Our Seemingly Silly Semi-Illogical Four Day Whirlwind Trip

Kay, I WAS seriously considering making an ADR for WCC for our Oct trip--however, the pork jerky and soggy cornbread is making me reconsider! :rotfl:
Thanks for the tip-off!

I too wish you would have spelled DRY on your plate. I think this is a really nifty little trick and plan to employ it as soon as possible. Thanks so much for the laughs and the education as well!

Hello friends/readers/barnacles!

You - boring ?? Never. Please share your hopping stories with us!!

:wave2: TigerKat: Ok, I promise to take you resort hopping, since you never find my company boring. I’d like to think I’m interesting. Sometimes when I do weird thing like iron clothes on myself, or clean the kitchen floor by skating over the dirty spots with a Scotch-Brite pad under one foot and a damp paper towel under the other, I say to Lowell, “Gee, aren’t you glad you didn’t marry some dull, normal woman?”

Oh please more soon! Patience has never been my strong point!!! I wish your trip would have been longer because it'll be awful when this all ends!!!

:wave2: Liz. You’re so nice! I forgot to tell you, I did read part of your trip report a while back. The fact that you stayed at Fort Wilderness was somewhat unusual in a trip report, and that attracted me. You and your family look like a lot of fun. And don’t worry about my report ending. Yes, it will have to end eventually, but the Time Dilation Effect is a marvelous thing. If I set it on “slooooowwww” I may still be writing this four day report in May. By then the episodes will be so slow and detailed, however, that one entire installment may consist of me answering a knock at the door.

Kay, I think this episode had me laughing aloud more than any of the others. Very funny! These episodes just keep getting better and better. I can't wait for the next one, but it's always a bittersweet anticipation because I know that each new episode takes us one step closer to the inevitable end of the report.

:wave2: iluvsushi: Thanks so much. I thought this was one of the funnier segments, too, but it’s good to hear that other people think so, too. Maybe the funniest thing is, if you really think about it, nothing much happened. No one made a public spectacle of us, and we didn’t have to do anything weird. The funny parts were mostly what went through my head. Maybe that means my head is a pretty weird and funny place. As for my report finally ending, see my comment above to Liz. I hope you will still be around for the “I answer a knock at the door episode.”

OK (Oh KAY!) I got my Sarsaparilla but they spelled it wrong:d-i-e-t-p-e-p-s-i???? 2 out of 3 times to WCC, I have been the singled out spectacle. I dont know if I should brag about that! I actually had to ride the stick pony around and LOUDLY sing Happy Birthday to myself. Good times. I think that was your best chapter yet! I love that you say a blessing before you eat at a restaraunt! That is one meal that Shirley needed to be blessed! Is Lowell's father LDS? (a mormon) THAT blessing sounded just like our prayers...the more hungry we are the more long-winded and Old Testiment-ish.....Oy! I will use the term "snobbish high brow" daily. Thanks for the laughs!!!!

:wave2: UtahMama: I remember reading your WCC episode and how you got to be the “life of the party.” It was a funny read. I felt sort of sorry for you. Actually, I was too busy laughing to feel very sorry for you! And no, Lowell’s father is not a Mormon, but he is a minister, so that somewhat explains his formal, rambling prayers. It’s good to hear that this was one of your favorite episodes. I value your opinion as a fellow funny trip report writer.

I Love it!!!! I can see the evil genius wheel turning in your head.

:wave2: Princess Tinkerbell: Yes, and the evil genius wheel that turns in my head is powered by several very active hamsters. They run most of the day!

Oh my, I'm only on page 11! I don't consider myself a lurker. Just wanted to read it all before I passed on my compliments. I can't even pass over everyone's replies or your replies to their replies because those are so humorous also. You are a treat...now help me explain that to my hungry kids and my DH who needs some clean clothes! You are a blessing to my day! :woohoo:

:wave2: Suzflee: Oh boy! Another new reader. Some Disney people collect pins. I collect readers. I love when new people stop in and say hello. It really makes my day. I hope you’ll take a break, though, to feed your kids and throw some clothes in the washer. I sure wouldn’t want to be responsible for child abuse. Or a dysfunctional marriage. I promise my report will still be here waiting for you when you get back.

Fantastic trip report!, I've read the lot tonight instead of doing the ironing :yay: :yay: , Can't wait for our next trip & eating at the WCC just hope my eldest DD doesn't ask for ketchup  , but I'm pretty sure she will :scared1:

:wave2: CHEK: Hey! Another new reader! And you have multiplied my International Readership, too! Sorry about your ironing. Well, maybe a little. Never do today what can be put off until tomorrow. Isn’t that how the saying goes? Have fun if you go to WCC. The whole ketchup gag is fairly low key and funny. It’s not like having to stand up and sing “I’m a Little Tea Pot,” or ride around on a stick pony singing Happy Birthday to yourself, like poor UtahMama. (hehehe).

Easily the most entertaining dining review I've ever read. I, too, love that you give thanks before meals, whether in public or private. That's something I used to do faithfully and have regretfully fallen out of the practice. I'm going to charge Bunny with being our official "reNemberer". Now, that'll work!

So, when are you going back??:rolleyes1

:wave2: bunnysmum: I hadn’t thought about it being a dining review, but, DUH! Yes, I guess it was. I wish I could say my criticism was highly exaggerated. Not that I ever exaggerate. Much. Unfortunately, the pork chops really were pretty dry and Lowell’s meal was just so-so. For what we paid, it was a let down. I think it bothered us more than it might someone else since we are so focused on getting our money’s worth for things.

That’s nice if I have inspired you to go back to the habit of prayer before meals. I wish more people would, and not just because we’d get less funny looks if more people did it.

When are we going back? To WCC? Or to Disney in general? I would try WCC again, but maybe for lunch rather than dinner. No pork chops!!! We have no immediate plans to go back to the World. We have an upcoming vacation soon, but we’re going elsewhere. Sorry to shock everyone. Of course this means that our vacation destination is about to develop unseasonably warm weather. We’re hoping for another manifestation of the Lucky Fourteen Weather Phenomenon. Can we be so lucky, yet again? I’ll let you know as soon as we get back, so you can verify whether the LFWP is still intact!

Kay, that was so funny! :lmao:

For those of you contemplating going, go for dinner, lunch is much more subdued. Probably because it is less busy then.

:wave2: Backstage_Gal. Thanks for the comments. You’re such a faithful reader. I had heard on the DIS that WCC had been “toned down” somewhat. I have little basis of comparison, but it seemed fairly lively to me. We went for lunch the last time, and there wasn’t a big crowd, but it was still fun. They did completely different things that time. No ketchup bottle gag, so until this trip, I had heard about it, but never seen it happen.

:wave2: Bari: Oh, go there anyway and have fun. As long as you don’t wear dentures. Many people say they go for the fun, and the food is secondary. Still, I hope the pork chops aren’t always that dry. Hey, you could be the guinea pig and find out “what happens if you ask to send your food back to the chef.” Good luck with that! We’ll be rooting for you! Let us know what happens. (insert evil laugh here).

Kay, another wonderful installment! This is becoming a regular part of our "evening wind-down time" for dh and me. Thanks for keeping us entertained! :goodvibes

Well Kay your signature doesn't lie! I read your report and nobody got hurt. I was very entertained so I didn't need to ask for double my money back.

You are a great writer and I am enjoying getting to know you and your Lowell.

Keep it coming! (Pretty please with pork jerky on top.)

Kay,

Once again, a fine installment! My family and I will be dining at WCC at the end of March, thanks for helping me whittle down some of the menu choices. No pork, no pasta...think I might just roll the dice with the skillet and hope something tickles my fancy!

Thanks for bringing me one day closer to March 21. Keep 'em coming!

PS What is the deal with the shirtless fella in the Roaring Forks photo? At first glance I thought I found Nebo:laughing: , then I remembered that was a different TR...:goodvibes Is that a "clothing optional" snack bar??

Another funny report! I totally forgot about "salad man" from earlier in your trippie. I cracked up all over again after reading that. I have to (and will) try that some day. Well, my sasparilla is all over the computer now after reading about your desire to spell out "dry" with your pork jerky. The possibilites are endless for writing with food. Thanks for the idea. Spaghetti would be really good to write something in cursive; peas could dot the i's etc. etc. I need to go out to dinner soon so I can give this a whirl.:yay:

Love your writing and I enjoy checking in to see if you've added new installments. It's just like reading a good book-you can't wait to get back to where you left off.

And, I meant to tell you back when you posted the pic... your cat is a cutie pie!

Kay,

PS What is the deal with the shirtless fella in the Roaring Forks photo? At first glance I thought I found Nebo:laughing: , then I remembered that was a different TR...:goodvibes Is that a "clothing optional" snack bar??

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! :happytv: That's the same thought I had! Of course, I also thought of him today during a Simpsons rerun when Homer slipped on some water and fell down at the bottom of the stairs... :headache:

PART FIFTEEN AND ONE HALF:

BREAKING NEWS!

Local police officers rushed this evening to the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Park to quell an uprising which could not be contained by Disney security staff. Witnesses on the scene, at the ride known as It’s a Small World, reported that a doll from Russia was the only confirmed injury. The uprising was allegedly organized by dolls from several nations. Approximately 60% of the dolls at It’s a Small World attempted to escape from the building at 7:52 PM this evening, resulting in a violent altercation between themselves and Disney security teams. Disney quickly called for police reinforcement.”[/I]

Reading this reminded me of the book "The Kingdom Keepers". Only your story is funny and more likely to happen.:rotfl:

I got the chance to visit the Wilderness Lodge. It is beautiful. I told DH he would love it there. So that is goal for me now to stay there.

I got my first towel animal at Pop!:thumbsup2 It was a dog and I was so excited that, like you, I had to take a picture right away. He stayed with me the whole trip. Of course when I called home and told the family of my excitement they just didn't get it.:confused3 But I know you and all the others here understand.

Kay,

I made it! And the kids got fed...no clean clothes yet, but there's hope for tomorrow if you're not posting until this weekend. appreciate the time you take to reply to everyone's reply.

Our family also says a blessing in restaurants. Here's a hint to keep from getting "mashed potato face"...we try to do it after the server brings the drinks since he/she won't be back for awhile. We had too many incidents of "server interuptus" when they must not have noticed what we were doing.

Thanks for the details on the ketchup prank - I had commented on one of the photo threads about the amount of bottles on the table in one particular picture. Guess I know where the pic was taken!

Would you rent Lowell out? Sounds like the perfect Disney partner!

Only bad thing about your TS - I feel like I'm getting to know the other posters too and have a yearning to read Nebo's, Utah Mama's and other reports...

so many stories....so little time :surfweb:

I thought about you when you were gone. I believe Manie-iac was also gone at the same time, so I'm looking forward to hearing how her vacation went, too. I'm so glad your trip was "the best ever." It sounds like it will make a great trip report, especially with all those photos.

Yep I am back and started my solo trip report. First 2 days are posted. I am not a creative writer so my reports are more blah. I have realized I will not do another solo trip again at least not that long. By Fri afternoon(I got there on Wed) I was lonely and realized that I just did not enjoy the attractions as much being alone. SIL called and wants us to go April vacation next year and stay at SOG again.:thumbsup2 I am starting to work on DH, should have him saying "lets do it" within a couple of weeks.

PART SIX AND ONE HALF:

AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR:

DISNEY’S EXTRA-VALUE RESORT

An all new Disney budget resort is scheduled to debut in June 2008. Make plans now to stay at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Saver Inn!

Space Saver Inn rooms will be two-thirds the price, and two-thirds the size of Disney’s popular Value Resorts. To save space, virtual furniture will be painted on the walls. 3-D glasses will be provided.

When you’re ready to sleep, simply select and inflate the size air mattress you need. You’ll find several on the shelf in the closet along with a handy wall-mounted air pump. Then, place the foot of the mattress near the wall and simply roll out your sheets and blankets from the retractable bedding dispenser. It’s as easy and fun, just like rolling out a window shade.

A fold down table and benches are found near the door for your convenience. Your TV is mounted on the wall.

Bring all the clothing you like, because your Space Saver Inn closet is equipped with, what else but - Space Bags! When you’ve filled the bags with clothing, insert the handy Suck-O-Matic hose provided, and vacuum the air from your bags. You’ll never miss the drawer space, and your clothing will remain dust and insect free until you’re ready to wear it.

You’ll love the convenience of the Space Saver Inn. In the morning, hang your inflated mattress from hooks along the ceiling, and enjoy all your extra floor space. The Suck-O-Matic hose doubles as your carpet vacuum, since Mousekeeping is not included in the extra-value plan.

Need towels? Towel dispenser bins are located on each floor near the stairwells. Toss your used towels in the laundry chute next to the dispenser bin, then get fresh towels from the dispenser. Just insert your Key To The World card in the Towel Pass slot. The bin will open, and you will be able to remove a bath towel, hand towel, and wash cloth for each member in your party, once per day. Remember, only one each of these items per guest per day. Violators misusing the dispenser bin will be administered a mild but unpleasant electrical shock from the Evil Emperor Zurg.

Your family is sure to love the new Buzz Lightyear Space Saver Inn, and YOU’LL love the savings. The Inn is environmentally friendly, so as Buzz reminds his guests, “When you stay here, you’ll be helping to save the Earth, but even more importantly, you’ll be saving Space.”

I know, I know. It's such a pain when someone quotes such a big amount.

But this was so creative! I had to stop here to tell you I'm enjoying your report. Obviously, I'm not caught up. And it will take me a while to get there, but this was hilarious.

I'm enjoying your report and looking forward to the rest!!

Hi Again! How did it get to be Friday already? :confused3

Kay, another wonderful installment! This is becoming a regular part of our "evening wind-down time" for dh and me. Thanks for keeping us entertained! :goodvibes

:wave2: DiznEeyore: That’s so nice. Thanks for being such loyal readers. I wish I could write daily installments, but I have to work for a living and still have time to chase Lowells socks around and hang up his coat!

Well Kay your signature doesn't lie! I read your report and nobody got hurt. I was very entertained so I didn't need to ask for double my money back.

You are a great writer and I am enjoying getting to know you and your Lowell.

Keep it coming! (Pretty please with pork jerky on top.)

:wave2: TwinkieMama: Hello and welcome to one of my favorite Trip Report celebs. So far, no one has asked for their money back. I’m hoping that’s because they really enjoyed the story and not because it’s free. I suppose they could ask for the hours back they spent reading it, then I’d have to figure out if the Time Dilation Effect could be used to rebate any lost hours.

Kay,

Once again, a fine installment! My family and I will be dining at WCC at the end of March, thanks for helping me whittle down some of the menu choices. No pork, no pasta...think I might just roll the dice with the skillet and hope something tickles my fancy!

:wave2: PKWallaby: The all-you-can-eat skillet is probably a fairly safe bet, unless they purposely make it inedible so you won’t eat a lot! Just kidding. I’m sure the skillet will be great. I really hadn’t thought about the shirtless guy. That’s funny. I remember him laying around at the pool when we were out there. He had his eyes shut, so he couldn’t see me ogling his fantastic tan. The way Lowell tans, he’d be that dark, too, if we’d had more pool time. I guess The Tan Guy just worked up a thirst from frying by the pool for hours, so he did the “come as you are” thing at the snack bar.

Another funny report! I totally forgot about "salad man" from earlier in your trippie. I cracked up all over again after reading that. I have to (and will) try that some day. And, I meant to tell you back when you posted the pic... your cat is a cutie pie!

:wave2: Spaghetti messages sound like fun. Thanks for encouraging our bad behavior with new ideas. I wonder how many fine restaurants we can get banned from this year!? And thanks for saying reading my story is like reading a good book. I strive for that. Also, Tornado thanks you for the compliment. He really is a handsome cat. Sometimes he poses with items in Lowell’s eBay listings as our spokes-model. Or would that be Meow-model. One guy wrote after receiving his item and said it arrived safely and he liked it very much, but where was the cat? Fortunately he was just kidding!

Yep I am back and started my solo trip report. First 2 days are posted. I am not a creative writer so my reports are more blah. I have realized I will not do another solo trip again at least not that long. :wave2: Maine-iac: Here’s hoping your DH will want to go for your next trip, and that you get your wish to stay at WL. I’ve done a few days at DL solo, and my first trip to WDW was solo. Yes, it’s more fun in many ways to have company, but there is something to be said for being able to go where you want, when you want. And if you want to lay around by the pool and do nothing, no one is tugging at your sleeve. I’m glad you got a towel doggie to keep you company.

Kay, I made it! And the kids got fed...no clean clothes yet, but there's hope for tomorrow if you're not posting until this weekend. appreciate the time you take to reply to everyone's reply.

Would you rent Lowell out? Sounds like the perfect Disney partner!

:wave2: Suzflee: You’re a fast reader. Now you have time to start Nebo’s and UtahMama’s. Warning: UtahMama’s is VERY long, so you need to cook ahead for the week before starting hers. I’m glad your kids finally got a meal. Yes, you’re right it’s best to give thanks for the meal after the waitress/waiter comes back with beverages. It depends on how fast the service is, and whose praying. If it’s Lowell’s Dad, you have to hope the kitchen is backed up with orders and your meal is on hold for a while.

I told Lowell someone wanted to rent him and he asked, “For how much?” I gave him a nasty pinch that may leave a red mark!

I know, I know. It's such a pain when someone quotes such a big amount.

:wave2: nicolemarie. Welcome! No problem, quote away. I like when people post things they like as they read through, rather than wait till they’re all caught up. It’s fun to hear which parts people particularly enjoyed. Seeing The Space Saver Inn pop up was a blast from the past for me since I wrote it quite a while ago, and some of the other readers probably enjoyed the reminder, too. I think I would stay there for my next whirlwind trip, or tack on a day or two before or after our timeshare stays, if they ever built it!

:wave2: Hey Lurkers! I counted my readers and I'm nearing the 100 mark. Who will be the magic # 100? I'll dedicate an episode to reader # 100. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Hi Kay! I loved reading your Whispering Canyon episode!!! You must be cranking out a lot of steps on that pedometer with your long trek to the dreaded back room table!! Sorry to hear the food was pretty awful. I wonder if you can go there and just have dessert (shakes) and not get tarred and feathered for it! :confused3

Thanks for reading some of my trip report! We had an awesome time and I can't wait till our next visit in December to WL!!! :goodvibes And as a side note, my DS comes home for college this afternoon for the long weekend! :dance3: Haven't seen him for a month so I'll be doing this :yay: all day! I hope my co-workers are patient and don't think I just need to go to the bathroom!!!

Just wondering, do you have another trip planned? And can we all come?

Fantastic...I bet you wished you had one of our fantastic Scottish bridies to eat instead!!!

Cant wait to find out if the food situation improves....

Hello again!

Thanks for reading some of my trip report! And as a side note, my DS comes home for college this afternoon for the long weekend! :dance3: Haven't seen him for a month.

Just wondering, do you have another trip planned? And can we all come?

:wave2: Liz: I always feel funny about going to a restaurant just for dessert unless it’s an off-peak hour. During a slow time, I’d say go for it. I don’t think they’d tar and feature you. They have some very good desserts, as I recall, which would have been much more enjoyable than my pork jerky!

That’s exciting that your son is coming home from college this weekend to spend some time with you. I can tell you’re a close family, so I bet you miss him a lot.

There are no plans for WDW in our immediate future, but when we go, YES you can all come. In fact I insist on it!!! It will be at least a year. So many other places to go! (pardon the sacrilege) I just passed up a timeshare trade at Old Key West and made other plans for our up-coming vacation. Our last on-site trip in January 2004 was at Old Key West and we had a great time there. We only did one park, our beloved MK, but did a LOT of resort hopping to check out places I had never seen before like CBR, CS, SSR, etc. and we ate our way around the resorts.

I have briefly considered writing a “prequel” and going back in time to 2004 to write some of our experiences from that trip. I have notes in my 2004 PassPorter. Whether I do that will depend on how I feel about it when I finish this “story,” and whether enough of you wonderful readers want to travel back in time with me. I won’t be offended if the answer is no.

Fantastic...I bet you wished you had one of our fantastic Scottish bridies to eat instead!!!

:wave2: Hey, 2ScottishPrincesses! I’m glad to see that my International Readership is still with me! Yes I would have given a silver dollar for a bridie in place of that pork jerky. Another thing I remember well from Scotland is your vanilla ice cream. It didn’t taste like the vanilla ice cream in the States. It tasted exactly like our white cake mix batter. It was surprising, but in a novel, good way.

Kay, that is a very silly question! I would love to read another report from you, even if it is from 1952!!!

Bring it on please!

The answer is yes!!! I love it when your TR pops up in my inbox. I will be so sad when this one is over. It would be something fun to do while your getting ready for your next trip to the world.

I agree. I haven't been to WDW yet so its all new to me and I love your style Kay. Bring on the trips of days past and let us relive with you the wonderful memories that have you hooked on Disney!!

Yes Scotland has many gastronomic delights and all v v fattening, hence DH and I on weight watchers in preparation for our Jun trip to WDW (yes we will put it all back on but we'll have fun doing it!!!). I have to say though we have nothing as good as an american Cinnimon Roll, these are so gorgeous they have to have been designed by God himself!!!
