Our September 2011 Pre-Trip Adventure!! (Update 09/29/2011 - Link to TR!)

Nice movie night! Peter Pan was always a favourite of mine. My name would not exist without it! (True story -- J.M. Barrie created the name Wendy for the story.) :)

Cute shopping finds! I love the first shirt!

Hannah really likes Peter Pan, though there's a sequel -Return to Neverland- she liked even more when she was younger.

Love Peter Pan, v cute classic. Tink is such a minx, have you watched her movies? Am waiting to see how she got the way she is in PP as she is totally different in her own movies.

It is a cute and classic movie :) No, I haven't seen any movies of Tink - will have to watch some but may not be able to fit it in until after our trip :( Ooh look forward to finding out why she is that way in PP as well.

Great shopping girl! Love the shoes....what girl doesn't love shoes:lmao:

We were out yesterday looking for a pair of shoes for my aunt when Jasmine spotted a cute little pair of puma's...she decided to buy them for the trip:confused3 Any excuse for another pair of shoes:lmao:

Lol thanks girl! I sure love my shoes! I had to get rid of some when moving out from my mum's place and regret giving away one pair to this day :sad2: So now I keep all of them even if they are worn out! We have some shelves in our storage room and I have dedicated them to my shoes!! :rotfl:

I would have been the same as Jasmine - even when I don't have an excuse I still find one! I have stopped opening emails with the word shoes and sale in them as I know it will only lead to my destruction!! :lmao:

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it! :) Lol I didn't even think of that - of course Peter Pan has to be your top Disney movie then! Thanks for sharing that information - I now know something I didn't before :thumbsup2

Thanks! I love that one too as the colour really suits my skin tone. Plus it will do wonders in the heat!

I'm glad Hannah really likes Peter Pan. Ooh didn't know about the sequel - will have to look into that :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a good week.

I keep panicking at the minute that I won't have everything done in time for our trip :scared1: I keep reading PTRs where people have started packing and am soo behind with mine. I also need to do lots of other things and have them all juggling in my head. So thought it was about time I wrote down what I need to do before our trip.

  • Make hair/nail appointments
  • Exchange money and upload Fairfx card
  • Book holiday insurance - can't believe I haven't done this yet!
  • Make tip envelopes
  • Make room window decorations
  • Make green Mickey head with DIS name for bag
  • Buy toiletries, ponchos and suntan lotion etc
  • PACK, PACK, PACK!
  • Clear out fridge
  • Check plug outlets and locks etc
  • Leave for flight!

I am normally a last minute packer although I know what I'm taking and where everything is. I probably won't be able to do anything until the start of September, with 12 days left to our trip!! :scared1: Oh well, I probably won't be able to sleep through excitement anyway.

Is there anything else I need to do? I forgot to mention online check in but am not sure whether we are going to do this or not. I know there are different views on whether it is worth doing or not. Do you have any views on this?

I have decided not to make any shirts as I will have to buy the appropriate printing paper etc just for a couple of shirts. I have bought quite a few that will hopefully keep me going during our trip.

Right I feel better after writing this update. Thanks for letting me vent - I blame it on the fasting! :rotfl:

Don't panic, LOL!

Yes, I've started packing... but I only have 26 days to go. And I've only packed a little. Mainly the pajamas and tees I've bought for the trip, as I won't be wearing these before I leave!

And even with just 26 days left, I still have to make housekeeping envelopes, make hair/nail appointments, look for ponchos, etc. So you'll have plenty of time!

Aaw thanks for making me feel better! :thumbsup2

Can't believe you only have 26 days left :woohoo: 40 days to go for us - can't wait to be in the 30s!! I have everything I won't be wearing before our trip in a pile to one side in my wardrobe so just have to pick it up and put it in the suitcase.

Yep, still have to do all those things you've listed. I'm going to try and get some ready made envelopes from these boards and other websites so I can just customise them.

Don't panic! Just start getting the small things together and you'll be fine! I wish I could start packing , but where would keep it!:confused3 I've decided I'm going to have DH take Kadence out for some fun time & then pack all of her stuff at once! Should work???? :thumbsup2

LOL, don't panic, you have plenty of time to get ready!

I can't pack early, I like to take the day off before we leave and do all the packing then! But I make lists before...lots and lots of lists of things that need to be done, and what needs to be packed! So it seems like you're on the right track! :thumbsup2

I've done online check in twice, and both times our room was ready really early, around 11 am, so I like it! I'm hoping for the same luck this time!

Do not panic, my dear! Those of us who pack this early are a little bit....well....off. :rotfl2: I say this about myself only, I'm sure others who pack early probably have much better reasons.;)

And let's be honest, I'm just going to unpack and repack twenty times between now and September 17th. It's a waste, I tell you!

All joking aside, you are doing the RIGHT thing by making a list. If you break that down in how long it will take to do each thing, you're realize that even if the list seems long, it'll take no time at all to scratch them off the list!

Just enjoy the rest of the month, and know that you will have plenty of time to pack!

There you go, pep talk over.:teacher:

(I take payments in forms of copious amounts of konfah... thank you:rotfl2:)

I'm a day behind you and havent even shopped, made packing list, talked to dd about flight plans... Wow I haven't done much spending to much time on boards. Hubby even has started asking if I have everything I need and when I'm going to pack. Not worried the last few weeks is when I will realy get down to business. Except for shorts/pants still need to make sure I have enough. We are so close to thirty days Can't wait. Forties flew by almost to fast. Hate to see summer go.

Aww bless, don't panic hun you have plenty of time. Your list pretty much sounds all there, just tick them off one at a time and go slow. Don't want to stress yourself out before you go now do you :)

You'll be fine! I always do all my packing the day before and in the 7 trips I've taken to Disney as an adult (when I had to my own packing), I haven't forgotten anything! And remember, most anything you could forget, you would be able to buy at the airport or resort.

I use online check in because I find it saves time in the check in line, especially at the Values! So since you'll be at POP, I would highly recommend doing it.

Don't panic! :upsidedow

I haven't done any of that either. The only things I do have "packed" are some toiletries that I have already (because I hit a good sale!) and some of DH's shorts that he doesn't want to wear until we get there because he has a tendency to ruin clothes ;) And when I say "packed" I mean, of course, "stuffed in a suitcase but not in it's permanent place and I will be repacking it". :D

I've never done online check in. I've also never had to wait more than 10 minutes in the check in line (especially in September) so I'm not sure if I'm missing some other benefit or what. :confused3 I didn't put in any room requests other than adjoining with my MIL and King beds... don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Hi Hon!!

As I was reading your post I had to laugh because I couldn't help but think we leave in 2 weeks and I still have shopping to do, lists to make, bills to pay etc all before we leave. I am still off work so I will take today and my sister and I are going to take our aunt (who is visiting from Scotland) shopping for back to clothes for her granddaughter! I figure I'll make a quick list and get what I can today.

Believe me, it all comes together in the end! I thought about getting suitcases out but know I would just keep re-doing things so I decided against it:rotfl2:

you will be fine, I just bought my suitcases so I haven't started packing yet. Since we need to take summer clothes I won't finish paking till the day before we leave

I've booked the day before we leave off from work so I can pack. :teeth: I've had my suitcase tucked under a table in my bedroom and been throwing things in there for weeks but I'm definately a last second packer.

I got your PM for our meet and FB... we'll get that set up this weekend!!

I wouldn't start to panic yet.

I think you will be able to get all those tasks accomplished in time for your trip. There are a few things on there that won't take long to do, and the other things you will have fun doing because you'll be thinking about how you're about to go to WDW!:thumbsup2

It might seem overwhelming right now, but I have waited longer than you do some of those things and haven't had any issues. Heck, my last trip, I didn't even have laundry going to pack until noon the day before! :rotfl:

As far as online check-in goes, I think it's a case by case basis of whether or not you should do it. If you don't have any requests and/or nothing you need to talk to anyone about, I'd say go ahead and do online check-in. However, if you want to make sure you got the building you requested or need a special service, regular check-in is the way to go.

And if your To-Do list is really stressing you out, the best thing to do is make a calender of the days left and make a "Do this by this date" schedule. That way you can kind of space everything out and see when you'll have free time to get those tasks accomplished.

Don't panic! Just start getting the small things together and you'll be fine! I wish I could start packing , but where would keep it!:confused3 I've decided I'm going to have DH take Kadence out for some fun time & then pack all of her stuff at once! Should work???? :thumbsup2

Lol thanks! I'm not in as much of a panic mode today! I'm sure it'll all come together.

It must be hard for you not being able to pack. Wow on keeping the trip a secret for this long! I can't wait for the reveal and to see Kadence all excited!! :thumbsup2 Good luck with packing Kadence's stuff once she is out for some fun time - sounds like a good plan. Hopefully it'll work :goodvibes

LOL, don't panic, you have plenty of time to get ready!

Lol thanks hun! Although some days I feel like I have plenty of time other days it feels like this trip will be here and I will have nothing ready!! :rotfl: I'm sure everything will work out fine.

I either pack really early and take stuff out and then repack it or I leave it until the last minute - think I need to find a happy medium! Yep, making the list yesterday sure helped me feel better and I can even put one thing on the list as done - made my hair and nail appointments today!

Ooh if you've been lucky maybe we should look into it. May just try the online check in and hope for the best.

Lol I laughed at the packing and unpacking part as I have been guilty of that in the past! :lmao: Maybe it is a good thing then that I am not packing so early this time round. I'm sure it will be fine - I was just having a panic yesterday thinking about it all but writing the list sure has helped :thumbsup2

Have already done one (booked the appointments) and am hoping to be able to cross off another two this weekend. So you are right - I'll have them scratched off in no time at all! :cool1:

I was going to write thanks but then realised the payment part and thought better! :rotfl2:

Lol don't worry am sure you will get around to doing it all :thumbsup2 Just start making lists and then it'll be done in no time. I know I can't believe I'm saying this either after being in major panic mode yesterday!! :lmao:

These boards sure are addictive! Yep, am not going to get going properly until 12 day before our trip!! I'm finally in the 30s today!! :yay: The forties were pretty slow for me - felt like I was waiting forever for them to be over. Hopefully the 30s will fly by! Lol we don't have any summer so am happy for it to fly by!

Btw you are doing a great job with your PTR - have you considered putting a link in your signature so people know you have started one. Let me know if you need help doing it :goodvibes

Aww bless, don't panic hun you have plenty of time. Your list pretty much sounds all there, just tick them off one at a time and go slow. Don't want to stress yourself out before you go now do you :)

Aaw thanks hun - I sure feel better today and knew writing how I felt on here yesterday would help and you guys would understand

Lol am crossing them off one at a time and think I should be okay. No, definitely don't want to be stressed out before I even get on the plane - that is not a good way to start a vacation!

You'll be fine! I always do all my packing the day before and in the 7 trips I've taken to Disney as an adult (when I had to my own packing), I haven't forgotten anything! And remember, most anything you could forget, you would be able to buy at the airport or resort.

Thanks! That's very reassuring - am sure I'll manage to pack everything with all the lists I have done of things I need to take with me. You are right in that I can always buy most things if forgotten - just need to remember the important stuff!

I am definitely coming round to the idea of doing online check in as seems like it is a popular choice from the responses I've received. I sure love these boards! ;)

Don't panic! :upsidedow

I haven't done any of that either. Lol, am not panicking today!! Think I was just getting myself in a muddle yesterday - I tend to do that

:woohoo: on hitting a good sale - don't you love it when that happens? Lol at your definition of 'packed'! I love that! I understand what you mean though - there's no point giving something it's definitive place as most likely it'll have to be moved once new stuff goes into the suitcase.

That's good to know :thumbsup2 From what people are saying it just means your room is ready for you a bit early so I don't think you are missing some other benefit. However, the people that have used it are highly recommending it so it may be worth trying. Think I will be doing it so will let you know what I think after our trip. We have put in a building request but don't think it makes much difference when doing online check in. Hope that helps though I'm probably not the best person to be giving advice on the matter

Hey hun, like I mentioned on your PTR it sure was funny reading your post today! :lmao: I also wish we lived closer so we could be a calming effect to each other - I feel better today though having crossed one thing off the list. Just need to get through the rest!

Enjoy shopping today! I hope you have a fun trip and get everything you need. Look forward to seeing your purchases later.

I know it'll all come together in the end - like my mum says panicking is part of the fun!! :rotfl2: I'm the same - it has been very tempting to get them out but I know I will only keep rearranging everything!

you will be fine, I just bought my suitcases so I haven't started packing yet. Since we need to take summer clothes I won't finish paking till the day before we leave

I feel much better today - think I was just lacking sleep, food and drink yesterday! I saw your suitcases and think they are great - obviously I really like the colour pink and love how they will be easy to spot on the carousel! :thumbsup2

I didn't even think about the fact that you guys will need summer clothes right up until your trip. That's one advantage to living in cold and rainy Manchester - you hardly need summer clothes here!! :lmao:
