But grovel I must, as one good grovel might garner a Tag! Meanwhile, I must keep focused on making my own tags ::MickeyMo . I've snagged enough to put one on the door each day we are there.

Hmm, should I tag the maid envelopes too?

This is sad but true, you should hear my convos with the other kids at lunch. It's all "take a risk LizzySwan." However the way I see it they will need some one to bust them out of jail in 3 years, and then they will be very happy that I never took a risk until they needed me to get them out of the pokey. :rotfl:

I have been advised of the coffee situation.
That was one of many reasons we decided on OKW instead of BC. In our kitchen, we will make our own coffee and then drink it on our balcony. Kona, I'm thinkin'!

Sounds like a smart plan Cyn - maybe we'lll have to bring some ground-at-the-last-minute beans with us too. Sure would be nice to go on vacation and be able to get some super coffee.

We're planning on wine for our Wilderness Lodge balcony!!! (If I can figure out how to get it there...) (SO, SO exciited - "on property" virgins!!! ... oh , can I say that on this board?!!! Eeek! I'll change that to "on property" Virginians - since I'm the Va Bear!

You know, it occurred to me after I posted the last post that people would be thinking "what the heck...you can make coffee at any resort" and that's true, but my morning coffee ritual is important to me and I am kind of a coffee snob (one of the few ways in which I am a snob, IMO ;) ). I gotta have the freshly ground beans and my coffee press. I don't drink a lot of coffee but that 1-2 cups in the morning have to be just right!

Yeah, I was checking rates for August, and the midweek rates are about $50 cheaper/night. And you get to start your water fun upon arrival...so (this is what we will do) you can even check in (although you probably won't get a room assignment until 3:00) in the morning, play all you want, go to your room, and then you can even stay as long as you want on your check out date. So we will play for 2 days, pay for 1....(oh my, aren't we the frugal ones????) :confused3

But even on the Saturday that was booked full, it wasn't a long wait to go on all the slides... :woohoo:

Oh yeah, also...if you do decide to go and make your reservation, join their "SUPERIOR PERSONS" club :snooty: ..(not really the name, but I can't remember what they call it..) It's free, and they have their own check-in line. Boy, was I thrilled that I had made that little arrangement before we got there. As a Disney CruiseLine bus had just unloaded about 3000 people :crowded: :dance3: :crowded: :dance3: :crowded: into the lobby right before I walked in ...I almost fainted :faint: at the line, then the sign for "SUPERIOR PERSONS CLUB" caught my eye....one person in line...I asked if I was to go there and they said, "Why yes, madame! After all, you are a 'SUPERIOR PERSON'! :snooty: " After I kissed :love2: the guy about 10 times, I waltzed my ample behind up to the counter past all those "inferior persons" :rolleyes1 and got myself a Fairly Odd Parents room...Out of line in 10 minutes... :thumbsup2

Is that where you already have ressies? If so, I wouldn't worry too much. I've heard negative reviews about just about every hotel on or off Disney property on these boards. You hear a lot of the bad opinions here and those with the normally good experiences don't post as much, it seems. You'll have a great time wherever you go! :)
THANKS, I am so new to these posts its hard to read inbetween the lines! Sometimes you just need reassurance!!!! Teresa

Dont pay them NO mind!!!!!!! My rule of thumb is....If something is raked over the coals on the DisBoards....I will like it! If people RAVE about something...I will be disapponted in it!!!

This holds true for EVERYTHING...Except WDW Coffee and that everyone agrees is
yuck.gif
I agree about the coffee! Thank God for 4 cup machines! I even do instant cap. I do have to agree about the law of complaints and it usually does come true! Thanks Teresa

So what exactly does this mean? You don't even bother bringing an old "expired" resort mug, you just bring your own old cracked ceramic mug from home and cozy on up to the coffee/hc machines??:coffee:

I use lots and lots and lots of cream in the coffee I get from the resort...Way too much trouble to bring my own awful coffee from home.. :smokin:

Me, me, me!!! We went to the NickHotel last September. The DS's had wanted to go, and we only live 5 hours away, so we decided to splurge...It is very expensive (by our standards-Value Resorts are our style... :goodvibes )..Anywhooo, we paid $180 w/AAA discount for a KidsSuite- two bedrooms, the kids room is decorated w/ Spongebob, Danny Phantom, Fairly Odd Parents, someone else can't remember. We got FOP, it was really nice..the boys loved it. There is a PlayStation and TV in their room, and the adult BR has a TV, too. There is also one in the LR. VERY small kitchenette-Micro, fridge, coffee pot w/ coffee. It was very busy-spent Fri and Sat night-Sat night was fully booked...Lots of Character sightings in the food court, the hotel exterior is decorated very well. The two water slide areas/pools were fantastic-we had a ball stayed soaking wet the whole weekend...There are poolside shows/contests/sliming/ and at night there are several shows featuring Nicklodeon games and at the end one lucky kid gets slimed. You have to sign up in the early am to get the show you want. We went in on standby on Friday and had no trouble getting a seat. They have pool movies, where you can float in the water while watching...lots to do...The pricey room to us was justified because we figured in admission for four for a water park, and then it wasn't so bad.

They have character breakfasts, a food court, a sit down restaurant, and the most GOD awful buffet (but the kids eat free-if they can keep it down...) I have ever eaten at. And I am VERY easy to please when someone besides me is doing the cooking. The buffet is my only complaint, and I would avoid it unless they assured me that it had improved.

I think we may try going down there again, very early on one morning, play all day, spend one night, play most of the next day, then go home. I don't think I would like to spend more than two days there.

If you are considering going, call the hotel directly and ask them to send you a copy of the current schedule of events going on, and a brochure. I did that, and it gave me a really good idea of what to expect.

If you have a family that loves the water and Nicklodeon, you will have a great time...

:cheer2: Yay Nick :cheer2: sorry Mickey :guilty: ::MickeyMo

We haven't taken the boys to Universal yet, so we haven't tried URPH. I would stay there just to be able to go to the front of the lines, which is a huge bonus to me!! :thumbsup2
I didn't know you could go to the front of the line with this hotel!! Was the character breakfast a buffet? We do have res. already and I also booked a character breakfast. My son wants to do the nick at night and i am still waiting till they start taking resv. It seemed pretty cool. A place to let the kids wear themselves out!!!
Thanks for all the info!! Teresa

I am a priority club member! I sign up for all those perks! We are going during the week! 8/21 to 8/24 then off to disney! I knew asking would be worth my time on this board. Thanks to everyone for your support. Good to make new friends! LOL Teresa

I can't be sure about the character breakfast-whether or not it is a buffet....it is not THE buffet that I was talking about, it is held in the sit-down restaurant. I am kinda lucky, I guess. My boys are shy about characters, they only like to see them from afar. So no waiting in lines for autographs, no ressies for overpriced breakfasts, and (sigh) no cute photo ops either... :guilty: Hang around the big pool in the early afternoon for the games...that's when they pick the teams (families) for the shows later that night. The Nick at Night shows are reserved at Guest Relations the day of the shows...go early in the am..you could even try the night before, but I am pretty sure you have to do it at the desk, in person..

As far as I know, all three of the Universal hotels (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, and Portofino) all have the "jumping line" privilege. They are REALLY expensive by my standards, but it would be worth it. Plus they are running some kind of "kids stay, play, blah, blahblah for free" special..

I hope you give NickHotel a try. I am going to try to get there in August, my boys have been bugging me ever since we went. At one moment of weakness they said that (cover your ears/eyes DISUNC) that they liked it more than WDW. I cleared that one up REAL quick.....

Have the SLIME of your life!!
