will ride any coaster, and loved Tower of Terror) didn't like it. It scared him and he rode with his head pressed against me most of the ride. I really liked it though. I had hoped Evan would like it as he loves Spider Man but alas it just wasn't for him..at least not yet anyways. DH rode it and liked it to. The 3D visuals are amazing. DH rode Dr. Doom Fearfall and liked it o.k. We decided to head to Seuss Land to let the kids check out an area more for them. The first thing our youngest DS Carson saw was the Carroleuss (sp?) so we let the kids ride it and DH and I rode too. Then we went to if I Ran the Zoo. These interactive playgrounds ended up being the favorite things for our kids. They enjoyed the slide and Evan played tic tac toe with the blue guy. Carson enjoyed just being able to run around. They played here for about an hour and it was time for our lunch at Mythos.

Mythos was very good. The menu had lots of great sounding food. DH and I both got the chicken breast over a rice like pasta (sorry-can't think of the name) with a tomato and mushroom puree on the side. It was good. Oldest DS had a child pizza which was big-way more than he could eat. Yougest DS-who feel asleep before we got our food got chicken and fries. The kids menu/color sheet was a chefs hat when you turned it over and put it together so the kids had fun wearing them. The atmosphere in Mythos was very cool and the service was great. DH's glass of coke kept moving on our table (the table must have not been completely level) due to the condensation on the glass. We had DS Evan believing it was magic at work. ;) Everytime the glass would start to move his eyes would got real big. We enjoyed our meal and had desert too. They brought little glass vial like containers of desserts to your table for you to pick if you wanted it. DH got carrot cake, DS got chocolate mousse and I got Creme Brulee. They were all very good. I had a 15% off coupon to use but forgot to use it.. Oh well.. just another reason to eat there again. :)

After lunch we headed to Deuling Dragons. We had to switch off again due to the kids age/height. I rode Ice and then DH rode Fire. Another of our favorites. Later in the week we rode again each of us in frount row which was amazing. It certainly looks like you are going to hit the opposing car. Evan our oldest loved the Unicorn coaster. He rode 5 times straight switching of with DH and myself. We also did some shopping as Grandma had given the boys some spending money along with some we gave them. Our oldest loves to shop (for toys etc. of course-not clothes ;) and he loved the Dragon/Sword Shop beside Dueling Dragons. He bought 2 play swords, a dragon t-shirt, and some other odds and ends. I had a coupon for 15% off but the guy at the counter told me not to use it and he gave me 20% off. Very nice of him and I sure appreciated him doing it. After our shopping we headed back to Seuss Land to ride the Cat in the Hat ride. Our 2 y/o loved it as did Evan. The ride is perfect for little kids. Then we rode Carrolseuss again as Carson saw it and cried to ride it again. Then we ended up in If I Ran the Zoo again. They were having fun and thats all that mattered. It was fun for us too,to see them having fun. We headed back to Hulk as DH wanted to ride again before we left.

I really liked IOA and everyone had a great time today. It was nice to know we didn't need to hurry as we had 4 more days at the parks. We could take it slow, enjoy things and with FOTL (VERY NICE :teeth: ) we didn't have to wait much over 5 minutes for anything. The park was not crowded at all to start with or at least it didn't seem so to us. We headed back to City Walk and decided to eat at Margarittaville. We sat out on the deck portion. They had live entertainment and the guy was great to listen to. They gave Evan a tambourine to play along with the music. By this time(6pm) our youngest son was getting tired so he and I went for a walk along city walk to check out the sights while we waited on our food. We ate rather light tonight-DH got a salad, I got a salad and some soup -roasted corn with crab meat which was very good and the kids shared a kids spaghetti with meatballs. They really liked it.

They were doing some building construction-saw some dry wall going in etc. to a shop attached to Margarittaville-before we left it was done and looked really nice-it was a shop with Jimmy Buffet/Margarittaville stuff.

We headed back to our room and Evan begged to go to the pool. He had begged all day to get to go to the pool.. :) We thought it was heated so DH agreed to take him on down there at 8pm. They said the pool was great however DH said it wasn't heated. Still had a great time.

Tommorow we head back to IOA and eat breafast with the characters at Confisco Grill. Thanks for reading...

Nice reading so far! I love the shops in the Dueling Dragons/Lost Continent area, lots of unique things they have for sale.

Day 3-IOA, Confisco Grill Character Breakfast

We received our wake up call from Spiderman this morning. We had told Evan our 6y/o that Spiderman was calling to get us up to go eat breakfast with him at Confisco Grill. We got out of the room later than we meant to so we were walking fast to get to Confisco Grill by 9am. We got there in record time and were the only ones there other than two other tables. The first character we saw was Spiderman perched up on a ledge. Very cool :goodvibes . He came over to greet us as soon as we were seated. He did an excellent job and was very patient with our 2y/o who was noticeably weary of Spiderman coming near him. By the end of the meal he was giving Spiderman high fives. :) Evan, our oldest son got a cute pic with he and Spiderman shooting their webs with their hands. Spiderman did a great job. Thing 1 and Thing 2 were there also and got into lots of mischief. They helped us get our food from the buffet and feed Carson (our youngest) his scrambled eggs and some fruit. Thing 2 played tic tac toe with Evan for at least 10 minutes. Thing 1 and 2 also put sugar packets down each others costumes, tried to use my lipstick which had fallen out of the bag when I got the camera out, and did other crazy stuff. We had so much character interaction we didn't eat for 20 minutes. It was great fun and the kids loved the characters. Cat in the Hat came around later too and he was very good with the kids also. The food on the buffet was hot and good. They had pancakes, french toast, waffles, fresh fruit including honeydew, cantaloupe, fresh pineapple with a fruit dip, sausage links, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, muffins, pastries, bacon etc. We were pleased with the food offerings and got some great pics/videos with the characters. Our waitress told us this week was slow but next week would be crazy.

After breakfast we headed to Toon Lagoon as we had not yet visited this area. The area is so colorful and we took time to take some pictures -we took one with the Marmaduke set up where you take your pic then turn it sideways and it looks like Marmaduke is dragging you behind. We also took a pic with the big plate of hambugers. The kids enjoyed Me Ship, The Olive play area although it was windy up at the top part. Our youngest DS sat and watched the swimming shark (shark fin) in the water under the play area. We skipped the River Raft Barges for now and Ripsaw Falls as it was closed while we were there. We headed on over to ride Dueling Dragons again, the Unicorn Coaster, We also rode the water ride with the dinosaurs (can't remember the name ) and we went in to see Poseidon's Fury. We made it in with both kids and saw the preshow but it scared our 6 y/o and I left with the two kids(our youngest was asleep) and let my DH go on through the attraction. When we got out and were waiting for DH Evan decided he would like to go back in and try it again but I told him we had to wait for Dad. I wish he hadn't gotten spooked by the preshow. A lot of times it is scarier to him than the ride would be. I have always told him I will never make him ride/do anything he is scared of so we just leave if he doesn't think he can watch/ride it. Anyways DH said it was a good show with some pretty good special effects. He liked the Vortex of water part? Not sure what it is as I never took the time to go back and see it. Something to do next time. ;) We wanted to watch the Sinbad show but were going to have to wait for 40 minutes or so, so we decided to try to catch the Grinch's live show in the Seuss area. The Seuss area was all decked out in holiday decorations and very colorful. We watched the show and they did a great job, their makeup and cosutmes looked incredible and the Grinch was very grinch-like :teeth: The dog was too cute. I wished we had gotten our pic with the Grinch but Carson was getting tired and was not going to sit with him. I did walk into the shop area where the pictures were taking place and the Grinch was very funny. He would say "hurry up, hurry up, I don't have all day", "What do you think this is" and "Wipe that smile of your face, do you think thats funny?!?!" He was very much in character.

Speaking of characters we saw Sam I Am, the Grinch and Cat in the Hat in Seuss area, Wolverine, Captain America, Spiderman, Merlin and several more who I have forgotten. We got pictures with them all and they all did a great job. When I went to get my camera out of my bag I apologized to Wolverine as it was taking me a moment to fish it out of all the junk in our bag and he saw my camera case which says Walt Disney World on it. He kind of laughed and said no need to apologize for making me wait ma'm, what you need to apologize for is that and he pointed to my camera case. We just laughed. We noticed several people wearing their mouse ears and shirts/sweatshirts with the mouse on them. We have been to Disney several times ourselves and love it and although it doesn't bother me to have other people display WDW stuff at Univeral I personally didn't wear any mouse gear..except for my camera case. ;) I can honestly say I love Disney and Unversal each for their uniqueness and the enjoyment they each offer and wouldn't compare the two. I just want to go to both. :teeth:

We ended up eating lunch at the Oak Tree Tavern (I think this is the name of it) DH got the rib platter with corn, and fries. I got the rotisserie (sp?) chicken with ribs, corn and fries. We got an extra corn and some fries and the kids shared with us. The meal was good-expecially the corn on the cob. After we ate we headed back to marvel hero isalnd and DH rode Hulk (again... :) and the kids and I did some shopping in the spiderman store. They each got a hat, some spinning spiderman light up toy (which they never will play with when we get back home  but they made them happy while in the park) and I got some spiderman shirts and pants for Carson. Everytime we would check out there would be candy strategically placed at the check out counter so we ended up buying m&m's most everytime we bought something. Carson loves them and would attach himself to them at the first sight of them. Rather than have one of those tantrums two year olds (at least ours) can throw I would just buy them. I figured we're on vacation - I can teach him he can't have everything when we get back home. :) Anyways we got some good loot at the shops, met up with dad and headed back to City Walk. At city walk our 6 y/0 announces he is hungry (we just ate 1 hour ago  :) ) almost starving to death...so we buy a hot dog, chips and a drink and he and his brother ate every bite. So much for trying to get them to eat decent food--all they want is a hot dog. :) We head back to our room to relax.

Tommorow we go to Universal Studios, eat at Lombards and RPR Islands Dining Room for Character Buffet Dinner. Thanks for reading. Sorry if it is long and too detailed-I tend to be a detail person and may bore others with all the info. :wave2:

can't wait to read the rest - where did you get the coupons for 15% off?

Hi! We got the coupons with our ticket order from Universal's website. There were several for food-Hard Rock, Lombards, Mythos etc. and some for shopping at IOA and City Walk Universal Store. Also some for the resort restaurants. We used several as every bit helps. The expiration date was 12/31/05 so we could only use them on this trip. Hopefully they will have some more avalable in the future.

Great report! I can't wait to read about your visit to Universal Studios.

Day 4 Saturday
Universal Studios

Today we went to Universal Studios. It rained today so we had to get out the ponchos but didn't mind because we are in Florida. :flower: We started with Shrek then went to Jimmy Neutron. Both were good and we were able to take our 2 year old on both attractions which made it nice for him. He sat in a non motion seat for Jimmy Neutron Nicktoon Blast with Dad. Then we headed to Terminator and my husband went to it. He liked it. We decided to wait on me riding it for now as we were all getting hungry. We went to Lombards. The fish tank is very cool and we were seated beside it. It kept the kids busy looking at the fish for awhile. John and I shared our meals with the kids to cut down on cost and they never seem to eat much due to their excitement. I had the clams, fish and shrimp with fries and slaw and John had Red Snapper Blakened. Both were very good. The fried fish was my favorite. I wanted to get one of those Sundaes they have there but we were too stuffed.

After leaving Lombards we rode Jaws. It had just reopened the day before. I think it would be cool to ride at night. Then we headed to Back to the Future and then Men in Black. Men in Black was fun. Our 7 y/o beat me every time we rode it-I didn't get above 30,000. But I had fun anyways...The FOTL access came in very handy for us today but I felt a little guilty walking past all those people. They checked each person for their room card on this and a few other attrations right before you would que up for your ride vehicle. Next we rode Earthquake which was neat and then we went to ride ET. We enjoyed it -especially Carson our youngest. It is a nice touch when ET says the names of everyone in your vehicle at the end. After ET we went to the playground area as the kids had spotted it and wanted to go run off some steam. Fievels playground was a cute area but the kids loved the ball area of Curious George. The frount facade of Curious George would be very cool when it is hot as tons of water spew down from the roof every so often and water play areas abound. However being December and a liitle cooler today..we didn't get wet. We did go on in and up to the second floor of the ball area and it was great fun. You can shoot balls down to the first floor. On the first floor there are vacumns which let you suck up balls to put in bags to carry back upstairs or suck up to containers up in the air which release the balls every 2 minutes. This was the jackpot for both our kids as the 2 y/o loves to vacumn and the 6 y.o loved shooting the balls with his Dad. The kids cried when we left an hour and 1/2 later but it was almost 6pm (closing) and we had to find somewhere for dinner.

We decided to go back to our room and eat at RPR in their dining room. Dinner was good-a meat lovers paradise as many of the dishes were meat. They also had salad, sushi and a Stir Fry Chef who would make your stir fry with whatever you wanted. We both had the stir fry guy whip us up a creation-it was my favorite part-I had chicken and shrimp with vegetable and rice. John meanwhile ate and ate-nothing like a buffet for him. They had several dishes including lamb, pork and chicken. It was all very good but I missed having other dishes other than meats. The kids ate pizza, chicken strips, fruit etc. off of the children's buffet-nothing spectacular but they liked it o.k. The deserts were good-they had about 6 to choose from. Woody Woodpecker and Curious George made an appearance and we got pictures with them.

We headed back to our room and John ended up not feeling so good-either from eating so much or the virus the kids had earlier in the week caught up with him. Poor guy.

We really liked Universal Studios. It seemed to have much more for the kids to do then IOA. I think it is my favorite of the two but both are wonderful. Thanks for reading. Tommorow we return to US, eat at Finneganns, get an in room sitter for the kids and go out for our 10th anniversary at Tchoup Chop. :)
