What the heck is Crab Boil?!?!- sounds painful. :rotfl2: Old Bay is a seasoning that is used on seafood such as when steaming crabs or shrimp! Very yummy. I think its found only on the Eastcoast--- apparently mostly used in Maryland. I think Utz snacks are another product found only on the Eastcoast.
They have Old Bay here in Louisiana. I love it in New England Clam Chowder. Oh and Crab boil is what is used to season boiled shrimp, crabs and crawfish here in the south.

Hi Everyone, sorry for breaking tread took me to long to write back from earlier.

I keep forgetting you're here in Louisiana. My DW and I will have to make a trip over to see you sometime. Slidell isn't too far of a drive from Baton Rouge.

Hey gang I got's a question .... How do I get an egg?? :confused3
Click on someones pet and it will take you to the site where you can select an egg. Copy the code for signatures (the one on the right had side under the egg you want) and paste it into your signature here at the boards. It will hatch on the first of next month. :thumbsup2

I actually think my DH thought my going to CA in early Jan is a good idea!!! (We talked about it tonight at dinner....) I love party animals!!! (Bears love all of their fellow animals - especially FISH!!! oh, and crabs!!!) What part of CA do you live in? How far from DL? :)

We're in San Jose, about 400 miles from DL. We have Interstate 5 in CA, also known as flying low, where we can do the trip in less than 6 hours, including lunch and a potty break. 101 is much prettier (lots of coastline) but ends up taking about 8 hrs.

My boy's getting his driver's license next week and that already makes me wanna cry!
Have you paid your insurance yet? Each of our kids costs as much as DH and me together (and that's with the good student discount, no accidents or tickets, etc).

Howdy everyone,

It's been a long day for me and DW. We got up early to go fishing with her daddy down in Grand Isle, LA. Unfortunately, it was raining pretty heavy so we didn't get to take the boats out. We did manage to pick up an awesome deal on fresh shrimp right off the boats. Large 15 count shrimp for $2.75 a pound. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY picked up about 10 pounds to bring home. :cool1: :thumbsup2

Tonight, I have to head in to work around 9PM Central to help unload a semi at our Schwans depot. Gotta love working in a -20F freezer :)

When I get home, I'm going to try and finish up our trip report for our drive home from Orlando.

Cool! :thumbsup2

Never heard of Old Bay. We have TonyChachere's here in Louisiana (Creole Seasoning) and Zatarain's (Crawfish, Shrimp and Crab Boils).

Hmmmm, never heard of Tony Chacheres, but I have heard of Zatarains, but have never tried it. What is Crab Boils? Old Bay is the seasoning we use here, YUMMY! Just the smell alone is wonderful!

I think Zatarain's makes some. You use it for seafood boils. I know the east coast does it. I like shrimp, sausage, red skin potatoes, corn on the cob, crab/shrimp boil (they have liquid and dry versions), and cayenne pepper. Made some last weekend. I don't care for crawfish so much (too much work for not much meat), but usually people will through crawfish in. No so much salty as spicy. Yum.

Ok, still haven't answered my question what is crab/shrimp boils? Are you talking about when they are steamed to eat?

I hadn't gotten down to your post yet MrOakie. See I knew someone would understand. I'll make a pot of shrimp & sausage crab boil on the weekend, and since I live by myself it lasts me most of the week. $20 get's me about 5 dinners. :thumbsup2

Oh, I get it now, the way you're talking its like a soup right?

All this talk of sending our children off to college has me tasting the bitter sweet tears rolling down my cheeks. 1st year was hard for all four of us (Em missing her BEST friend since they are only 2 years apart they never left each others side) John and I , well you know the whole "that's my baby" BUT the dorm was wired and before we even got home (2 hour drive) Kids were MSN-ing! Talk about love eh? He is in a co-op program so once he graduated from highschool he will not be finished till September 2007 -- I owe, I owe so off to work we go! Last year was hard enuff BUT let me tell you this is even worse. When he went in September, he packed up almost everything he owned. Rummaged thru our camping gear to get pots, pans etc. When we came back that day both of us hardly talked.

I still walk past his door with a heavy heart since I know that he as truly left for good :(

:grouphug: Is Emily planning on going where he is when she's old enough?
