We stayed at The Polynesian from April 13th - April 23rd (yes, it has taken me this long to get back to normality and get round to posting!!). We booked a standard lagoon view room and requested Tahiti.

We arrived from the HRH at the Polynesian at 11am and checked-in and were given our Lei's. We were told that we had a room in Tahiti and it would be ready by 2pm. In the meantime we toured around the resort, had a coffee in Kona's and then went back to the desk at 2pm to have our cards validated.

We had room 1038 - right at the far end of Tahiti, nearest the Transportation & Ticket Centre. Our luggage (and us!) was taken from The Great Cermonial House to our room on an Island Guide Cart. When we opened the room and saw the view I almost fainted. It was sensational. The children (DS 4 and DD 2) went running out on to the beach and played around whilst we unpacked.

I have two words for anyone who has made a reservation for a standard lagoon view room - REQUEST TAHITI!
I was worried at first about it being furthest from the GCH and the walk being too far with DS and DD. However, the walk is only about 5 minutes along the beach to the GCH and we were just seconds from the TTC with easy connections to MK and EPCOT. The bathrooms had double sinks (some at the Polynesian only have 1) and the room was HUGE! (compared to HRH it felt like a suite!)

Here are some photo's from our trip. It was simply the most magical time ever. I will DEFINITELY be staying at the Polynesian again!! If you have any questions, I would be happy to help!
Thanks for looking.

Further along Tahiti (luckily not down 'our' end) work was being carried out - right outside the rooms! Does anyone know what they were doing?

All in all it was a magical trip worth every single penny (or should that be cent?!). Anybody thinking about staying at The Polynesian should stop thinking and start making their reservations! We have stayed at the Grand Floridian before, but in my opinion The Polynesian beats it hands down. Watching WISHES from the patio each night or swinging in the hammock on the beach with DS and DD laying with me enjoying the fireworks and musics was truly magical. It was an amazing trip in a wonderful resort.

Wow! These photo's are huge! If a moderator could shrink them down a bit it would be appreciated (or if someone tells me how to do it myself!!)

Thank You!

Thanks for sharing your pictures!! :sunny: I'm still counting down the days till we're there.

Beautiful pictures!! Glad to have another Poly convert!;) I keep seeing all these Poly posts, and starting to re-think our July res. DD wants to try the WL, so I guess I'll stick with that, but I WANNA GO BACK TO THE POLY! Waaaah!!:teeth:

Your pictures are wonderful. What an awesome view! Thanks for sharing them.

thanks for sharing, I love the photos!!! don't shrink them please!!

Glad you had a great time!! I can't wait to stay at the Poly next year! How was the transportation to AK and MGM?

Hi Decker

The transportation was good. The buses ran frequently. The only problem I had with the transportation was the huge amount of people using it when not staying at the resorts. For example, a family with 7 children got the bus from MGM to The Polynesian to go to Magic Kingdom. They were staying off-site as they were talking to a man sitting beside them about their rental home. We had to stand on this journey because there were no seats left. We also got chatting to some people in the Blizzard Beach bus area who were taking the bus to the Poly to visit MK

Apart from that I thought the service was good. It does get a little annoying sharing with Contemporary as the buses always pick-up and drop off there first.

:)

Great pictures! I think the size is fine too!
What a view!:sunny: We haven't even gone yet this summer and DH is planning next year. We want to try another new(to us) resort and this looks like it just might fit the bill!
Thanks again, really enjoyed the pics!:)

I think you have just completely changed my mind on which resort to book for our May 2005 trip. My first inclination was the Poly. Since our trip this past April, I have done an about face and have fallen in love with the cabins at FW for the convience of the kitchen and separate bedroom. I will also be traveling with 2 kids. DS will be 5 and dd-3. Those pictures were spectacular. The campgrounds certainly don't compare to that!! Thank you so much for your review!!

Terri

thanks for posting the beautiful pics! I'll have to remember to request tahiti when I make reservations for next Feb for our dd 5th bday. Im sure we all are just going to love staying there::MinnieMo

GREAT photos! I really love the first one with the hammock. Oh how I miss the Poly. I'm still trying to convice my DH that we NEED to go this Oct as well as the already planned Oct 05 trip. I know he's thinking about the money but we do NOTHING else and the kids aren't going to be young forever! Nickimouse can your DH talk to my DH?:teeth:

Terri-the convenience of the transportation to MK & Epcot far away the kitchen advantage of the FW cabins. I liked the cabins but you've got to take a bus to the boat to MK-not too fun with 2 toddlers (unless you rent a golf cart).

I am happy that your trip was sooo magical!! Your pictures are just gorgeous, I'd love to stay here sometime.:sunny:

Thank you for posting these pics! Looks like a great place to stay.:D

Thanks for the beautiful pictures!! We too love the Poly. We stayed there last June with a 1 yr old and 6 yr old. We are planning to go back July 2005 and again are heavily leaning to the Poly because of all it has to offer our family and the wonderful time that we had there last year:)

We love the Tahiti building! We were so disappointed when we couldn't stay there last summer because the resort moved concierge there because of construction at the Hawaii building. I think the view from Tahiti can't be beat and the beach seems so private. I loved the sound of the ferry in the morning and it's a quick walk to the Transportation Center. Your pictures were wonderful. They made me feel like I was there again. We wanted to try the AKL and take the safaris this summer, but the Tahiti will always be first in our hearts!
