Our Seemingly Silly Semi-Illogical Four Day Whirlwind Trip

Great as always.

As I was looking at the pictures I thought it looked like you could walk to the GF. Cool. I have only seen the Poly or the GF when we were on a bus heading to WL from and to the airport.

Hope your feeling better on the way home. Wouldn't want a reoccurance on the plane.

Didn't your mother ever tell you, no dairy if you have a stomachache or now fat or sugar if you have you know...:lmao:

I Love You Kay

Even when you feel bad you write real good!

I am so sorry your trip ended with such a foul tummy. I've been to the world many many times and have never done poop-dee-doo review review review...after reading your experience, I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

If I want corny and fun with alcohol I'll head over to the Adventurer's Club~

Wow Kay!

I am finally caught-up. What a great trip report. I just read the Disney Grand Ghetto and It's a Small World sections to my husband. He now has a better understanding of why I love reading your trip report so much!

Can't wait for more!

Debbie

Oooh, Kay. I'm so sorry you were sick!! That sounds supremely un-fun. Glad you made the best of it, though.

I was glad to hear that you felt well enough to venture out to the Poly on your last morning, Kay. I have to say that I thought the fruit plate and yogurt looked pretty good!

Count me as another, along with Marita, who has not tried Tonga toast yet

Maybe on my next trip . . .

Hi Kay:) Once again, another great installment. I wish I could quote all the bits that made me LOL. However, there are too many to list and I don't know how to multi-quote. (And don't anyone try to teach me...still don't get it....I'm putting my fingers in my ears and closing my eyes la la la la la.)

I'm sorry that you weren't feeling quite up to having the Tonga toast, but I'm glad you made it to the Poly and had a nice morning. Mmmm, I was hoping you'd post a pic of the Tonga toast and you didn't disappoint!! I think I'll follow your advice and ask if they can substitute some other kind of fruit and not the dreaded  Maybe Gary from Lowell will give me the evil eye, heh.

I loved the pics of the Poly. I plan on trying to convince the DH to stay there one of these trips. I've visited the resort, but after seeing your pics I want to stay there. But then I also want to stay at the WL after seeing your pics! There's just something so special about your writing, together with the photo's.....I always feel like I'm right there. Thank you! Can we all beg you to stretch out the last few hours of your trip into, let's say, 5 more installments?:confused3 I don't want this report to end!

Kay! Tonga Toast looks too sweet. I wonder if you can get it without sugar on the outside. I must taste it next time though.

SO sorry you were sick that day! I hope you felt better lounging by the pool spotting pool hoppers! I would love to lounge, but I have young kids I need to keep half an eye on. SOMEDAY!

Originally posted by Kay: All my sandwiches taste good. They’re so small that sharing will be difficult. I continue to struggle with the food-swapping issue. Some methods are more acceptable than others, but as I noted while replying to reader comments, Lowell and I don’t always employ the most dignified methods. Most people would probably transfer a piece of food to the recipient’s plate. The problem is, usually our plates are so full there’s no place to set the sample down without getting other foods all over it. Now and then a bread plate is available but, more often than not, the bread plate is covered with cucumbers picked off our salads or some other offensive meal debris. Consequently, we resort to the “open the hanger, here comes the plane” method of serving a forkful of food across the table. Failing that, we do what I was reprimanded for by a complete stranger last Friday, which is to reach over to the other person’s plate and saw off or stab a bite of whatever looks good.

What about the old swap forks method? That's what we usually do, if not, "open the hanger, here comes the plane".

I am far behind, but catching up.

I enjoyed having tea with you and Lowell! I could almost taste everything...unfortunatly for my newly pregnant self, the Pate was a bit much. Next time you should include a warning. ;)

Yup Kay, you got it all!
That was a/an hilarious episode. ( you can never tell which one with the "H".

And even though other's have commented on it,,,,,

from kay:
I’ve read that Tiki gods are most often depicted with their eyes closed because a Tiki can smell trouble before he sees it. I’m not impressed. I had that very same ability last night after Poop-De-Doo, and I assure you it was no godlike power.

That is funny shi,, stuff!
I do have to remark on that camera your using, MAN! I guess you can set that thing on "super macro" if you want. I have never seen such "clear" close-ups of food before in my life, from any pictures.
Not really sure that's a good thing though. Even the Long John Silver's commercials back off a bit but still keep the red lights on it.
But your pictures were incredible. I'd swear that Tonga Toast was breathing. And your fruit plate with granola stuffage looked a lot to me like something I saw on Animal Planet last night about larvae.
Great job, we are going to miss you if you ever bring this to a close.:flower3:

I thought long vowel following the 'h' was a "an" and a short vowel was an "a" ?? Did the nuns lead me astray?

like something I saw on Animal Planet last night about larvae.

Nebo, you need to be watching some Discovery Channel. The death-defying baby ducks jumping out of a 15-foot high tree hole was the bomb! Not to mention the tremendously ginormous pile of cockaroach poop! It put the "Poop-de-dooh" to shame!

Great job, we are going to miss you if you ever bring this to a close.:flower3:

:rolleyes1 "This is the TR that never ends, it goes on and on my friends!" :rolleyes1
And I too, hope it doesn't end!

Hello Kay, Just thought I would post on your TR. It took me a few days to read the whole thing, but I am finally caught up. Your report is fantastic. I had read Nebo's report and told him it was really good and I loved it. He said if you liked mine, then read yours. I am so glad I did. :thumbsup2 I hope you are feeling better and completely over the Poop-De-do review, review, review.
Connie

Hi Kay,

I hope you are happy - because of you I have become addicted to reading trip reports :lmao: Of course, you set a pretty high standard! I was crying I was laughing so hard. My kids/husband think I have lost it (there may be some truth to that :rolleyes1 ). Mostly wanted to say a big thank you for providing me with so much entertainment. :thumbsup2

Wow, I’m behind in responding to reader comments, but that’s good since it means I’ve had lots of posts coming in. Thanks! I’ll break this “shout-out” into a couple segments. Here’s the first half:

PAGE TWO, KAY!!!!!:scared1:

Nothing to see here, move along...

(did you just call us barnacles???)

:wave2: UtahMama: Thanks for the “bump.” Yes, I called you barnacles. In the beginning of my report I wrote that readers are like barnacles clinging to whatever vacationers will take them vicariously along to experience and enjoy Disney vacations. I’m a barnacle, too, enjoying other people’s trip reports. So, now you see that you are a barnacle and “The Ostrich.”

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Holy crap! (literally) That could very well be the funniest thing I ever read. Kay, you are too much!

:wave2: MagicAddict2178: Thank you, thank you. Where can I find a “taking a bow” smilie? I love to be considered “too much.” Hehehe Way back when my mother used to tell me “You’re the limit!” I think that amounted to the same thing as “too much!”

:rotfl2: Sis, you are hilarious! I will miss your reports. Gary from Lowell might have been worried about his tip.

Did I ever mention I worked at the Poly? From '84-87. But they didn't have Tonga toast then. But they had a yummy chicken sandwich, which they don't do anymore.

Hey, an interesting fact about the pirate cruise. The Boat is labled "Sassagoula River" something or other. That is the river going from POR to Downtown Disney. Somebody must have made a deal to move a boat over there.

:wave2: Backstage_Gal: Yes, the thought that my meager breakfast might be endangering Gary from Lowell’s tip did cross my mind.

I didn’t know you worked at the Poly before. I keep learning new things about my DIS sister. I wonder who invented Tonga Toast. They ought to ask for royalties every time it’s served.

As for the boat, yes, I thought it was odd that it was named after the river that goes to the Port Orleans resorts, but I figured the reason it was in foreign waters was because There be pirates aboard . . . and these pirates seized the vessel and sailed her to the Polynesian Resort. Makes sense to me.

I've never seen one of these. Is it strictly a Disney thing? I expected you to write that when it lit and vibrated that you squeezed it and spoke into one side, "Beam us up!" and you would be transported to your table immediately. (Can you tell I've been watching too many Star Trek DVD's lately???) Anyhow, nice going on the mind control.

Sorry you weren't able to enjoy the Tonga Toast, but at least Lowell didn't miss having some. Glad you were able to make it to the restaurant and didn't have to waste the whole day sick in bed.

-Iluvsushi

:wave2: iluvsushi: No the beepers are not a Disney thing. They have them in most restaurant chains. Probably not in the artsy little places or the very high class ones, but pretty much everywhere else.

Great as always.

As I was looking at the pictures I thought it looked like you could walk to the GF. Cool. I have only seen the Poly or the GF when we were on a bus heading to WL from and to the airport.

:wave2: NAB: Yes, it makes a nice walk along the beach. We have walked from the Poly to the GF and back a few times, but you could always take the monorail back. Many people are too busy with parks to “resort hop” but it is truly a wonderful way to spend part or all of a day. During our trip in 2004 we spent the greater part of our trip resort hopping and trying their restaurants. I love the landscaping, architecture and theming at all the resorts and I have a great time just walking around looking at everything. Plus, it’s free entertainment!

:wave2: tiggerwannabe: Thanks so much for the kind words. We almost went to the Adventure’s club on the trip before last. It’s still on my “to do list.” But I wouldn’t want you to rule out HDDR just because of my bad experience. As I said, it was a fun thing to do at least once, and I may have brought the illness on myself my stuffing myself with too much shortcake.

Wow Kay!

I am finally caught-up. What a great trip report. I just read the Disney Grand Ghetto and It's a Small World sections to my husband. He now has a better understanding of why I love reading your trip report so much!

Can't wait for more!

Debbie

:wave2: debbie04: I love when people share my report with family members. I hope your DH enjoyed the parts you read him. Thanks for the compliments. I’ve enjoyed entertaining you all.

Oooh, Kay. I'm so sorry you were sick!! That sounds supremely un-fun. Glad you made the best of it, though.

:wave2: kpk89: Thanks. You’re right, I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone, and it was extremely inconvenient since our trip was too short to waste time being sick. Fortunately, it didn’t ruin the day completely.

Fab report again Kay but what really did it for me was the pictures they were fantastic.

:wave2: 2ScottishPrincesses: Thanks so much. I hadn’t used the camera much for vacation photos. That was the second trip we’d had it along, but everything turned out well except for indoor pictures which were too dark. I need to learn more about taking pictures indoors. Mostly we use the camera for eBay and have special lighting set up.

It's almost done. :sad1:

:wave2: celerystalker: Thanks for being such a faithful reader, reader # 100. ;) I have enjoyed all your comments and support. :yay:

You didn't taint my opinion Kay...

I have tons on my list before I ever think about visiting HDDR and all of them are included in the ticket price ;)

My family has done none of the water parks, none of the golf or mini golf courses, no Luau, no HDDR...what we *have* done is all of the main parks, PI, both universals and sea world and plan on doing em all over again :)

I am going to have to try the Tonga Toast in a couple of months:banana:
Very nice Pictures Kay:yay:

Hello again, back with more "shout-outs!" :goodvibes

I was glad to hear that you felt well enough to venture out to the Poly on your last morning, Kay. I have to say that I thought the fruit plate and yogurt looked pretty good!

Count me as another, along with Marita, who has not tried Tonga toast yet.

Maybe on my next trip . . .

:wave2: Minnie_Moo: Actually, the fruit plate was pretty good, and no doubt a lot healthier than Tonga Toast. Still, I would rather have Tonga Toast. I think everyone should try it at least once. Some people find it too heavy and filling, but we think it is sooo good.

I second that! Too funny!!!!!

:wave2: TigerKat: Oh good; maybe Mom is right. I’m The Limit!

Can we all beg you to stretch out the last few hours of your trip into, let's say, 5 more installments? I don't want this report to end!

:wave2: SunKat: Ok, I’ll let you off the hook for multi-quoting, even though it is your sworn duty as one of my most faithful readers to highlight all my most clever parts.

If you ever get to the Kona Café and they make you up a different fruit version of the toast, PM me and let me know. I think it would be neat with other kinds of fruit, even if it isn’t as tropical. I wonder what it would be like with pineapple. That would be tropical.

We’ll see how much time dilation I can work into the remainder of my report. I think I’m seriously winding down to the close. But if you or anyone else has a great brain storm for one of my “and a half” episodes, I might be able to toss in another spoof or two before I finish. The idea has to particularly inspire me and get the creative juices flowing!

Oh my God, I love Tonga toast That picture made my mouth water. Great pictures, too.

:wave2: KKCannon. Hello. I don’t recall seeing your name before. Have you been a long time lurker? In any case, welcome, fellow NYer. Please stop by with comments again.

SOMEDAY!

:wave2: UtahMama: You’d be missing much of the appeal without the sugar-cinnamon coating, because that makes it sort of crispy, and it’s really good with the crunchy coating. If you asked to have it made without, though, I am sure they would.

Next time you should include a warning. ;)

:wave2: MommyPoppins: Yes, the swap forks method does sound more discreet. Unless I manage to drop the fork full of food during the transfer, which sounds like something I would do! I’m excited by your news of a new little Poppins! Hurray!

Yup Kay, you got it all!
That was a/an hilarious episode. ( you can never tell which one with the "H".

Great job, we are going to miss you if you ever bring this to a close.

:wave2: nebo: We bought this camera specifically for its ability to take good clear photos of small, detailed items for eBay like the interior workings of a watch, etc. It really does a great job. Thanks for all the kind words. I will miss writing the report, but yes, I do need to bring it to a close. Thanks for reading and being a part of the silly-people-have-more-fun gang.

"This is the TR that never ends, it goes on and on my friends!" And I too, hope it doesn't end!

:wave2: Suzflee: Hello again to another of my faithful readers. You know, the good thing about trip reports is that you learn something new with each one, and take away something useful or funny that stays with you as part of your Disney lore. Maybe it’s Time Dilation, porky jerky, the Chasm of Fire, worker’s rights for dolls, or whatever. I just hope everyone who has read this report takes with them something memorable as a momento of the time we spent together in this trip story.

Connie

:wave2: Disney 4-ever: Hello and welcome. I’m glad Nebo sent you over and that you enjoyed reading this novella! Thanks for posting comments to let me know you’re out there reading.

:thumbsup2

:wave2: Vero4us. Another new reader, hurray! Thanks for the wonderful compliments. Your enjoyment is my reward for the time and effort spent. It’s wonderful to hear that I’ve brought some laughs and happiness to fellow Disney fans.

You didn't taint my opinion Kay...

I have tons on my list before I ever think about visiting HDDR and all of them are included in the ticket price ;)

:wave2: tiggerwannabe: You’re right that there are so many restaurants to try and fun things to do in the parks; even after multiple trips to the World many of us haven’t scratched the surface. And if someone has done everything on their agenda, it’s time to redo favorites again.

I am going to have to try the Tonga Toast in a couple of months.
Very nice Pictures Kay

:wave2: Goofyfan1: You post count number for your last post was # 14. Thanks! I’m honored to receive your Lucky Fourteen post. Have a great trip and I hope you get to sample some delicious Tonga Toast.
