Our October Escape 10/13/11. TR Day 4 Wedding Day Part 5 A Little Fun Time at MK:)

Your Mom sounds very similar to my Mom! My Mom will pretend to be happy about things when she is talking with me face to face but then when I bring it up again later she will slip in some sarcastic or negative comment. When I ask her flat out what is wrong or what she doesn't like about it she puts on her happy face again and says that everything is great. I finally flat out told her "Mom, if you have a problem with this wedding or with the person I'm marrying or whatever then tell me now. I would rather hear this all from you now than 10 years from now but the negative side comments are getting old." Then she claimed that I was being way too sensitive and that she has been joking the whole time etc.. Moms can be so frustrating sometimes! I definitely hear ya on the Mom issue!

That is so frustrating! (And so familiar! :lmao:) I hate that passive aggressive crap. Just come out and (nicely) say what you mean. How hard is that!? Good luck to you! :goodvibes

 So sorry you're having this drama with your mama! I think lots of people's parents or relatives get a little crazy when it comes to weddings. Hopefully on the actual day she will be able to calm down a little and just enjoy herself! If not though, try not to worry about it, because it's not your problem! And you deserve a beautiful, wonderful day without worrying about silly stuff like that :goodvibes

Thank you! You're right, I do feel so much better!

I think you'd be fine just sending an announcement. I dont think any normal person would think it was to get a registry gift! Unless you included a link. Which of course you wouldn't! The newsletter was fun because I think it makes it seem more like a sharing of good news instead of a pseudo invitation. Word has a few good templates that expedites the process and you can make it as simple or as fancy as you want. Might be worth looking into. Are you going to do any "at home" stuff when you get back?

Thanks for your encouragement. It definitely helps!

Well I would include a link to our wedding website that has the registry on it :lmao: They can take it as they wish, lol---and I will pray they take it in a good way :rotfl:

I usually use publisher for mine--it's pretty good--gives me something to do at work, lol. We will probably do an at home reception in January--and thinking about a disney cruise in February--kind of like a planned--not spur of the moment honeymoon, lol.

Hi Allie, glad to read an update! We are doing the wine and love letter ceremony as well. DF is having the box custom made my someone who makes cigar humidors. It's a little on the expensive side, but we figure this is something we will keep (and want to display) forever. Let me know if you would like some more information! :goodvibes

That's a great idea! Would love some info on it please! DF says he has something specific in mind, but can't find it anywhere. He's driving me crazy! Maybe he'll figure it out before wedding day!

On to happier topics! Music has been one of the most exciting parts for me, but also the bane of my existence. I guess only because it’s so important! Since DF proposed 6 () years ago, I’ve had the music all picked out for the ceremony. Then in an awesome change of plans, I get to get married at Disney World. Which is just fine with me, in fact, I had planned to walk down the aisle to Disney music from the very beginning. I got engaged at Disney, I bought a castle cake topper on ebay...lets just say I’ve been planning a Disney wedding long before I knew I was going to get one! Hehe. :lmao:

When I found out that as an Escape bride I only got a violinist and at Sea Breeze Point it would be a challenge for an iPod dock (as well as a short entrance!), I almost said, “thanks but no thanks.” That’s how committed I was to my musical selections! After a lot of “Allison, please come back to reality” talks with DF, I finally gave up 6 years of musical planning and went with plan B. (which is a pretty good plan considering it involves a Disney wedding! Hello!) :woohoo:

But in honor of plan A, I must tell you what my first choices were.

Plan A (aka...getting married in a perfect world):
(when we were going to get married at Chimney Rock in NC, which is where they filmed my favorite movie, “Last of the Mohicans” I was going to have the soundtrack playing while the guests were seated.)

Bridal Party entrance: Transformation from Beauty and the Beast. I had the whole thing choreographed and set up, as to who walked down the aisle to which part, etc. (I’m a dancer/choreographer, I can’t help it!)

A Time for Us: played during the ceremony, a few of my dancers doing something I choreographed for them

Storybook Love: From Princess Bride, played during the Kiss the Bride part

First Dance: “Love and Luck” by Jimmy Buffett. This song was written for us. Love, luck, flying, best friends, jimmy Buffett....unfortunately, I don’t think it will sound that great on a violin! Haha

Ok....so here is what we have decided on. Once the wedding venue changed from the mountains of NC to Disney, the whole feel and thought process changed. I rediscovered my love affair with Disney tunes and went crazy!

Plan B (aka...getting married at Disney, which is also getting married in a perfect world!)

Guest seating: Storybook Love (SUCH a beautiful piece of music!!)

Bridal Party Entrance: A Whole New World (this is special because it reminds me so much of DF. He’s a pilot, so the whole “soaring, tumbling, freewheeling” in the sky hits home. And well, its just so “us.”

Bride’s Entrance: Beauty and the Beast (it’s not “Transformation” but it is my favorite Disney movie. And Joey and I are beauty and the beast. I’m that weirdo bookworm that doesn’t quite fit in, and he’s a handsome, booming voiced, hairy, hunk of man...:rotfl2:)

Wine Box Ceremony: A Time for Us from Romeo and Juliet. (this is my something old and borrowed. My parents used this song when they got married. Next year they will celebrate 40 years of marriage. That’s inspirational. I’ve known I’d use this song somewhere in my wedding since I was a little girl).

Recessional: Medley. I have to talk to Tanis to make sure we can do this, but this is what I picture:
Starts with When You Wish Upon a Star, and then we have little blips of Zip a Dee Doo Dah, MMC March, Pirates, Dream is a Wish, It’s a Small World, etc. Cross your fingers cause I am SO SO excited about this!

Cake Cutting: I See the Light from Tangled. So pretty

First Dance: Married Life from Up. So perfect for us!! I’m going to choreograph a little waltz for us to do. So excited.

Father/Daughter dance: Stand by Me by Ben E King.

I don’t think I’ve heard of a lot of people doing dances at morning Escape weddings at Sea Breeze Point. This isn’t an option for me. It HAS to happen!! Dancing is the MOST important part to me (did I mention I’m a dance teacher/choreographer?) ☺

I figure we can just do Disney tunes during the eating of the cake, but those are the most important.

What do you guys think?

I definitely put a link to the website in our newsletter! Shameless plug! :thumbsup2 DF and I have been together for 10 years, so we don't really need anything. So there is lots of fun Disney stuff on the registry. I really hope they take mine in a good way too!

I like publisher, it's fun too. We are doing an at home sometime next Spring. I am hoping that everyone comes to that and decides to stay far far away from Disney during my wedding week! :lmao: We've never been on a Disney cruise. It's next on the list!

I love your musical selections! I also love the fact that you're going to choreograph a waltz - I think that is so cool, and I wish I could have done the same.

Thank you dahlin! There is still time for your first dance! I would suggest coming up with 3 moves, whether its an underarm spin, a dip, or a booty shake (hehe). :dance3: Whatever feels like you and works with your music, and strategically place them every so often in your dance. It doesn't have to be complicated. But it will make the dance look and feel polished and together. Just a suggestion. It would be fun! :cool1:

Today is my 2 month mark!!!!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
Super excited! It's all starting to feel very real now!

Quick update: I have been working on button boutonniere's for my guys, and they are looking great! I still have to figure out what ribbon I want to wrap the stems in, and figure out how to secure to the tux's, and then I'm done! I'm really pleased with them.
I also have 2 more hairpieces to finish! Yay! No more hot glue burns on my fingers! I also had a little accident with my hot fix tool while working on my just married flip flops. (oh yea, those are done too!) Ouch! It was a doozy. I will have pics up soon! I'll have to include injury pics too! haha.

I have my floral appt with Rosie on Tuesday...super excited to finally get to do something with Disney as far as planning my wedding goes. Yay. Then its time to turn in my planning kit, and wait for the big day.

But for now, the ocean's calling my name. So it's beach time, then live music and fireworks later tonight. I love my new home! :cool1:

Allie - Just wanted to say I am loving your musical selections!!! Music was very important to me too and I was very lucky to have my wonderful harpist at our ceremony!!
You are getting so close now!! How exciting!!

It's been a productive wedding day!
We hit the mall today to window shop for wedding jewelry, and kill some time. Success!!! I found the necklace and earrings at Claires of all places. I will upload a pic later. It makes me happy because they both have unintentional hidden mickeys in them! Super cool.

I've also been looking for some sort of perfume or spray to wear for the wedding day. I'm not a big perfume girl, usually just wearing lotion or some sort of spritz/spray. My mother is severely allergic to most perfumes, so I just never had any. DF bought me "Heavenly" from Victoria's Secret a couple of years ago, so we decided to go in and check it out. We decided that the heavenly wasn't quite right, but I did find something called Noir Tease (?). I like it a lot. It just seems weddingy to me. Floral and bright, feminine, but has a sexy feel to it. I'm really excited about it! I didn't buy it yet, because I don't want to wear it until the wedding, and I dont think I could refrain! So, that goes on the list.

We also found a couple of things for the honeymoon at Victoria's Secret. And we'll leave it at that! :thumbsup2 hehe.

We also narrowed down what we want for wedding bands and will probably be buying those next week. And we picked out a few new outfits for DF for the trip.

After our mall trip, we came home and have been working on wedding stuff all night. It has been such a great day! DF has been updating our website for everyone, and I have finished hairpieces and door hangers, designed the dessert party menu cards, and am starting on the program fan design. Next up, we have our floral phone meeting with Rosie on Tuesday. Then I think at some point this week, we'll head over to WDW to pick up celebrating buttons and park maps for the welcome bags, and play a little! I am a happy bride to be!!!!

Ok...as promised, I finally have some pics to put up for you! Sorry I've been so lazy!

So first of all, I have been searching for a hairstyle. I chopped all my hair off last year, and every other day in my life, I am SO glad that I did, but for the wedding day, I'm really upset that it's kinda short. I've been letting it grow out since May, and it's been driving me bonkers, so I hope it'll be long enough to do what I want, and all these bad hair days will be worth it! :lmao:
I am tentatively booked with Beaute Speciale for the wedding day, and I have to make up my mind this week and get the deposit in. I also need to see if my BM's want to get their hair done. Since DF just switched jobs, and doesn't get paid for training, (and I haven't found a job yet), we have been without any income for almost a month now. So, I would love to pay for my girls to get their hair done, but it's just not an option now. So I guess it depends if they want to pay to get theirs done or not. I also have to decide if I want my hair done for the ceremony, the MK shoot, or both. Anyway, I digress. Here are some inspiration pics that I'm praying will work with my hair.

my hair is really thick and kinda wavy. I definitely want it a little less "messy" than the third pic, but it gives you an idea of the shape. I will have a tiara (I'm such a little girl!) and a veil. At first I wanted a fascinator, but as soon as she put that veil on me I was sold. Which was so weird, because I never thought I'd be that girl!

speaking of hair and fascinators, this is what I made for my BM's:

The picture really doesn't do it justice. It really sparkles, and the feathers have so much movement. The picture looks like I squashed a spider and buried it under a flower. :lmao: I'm really happy with them. They are a little bigger than I had originally planned, almost like a fascinator without the veil. At least my BM's get one! hehe.

I'm almost done with the boutonnieres for DF and the GM's. I still need to finish the bottom, but you get the idea:

I really love how this wedding has such a mixture of tradition and elegance (aka dress, veil, tiara, DF's traditional morning tux, etc) and fun crazy stuff (BM's bouquets, boutonnieres, sparkly converse, etc). It's so US. I have had so much fun planning this wedding. More fun that I ever thought I'd have. Oops...I digress again. Want some more photos? Well, either way, here they come! :lmao:

So I took pics of the necklace/earring set I found at Claires, but they didn't turn out all that great. I thought maybe I'd pull them up on the website, but I can't find them. So excuse the crappy pic, and maybe you can get a general idea of what they look like:

Thanks to DF for "modeling" them for me! :rotfl: Can you see the little hidden mickeys everywhere? It's cute, and cheap (which is always good in my book!) :thumbsup2

A while ago I bought just married flipflops from oriental trading. Pretty much "just because" and I decided that I could fix them up for a fun little DIY project.
Here is a refresher "before" pic:

ummm.....ick.
Here are the "after" pics:

sorry they are so huge. I can't get them to work right! :confused3
So, anyway, that's what I've been working on. BM's bouquets are next. I've decided to make "cotton candy" out of batting, and dye it the color I need. Then, I will add big round lollipops and unicorn pops, and make the handle look like a fancy cotton candy stick. This one scares me a little, but hopefully it will turn out. My Matron of Honor is coming down for Labor Day weekend, and she used to work as a florist. So maybe she can help figure it out!) :thumbsup2

Just wanted to leave you guys with a pic I took a couple of weeks ago at Boardwalk. I took it with my phone! And then used snapbucket to add the effects. I LOVE it, and can't believe that its a phone pic. I'm quite proud of it!

That pic of the Boardwalk is just gorgeous! I can't believe it's a phone pic!

And I really love the bouts that you made. Your jewelry is beautiful as well, what a great find! I also love what you did with those flip flops, they look much better now! :goodvibes

I just wanted to say all of your DIY stuff looks great!! :goodvibes I really like your jewelry. Also love the hair inspiration pics!! Love everything!!

I'm having an Escape wedding at SBP, too, and that photo of yours has made me so excited to be there for the wedding. I've only been to the Boardwalk at night, and your photo is such a beautiful daytime shot.

ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'm so excited!! I've been such a bad disbride...but I promise, this afternoon I will finally sit down and update!! :thumbsup2
