He is one of my really good friends, and we are really alike, we both have little siblings the same age and same birthday etc. and so we "say" were brother and sister, but were really not, but I don't know if he wants me telling people that anymore..

boy are you right about learning latin! It's not nearly as widely taught as it once was. Our grandmother took it in High School and she is 86, but it's not even offered to our kids.

My DH took latin in college, and swears that it was the best thing he ever did!
I actually teach at a school where the only foreign language they learn 3rd-9th grade is latin. It allegedly helps with SATs since the kids may not know the word, but they've learned the root words. They're offering Spanish this year for the 10th graders, so I'm anxious to see if learning latin first has any impact on how quickly they learn Spanish...
Of course, finding people to TEACH latin has been the greater challenge, LOL!

One of my highschool English teachers told me that once you say a word atleast 72 times its "your" word--meaning its now a part of your vocabulary.

When I taught 3rd grade, I read aloud to them every day. One of the favorites was always "Frindle" by Andrew Clements! Every class attempted to invent a new word like the character in the story! (Gotta love teaching! )

I played around with my avatar.. made my eyes green.. you couldn't tell once I made it small enough for an avatar, so I made them REALLY green, and I looked like the undead This will have to do for now till I find a non me pic I like.


I only have 3 pages to catch up from taking a walk.. not too bad.. Thank you all

Note to self: 20 minute 'powerwalk' impossible with a 9 yr old. It turns into a 45 minute "mommy can I bring my butterfly net just in case" "mommy let's see what's in the lake" "mommy wait! - I'm trying to catch a frog" walk.

I know about the power walk thing.....Our dd is now twelve and can watch her sister while DH and I power walk.....Although they grow up to fast, it is a great advantage having a built in babysitter!! Did she catch the frog?


My green hair is fine, but if you feel like playing around and making it greener, I would welcome it....but I don't want to become a bother.
