our non-rushing (sorta) disney anniversary w/ PICS & VIDEO! new TR link - p. 136

You won't believe this. I hit the back button and lost about 3 paragraphs of my response.

That video is so funny. Everytime I watch it I laugh. It was sent to me with the heading "why I quit court reporting school." There is no way the reporter got any of that down.

 Poor you listening to that disgusting story. Don't you hate always having to keep a straight face and not show any emotion, whether it be outrage, disgust, angst? That's something they don't teach you in school.

I've been a reporter for 22 years - started fresh out of college. I've seen my fair share of wacky people/outrageous stories. Some uh-so embarrassing. One of my favorites was a *ahem* dancer telling us how she couldn't perform her "signature" moves anymore due to a car accident and how she wasn't getting the usualy amount of "tips" because of that. You get the picture.

All the attorneys (all male) sure got an eyefull when she demonstrated for us. Let's just say her leg was wrapped around one shoulder then over the other. (Thankfully she wasn't wearing a dress)

 just.......ew!!! that's so nasty. i don't know if i'd be able to sit through that.

i do about half depos and half court. and court's the same as far as the attire. i wonder why people think that showing up in front of a judge and baring mid drift is a good idea????? although as one of our judges says, "if they had any common sense they wouldn't be here in the first place." once in juvenile court a 14-year-old girl showed up in her house shoes. i was like why would her mother let her do that??? but i guess that's why she was in juvenile court.

this has nothing to do with attire, but i have to mention it. the craziest deposition i ever did was a divorce case where the wife had been adopted as a baby, then met her biological parents in her 30's. well, a few years later she was on vacation with her biological father and ended up sleeping with him.  and these weren't your typical jerry springer people, either. they had lots of money and great jobs and kids, a big house, all that stuff. crazy!

i don't know if you've ever seen this. a fellow court reporter sent it to me. i'm not making fun of this lady because i'm sure she's mentally ill, but i don't know if i could have held a straight face during the swearing-in part. and i don't know HOW IN THE WORLD that court reporter transcribed ANY of that!

Some of those juvie kids have no respect! We are constantly getting on to them for showing up to see their po's with tube tops, short shorts and even some of the mothers that show up with them dress the same!:scared1:

I loved the gorillas, so fun to watch.

can you guys see my signature? i changed it and i have a widescreen laptop, so i can see it. i just don't know if you can on a standard screen. the bottom of my signature is my ticker.

then they wonder how their kid ended up in trouble! :sad2:

they're my favorite!

The gorillas are REALLY cool!!

Is that you I hear in the back ground???

 it was me, but it was the tape, not me talking while i was filming the video. i said to ray, "look at him looking at us." and he said "i got him" or something like that and i was like, "that's so awesome!" don't know if you can make all that out or not.

That lady is wearing my curtains!!!

A couple of years ago, I turned the empty back bedroom into more or less a storage area for some of my school stuff. I also made it a TV/playroom. It's got a couch and a Mickey TV, Brooklynn's party kitchen, books, and toys, and then a few storage bins of school stuff. Since it was just going to be a kid room, I used that material for curtains in there when I happened to run across it one day.

In my personal opinion, it looks better for kid room curtains than it does for a dress. Can we take a poll?

But, every Disney fan has different Disney tastes, and although it might not be what we'd wear, she can't be all bad. She is in Disney World and she's definitely not hiding her Disney love! She's got her fanny pack and her curtain dress, and she's ready for a day in the parks!!!

Part of the fun of the Disney experience is people watching. That was pretty cute and gave us all a smile, I bet. Thanks for sharing!

This post reminded me of the Carol Burnett skit, when she is playing Scarlett O'Hara, in a dress made out of the curtains, with the rod still in it. When Rhett asks her about the dress, she says, "I saw it in the window and just had to have it!" :rotfl:

And Dawn, right there with you on the bratty kids/clueless parents. We rode behind them on the flight home from FL. The 4 y.o. stood on the seat, including during a very bumpy landing, and the 9 y.o. announced that the best thing about Orlando was their visit to Hooters. Nice.

Ghetto?!?!?! Did you see Brooklynn's paper bag pinata? We do ghetto!!!

I'm at school right now, so I can't see the video until I get home tonight, but I already know I will love it. I could watch all the animals in Animal Kingdom for a long, long time, but since there's so much to do, I just stay a minute, take some pictures, and move on. If I lived close, that's something I would do on weekends - go over to AK just to spend some time watching.

I like the new countdown, and I will look forward to hearing all about the adventures of two wild and crazy girls.

i can see it but also have a widescreen.

Poor little thing - I wonder how you could even transcribe that?

Hey Dawn! I'm late but I'm here. Great start to the report. Sorry about the skeevy HoJo. Yuck!! Can't wait to read more!

And I am old enough to remember that very skit.
One of the funniest things about the Carol Burnett Show was when they started laughing at themselves and tried to hold it in.

The gorilla videos and pictures are great, Dawn. I look forward to much more. I'm going to try to get some more pictures up on our report tonight. Tuesday is usually a pretty good evening for me to do this kind of thing.

i'm not too young to remember that skit. one of the great memories i have as a kid is watching the carol burnett show with my grandmother.....:cloud9:

if that kid thinks the best thing about orlando is hooters than they did something wrong on their vacation!!!

Ghetto?!?!?! Did you see Brooklynn's paper bag pinata? We do ghetto!!!

i think your paper bag pinata was charming, not ghetto. there's a difference. ;)

i agree about the animals. i'll make you a deal - when i win the lottery and buy a second home near disney, you can come stay with me during the summer and go to AK as much as you want to!

love the new signature picture..super cute!
i can't see the ticker though..weird....hmmmm

can you see any of it? i don't get the signature stuff - it seems like it looks different on everyone's computer!

Signing on!

welcome! :goodvibes

Poor little thing - I wonder how you could even transcribe that?

you can't!

Virtually impossible to transcribe because you can't decipher most of what she's saying. :confused3

exactly. i'm sure the court reporter had a little meeting with attorneys afterwards with a panicked look on her face! :scared1:

Hey Dawn! I'm late but I'm here. Great start to the report. Sorry about the skeevy HoJo. Yuck!! Can't wait to read more!

better late than never! you're not too late - i'm not even halfway through with day 1 yet! :rolleyes1

i remember that about the carol burnett show! i used to watch it with my granny when i was little. thanks for your compliments! :goodvibes

i just wanted to start out this installment by saying that i've updated 3 days in a row now.......i don't want you to get used to it! :rotfl2: i have a lull in my typing right now, but our calendar at work is CRAZY for the next two weeks, which means my typing will start piling up. so i'm updating while i can. ;)

-----------------------------------------

so when i last updated we had just finished our awesome, but rather stressful (due to the rude kid behind me and his brilliant parents), safari ride. speaking of kids, ray and i decided upon witnessing our first disney meltdown to keep a count during our trip. i can't begin to tell you of all the meltdowns play by play, but the total meltdowns on the day that we left was 21. not too bad for 6 full days! it was funny - we overheard one guy tell his little boy, "wow, you melted down early today." :lmao:

anyway, on to the TR. after the safari we decided to head to the 2:00 FOTLK show.

i saw this on the way and snapped a pic. i love how there's grass growing on the roof!

DSC03775.jpg

we also stopped on the way over to see some fishies. flat mattica and flat beana loved the fish!

DSC03776.jpg

when we got to the theater, there were quite a few people waiting, so we just joined the crowd. they let us in shortly and we ended up pretty far back. i've never been close for this show and therefore my pics never turn out that great. one day i'll get closer!

here are flat mattica and flat beana anxiously awaiting the show!

DSC03777.jpg

while we were waiting for the show to start, i called the number on the little card the CM had given us at SSR to see if our room was ready. it was! room number 1123 in congress park! :woohoo:

finally, it started! popcorn::

DSC03779.jpg

we were in the lion section........rawr! :simba:

i love the part of the show when they pull kids out of the audience for the little parade. it's always so cute to see the kids' expressions. too bad i wasn't close enough for pictures of strangers' children.

DSC03805.jpg

as we were leaving, we passed pumba and were saying goodbye........

DSC03813.jpg

......when he noticed our flat companions and wanted a closer look. watch out - don't get inhaled!!!! :scared1:

well, it was around 2:30 and we were out of things we wanted to do. of course, we wanted to check out the nemo show, but the next showing wasn't until after we were planning on leaving the park. besides, we still had thursday as a free day to do nemo if we wanted. our fastpass to EE wasn't until 3:35, so we had an hour. we decided to just head over to EE anyway and see what the wait was.

on the way, we took in some great scenery.....

DSC03815.jpg

DSC03816.jpg

i'm telling you.....the flatness was out in full force this afternoon!

we also grabbed a yummy frozen coke, but i forgot to take a pic. you've seen one frozen coke, you've seen them all!

by the time we got to EE, it was around 2:50. the wait was down to 40 minutes. our fastpass was 45 minutes later, so we figured we'd just hop in line and see what happened.

DSC03817.jpg

hmmmmm.......wonder where they went?

DSC03818.jpg

DSC03819.jpg

look at all that money! wonder how much is down there.

DSC03821.jpg

ray eyeing all that money......

DSC03822.jpg

this would look marvelous on winkers, i think.

DSC03825.jpg

that's interesting......

DSC03827.jpg

finally, we made it on to EE!!!!!! :yay: my favorite ride at disney (actualy, it's a tie with ToT, to be truthful). :dance3:

look.......it's a disney CM peep! i took this one for you, jordan!

DSC03828.jpg

DSC03829.jpg

the view from the top of the mountain......

DSC03831.jpg

what? no track?

DSC03832.jpg

it looks like a couple of people behind me smiled for the camera! :teeth:

DSC03833.jpg

here's our redneck pic. i just love this ride!!!!!

DSC03835.jpg

by the time we got off, there was 2 minutes left until we could use our fastpass, so we jumped back in the fastpass line. this time we asked to ride in the back since i had done that back in september without ray and i loved how it seems to go faster back there!

so much fun!!!!
