Our recent cruise and tips that worked for us!

Tinkermom3 thank you for all the great tips. We are going on our 1st DCL trip in Dec. withour 2DDs 5&7princess: princess: Can't wait!

Great TR!! Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up with you onboard! We had a great time too, MH and I rebooked for October 10, 2009--which week did you rebook?

OMG that is the same cruise we re-booked for! :cool1: OK, we HAVE got to meet up this time! Wasn't that an awesome deal for this cruise? I checked prices when I got home to see if we could find a cruise and not take the kids out of school but could not beat this price. Most of the summer cruises were $9,000-$11,000! The week of October 10th is parent-teacher conferences so they will only miss 3 days of school.

We actually didn't book the kids!! We know we can always add them, but we were thinking we'd like a second honeymoon--and then the IL's booked that week too.
We'll definitely have to meet this time!!!

Thanks so much for the awesome tips! We are hoping to go on our first cruise in 2009 and your info is great!
I was looking at booking a Cat 4 room also. Did you like it and was it roomy enough? Did you book a Cat 4 for your next cruise?
Thanks!:)

Yes we thought there was plenty of room in our Cat 4. The only trouble we had was in the morning when our DS13 was still sleeping on the murphy bed which pulls down right in front of the door out to the balcony. It was not a big deal, we just crawled over him. ;) Keeping the room tidy really helped so it never felt cramped.

Yes, we booked another Cat 4, we actually booked the same room. Stateroom #8560.

Do all the Cat 4 's have murphy beds or is it just if there are more than 4 people?
Thanks!:)

We just had a category 4, Room 8056. It did not have a murphy bed. We had a couch bed and a pull down from ceiling bed. At the end, next to the balcony door was a upright chest (3 shelves) with lots of storage room. We loved it!

Are you sure there was not a murphy bed? The stateroom host pulls in out and would not do so if there are only 4 people. Having the murphy bed down makes it difficult to get out onto the veranda. You have to climb over the bed since it opens in front of the veranda door. The murphy bed we had was just opposite of the chest with three shelves.

This bed definately pulled down from the ceiling. We laughed b/c one day we had blankets above our heads that didn't get tucked in. It was right above the couch. We had a small table and chair directly opposite the chest. Then, the veranda after that. We loved the set-up.

Sorry, I meant in addition to the ceiling pull-down bed. I am just wondering if all of the Cat 4 have the murphy bed. I do not think I would have even noticed our murphy bed if we had not had to use it  :

Cat 4's 8024 and 8006 only sleep four people (they connect to another Cat 4 that sleeps 5).

Thanks for the tips!!! I will be a 2nd time DCL cruiser (it will be a first cruise for DH). It has been 3 years since my last cruise...I just copied and pasted alot of your tips into my own "cruise tips and tricks" document!!! Thanks for posting all those!!!

For some reason your christmas card photo isn't showing up now...I couldn't see it!! I wish I had done this on our last cruise..we will make sure to get them on this one!!:thumbsup2

Great information, thanks! We just got back from the Western itinerary, and it was great! We also did Xcaret with 9, 7 & 4 year old kids. They all loved it, especially my 4 year old who got a piggy back ride the whole time in the river. I agree, the only downside to that excursion was that we didn't have enough time to explore this wonderful park. Also, take your Bonine for the ferry boat ride to the mainland, ours was really rough.

Another vote here for getting to CC early, our kids loved play structure in the water, and we wanted to be sure to get seats right in front of it. You are right, by about 10:30 the beach was really crowded. That being the most fun day of our cruise, we didn't want to miss a minute! :cloud9:
