She still has no idea what it is she want to do with her life (Ben knew from about age 10) so she is staying in Highschool for a whole extra year. We used to go to grade 13 but then for some STUPID reason the goverment dropped that year and expect most kids to graduate at the end of grade 12. We have so many required courses that it leaves little time for the kids to "try out" some options. Easier for us though since paying for her to flounder for a year is better. Besides she needs the comfort and security fo home right now.

Wow grade 13?!?! When my mom graduated (1948) they only had an 11 year system. Not too long after that they made it 12 years. I think kindergarten became available in the 70's & I'm not even sure when it became mandatory. Good luck with her deciding what to do, that's a big decision.

ETA ~ I see you already pretty much figured it out but here is a break down on what we call seafood boils down here. ~

Crab boils (also known as shrimp or crawfish boils) are when you take a large pot (the bigger the better like 25 gal or more) on a propane burner outside and fill it with water, crab boil seasoning, new potatoes, corn on the cob, and then shell fish of some sort like crab, shrimp or crawfish. You boil the seafood till done and then remove all the veggies and seafood and put on a large table with news paper on it. Everyone gathers around the table (usually done as a large party) and just digs in. It is like a big barbque without the grill. That is how we do things down here in Louisiana.

Mmmmm, sounds yummy. Might have to try that!

mmmm i love an original lousiana seafood boil! We had a teacher here in AL from LA and every end of year he would do one for his students. Well one year our class was invited and it was wonderful! He used the unprinted paper though and that was a lot better! i'm not big on craw fish either, i dont know if is the taste or the way they cooked it. I love every other seafood yummy!!

We (kids too) went to my 20th class reunion yesterday. Turned out to be lots of fun! Afterwards we went home & then took dd1 to her school dance dh & I were going to chaperone but they had enough so we went to the bar to meet up with my former classmates. Even had "Sex on the Beach" (my fav drink for the members of the FMC-- Filthy Minded Club!) Lots of fun, a couple of my friends went & got tatoos.

Left the bar & went back to dd1's school to see how it was going & to help clean up. Surprisingly she was..........slow dancing with a........... BOY!?!?!!? Where did my baby go?!?!?! She said 3 boys asked her to dance, and 1 boy asked her 2-3 times!

Oh sb your in trouble now!!!!!!!!

Howdy everyone,

It's been a long day for me and DW. We got up early to go fishing with her daddy down in Grand Isle, LA. Unfortunately, it was raining pretty heavy so we didn't get to take the boats out. We did manage to pick up an awesome deal on fresh shrimp right off the boats. Large 15 count shrimp for $2.75 a pound. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY picked up about 10 pounds to bring home.

Tonight, I have to head in to work around 9PM Central to help unload a semi at our Schwans depot. Gotta love working in a -20F freezer

When I get home, I'm going to try and finish up our trip report for our drive home from Orlando.

I'm still looking in the mailbox for my shrimp.... HINT HINT HINT I live here in MI and we have no fresh seafood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its about time you work on the drive home. I'm still waiting to hear about it.

I actually think my DH thought my going to CA in early Jan is a good idea!!! (We talked about it tonight at dinner....) I love aprty animals!!! (Bears love all of their fellow animals - especially FISH!!! oh, and crabs!!!) What part of CA do you live in? How far from DL?

Yeah can he call my DH and tell him its a good Idea too!!!!!!

thanks, you guys are really sweet! And here is my problem. When this thread was on the Welcome Board, it really was the only thread that ever caught my eye there....so I was safe...I would go there, chit chat, then leave. Now that this thing is here on the CB, I (the very nosey one) have to peek at all the threads that look interesting. so now it's not just this "out of control" thread that I am reading/posting..it is 5 or 6 of em-and I even got seduced into posting on a debate type thread...Oy, when will I learn........Being obsessive about these boards as I am, I have been sucked back into the vortex of the CB...Help me!!!!!

There's a period of years from 14 to godhelpmeIhopeitendssoon that kids do "duh" in varying stages, I guess. I don't limit this to boys...I was pretty duh until about age 20. As I told my mom yesterday, "and I thought toddlers were a lot of work! Gimme back my little kids!"

Saturday morning Dobie woke me up at 7:30. I asked Angel to get up to let the dogs out. She opens the door to go downstairs & there's Brandon standing fully dressed in his uniform. She told me he wants daddy. I said for what, she said to go to take him to work. Now mind you Brandon doesn't have to be to work until 10 a.m. this day. I said Brandon are you , you don't even have to get up for work for another hour & a 1/2, no daddy's not getting up to take you. This was his reply "But my alarm clock went off at 7 ????????? " I said Brandon, you're alarm clock didn't just go off, you had to set it & he said "oh!"



I told my dh this is my new answer for everything. "Mom wants for dinner?" "But my alarm clock went off at 7?"

Hmmm, SB's mom there wouldn't happen to be any cute girls working with him? I don't remember accidently getting up early for anything but that when I was his age.

Remember you? Who the heck are you??? Of course, we remember you!!! I was just asking about you the other day (as Teresa said). You be sure to come here and see us more and stop getting sucked into the CB. lol I never even look at the other CB threads. I have my Subscribed Threads page bookmarked and those are the only threads I ever even see unless I have to actually search for something.

We miss you! And for heaven's sake, don't get sucked into the debate threads!! That IS truly horrible!
