Last time we went we were on the 12th floor Ewa side facing the pools. It was a fantastic location and we really had no sound complaints. Like other posters we enjoyed the Olelo Room music with the sliding door open, then closed it and were able to sleep just fine with it closed. And actually most nights we left the slider open (with the screen shut and locked) all night so we could wake up to auntie singing in the morning at Makahiki.
Our first trips we had an outward facing room higher up on the Ewa side and that was great in terms of peace and quiet and privacy.
If you want QUIET I would request higher up and outward facing, and thank heavens for those amazing sliding doors.
