Good Morning Everybody! Just "popping" in to say Hi! got back last Fri afternoon and walked into a mess at work, boss out having emergency back surgery, a co-worker diagnosed with a serious illness, please keep good thoughts & prayers for them both, Deanna & Debbie.

Had a great time, met Beebea (ANC96) & her adorable daughter Nikki :grouphug: but shared too brief a time together at Epcot, too many things kept happening for another meet...maybe next time. Never saw a LGMHPC except ours ..and of course Dillon had his on his collar :thumbsup2

Been a working fool since I got back, hope to catch up with the board soon and hopefully next week post a TR (DisUnc I'll need help posting a link okay?)

Never did make it onto Expedition Everest, DIDN'T chicken_out, just never happened to get together and I wasn't about to do it by myself :rotfl:

Anyways, :wave2: just wanted to say Hi ..plans already made for next trip, MVMCP ticket (never been there during this) and ARs made, can't wait, :cheer2: Ruthie

Welcome back!!!! party:

Update on Cody:

Had a pretty good day. Lots of food to be had. Drank 2 tofu/peanut butter/carnation/soy milk smoothies. Actually ate some solid food also.
He did get tuckered out by 12:00 and have to nap. They were going to try and get him on a little walk tonight before bedtime.
:thumbsup2

He is really struggling with his incision and doesn't want anyone to see it. He is still pretty mad at me for taking him to the hospital and letting the doc operate. Hoping a surprise trip to wdw will help him to forgive me.
I'm hoping that he has 2 good days in a row then I'll start thinking that we are making progress.

 Poor little guy! Maybe you should tell him what UHTIMEX said about Big Puma! He might think that's cool!

I really enjoyed getting back in the Dis mode while skimming. I took my Disney books to the hospital but couldn't bear to open them. Felt like it might bring bad Karma or something to us. I'm starting to get excited again about our trip. I might even start working on getting ready in another couple of weeks if things continue. Right now we are just trying to get him some strength back so that he can have some remains of a summer. He is still scheduled to do a couple of camps and I have a birthday party to plan for him. So have to put the disney planning on the back burner for a few weeks but hopefully that is all.

:grouphug: To you, dh, & Brody for being such great supporters!

Things I have learned about my son:

1. He will not be a cat person
2. He will not make beer money in college by selling plasma
3. He will not complain about any illness, ache or pain for fear of mom the nurse jumping into action
4. Trauma life in the ER will have a new level of interest for him
5. Add scar and hospital jewelry to big brown eyes and long eyelashes and you get lots of freebies.
6. Last I'm so proud of his ability to endure a difficult experience with grace and courage even though he was scared to death and never has had any experience with challenges.
 Sounds like an amazing kid! :worship:

When his incision totally closes up maybe putting some Vitamin E on it will help reduce the scarring. If nothing else show him the Harry Potter and let him know sometimes things happen to amazing people & they should be proud to carry a scar to show how much they've overcome! ;)

Found him some lime green coban. He is really struggling with his incision and doesn't want anyone to see it. Thought I would put a piece of gauze on it and then put some coban to hold it. can't bear to put another piece of tape on him. It is going to take me a month to scrub off all the adhesive remnants he has. He is still pretty mad at me for taking him to the hospital and letting the doc operate. Hoping a surprise trip to wdw will help him to forgive me.
I'm hoping that he has 2 good days in a row then I'll start thinking that we are making progress. Been psyched out before by this kiddo.

Thanks for the update, Michele! :grouphug:

I can't believe you've managed to not tell them about the trip!!!!
(But how did you sneak in your Disney books without them seeing them?)

Cool Lizzy. :thumbsup2 Here are the 3 quotes I keep taped to my monitor at work.

1) Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans. -- John Lennon from the song Beautiful Boy.

The other 2 are from fortune cookies:

2) Sometimes a stranger can bring great meaning to your life.

3) Never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you!

Words to live by huh! :)

I have a new favorite quote. NSalz gave me a magnet from Downtown Disney.

It reads: "If a man speaks in the middle of a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Never did do well under pressure;) ...think I'll park it for awhile.

so please all go and give an extra hug and I love you to your kiddos even though they sometimes drive us mad.
I'm so glad to hear recovery might not be too far away. This illness has stretched out forEVER! Your son IS brave and gracious under pressure, but so are you, Mom. You have done a great job with this. You're a terrific mother.

In your and Cody's honor, I am going to squeeze my kids extra hard today and also try not to yell at them very much. :teeth:

The toe...is doing ok. (And thanks to those of you who wondered about it or asked for an update.) It's still swollen (but not too purple, Va-bear!) and was mighty stiff when I woke up this morning, but I've been able to stay off it a lot and so it's getting better quickly. I plan to continue babying it the rest of the week. Limped into Target this morning to pick up the last two things I needed to shop for: luggage locks and low cut coolmax socks (since I am clearly going to be more in my sneakers now than my crocs athens, which were what I planned to wear mostly but can't so much now with the toe). So, everything is done except for the actual placing of things into the suitcases

Thanks for the update Cyn!!! Yeah, keep babying that toe - is it all aplow to get out of cleaning???? If so..... BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!

I gots to get some of those coolmax socks - do they help with....ahh.... how to put this mildly....SMELL??? (Seems to be na issue around my house - NOT ME , ofcourse! :) )

It always makes me laugh too! One of my old students was from California (Close your ears Cyn.....ah, eyes that it....) He used to always say DUDE (and CHIEF, and many others!) I always laughed at him and thought "how California"..... before I knew it the whole lab was saying it - even me! :)
Now, I just have to take up surfing and Im ready to visit Cyn! (I am a mean BODY surfer - dont think that counts!)
