Our Short but Sweet, Sizzling HOT Summer Trip to the World! Updated 12/3...Finally!!!

I SO relate to that last day sadness and then experiencing the last day's sadness again, writing about it.:sad1: What a nice trip you had, though. Your souvies are cute, I especially like your necklace. Looking forward to your final thoughts.:)

What a lovely trip you had - even though it was a short one! It's so great you were able to share it with your parents and your brother, wonderful memories for all I'm sure :goodvibes

Great souvenires :thumbsup2 The necklace is very cute and those mugs are not only adorable but a great size too!

Thanks for sharing with us and I look forward to any final thoughts...by the way did your parents find the whole trip exhausting or was the pace OK for them? Curious because you did a lot in 4 days :)

We were down there about the same time. Anytime is a good time for DW though. Thanks for sharing and best of luck on your NEXT trip to the World!

It's over? :sad1:

Nope.

I refuse to accept it, therefore its not.

I need a temper tantrum smilie.

The necklace is really nice and I love that ornament frame. Endings are really hard and I don't blame you for not wanting to say goodbye.... I don't want my TR to end yet either! Poor Nick and Noah trying to pick out that one last souvenier!

Sooooo, are you hopefully planning for a Christmas trip? Say, maybe mid December next year back at the Pop? ;)

Nooo, I hate the endings! I agree with what you said about feeling like you're saying good-bye all over again. This is going to make me sound like such a dork but as I was typing mine I started to get a little misty-eyed just thinking about it. That's how much I hate leaving.

Anyways, I enjoyed reading your report. Sounds like you had a good time. When will the next one start? ;)

Oh yeah, love your souvenirs too.

Oh....I know what you mean!! It's so sad leaving and having to relive it all over again is awful.:sad2: I started getting a little misty-eyed myself.

Glad you enjoyed reading though!:goodvibes Not sure when the next one will start. :confused3 We're still trying to figure it out....but hopefully soon!!!;)

It sounds like your hot day at the Animal Kingdom ended on a good note. I know that you all love the Nemo Show.

I really liked the souvenirs that you bought. John has to buy one of those coffee cups every time he goes. He says they keep his coffee hot...just like he likes it.:thumbsup2

So, now that the trip report is over, do you have any idea when you may be heading back?

I'm so happy that we bought those coffee cups!! It's always nice to start the day with a little bit of Disney.:thumbsup2 Last year we bought some mugs that had 2008 on them. But, they ended up being way too big, these are perfect!!

We are still trying to figure out the next trip. So far though it seems the end of June is looking good. Still waiting on those deals or a pin code or something. Have you had any luck yet?

:sad1::sad1::sad1: Always a sad day when vacations and trip reports end. I totally understand that feeling of your trip ending all over again. Hopefully you'll have another trip to plan soon.

I love those mugs. Too cute:goodvibes

I agree, it's so sad to say good-bye, especially when the vacation is as wonderful as Disney. We're working on another trip....no definite plans yet--hoping it will be soon!!

:yay: It's almost time for you to go back!!!:yay:

I'm SOOOOOOOOOO sad it's over!

CUTE souvies you got for yourself. I can't stand those darn pixie stix things either, BLEH!

You really had a lovely last day. I can completely relate to the stress of needing to go and kids not being able to make up their minds on how to spend their money!

Looking forward to your final thoughts.

Thanks!:goodvibes I'm very happy with what I picked out for souvenirs. We really did have a wonderful day despite the heat.

UGH!! Those darn pixie stix's and the trouble they caused. They just end up spilling, making a mess and the kids seem to get sick of them after a few tastes anyway. I probably should have held tough and refused to buy them but....it was taking him so long to decide and I just wanted it to be over so I could get everything done that I needed to do. I was literally sitting on the benches waiting for DME and tearing the bags apart making sure everything was where it should be.

I'm soooo sad that it's over too!! But on the brighter side, now I can finally keep up with your PTR!! (which I so enjoy reading, BTW:)) Hopefully, I will have my final thoughts posted next week.

Oh it's over :(

Thanks for sharing the trip!!!

Thanks for reading!!!:goodvibes

It was a wonderful trip!! I'm so glad that I got to share it with everyone.:goodvibes I actually just went back and read your TR again the other day because we are thinking about going back the end of June next year (hopefully)and I wanted to get an idea on the weather, crowds etc.

Such wonderful memories!! They are still talking about it and I've heard them say more than once that they would love to go back. They had such a great time!!:thumbsup2

I was just saying above, that the mugs are really a perfect size. We tried the bigger ones last year....and they were huge! You don't realize until you get them home.

We did do alot in 4 days and I really tried to take it slow for them. I was so worried that it was going to be too much for my mom. But she did great and even said that she was fine with the pace we kept because she realized we would have missed out on so much more.

Thanks for reading!!:goodvibes Hoping to have my final thoughts on the trip up very soon!!

We were down there about the same time. Anytime is a good time for DW though. Thanks for sharing and best of luck on your NEXT trip to the World!
Welcome and Thanks for reading!!!:goodvibes I agree, anytime at Disney is good time!!! Yes, it was hot but..I'm so happy that we were able to go back!! We had a wonderful time!!:thumbsup2

Aww...I don't want it to end either!! But, hey now I have more time to enjoy your TR!!:thumbsup2

I know....they had such a hard time deciding what to get and I admit I was a little grumpy myself. I just wasn't ready to leave yet. 4 days went by way too fast.:sad2:

I wish...I wish for a Christmas trip!!!!! But......we have lots of airline credit from our last trip that needs to be used before the middle of August. So, it's looking more and more like we may try June or July this time. We really don't want to take the boys out of school....so we'll see.

Awww...everyone's reports are ending. So sad!

Good for you for conquering EE! I love that ride!!:cool1:

Love the mugs and the necklace...very nice choices. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing your family with us! I enjoyed following along on your trip!

EE is such a great ride!! I'm so happy my brother talked me into riding it!!

Thanks for following along!!!!:goodvibes I've had so much fun writing this TR....I'm very sad that it has to end.:sad2:

I'm hoping to get my final thoughts posted soon.:thumbsup2

Well, it's finally time to wrap this trip report up. It's so hard for me to believe that just a few months ago, I was doing this very same thing. Sadly saying goodbye to a wonderful trip in April and remembering all the fun we'd had. The difference between this TR and that one, was that then I knew in less than month I would be heading back in August, but this time.... we're not quite sure when we will be heading back to our favorite place.:confused3 Which is making it much harder to say goodbye.:sad1:

Final Thoughts

I think I was just as excited about this trip as our very first because I couldn't wait to see my parent's and brother's expressions as they rounded the corner and caught their first glimpse of the castle or heard their laughter as they rode Splash Mountain for the first time or watched them be amazed by Wishes. It was that little bit of magic that I was so eager to share with them.

So.....fast forward to months later. Did they "get it" as I hoped they would? Well, I'm sure you know the answer to that by now. They truly loved the experience and their eyes still light up when they talk about it. We happened to get on the subject the other night and it was so funny....the conversation ended up going from Soarin', as we laughed because my mom ducked to avoid the golf ball and kept swinging her feet to avoid the trees and Lee's amazement with Mickey's Philharmagic. My father being in awe of everything at Magic Kingdom especially Main Street and the castle. They are wonderful memories that I will always cherish and I'm so thankful that we got to experience them together.

Dining Plan, August Heat, and Crowds

We loved Free Dining!! (who wouldn't, right?) It saved us a ton of money and actually without it we probably wouldn't have been able to do the second trip this year. But....ADR's were very hard to get!! or at least for the places and times we wanted. I called 90 days out at 7:00 am and got none of my first choices on either days or times and ended up having to redo our entire itinerary. But...again it's free....so it was worth it.

We were expecting it to be hot in August and boy was it HOT!! However, we were prepared. The misting fans were a lifesaver and taking that rest in the afternoon for a nap or swim was just what we needed. Would we go in August again? Sure...it was a great trip and the fact that we wouldn't have to take the boys out of school is always a huge plus!!

As far as crowds go, we actually found it just as busy at the resort as it was in April. Of course the restaurants were packed but we never had to wait too long to be seated. The one thing we did notice however was how much shorter the wait times for the rides were on this trip. In April we were happy to even see a 30 minute wait time because they were all much, much longer. This trip most were a walk-on which made it much easier touring the park especially when you only had 4 days to do it!!!:thumbsup2

To finish off, I've decided to make a list of all our favorite attractions, experiences, and restaurants that we accomplished on this trip-- (I decided to include some pics to make it more interesting!!;))

DH---Well, he will always say that Test Track and BTMRR are his favorites and this trip was no exception. As he says he could ride BTMRR over and over again and not get tired of it. His one wish is to ride at night....hopefully next time!!:thumbsup2 Favorite Park--Magic Kingdom

ImportedPhotos00228.jpg

Nick---Loved meeting all the characters and getting their autograph. He has a whole new list ready for next time. Like his dad, he loved Test Track and BTMRR. He tells me they get better every time he rides.;)I think most of all, Nick loved showing his grandparent's and uncle all of Disney's hidden treasures and especially being their tour guide for the trip. Favorite Park--Magic Kingdom

Noah--Loved Splash Mountain!! Definitely one of his favorites. Also watching Wishes, seeing the characters, riding Primeval Whirl and BTMRR. Spending that one and one time with his Grammie and Papa in his favorite place made Noah very happy this trip.:) Favorite Park--Magic Kingdom
100_1859.jpg

Me--Hmm...it's really hard to pick favorites but I will try. As you know I tried alot of new rides this trip, a few I wasn't quite sure about in the beginning but they ended up being sooooo much fun. Let's see....beating Lee at Buzz Lightyear!! Seeing the Haunted Mansion, enjoying Splash Mountain, watching Wishes and seeing the castle at night. Riding Soarin', Dinosaur and EE. But, really just spending time with my family in the place I love the best. Favorite park-Magic Kingdom
100_1724.jpg

Mom (Grammie)--She loved Spaceship Earth and Soarin' in Epcot. Celebrating their anniversary at Crystal Palace, and Chef Mickey's. Seeing Epcot at night, even if it was in the rain.Riding BTMRR and Splash Mountain in MK, seeing Main Street USA, and dancing in the street with the boys during Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Street Party. Favorite Park--Epcot
100_1468.jpg

Dad (Papa)--He loved Pop Century. He enjoyed his morning walks around the resort before anyone else woke up especially that day with Nick. He also loved Magic Kingdom. He told me that he liked the other parks but would have been just as happy spending all of our time in MK. He loved it at night especially with the castle all lit up and watching Wishes. Of course his most favorite moment....The Jungle Cruise and the anniversary comment.:rotfl: Favorite park--Magic Kingdom
100_0716.jpg

Lee He thought Soarin' and Test Track were cool in Epcot, and enjoyed the boat ride through Mexico. He's still raving about Crystal Palace, he loved the food!! He finally "got" the magic in Mickey's Philharmagic in MK, which he has declared his very favorite attraction. Although he loved Dinosaur and EE in Animal Kingdom, his favorite park was Epcot

So, there you have it all our favorites! We had a such a wonderful trip and I'm so happy that I got the chance to share it with all of you!! As for any future trips we are still working on it. Wishing and hoping we can figure out a way to return next year but nothing official....yet. Hopefully, after the new year I will be able to start a PTR (my first, so keep a look out:flower3:) In the mean time if anyone happens to be on Facebook...let me know-I'll add you as a friend.:) (It's my new addiction:rotfl:) See you around on the boards or your TR/PTR.:goodvibes

Dreams really did come true!!! Great memories!! Thanks again for reading!!!!!:)

Aw, Angie what a great wrap up. I'm sorry to see your TR come to an end.:sad1: You've got such a sweet family, thanks for sharing them with us. :grouphug:

Awww, it's really over. :sad2: I know what you mean about it being harder to say good-bye when you don't know when you're going back. Lately we've been so spoiled though with DVC and our three trips last year thanks to some free flight vouchers.

Great wrapup. I'm so glad your family enjoyed the trip.

As for facebook feel free to add me...my link's in my signature. :)

Angie,
I'm sad to see your TR come to an end. I know what you mean about not wanting to say goodbye to it. Yours is the last trippie I've been following that I started reading when I was doing my trip report. (I guess that shows that you dragged your report out the longest);) Anyway, it sounds funny but you finishing up makes me feel sad too. I really do hope you get to go back next year! I'll be looking out for your PTR. (PM me when you start it.)

Awesome wrap up and I'm so glad your family "got the Magic". Now you'll have something great to reminisce about over family dinners:goodvibes

It's sooooo hard to say goodbye this time!!! I know eventually we'll be back but not knowing exactly when, is what's getting to me. :( Well..at least now I will finally have time to keep up on your PTR (and top 10 lists--love them) Thanks again for reading!

I'm sad too!!:sad2: But, thanks so much for sticking with me until the end.:goodvibes LOL I know... I did drag it out pretty long, didn't I? Especially for just a 4 day trip. I'll be sure to send you a PM if and when I ever start my PTR. I'm hoping after the new year we will know for sure what's happening. Oh and let me know if you decide to do a TR for your upcoming trip!! It's almost time!!:yay:

I'm so sad it's over!!!!!!!!! I love your final thoughts and hope that you are planning your next trip sooner, than later! What a wonderful trip and I'm so glad they "got" the magic, the memories of this trip will be a gift you can share together for years to come.

Aww....thanks!!!:goodvibes I'm soooo happy that they came with us. They finally understand why we want to keep going back again and again!!!

I'm really hoping we can find a way back next year!! It feels so funny not to be planning a trip right now.:sad2: We're still thinking summer would be best but....waiting on those deals or even a pin code!! UGH!

Thanks for sticking with me all the way through. :)

Great wrap up :thumbsup2 Again, I'm so thrilled for you that your parents and brother had such a good time and "got it"!! :goodvibes

I do hope you can get back for another trip sooner rather than later...its hard not to be planning, I keep trying to come up with ways we can do even a weekend trip - using points to fly, take advantage of the "give a day, get a day", etc. Then DH is the realist and reminds me of the deck we plan to build in the spring, we are going to Ireland in August for my brother's wedding, and so on and so on. I'm not giving up yet though!

Thanks again for sharing your wonderful trip :)

Hey Angie.... I loved following your TR  How wonderful that Grammie and Papa helped create those fabulous memories for you all! :goodvibes

You're right!!!!It's hard not to be planning something right now. We do have some airline credit that needs to be used up so I'm hopeful. But... as much as DH loves Disney, he's been pointing out all the things that need to be updated around the house lately. So...we'll see.

I hope you are able to find a way to go back as well. :thumbsup2

Hey Angie.... I loved following your TR  How wonderful that Grammie and Papa helped create those fabulous memories for you all! :goodvibes

Hi Tracy!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!!:goodvibes You know that I'm loving your TR as well. :thumbsup2 I'm sad it's over but happy I can catch up on all the TR/PTR's I've fallen way behind on.

It was a wonderful trip and I'm so glad I got to relive it all over again. Thanks for sticking with me all the way to the end!!!

Great wrap-up Angie!

I guess I better finish up mine, huh? SO sad....I have no trip planned in the near future and I'm trying to hold on to this one as long as I can.

I'd love to be your Facebook friend....PM me! :goodvibes
