Hi All!
We just got back from a 8 night stay in the world and ate at some pretty amazing places. Before this trip, Le Cellier was my favorite but then we dined at California Grill and really enjoyed the food there.
Well, then the last night of our stay we went to Raglan. Now, before I begin, I must state that DH is a very basic eater...no fish except shrimp cocktail and his meals usually consist of meat and starch with minimal veggies thrown in. I eat basically everything...but no salmon except for lox...and that is minimal.
The cast of characters: Me, DH and DS9
We discussed the menu prior and DH decided he would try Kevin's Heavenly Ham. This is no longer on the menu...he then was disappointed with the other options.
The service: Vinnie was our server. He was very good and informative...very laid back, could have been mistaken for slow at times (I don't know if that makes sense), but was great dealing with all my questions.
Drinks: I had a beer flight, then a pint of something...they were all good...if only I could remember what I had...
I do remember the Grand Marnier with dessert. They had better coffee than the rest of the world too.
For appetizers we decided to share the:
Colpucinno - frothy Colcannon soup, a creamy potato, bacon and cabbage soup
Drunk Chicken - a whiskey glazed chicken kebab served with lime cilantro dipping sauce
Heaven on Earth - baby back ribs in a Guinness and honey glace
We enjoyed the appetizers very much...although, the chicken was a little bland and the dipping sauce was like mayo. My son didn't seem to mind and gobbled them down.
We also enjoyed Soda Bread and Guinness/Brown Sugar dipping Sauce. (We had to ask for this). This was not like the traditional bread that I have had. It was a dense, brown oatmeal bread. It was very good.
For entrees we had:
DH: Serious Sirloin Steak - 10 oz sirloin topped with Irish whiskey glazed, drizzled with gresh basil oil. Served with mashed potatoes and topped with crispy fried onion strings.
He also ordered a side of Creamed Corn (not sure of the name of this on the menu). He was very pleased with everything and said the steak was better than Le Cellier and California Grill. The side of corn was amazing!!!
Me: Now, I was going to get the fish and chips but asked the server (Vinnie) what he recommended. He said he recommends fish dishes since all the seafood is flown in daily...he said to try the:
It's Not Bleedin' Chowder - It is potatoes, mussels, prawns, scallops and fresh seafood infused with white wine and finished with cream. ***This is not a soupy, liquidy dish...it is very thick...definitely not like a clam chowder.***
What I didn't ask was what kind of other seafood is in this dish. Well, it came out and there it was...SALMON...
I decided that it shouldn't be that bad since I could probably pick it out but when I tried it...I LOVED it!!!
It was the best thing I had on the entire trip.
DS9: Gold'n Chicken - Two deep-fried chicken goujons - This was a nice plate of chicken tenders and "chips"/fries. He was very happy with this...the fries were great!
For dessert:
DH: Me Ma's Apple Pie - Cooked apples, mouth watering pastry and ice cream He said this was unbelievable.
Me: Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding...Yum, Yum, Yummo! This was very buttery and the two sauces that accompanied it were great!
DS: Plain old vanilla ice cream...
As I sit here and type this, I am salivating and cannot wait to plan my next trip to Disney so we can dine at Raglan again.
I hope you have enjoyed my report...please let me know if you have any questions.
