Our memorable yet forgetful trip

Well, then your an honorary TFWer! :rotfl:

Ok, I'm all caught up! Whew!! :goodvibes Great trip report! I can't believe G-Luv blew you off! :snooty: (J/K, G-luv! ;) ) Your kiddos are adorable and I'm totally lovin' your Forgotten Items list! :thumbup2:

You got me, I'm hooked!:teeth:

I did not blow her off!!! This "incident" is covered in my most recent trip posting...:rotfl2:

Great Update Parla!!!

Love how your dd wouldn't smile because you couldn't get the whole horse in the shot...LOL

Oh....The AI comment literally made me LOL

24_G_002.jpg

Woohoo! Another LOL! It makes the whole TR worthwhile. Seriously! :goodvibes

By the way, welcome to my co-workers if they've read this far. They claim not to understand how to register on the site!:confused3 :rotfl:

Love the pictures Parla, have to get busy doing more of the reading though. I will catch up eventually! ;)

I'm enjoying your trip report and your pictures! I'm sorry you had a forgetful trip and a bad time getting home, but at least most of it was good and I'm sure the fact that it was free made it a little better too. :lmao:

I don't know if you remember me, but I also won a trip from a radio station and you gave me good advice when I was getting worried because I never heard from them. We're finally going in November and they gave us the Beach Club.:cool1:

Hey Mary! Yes, I remember. You're the only one I gave advice to so it wasn't hard. Did it end up being the same woman booking your trip that I said booked mine? Hopefully the airlines will straighten out some of the stuff they have going on and you will have a smooth trip there and back. ;)

No, when we finally heard from them, it was a different place than handled your trip I think. I hope my trip goes ok. The lady didn't seem the friendliest thing. When I emailed her, I kind of got yelled at for referring to the radio station by the wrong name, by what they are called here rather than by the proper letters. :scared1: Excuuuse me! :lmao: Then DH spoke to her and said she was nice, so we'll see.

I don't even have the flight info yet because they are using Southwest and I have a bad feeling about that already because the closest airport that SW flies out is a pretty long drive from my house.

It’s Tuesday and we are exhausted. Since Leia wasn’t feeling well last night we try not to rush everyone this morning and don’t care that we leave later than anticipated. Today’s objectives are to see the Finding Nemo Show, ride Expedition Everest and go shopping at Downtown Disney (I see Potato Heads and Lego in our future).

We drive today just for the simple fact that it will be easier to get to DTD from AK with a car and we know that Luke is going to buy lots of Lego. Before we left home it had been decided that he could spend $200 on the trip. I hadn’t let him buy anything with his own money in months which was killing him since he didn’t even know about the trip. Plus, he made over $100 at our yard sale just before we left. He’s quite the salesman. If a person even looked at one of his toys he was there to explain how it worked.

I hate trams in parking lots. It’s officially official. They are almost as bad as waiting on a bus and fighting the people that jump on the bus through the exit. Almost. I will be strictly an on site girl if for nothing else than avoiding trams.

We get inside AK and Anakin runs off to get fastpasses for Expedition Everest. By this time our feet are really hurting. We meet him at the Nemo Show after I convince Leia to take some Advil since she keeps saying her head hurts (I find out once we get home that a headache can be a side effect of Strep throat).

We’re sitting at the show and I’m relieved that the only other ride we have to ride today is Expedition Everest. Everyone is just feeling worn out after all the running, heat, rain, blah, blah blah. The show is AWESOME. I cried a little. Yes, you heard me. The tears were there but I don’t think they came out like they did when we watched the Beauty and the Beast show last year at MGM. That one got to me because Leia’s face was just so sweet to look at while she watched it and I was just so happy to be there. This one just gets to me when Dory is all sad and alone at the end and Marlin really is a big jerk... you know the story. It was just such a great show. Before the show they said they were recording it for something or other and to ignore the cameras and sorry for the inconvenience. Did they say that when you went to it that day Goofyluver? We were at the 11:30 AM show. Were you there? I’ll kick myself if you were. We could have sat together

The stage for the Finding Nemo Musical.

After the show we still have a good hour to kill before EE so we head into DinoLand. The only thing we did here last time was eat at Restaurantosaurus. My kids don’t really care for dinosaurs. Leia thinks that the TriceraTop Spin looks like fun so Anakin grabs fastpasses for Primeval Whirl and we get in a 20 minute line for TriceraTop Spin. Afterwords Leia wants to ride again and Anakin says he will skip Primeval Whirl so I take Luke on PW. We go to use our fastpasses and there is no line so we don’t need them. Hint Hint Hint If it’s busy and you think a ride is popular and you don’t need your fastpass it might be a hint that the ride stinks We had seen it on TV and I thought it looked great. Leia wasn’t big enough to ride it and now I know why. You get on the ride and before you get off an invisible somebody beats the crap out of you. I’ve never been in a physical fight with anyone but I can only imagine that you would feel the same after one as you feel when you get off of PW. Poor Luke had his glasses pushed into his face by my shoulder several times and was screaming for it to stop for pretty much the whole ride. I think the imagineers screwed this one up. Sorry guys (and gals although I never see any gal imagineers when I’m watching those Travel Channel specials). We once again skip Dinosaur because Luke doesn’t think he can handle the scary dinosaurs and Leia really doesn’t care.

Now, it’s time to ride EE. We grab some ice cream first because we are dieing from the heat. Then I put Leia’s new Tinkerbell flip flops on. They’re so pretty. I put them on her at the hotel earlier while we were getting ready so she could practice walking. She never wears flip flops because the pair I bought her two years ago annoyed her. She doesn’t like the plastic thing between her toes. These are also higher than the normal flip flops and she obviously can’t walk in them. I hold her hand and steadily walk her to the CM. He measures her and announces, “You’re just tall enough. Your shoes saved you!” He stamps her hand and I try to get her through the line without looking too suspicious but she is tripping all over the place. Really, she looks like a drunk four year old. Now I’m laughing but afraid that someone is going to run up and start yelling that we can’t ride the ride. I have her other shoes with me but don’t want to hold up the fastpass people to stop and put them on. There is no fastpass line really. We basically walked on the ride. I barely get her there and stow her flip flops in the net. The first CM said it was cool so they didn’t fall out. Then another one came by and said you had to have your shoes on. I ignored the second one. Leia loved EE. She chose a pink t-shirt with a cute abominable snowman on it when we got off.

It’s starting to sprinkle a little and we are ready to get to DTD. We rush out to the car and at some point FORGOTTEN THING #6 happens (I hope that's right, I forgot to write down a list of forgotten things and the last number I can find is 5). I’ll tell you about that on the next installment.

We get to DTD and get some McDonald’s. Yuck! I don’t come to Disney World to eat McDonald’s but Anakin absolutely refused to try the Wolfgang Puck carryout place. I was too tired to mess with two different places.

1000861sa8.jpg

After McDonald’s we drive to the other end of DTD and Anakin and Luke go into Disney Quest. Leia was still eating her chicken nuggets. When she finishes up we follow them in. The coolest thing about Disney Quest is the elevator that takes you up. I had no idea there would be a little show there. It was cute. The rest of Disney Quest is annoying. Anakin and Luke argue the whole time over the Buzz Lightyear game. They try it like four times and can’t win (it took them three tries just to figure out how it worked) so Luke is now in full pouting mode. Leia just wants to play air hockey the whole time we’re there and these idiots (translation teenage boys) keep playing really rough at the table next to us and knocking their puck up in the air and hitting people. I convince her to find something else but she wants to go back to air hockey. The idiots are still there only now they have lost one of the pucks and moved on to a different table. I take Leia downstairs where Anakin insists that I trade him Leia for Luke. They head upstairs and I go over and report the idiots and the missing puck. When I get upstairs there is an employee standing next to the boys which suddenly makes them calmer and he has brought a puck up with him. We spend the next half hour trying to convince Leia to leave. If I had a bigger house I would so buy an air hockey table so the kids could just annoy each other and leave me alone.
Our first shopping stop is World of Disney. Leia really wanted to see that Princess store from the commercials. She wasn’t impressed. It pretty much looked like most of the stuff she has seen at the Disney Store. She just wants a My Little Pony. So we head to Once Upon a Toy and Luke runs off to make his lightsaber. I take Leia to the Ponies and she’s in heaven. I spend the next 20 minutes trying to cram every outfit, a pony and a popcorn cart into a little box. I unfortunately didn’t realize that a bunch of little things that looked like bowls were actually Pony shoes so Leia only has a few non matching shoes (we’ll call these forgotten things #7) but she has every single other accessory. I was so proud. The thing barely closed. A lady told me before I started that I could get everything in but probably not the popcorn cart. I showed her! Not really, she left before I was finished.

Now, on to my reason for DTD. The Potato Heads. My friend from a few years ago had said that I could get all the pieces in one box if I was careful and didn’t get the Potato. I didn’t want to get home and have problems with the pieces fitting our one measly Potato so I did get two Potatoes. Only, there was no way you could fit all that stuff in one box. It would take ten. It looked like they had come out with lots of new stuff. A CM helped me for a little bit and when she closed one of the boxes she could only get one side closed and said that was good enough. I filled the other one. We got Mary Poppins stuff and Little Mermaid stuff. Leia wanted Tinkerbell stuff but I could only find the hair and wings. The CM said they didn’t have the shoes anymore. I ended up seeing the shoes after we paid and were leaving (it was only one pair on a display one but I’m sure I could have asked for them). I was probably filling Potato Head boxes for close to 40 minutes and Anakin was angry with me. I wish they would just package them all in one box and let you pay $50. That was more work than fun and there was a lady telling her daughter that if she wanted one she would have to do it herself because she wasn’t having any fun. I said to her, “It feels like a job doesn’t it?” And we shared a laugh. But really, I love the fact that we have those pieces and the kids love playing with them but it was less fun doing that than standing in line for a ride for 40 minutes. At least you knew you were getting on a fun ride. With the Potato Head pieces you just knew that you were going to forget some things that you really wanted. I’m labeling the Potato Head experience with FORGOTTEN THING #8 because I should have just bought a third box full of accessories and missed the Tinkerbell shoes. I considered the Potato Heads mine because the kids didn’t want to buy them since they knew their funds were limited and had chosen other things but now in hindsight I wish I had gotten the Buzz Lightyear stuff and something else that Luke could enjoy more. He loves the things like the sorcerers hat, the autograph book and the video camera but Leia has the entire Mary Poppins outfit and Little Mermaid getup to play with as well as Tinkerbell hair and wings that he won't touch. I don’t think I will be making it back anytime soon or to Disneyland and I don’t want to spend a fortune on ebay or in shipping so I guess he will just have to be happy with what he’s got.

Leia had said she was thirsty so I asked Anakin to take them and get something to drink about 20 minutes in to filling the Potato Head boxes. They came back in when I was trying to pay (the only guy at the register was trying to use some foreign travelers checks and they had to call someone and it took forever). As we’re leaving Leia is crying that she’s hungry and daddy only let her get a drink out of the water fountain. Now I’m angry. I don’t like the kids drinking out of water fountains especially in places like this not to mention she is hot and wanted something cold. There is a hot dog stand just outside and I stop to buy bottled water which makes Anakin all indignant that the water fountain wasn’t good enough. It takes forever for the water too because the people in front of us bought more than ten hot dogs and sides and drinks. Sheesh, we are the bad line magnets today.

While at DTD I’ve been calling one of my sweeper buddies who lives nearby and is coming to meet me. She is in the parking lot so I send Anakin and Luke into the Lego Store and Leia and I wait outside. There are a ton of smokers out there and the smell is making me sick to my stomach and Leia is crying that something stinks and I’m hoping my friend gets there soon. I finally see her and we say Hi and are talking a little bit when Leia starts crying that she needs to go potty NOW. I have no clue where the potty is and check the map. It looks like it is on the outside but we don’t see it. It takes us a good five minutes to figure out that it is actually inside the World of Disney Store. Leia keeps crying louder and louder that she needs to go NOW. I’m afraid that she’s going to pee her pants and we are running through the store. About 2/3 of the way back she stops and leans forward and here it comes. What she did is why they call it blowing chunks people. She blew those chunks all over the place. Luckily she was in the middle of a big open space and didn’t damage any merchandise. My friend is an RN so when the CM’s ask if we need anything she starts directing them around about helping us get to the bathroom and bringing us a cup so Leia can rinse her mouth out without getting stuff on her water bottle.

As we’re in the bathroom Leia is still crying about how she told me she needed to potty. My friend and I are kind of laughing about it at this point and telling her that needing to throw up is much different than needing to potty and if she had just said she needed to throw up we could have taken her to a bush instead of getting throw up all over the carpet in the princess store. We head back to the Lego Store (sneaking quietly by the poor CM’s pouring the throw up powder on the vomit) and Leia sees a Lego castle that’s pink and has a baby in it. She just has to have it. It’s $60. But, it’s her money. We aren’t buying their stuff this time other than food and a t-shirt. Anakin is already raving mad about how much Luke is spending on Lego even though I swear he agreed that Luke could spend $200 of his own money. The kid wanted to go to the Lego Store more than Disney itself and was ticked off every morning that it wasn’t the day that he got to go to the Lego Store. Anakin seriously needs to drink something to kill that bug that crawled up his butt. His attitude is bringing us all down. I had wanted to go to the Earl of Sandwich for Dinner but due to the blowing chunks incident just want to get back to the hotel as soon as possible. I say goodbye to my friend, apologize for the short visit and take the kids to the car while Anakin pays for everything. He gets to the car and starts griping about how Luke bought so much they gave him free stuff (they stamped a card all the way so he could get $10 free so Anakin just grabbed him one of the small Mission to Mars sets he hadn’t gotten (of course I’m thinking Leia got cheated since hers cost nearly half of the total).

When we get back to the hotel I take the kids and all the bags and head upstairs while Anakin parks the car. I’m trying to figure out what I can feed them since the Boardwalk is awful with the quick food choices. I call Disney Dining to make sure I’m not missing anything. That’s when I’m reminded that I can buy sandwiches from the bakery on the Boardwalk. I really wanted to get Leia some soup but I would of had to take her to a restaurant or order overpriced room service (it still would have come from the restaurant but I couldn’t just get it to go myself). Since I really didn’t think she would eat it I didn’t want to pay for room service. Luke and I head to the bakery after Anakin gets to the room and I buy two big sandwiches and get Leia a kid’s meal with the uncrustable. She loves those but they cost so much I don’t buy them at home anymore. The cashiers are pushy and the one in charge starts going off about a dessert. I said we didn’t want desserts and she snaps at me asking if I’m on the dining plan. When I tell her no she shuts up (looks at me like I have three eyes) and says that the first girl was right and walked away. Geez lady, I would have been on the dining plan but we couldn’t purchase it since we won the trip. I asked.

We get back to the room and Luke and I can only eat half of our sandwiches so Anakin eats the other halves (he was still pouting about the money and said he didn’t want anything when we first left). Leia fell asleep on the bed holding her uncrustable without taking any bites so I wrapped it up and put it in the mini fridge. We fall asleep knowing that I don’t plan on taking Leia out in the morning even though the next day is really our last day and was supposed to be the day I finally get to eat my way around the World Showcase. After the drink incident I’m not leaving her with Anakin again and I’m still mad that he couldn’t get her a cold drink. I go to sleep trying to think of what to do for Leia to make her feel better in the morning and wondering if I will ever get to eat my way around the World Showcase.

Wow, Parla. this sounds like a really tough day.

Hmmm, I'll have to ride PW again -- when I rode it last, I thought it was fun -- just like The Wild Mouse I used to ride back home in PA.

I love, love, DQ but it's really not for small children -- teens and adults who like games.

I had a "blow chunks" episode at Epcot American Pavilion one time -- getting sick while on vacation is sooooo not fun!

Can't wait to see what you do the next day.

I go to sleep trying to think of what to do for Leia to make her feel better in the morning and wondering if I will ever get to eat my way around the World Showcase.

awww poor Leia!! hopefully your last day goes better!

I got it as I read along farther...you know I confuse easily...:rotfl2:

That is such a shame that Leia got sick....Poor DD.......

I hope the next day is much better for you all:goodvibes

Oh my! What a day, Parla! :sad2: I feel so bad for you! And poor little Leia!

What's up with Anakin? I hope he lightens up a bit, soon!

I love the idea of the elevator shoes for Leia.... I'm going to have to try that if my DS doesn't grow the inch he needs to hit 40! :rolleyes1

I hope things get better for everyone in the next installment! ;)

I didn't stand her up! Technically...our dear Parla ran away from us to use FPs!!!! :headache:

Sorry Leia was sick! Yucky!

We were at the 3:15 show for Nemo. But, we must have been near you when you rode Triceratops!

I hope that Leia feels better fast!!!

Wow, Parla. this sounds like a really tough day.

Leia actually liked DQ better than Luke just because she loves air hockey. Luke loves it too but had such a hard time with the Buzz one that he really didn't enjoy himself.

Everyone's hoping the next day goes better. You obviously haven't been reading my report! :rotfl: Seriously writing it and seeing all the bad stuff is strange since we really had a good time. ;) Except for Anakin's attitude at DTD. :lmao:

I'm not sure how pretty green Tinkerbell flip flops will work for your DS. ;) I had measured them at home without shoes and really thought she was tall enough so be prepared. Of course the Crocs really flatten out I guess. Last time we went she just wore sneakers and they had a little more height. She was borderline 40 though. Make sure you do what you gotta do to get that boy on Soarin'. It was her favorite ride last trip.

Oh no what a day Parla poor little Leia!

Thank you for your sympathy.

Fine! I'll leave it at it was mutual. We did need to get those fastpasses used and grab some more so we could waste them in the rain you know. But I also felt bad that your whole group split and looked like they were going to eat something and I didn't want to hold you up from getting your food. It was just you and me standing there and no one to hold the camera.:sad1:

Shoot, I knew I should have been looking for you everywhere. Dinoland seemed kind of small and crowded though, I'm not sure I could have spotted you if I tried. If Leia hadn't already been feeling bad from the night before I probably would have tried to stalk you more. ;)

You're right! They did split on us...so it's their fault and not ours!!! I had been waiting all day to meet you and all hungry Damian could think about was food!!!! :rolleyes1

I will absolutely back you up on that story!

Great report. Just read it and loved the pics.

:thumbsup2

Sorry for being MIA for a while. I have a friend that had/has some major medical stuff going on and she doesn’t have any family so I was the main contact and am still trying to deal with things.

I felt bad about not finishing my report and just couldn’t ever find the time or energy to git-r-done so I’m forcing myself to do it right now.

Let’s see, where was I? It’s Wednesday morning and Leia is sick. I make Anakin take Luke to MGM since he never got his RNR ride in. The plan is to call them after Leia eats and see if she feels any better. After a couple of hours I get her to eat a little dry cereal and then some chicken soup (the General Store got a big purchase from us) and then she decides that she really needs to see Kim Possible and ride Soarin’. I call Anakin and let him know that we are heading to MGM and we’ll see them there. As I’m getting things together I can’t find the string backpack that has our ponchos and Leia’s Animal Kingdom beach towel she got on our last trip. I didn’t think Anakin would take it since he likes to travel lite but I call him anyway. He doesn’t have. Crap! The last time I know we had it for sure was at AK when I switched Leia’s shoes because I originally had her flip flops in that bag. But I can’t remember for sure if we had it after that. I thought I looked down at it contemplating our ponchos on the way out of the park when it started sprinkling but really don’t remember for sure. Forgotten thing #6 never gets found. We even call a couple of places when we get home to check lost and found and it’s nowhere to be seen. I don’t realy care about the money at this point but I’m sad that Leia doesn’t have her special AK towel that basically commemorated our stay at AKL. Not to mention I had just gotten that Adidas string backpack from my Coke points.:sad1:

Back to the story already in progress. We get on the boat and head to MGM. I call Anakin and let him know we’re there and they meet us over by Kim Possible. I tell Kim that the only reason we left the hotel is to come and get her autograph and she’s really sweet with Leia having her pose and such. I wonder if poor Kim came down with strep after that?

Now we are deciding when to head to Epcot. As we are walking toward the exit we see a sign that Mike and Sully are going to be out. They weren’t even on our time list from a few days before so we stop and get in line. It was too cute. First Mike steps out and everyone is kind of disappointed but still glad that at least one character is here and then Sully jumps out from behind the wall and everyone screams. Since their costumes are so big I guess they can’t leave this garage.

Leia really wanted a hug!

Here’s a picture that Anakin took of Luke while Leia and I were at the hotel.

Leia and I head over to Epcot and leave the boys to wait for their RNR fastpasses to mature. We make a wrong decision and decide to head for the busses instead of taking the boat. I have never had to wait so long for a bus in my life! It was almost 30 minutes before a bus came. I was getting ready to call the dining number (since I have it in my contact list on my phone) to see if they could connect me with someone to get a stinkin’ bus. Soarin’ has almost no fastpasses left but we go ahead and grab two. They aren’t good until after 8 PM. We get some food from that Season’s restaurant and sit down to eat. I call Anakin and let him know that the fastpasses are almost gone. It’s only about 2 PM at this point. They had just gotten off of RNR and are hurrying to get to us. By the time they get there the fastpasses are gone but Luke really wants to ride Soarin’ so we decide to stand in the 120 minute line. It wasn’t too bad, we stood next to some nice people and I had bought some little suckers at the gift shop just before we got in line so they had something to mess with. After Soarin’ which was great as always we decide to ride Spaceship Earth since they will be changing it soon. I hope we get back at some point to see it. On the way we remember that we forgot to get our free picture from our Disney Credit Card last time so we ask a CM where to go and head off to get our free picture. I’m not going to show you the free picture because it is an awful picture of me. But we were so happy to see that Mickey himself was there for our special picture time and boy is that line short! Here are the kids heading in for their autographs.

Now the plan is that Leia and I are going to ride Soarin’ one more time with our passes but Luke has one spot left in his autograph book. I don’t get to eat my way around the World Showcase but I did want to get some lucky cats from China so we head to China and then circle around to where characters from Aladdin are supposed to be. I think it’s Morocco. Leia and I leave the boys there and head back to Soarin’. Believe it or not she didn't care if Jasmine was there or not. My daughter doesn't like what used to be Anakin's and mine favorite movie!!!!

We still love Soarin' and I'm stoked that we got to sit in the front rows both times today but now it's time to head back to the BWI. My feet are hurting so bad and it is so hard to walk at this point but we finally make it back to the hotel and everyone collapses knowing that the party is over and we have to leave early in the morning. Now, I’m going to take a poll. Does anyone really want to hear about the mess with NWA or the fact that we had to pay out of pocket to spend one night in NY? Does anyone know how far away the Statue of Liberty is from JFK? I still get sad about spending the night in NY and not even seeing anything plus being so sick that I couldn’t even swallow. I will try to avoid flying on NWA or Delta for the rest of my life. But... despite all the trouble... I would still take a free trip to WDW or DL in a heartbeat. I think we would all take ZiCam though for a week before and the whole week we were gone. Or maybe that Airbourne stuff, does that stuff work?
